If you can't tell from my previous reviews, I'm in love with Agra! I've been coming here since I was in middle school, now married with kids. I live in OC now and this place is STILL my favorite Indian spot. I make my friends and family bring it down here for me because it's honestly better than any spot I've found in OC Paneer masala stays fire Veg biriyani so flavorful Veg korma bomb mango lassi can never go wrong Samosas are solid Onion baji is not my cup of tea even the saag paneer is fire and I'm not a saag paneer fan All the lentils from the lunch specials are also great everytime I tried them . Very filling portions , very reasonable prices , I hate when people talk about the "ambiance" or lack of customers when 40 Uber Eats drivers come all the time when I eat. It's obviously a popular takeout spot. And again randomly to I'll be there and it's packed past 11pm. Also who wants an ambiance when eating Indian food? Let me enjoy in peace haha read more

Dang I wish I could give this Indian restaurant 5 stars but sadly they were def a 2.5-3 star place. I ordered delivery for two lunch specials- chicken tandoori and tikka masala and I got to say the masala was way better than the chicken tandoori. Not only that but the rice was hard and old- I had to reheat with water on the stove- the chicken was dry, dry, dry, no flavor except for random green chile sprinkled on it. The naan was good and hot- the veggie options were very small but flavorful. Who can go wrong with veggie soups? I don't know if I'll give them another try but please Agra make fresh food please. I went last night with my wife and one friend. We ordered a very small amount of food. The portions were really small little dishes, we had two samosas, 3 cups of chai, and a little bit of Indian bread and all of this came out to over $70. Also, the waitress seemed like a cold robot. Came here to celebrate a colleague's birthday with 6 people total for lunch at her recommendation. Pros: free parking on the lot, nice decor, comfortable seating, great affordable prices @ $12.95 lunch combos. I've been to Indian places where the naan cost extra and here the naan was free. Cons: I had the mild Lamb Sagwala, but should've ordered the medium because the food needed more kick. I changed my order from medium to mild only bc my friend said the medium may be too hot for me. However, when my colleague had me taste her medium lamb, I didn't notice much difference. What was all the fuss about the hot difference? I was surprised the food came in a cafeteria style platter. Our server seemed unhappy, glum and in a bad mood. When a colleague asked what was in one of the chicken dishes, she replied, "Chicken and a cream sauce." My colleague expected more info than what was already evident on the menu, and she was not forthcoming. Not crowded. Service was slow to start. We still gave our server a 20% tip. I haven't ordered from Agra in at least 3 years (been ordering from India Restaurant)and today I decided to give it a try. I read a bunch of reviews and didn't believe other reviewers saying the flavors are muted and watery. I ordered a dinner special for one with lamb vindaloo and upgraded my naan to aloo paratha. Well.... It seems like they have a different cook now or something. I've been going to this restaurant on and off for the last 15 years and it's always been really good and on the spicier side. What I got today, was not lamb vindaloo. It was a tomato based stew with lamb and potatoes. The sourness of tomato was overpowering, there was no heat (vindaloo is a spicy dish!) and the spices were so muted, it tasted like a stew. The aloo paratha didn't really have any noticeable potatoes inside. The only thing that was good was my samosa. Sadly, I will not be going back. I have my own issues with India Restaurant (the tandoori chicken was NOT fresh last time I got it), but as far as Silverlake goes, they are our only choice that's open till 1 am. Indian food for the mild taste buds out there. The menu is extensive with protein variations and an excellent vegetarian focus. Unfortunately, this is were their acalades seem to end. The robust Indian cuisine seemingly is greatly lacking here. Many flavors are muted and the absence of the depth of spices is throughout much of their menu. Indicating medium heat taste nearly like no real heat at all. Forget about even asking for "Medium Spicy." There was no real difference. I have been afraid to ask for spicy for subsequent tries thinking it could be an "On/Off" switch. The lack of spice also goes hand in hand with the lack of seasoning. Along with muted flavors, many dishes can also lack salt. Although, somewhat healthy tasting if sodium is an animal you are looking out for, this detail simply isn't a good indicator for their respect for the cuisine. Agra's website has a very intuitive method of online ordering. It is clean and simple to use. Agra is open late on evenings, and are quick to pump out your orders. Just be aware that Agra's menu is a bit on the lighter affair of any expectations for Indian Cuisine that is full of flavors, spices, and heat. read more

I'm happy Agra Cafe opened in our Silverlake neighborhood. The restaurant is well appointed and the food is superior in quality. Just start with the naan and work your way up the menu and you'll find an expert cook and staff inside the kitchen. From the level of service, I would assume this is not the first restaurant of this family. The samosas are wonderful. As for my seasoned palate recommendation, I suggest the mutton (goat) curry. It's rich, flavorful and satisfying. Best eaten with rice, naan or a combination of both. I also love the curried cauliflower with peas. Their eggplant dishes are superb. Not particularly spicy even at the hottest level. Also got the lamb samosa. Came in a styrofoam container labeled lamb. I would bet a lot of money it's not lamb. It tastes like beef. It's also bland. It came with a green mint sauce was was also neon green but tasted okay. It had a chutney as well that tasted off or synthetic or just not good. In the end I ate the not-lamb lamb samosas and threw away the curry after one bite. The people rating this place 5 stars must be fake. I don't order takeout often, but when I do, it's usually to satisfy a craving, and my craving is frequently Agra Cafe's Tikka masala. The food is delicious! I always order the chicken tikka masala, which is so full of flavor and delicious. Always arrives hot -- well packaged, they use sealed plastic containers. And their garlic naan never fails. Perhaps it's pretty basic, ordering those two items, but it's perfect every time. And I've tried plenty of other items on the menu and they're all fantastic as well! In terms of service, they're quick and always get things out and delivered sooner than estimated. The Agra Cafe is hidden in the corner of a strip mall, and isn't impressive from the outside. BIT DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU!!! You will be missing out on some wonderful Indian food and a very good price. The samosas are incredible. The outside is crispy and crunchy, but the inside is soft well seasoned potatoes and peas. They are so good! The chicken tikka masala is tasty and rich (yes I know tikka masala isn't super authentic Indian food, so sue me. It tastes great!) I decided to head east of my usual spots cause I wasn't too satisfied with the Indian fares near me. The place was empty at lunch time and regretted coming here thinking it may not be very good. After I got my food (chicken korma and saag paneer) I was surprised how good the food was. The spices and flavor were perfect to my taste. I don't really like very salty foods so their seasoning was just right. And their naan was chewy and flaky the way I like it. I'd venture out to order here again. The korma is delicious.
