    Lule Kabob Plate
    Christina D.

Stumbled upon this place on the way to work & it was absolutely delicious! I got the lule plate & substituted all rice instead of sides, so good. Dom is awesome, she has such a bright & bubbly personality & made our experience so great! She definitely adds to the good vibes here. Will absolutely be back!

While it was a little pricey the portion was generous, the chicken kabob was VERY tasty and the jalapeño hummus was nice and fresh. Definitely worth a try!

If you are looking for Mediterranean food in silver lake Meze is a great choice. Portion sizes are large and their sides are fantastic. The pasta salad and baba ghanoush are both fresh and a great pair for any of the plates. The lule kabob plate was flavorful and filing. I will be back to try more dishes.

The food here is good. It's a little pricey for what it is but prices for everything seem to be higher these days. Our kids loved the pasta salad side. The babaganoush was one of the better ones I've had recently. It seemed like most people do to go and delivery orders as we were the only ones eating in the restaurant.

New: Smash Burgers (Double Cheeseburger with grilled onions, fresh pickles, mustard and ketchup). Delicious, fresh and juicy.

New: delicious Smash burgers at Meze. Double patty, grilled onions, fresh cut pickles with mustard and ketchup. Must try during exclusive pop-up in Silverlake.

Delivered 12/03/20 TH @ 1:30pm: Hold have I missed Meze all these years!? Living during these COVID-19 times, my roommate and I have eaten a lot of takeout pizza as we have systematically been trying all of the neighborhood pizza joints and wherever we might be which was the latter case this time with La Canada Imports. Having grown up in the area and very familiar with them although I haven't eaten here in years, since I was in the area I thought it was as good of a time than any to reacquaint myself with this neighborhood eatery. I was a fan of theirs, so would that still remain!? PURCHASE Garlic French Fries ($9.95): Mixed with cilantro, feta cheese crumbles, salt, and black pepper, this was a ginormous portion that lasted a couple days (the final day wasn't that great). Thankfully, the thin fries were nicely seasoned with a wonderful crunchy exterior and moist interior. The cilantro was a nice touch (I loved cilantro and nearly put it on everything!), while as much as I loved feta cheese it was more of a window dressing because the pieces were so small, and the amount of garlic was just slight enough. This was a meal on its own https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jkz4tcoejYL_QHILv5J5Pw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Lamb Kabob Wrap ($12.95): Wrapped with romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickles, hummus spread, and garlic, this was a refreshing meal I felt was a tad short on ingredients as it was sort of flimsy and not thick at all. I enjoyed the many succulent tender big lamb chunks but truly wished it was more shredded so I had lamb throughout the entire wrap and in each bite. Again, I wished there were more ingredients, but this still was a lovely filling meal https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=893LGBsehk1FpcT3reGgeg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. SERVICE Because we used Postmates, I honestly couldn't speak directly to the eatery's service. Thankfully, Postmates delivered our food within 45 minutes, received everything in our order, the food was still warm, and the driver was friendly and nice. Maybe when we were able to return to restaurants, I could report back then. PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) Obviously not an issue in this case. However, they shared a small parking lot along with several other businesses. Otherwise, there was metered and timed parking along the main drag of Hyperion Ave. and all surrounding residential streets. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Because I ordered delivery, I honestly could speak on this. From what I could recall based on the countless times I drove by this business, it appeared to be more of a takeout business with a handful of indoor dining, plenty of natural lighting through the large glass windows and doors, and couldn't say anything about indoor lighting, TV, or music. Maybe I'll have the opportunity at another time to check it out. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL As much as I loved Greek/Mediterranean food and saw their bold distinctive marquee sign whenever I drove by almost on a daily basis, it never clicked in my mind to eat at Meze, and now found myself scratching my head "why". The portion size was very sharable and hearty meals on their own, I was generally fine with what seemed like slightly high prices, and the menu was varied with a wide selection of meats and types of meal. I'm certain to visit them again to explore the menu but hoped for at least a takeout order just to check out the actual building. And, it was always a pleasure to support a mom & pop small business. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $25.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with some indoor limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers.  COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination.  While I was here eating my food in this establishment a month ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. But this isn't strictly enforced. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is incredibly small. They have valet parking. I urge you to park on the street. However, be wary of the signs. On one side, there is a no parking sign on Wednesdays from 12PM - 3PM. On the other side, it says no parking on Thursdays from 12PM - 3PM. Basically don't go there on Monday and Tuesday (they are closed) and Wednesday and Thursdays for horrible street parking. It is a shame that a cute mom and pop restaurant closed. I am sad that I did not know about it sooner. I would have came more frequently. They have been opened since 1948. Very impressive! Food: I ordered a baklava, spanakopita, and gyro sandwich. The house made baklava went perfect with my coffee the next day. A delicious start to a new day. The baklava combines layers of honey-soaked crisp phyllo pastry and a cinnamon-scented nut mixture with pistachios, walnuts, and hazelnut. To me, nothing rivals homemade baklava. The texture of crispy and flaky phyllo pastry. The crunchy filling. And the warm honey syrup. It is all I want in a dessert / breakfast. The spanakopita was very delicious and filling. This spanakopita had sauteed spinach, feta cheese and seasonings, all wrapped up in phyllo dough and baked until golden brown and crisp. It's the perfect blend of spinach, cheese, onions, and herbs in a buttery crust. It was very savory. The gyro sandwich was so mouthwatering. My gyro sandwich included succulent, marinated, and seasoned lamb and beef grilled to perfection. Then it was wrapped up with fresh tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and feta cheese in warm, soft, and slightly chewy pita, and slathered in delicious homemade creamy tzatziki sauce. I got a pistachio yogurt bar from their mini deli and market area. It was so nutty, creamy, and rich. Perfect for a hot summer's day. I love that they use real pistachio with yogurt to make it. None of the fake artificial stuff was used. Glad I didn't offer my close friend a bite of this otherwise he would have suffered a severe allergic reaction in the restaurant. That would have made the dining experience incredibly memorable, and not in a good way LOL I love that they have a complimentary water station for customers to grab as much water as they want. Staff: The staff here are very kind, friendly, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

After leaving DTLA to work in the suburbs, I haven't been back and sad to say, it took a looming permanent closure to bring me back. What I loved about the place is still tried and true: a free parking lot (just need to tip the valet) and delicious Greek good. I don't eat lamb so my go to back then was the fish sandwich. I got it again, over 10 years later, and it is still as good as remembered. Prices have doubled (what can you expect in our current economy T_T), but the portion is still generous and the food still fresh and yummy. I brought BF and we ordered a spread enough for a family of four: spanakopita, tiropita, sausage appetizer, gyro sandwich, beef kefta patties sandwich (they were out of the beef kebab), fish sandwich, chicken kebab plate, and loukoumades dessert. Everything was fresh, light and delicious (okay, the dessert was a little too sweet for me)! We also grabbed a $3.99 baguette from the connected market. If you're planning on coming for one last visit before they close that first weekend of May 2025, make sure to come early and queue in the front of the store. The line will move and there should still be plenty of seating available after you order. If you come within the last 30 minutes before closing, you'll have to order to go. The employees here are still as courteous and friendly as ever. We were also jazzed to be graced with the presence of Chrys Chrys himself on our visit. We will miss you, Papa Cristo's!

Uber Delivery I have…read morebeen eating here (in person and delivery) for many years. I love their gyro plate and all the fixin' that come with it. So many sides to choose from, just depends on what mood I am in. I wish I had written reivews in the past, because unfortunately the price and quality doesn't seem the same for my usual plate, but some of the other items were really good. I placed a delivery order on Uber eats. We ordered: Calamari Pan Seared Veggies Penne with Butter and Parmesan (BOGO) Lemon Chicken Pita Sandwich Gyro Plate Appetizers: Calamari - there was A LOT of calamari in this order. It took us a couple of sittings to eat it all. I even took some to work the next day. My only issue was that it seemed over fried so it lost the texture of the squid inside and I wasn't too fond of the sauce that it came with. Pan Seared Veggies - These were quite good! My toddler loved the broccoli. There was zucchinni, squash, mushrooms, onions, carrots and broccoli. It was seasoned very well and the broccoli had a nice char at the tops. Entrees: Penne with Butter and Parmesan - They should add garlic to that as well. I really enjoyed that part. Definitely a lot of butter, but it settled to the bottom so the noodles weren't too greasy. Toddler loved it.. but there sure was a lot of it. It comes with a little side of bread with cheese on it as well Lemon Chicken Pita Sandwich - My husband really liked this. He basically ate it 2 nights in a row. He really liked how the chicken tasted but he questioned the random 2 fries they added into the pita (he thought they were rougue fries that fell in until he saw it in the 2nd pita as well). Gryo Plate - House salad and Rice Pilaf So I'm not sure if this was an Uber thing or from the restaurant, but the base price did NOT include the sides. All sides were an additional $3 and up and you were required to pick 2. The base price was $23.95, then with 2 $3 sides it came out to $30 for my plate. I still got it because they have my favorite gyros. It definitely came with a good amount of protein, but it was strange that I didn't get a salad dressing, just 2 containers of tzatziki. It just didn't quite taste as good as before. Maybe it was on off day, but this dish was very disappointing since I spent so much on it. They do have the BOGO offers though, that was nice.

We're a family that loves cheese, so we went for all three cheese appetizer options. We got the Sizzling Feta, the Grilled Halloumi, and the Saganaki. We jokingly asked the server if it was a mistake to get so many appetizers, to which he firmly replied, "You like cheese. I can tell. You'll eat this, no problem." When I tell you we cleared those plates, I mean we absolutely demolished them. We loved all three! The Halloumi won as the overall favorite, but it was a fierce debate with strong support for each dish. Based on the Yelp reviews talking about how good the lamb is, I got the Lamb Souvlaki sandwich. It was delicious! The lamb was incredibly well-cooked, quite tender and very flavorful. The whole package of the pita, with the lamb balanced against the tzatziki and salad, was fantastic. If you're a meat-eater, I highly recommend it. If you're a vegetarian, my family also really enjoyed the Falafel sandwich and the Spanakopita. The Spanakopita was made like a turnover and its pastry was super buttery, perfectly light and flaky. The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, nicely moist. It was a hit! The service was very quick and the staff was very friendly. While my family initially raised their eyebrows at the restaurant (it's sandwiched between a motel and a car wash), they were converted by the cheese and were devotees by the time we finished our entrees. We loved it!

Yesterday afternoon, I was in the mood to try something different, as I often am, and that's how I…read moreended up at Aliki's Greek Taverna near LAX. The only minor issue I ran into was parking. At first, I thought the restaurant didn't have its own parking lot since it's connected to a small hotel. The restaurant itself is easy to spot from the outside and isn't confusing to find at all, but I wasn't sure where guests were supposed to park. I ended up parking farther away and walking over. Once inside, I noticed a sign mentioning restaurant parking and learned that customers can park in the hotel's lot. I mention this only to save future customers a little confusion--it wasn't a big deal at all, and I quickly moved my car closer. The restaurant itself is relatively small and connected to one of those cozy hotels you often see around the LAX area. It has the feel of a hidden local spot rather than a busy tourist destination, which honestly adds to its charm. I arrived around 5:30 PM and was surprised to find the restaurant nearly empty. There were only a couple of occupied tables, and only one more arrived while we were there. Honestly, I don't know what people are thinking because they're missing out on something special. I was dining with my 8-year-old nephew, one of those kids who survives almost exclusively on chicken nuggets, noodles, ranch, and other familiar foods. Getting him to try something new is usually a challenge. I ordered him a chicken gyro, and he absolutely loved it. I jokingly told him the tzatziki sauce was ranch, and from that point on he was completely sold. For myself, I ordered the moussaka. I chose it purely for the experience, not because I expected to love it. It turned out to be one of the most delicious restaurant dishes I've had in months. Seriously, months. The layers of eggplant, meat, and creamy béchamel came together perfectly. It was rich, comforting, and unforgettable. The funniest part? My nephew kept asking for more of my food. He was convinced the eggplant was chicken and ended up eating nearly half of my moussaka. If an extremely picky 8-year-old enjoys a dish like that, I think that says everything. We also ordered the lamb souvlaki, which was outstanding. Tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. This place is a true hidden gem. The food was exceptional, the service was friendly, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. Our bill came to about $86 before tip for three entrées and two Cokes, and honestly, it was some of the best money I've spent on food all month. Will I be back? Absolutely. In fact, I'm already planning to return within the next few weeks. If you've never tried Greek food before, this is a great place to start.

This cozy neighborhood spot (formerly Freedman's) has that perfect casual-yet-vibrant vibe--think breezy Greek taverna meets LA cool--with excellent charcoal-grilled dishes and a great all-Greek wine list. The service was genuinely amazing. Our server Petra took incredible care of us from start to finish--attentive, knowledgeable, and warm without being over-the-top. And shoutout to the incredible bartender Penny. The whole team made us feel right at home. We went family-style and ordered a fantastic spread: * The lamb was a highlight--tender, perfectly grilled, and packed with flavor * Saganaki was cheesy, crispy, and fun. * Branzino came beautifully grilled with bright lemon orzo--fresh, flaky, and spot-on. * Mushrooms were earthy and well-seasoned. * Crispy fries were addictive. * We ended on a sweet note with honey balls (those little fried dough bites drizzled in honey--crispy, sticky, and addictive) and the baklava pie. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and meant for sharing. Portions lean toward the smaller side (typical for meze-style Greek plates), so ordering a variety works perfectly for a group. Greekman's hits that sweet spot of quality ingredients, simple execution done right, and welcoming hospitality. Whether you're in the vine-covered patio, intimate dining room, or at the speakeasy-style bar, it's a winner. We'll definitely be back--highly recommend!

I had the chicken souvlaki (which was super tasty) with a big piece of pita (fresh) and the herbed rice (also very tasty), as well as the very lemony potatoes, which was crisp and yes, lemony, but not too sour, just the right amount. We also got the honey balls, which were sort of churro-ish but balls. The place was also nice and clean (though a little too dark if, like me, you get there early and have to kill time before the rest of your party arrives, so you try to read, but can't), and the staff was helpful and friendly. So, what do you need to be prepared for? Well, they usually serve stuff family style. Because of this, things don't come out at all once. In our case, we got the pita a good 10-15 minutes before the chicken. But while this would normally be a blemish, it wasn't because not only did my friends tell me this would happen, but so did our server. Which is why I'll go again, especially since I now know what to expect. One last note: the place is in a strip mall, and while I had no problem finding a spot, my friends had to go elsewhere.
