Hummus & Falafel Plate
Rhea M.

Some of the freshest food you'll have in Los Angeles. Idk why some of the comments are expecting authentic food when the chef is from Louisiana lol, but his take on the cuisine is amazing. He treats the flavors well and you can tell how thought out the menu is. We didn't have a wait since we got there around opening, but at 12:30 there was a bit of a wait. We ordered the beet sandwich and falafel plate. Explosion of flavor of each and every ingredient tastes like they plucked just 5 minutes ago. Everything is layered and complimented well. My only compliant in my beet sandwich, the egg was much deeper in the sandwich versus being up top. Absolutely come and check it out.

Apparently this place used to be way more casual, where you'd order at the window and then seat yourself. But now, the hostess will seat you! I love how it's only outdoor seating here, with plenty of string lights that make the ambience feel very...European? Magical? Like you're dining in Italy? It was giving Owen Wilson in Midnight in Paris - right in the middle of Atwater Village haha. We ordered: HUMMUS & FRIEND CHICKEN: Incredible. The amount of different textures and tastes on this plate was ART. It was like a painting truly. The chicken was fried to perfection...had a hint of Christmas to it, that we couldn't place our finger on. Nutmeg? Idk, but it tasted festive. Paired with the pickled vegetables, tahini sauce, chickpeas..ooo la la it was a pure Remy from Ratatouille moment. One of these plates can feed 2, because it is HUGE. FRENCH FRIES w FETA: Also great! Never thought I'd love feta with my fries, but this was DOPE. The seasoning on the fries was very complex as well. It's a huge side, so ofc we took most of it to-go. The staff was plenty friendly, and service was pretty fast. I'd definitely come back!

Chicken covered in sauce

Father's Day Atwater location. I called on the phone was told chicken doesn't come with sauce it's on the side. I was also told I can switch sauce on website. Well you can't switch sauce on their website and there is no notes to post for diet restrictions. My wife was treating me and the order came back with sauce on the chicken. It was delivered plus I tipped the driver. Tossed everything in the trash. I wasn't going to post anything but this is NOT the first time this has happened that's why I called to make sure and communicated my orders.

One of my favorite restaurants in Atwater Village! Dune uses fresh, quality ingredients that really shine on each dish. My go to for lunch has been the steak gyro. The grilled steak and veggies in the warm, fluffy pita work so well and make for a perfect bite. The hummus meza plate has great variety and is another staple. To order we went to the window and were served at the outdoor seating. Great service, cool ambiance, and incredible food!

Dune is delicious! Produce always seems super fresh and the chicken is juicy and well seasoned. As someone who is gluten free I appreciate that they can sub out the pita for some cucumber slices on the mezze pIate. I also love their mint iced tea. Our food typically comes out quickly, but my one complaint is that it's only outside seating and relatively limited. I know that their brick and mortar space is not big enough to accommodate inside seating, but it would be so nice to have a location with a vibey indoor area. Either way, I will continue to come back and always bring friends along with!

Small Mediterranean eatery/Café located on the busy strip of Atwater Village. There's an ordering window which you can order and take out, but there's also some limited seating out front if you want to eat there. The food here is fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. There's also a pretty obvious nod to the 1965 science fiction novel 'Dune'. (Look up the original cover, haha) It's slightly casual in that after order you sit down and wait for them to bring you your food. Of course there's a server that helps you if you wanna order more you need anything I've had this place bookmarked for a long time and been wanting to go. I finally got to go here for dinner because I was going to a concert in the area at The Greek and thought this was a perfect place to eat prior to show. I ended up ordering a falafel plate with some mint tea. I thought everything was well prepared and really delicious. The falafel had great texture and flavor and the hummus was very flavorful as well. The entire plate was definitely a lot of food, but not too much. I still felt light walking up that hill to get to The Greek. Overall, the experience was great pretty quick. The parking in the area wasn't a problem because I was there on Tuesday night, which is not as busy as the weekend. I was able to find parking almost right out in front of the restaurant.

I found myself in Glendale and had this place book marked for a while now. It's a walk up order and they have outdoor seating you can wait in line for. We ordered the fried chicken hummus plate and a side of fries. We also ordered a rosemary lemonade. The lemonade was just ok pretty boring actually, wouldn't get again. As for the food, everything was fresh and flavorful. The chicken was moist and well seasoned, the fries were nicely seasoned and fresh. The hummus was tasty with all the sides including the cabbage etc...this is enough for 2 people for sure. Thanks Dune, you did not disappoint!

I have had this place bookmarked for years!!! I recently saw this place online so I finally tried it out. Visiting Glendale Blvd. parking can be tricky, but not impossible. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this is not indoor dining. It is strictly outdoor seating with a welcoming atmosphere. Once our order was taken you pay upfront which is weird...with tip of course, which I guess goes to the kitchen and not the servers? I'm not entirely sure. I ordered the falafel sandwich and the fries to share. The sandwich was very healthy and so filling I could hardly eat it like a sandwich haha. I liked the seasoning of the fries and they give a lot of it.

I love this food but when I'm missing over half my order via Door Dash, it's disappointing. Getting credit does not quite make up for missing items.

I love Dune! I've tried the beef plate and chicken plate (both doordashed so I really need to try in person) but even with doordash, it is incredible. The chicken or beef are really flavorful, spices on point but the true stars are the sides. The freshness from the herby salad, the acidity from the cabbage salad and the two little peppers (hit or miss on if it delivers spice) complement the food so well. The pita that it comes with is very fluffy and is also glazed with an herb oil. The rice is standard so nothing that stands out but nothing bad about it. Unfortunately dont have anything about service or ambiance since I doordashed it twice now but will definitely recommend going as the food is so good and I can't wait to go in person.

And I could and should come back here more often as the food is really delicious. But again, I really just got back for a quick lunch on the go. The fried chicken Shawarma sandwich was unbelievably tasty and tender! I don't understand why I don't order more often from here. PREVIOUS REVIEW2 Dune remains high on the list of middle eastern restaurants. This time, we ordered a takeout for all and were very happy with the quality of the food. Hummus Falafel Plate, Hummus Grilled Chicken Plate, Mezze Plate with Chicken were all very tasty, on point and prepared in an appealing fashion. PREVIOUS REVIEW1 Marked on the todo list to be checked out. A beets sandwich and a falafel sandwich - from a wider selection of items on the menu. A little troublesome that the items for takeout cannot be ordered online but require a phone call - but in the end that's ok and should not deter you. The food was promptly ready. In regards to the specifics, the bread for the pickled beets sandwich for my taste was a bit to oily but otherwise the filling and ingredients were delicious. The falafel sandwich was also wonderful but - as the falafels themselves are rather on the dry side - would have benefitted from a touch more sauce ...

I guess this place was so hyped up to me that my expectations were too high. Overall the food was good, the plate was balanced of course, just how mediterranean food should be - the meat, rice, bread, salad, pickled stuffs, hummus, etc. The presentation was pleasant too. On the other hand, I did not expect the lamb to be in a patty form, it is not noted anywhere. The patties were ok, not anything that I would recommend (for context lamb is my favorite meat). Maybe I should try other dishes, some photos on here look very interesting, so I'll do that next time. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it deserves it. There is also a nice little outside sitting area. To summarize: was it good? Yes. Are there a lot of spots in the area that make lamb much better? Absolutely.

Sheldon R.

Some of the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. I ordered the Hummus and Falafel Plate (vegetarian) and the whole plate was a beautiful presentation with amazing flatbread and falafel. The service was decent for LA. The ambiance is an amazing outdoor seating venue that is very picturesque. We ate here around 11am when they opened on a Friday. It started getting packed around 12pm. Definitely recommend this place. Hummus + Falafel Plate: 5/5

I finally went in today and sadly, was not only disappointed, my fantasy of Falafel King was destroyed forever. I know Benito used to work for Falafel King, but this place is nothing like it. The service was horrible. The guy behind the little counter was not nice at all. In fact he was rude. And didn't like if you asked him questions. But that aside, sitting in this little tiny restaurant was not a good feeling. We were the only ones there. They have a seating area outside, I'm guessing for overflow - yet, the table and chairs were right there in the middle of the restaurant. Piled up. They didn't even bother to take it outside. Put all that aside - we get to the food. One of the best things Falafel King has were the "chips", which were battered slices of potatoes that were deep fried. These were slices of potato, they were potato chips. Thin. No "meat" on them, if you know what I mean. And sadly, they were fried either early this morning or last night. Terrible, cold, hard, no taste - not even salt. We move on the falafel - which tasted good. The taste of the falafel itself was good, but the oil dripping down my hand an face was not. I blame that on the oil not being hot enough when he put the falafel into the oil. Next, the actual shwarma is not really shwarma (like you all know it). There was no revolving slab of meat where the fat melts into the meat and makes it so so special. No. This was a little baggy of already cooked meat with no spices on it thrown on the plancha and heated up. Hard and tasteless. Very disappointing. I picked it out of my pita and ate the salad with tehina and spicy eggplant (which WAS tasty). The pita is also a thin hard pita - not the nice fluffy type. I didn't finish my food, and my friend didn't finish the food, as you can see in the pictures. Sorry to give it a 1 - but to say you have ANY connection to "Falafel King" is a disgrace. Sorry if I sound brutal. I tell it like it is.
