Dark meat chicken kabob, best in LA! I've been to over 50 kabob places around LA, lived near Glendale for a decade, tried all the famous sit down establisments to the not so famous hole in the wall joints but this to me is the best chicken kabob I've ever had in LA, or ever actually. First of all, the fact that you can choose dark meat is unique and appreciated. Secondly their rice is alway so well done, perfection. Third, their sides are incredible, creamy hummus, a bright and vibrant Shiraz salad and their garlic toum texture is almost like mashed potatoes puree, with right amount of garlic tang without being overpowering. The chicken kabob itself was so well marinated and tender it melts in your mouth and elevates this often overlooked protein into something so memorable. It's a perfect meal and their consistency is appreciated. I judge every Mediteranean restaurant that offers kabobs on their chicken kabob to see how well it is marinated, prepared and cooked, and Sidewalk Grills chicken kabob can't be beat imo, try it and I'm betting you will agree. This is a great small restaurant with delicious pita wraps and fresh ingredients. My favorite is the chicken pita wrap, which is always satisfying, and their side salads are excellent as well. The portions are good, and it's a nice spot for a quick, tasty meal. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the wraps seemed more flavorful in the past. They're still good, but I miss the extra seasoning and bold taste they used to have. Overall, it's still a place I enjoy visiting and would recommend to others. read more

While ostensibly a Mediterranean restaurant, Sidewalk offers a variety of eclectic options worth a look. I came with three work colleagues for a Tuesday lunch. A little tired of Mediterranean, I ordered the BBQ Chicken Wrap ($21) with a side Tomato Soup and Mixed Green salad. I was struck by how delicious everything was. The Tomato Soup was fresh, tangy, light, and with a little kick of spice. The salad was fresh with a great dressing. The BBQ Chicken Wrap was delicious and well balanced with tangy barbecue chicken, soft beans and corn, and fresh vegetables. All three components were top notch, and left an excellent impression. The staff was nice and explained the menu. The ambiance was clean and seating breezy. You order from the front, and they deliver to your table. Prices, as stated above, are a little steep, but suddenly become reasonable when you sizing up the quality of the food and proportions. Was happy to see they offered dark meat kabobs, that's exactly what I was craving. Breast meat is often too dry for my taste. The chicken was moist and flavorful. They offer lots of sides that looked great. I would skip the roasted potatoes - they were fairly bland and undercooked - or request them cooked well done. The rice and Greek salad were good too. They have a nice big menu, generous portions and kind service. It was a very large portion of chicken. The garlic sauce (which I usually love everywhere I get it) was a bit on the chalky side for me, not sure how they managed that. They could give a bit more pita with this plate. Quality has unfortunately gone downhill here. I used to order and eat lunch from Sidewalk Grill very often, but I've been consistently let down lately. The biggest issue for me is the salads. The greens taste very low quality, with huge rough leaves that feel cheap and almost pre-made, like they just grill the protein and throw it on top. Their Mediterranean salad used to be my favorite, and there were times I ordered it almost every day, but the quality got bad enough that I stopped. I still like their chicken rice plate, and I usually get it with a Greek salad and hummus on the side, so I do still come back once in a while. But now it feels more like fast food than the fresh Mediterranean spot it used to be. Ambiance-wise, it's nice to sit outside on a sunny day, but there's really no vibe here--it feels like a quick in-and-out spot where people eat fast and leave. We came here for lunch and were seated on the patio while waiting for our food. Due to an emergency phone call, we had to rush out unexpectedly, and get it to go, and in the chaos I accidentally left my purse behind. I realized it a few hours later and called the restaurant, who confirmed it had been turned in. I was very grateful, especially to the couple who found it and returned it. However, after picking it up and checking the contents, I discovered that two of my cards were missing, I contacted one credit card company and later received a fraud alert showing unauthorized charges on the second card. I called the restaurant again and was told they would review the security cameras and follow up, but I never heard back. While I understand mistakes happen, this experience was extremely stressful and disappointing, especially after initially feeling so relieved. I wish the situation had been handled with more urgency and clearer communication. I hope the restaurant improves how incidents like this are addressed in the future. read more

I ordered 2 bbq chicken salads. Received 6 ranch dressings with NO bbq sauce. I called to notify the store and spoke to Eric. He was very apologetic and tried to fix the situation by speaking to his manager, Brandon. However, Brandon said because I clicked on ranch under the "dressing" option (it's states to choose 1), they assumed I didn't want bbq sauce even though I emphasized I ordered 2 "BARBECUE" chicken salads. This is such a shame that this was Brandon's way of covering up for their mistake instead of try to compensate their loyal customers, considering the price for this salad has significantly increased. I use to pay $36.00 and now it's $41.00 for 2 salads. Brandon is very unprofessional and has the worse customer service. To make matters worse, instead of Brandon speaking to me, he had Eric try to deal with this situation. After driving nearly an hour to pick up my food and spending 16 minutes on the phone to complain my order was incorrect, I was told to call tomorrow morning to speak to the store manager, David. All the ingredients were the same except, the textures were not as expected. The salad was flaccid, warmed too much from the meat, and wilted. The assortment of greens was not blended well as if they just scooped them into the dish and said, "That will do." The lack of presentation might have stemmed from the time of day, this was around 3:30-4:30 on Wednesday afternoon. Between lunch and dinner rush, my family and I were their only guests. The meat portions were fair and the flavor was amazing. My wife and daughter were not impressed or disappointed. cute little spot on vermont avenue in a walkable and lively part of los feliz. there are many little eclectic shops, bookstores, and cafes that line this street, including griffith observatory to the north and barnsdale art park to the south. really enjoyed the salad here. had the caramelized onion with arugula and blue cheese, balsamic mustard dressing. added the grilled chicken which was my favorite part of the meal, really melted in your mouth with the right amount of flavor. the salad itself was dressed perfectly with almonds for a light crunch in each bite. we also got a veggie plate. the falafels here are different than any other falafel i've had, i think it may have eggplant in it cuz it's less crispy and more creamy. not a fan lol. the grilled veggies were cooked perfectly and we got a side of tzatziki. i personally enjoyed the garlic sauce the most on the plate and dipped the chicken from the salad on the garlic sauce. rice was unimpressionable lol.. all in all, i loved the salads the most here. i'll be back to try more, as there are like a million varieties of salad on the menu. read more
