Incredible vegan burritos, vegan tacos, flavorful salsa, and fresh chips. Absolutely coming back when I'm in the area.

One of the vegan OGs in Los Angeles. Had the Big Vegan Burrito and Big Vegan Torta. They're not kidding about the size. Portions are probably the most generous of any vegan restaurant I've been to. They don't skimp on the meat either. For reference, the burrito is a tad bit bigger than a Chipotle burrito and the torta completely fills the inside of a half-size takeout container. You get to choose from 6 meat options for the filling. I got al pastor. It was decent. It also comes with pineapple chunks, so if you're someone who's repulsed by pineapple on pizza, be warned that this has the same taste. Highly recommend, 10/10. i've tried tacos from cena at smorg and liked it but didn't leave a huge impression UNTIL xmas eve. i needed some food to take to take to a party and it was all last minute. i tried calling Borreguitas to ask if they had any tamales available but they didn't pick up any of my calls. i've only ever tried vegan tamales from them so i felt like i was screwed. and for some reason, i remembered about Cena and checked their instagram and they were open and had tamales. they didn't have 1/2 dozen of red available so opted for the green and also ordered a pozole. and when i tell you..these were the best vegan tamales and vegan pozole i've ever tried!! i was so upset that ive been going to Borre for tamales and pozole this entire time when Cena literally shoots them out of the water. not to be dramatic but it was like a sign that borre didn't pick up any of 10 calls so i could find my way to Cena :) read more

Awful! I ordered last night after not having this spot in a year or so, and wow it's gross. 4 taco plate was dry flavorless "meats" and they didn't put the Crema on it nor provide salsas. The beans and rice bland and gummy texture--tortilla being only redeeming quality. Chips were good but healthy, and the "medium" and "mild" salsa (1 small each) tasted weird also--both were weird consistency, the red being peppery and green (bright green) reminiscent of mint chutney you'd get with an Indian samosa. Although this is not a sit down restaurant, I interacted with one of the staff and I really appreciated them. Nice guy. You order there or ahead (best) and you find street parking right outside and text them that you're there and they'll bring out your food. There are so many meat options I didn't know which one to choose. I got carne asada for my nachos and chicken for my burrito. I think chicken was the better option. Nachos honestly wasn't that great. Looked better than it taste. Burrito was good. I didn't get any wow factors but the burrito took care of my hunger and cravings. I fell in love with the cena vegan location in Whittier and decided to give this location a try on Uber Eats. The menu was even larger and the great quality food was the same as the Whittier location. I ordered the Plato de cena vegan which is my favorite with asada, and the pineapple cucumber agua Fresca--which is so refreshing and not too sweet. I will always return back to cena vegan simply because of the taste and freshness of the tortillas, seriously a standout! Would recommend! read more

This is one of my favorite places to visit during pop ups and I even have been to their old location in Highland Park! Last weekend, I attended the Vegan Street Fair in Westwood and paid them a visit. I had their nachos with Barbacoa "meat" and it was so wonderful. The chips were very crunchy and crisp and fresh tasting. The nachos were fully loaded the savory faux meat, guacamole and the most indulgent crema sauce that really brought everything together. I opted for a medium salsa and it was so perfectly spiced. The tomatoes were also very juicy and balanced out the faux meat well. The staff were so friendly and prompt, ensuring the food came out quickly without sacrificing the quality of the food. It's such a great value, only being $16, which felt like quite a steal considering how much food was given and that they were at a pricy street food festival! Definitely recommend paying them a visit if you see them at any popup! read more

Please be extra mindful, as if you are truly vegan (not just plant-based), their Big Vegan Cookie lists white sugar as one of the ingredients. There is no information to assure whether or not this is made from sugar beet or sugar cane withOUT bone char. Because I do not see "vegan certified" anywhere on this product, I will not re-purchase. The only exception to this would be if the bakers reached out to me directly and assured me that it is truly vegan. Additionally, their chips are hard, greasy, and were not delivered as a fresh batch. They'd definitely been sitting around a good while. read more

My first time trying their food and it did not disappoint. The quality, quantity of the food, drinks and the salsa were excellent! I tried the horchata, Bug Vegan Burrito with the mushroom guisado while my husband tried the Big Vegan Burrito with the carne asada and a side of fries. The red salsa is spicy, it has a kick and sooo good! The green salsa is more on the mild but still delicious. I appreciate that they gave us extra salsa on the side. The horchata was probably one of the best I have had with the flavor being closer to regular horchata but without the dairy. The burrito is massive and super filling. They do not sell you short of ingredients because my burrito had plenty or rice, beans, guacamole, and mushrooms guidado and it was still warm. Our order took about 15 minutes to be ready so the wait wasn't long at around 3pm on a Sunday. Order and pickup: you order ahead (they have a link on here but make sure it's for the correct location). Once you order they will notify you (via text and/or email). You can park right in front of their location to pickup which is across from the park and the sign is posted on the black building with a mural painted on it. They have the phone number posted so you text the that you have arrived and they bring your order to you. The staff was super sweet who brought the order out. If you are looking for a plant based spot, without missing the flavor and texture of meat and dairy- don't sleep on this spot. First, you gotta order ahead with the QR code because this is a pick up location. Once your order is ready they notify you and you text them when you are right out front (no need to get off your car), they take it to you. Curbside delivery for the win! Location is right across from Lincoln Park. Don't blink because you'll miss the door. Building is all black and right next to the Mission. Food was delicious. Plant-based/vegan taco spot. It's located out of one of those ghost kitchens (I think that's what they're called). Basically you pull up the menu on a scannable QR code out front and you order. When I went, I was actually greeted by a person because they were bringing out another order so I was able to order from them directly. The vibe is pretty similar to other ghost kitchens if you've ever been to one. After putting my order a few minutes later, the food came out and it's pretty much take out exclusively. I ordered the 100% plant based Taco Trio - "carne asada", barbacoa, "birria de res. Lots of great flavors on freshly made tortillas. Each taco and each bite was super delicious. I'm not vegan, but I could eat these all day. If you are vegan or are trying to cut back a lot on meat (like me) then this is a fantastic spot to get tacos. read more

How I have not reviewed one of my favorite spots in SoCal is beyond me... Cena Vegan makes my second favorite Mexican food in Los Angeles (runner up to El Cocinero in Van Nuys). I've had the pleasure of enjoying them at Vegan Exchange, various pop ups and most recently at a Sunday Funday via Smorgasburg with the squad #PartyOfSix (+One) The burritos are something to not just admire, but enjoy. The Big Vegan Burrito is loaded with beans, guac, rice, pico de gallo (so fresh), salsa, cashew based chipotle crema and your choice of their Barbacoa, Carnitas, Birria (these three all gluten free) or Pollo Asado, Carne Asada or Al Pastor. And the the options like the portions do not disappoint! I couldn't even completely finish my order of Big Vegan Nachos... Which after devouring the first few bites I remember my first time enjoying these - definitely better for sharing. At Cena Vegan you can enjoy Tacos, Bowls, Nachos, Burritos, Sides, Drinks (Agua Frescas, Soda, Water), one of the best cookies ever and Platos. Orders are typically fast even when busy, but roughly diez minutos. Fresh hot flavorful street style Mexican eats that happens to be 1000% plant-based. If at Smorgasburg, you'll usually catch them on the far back row of vendors from the entrance - often next to Man Eating Plant Food Bus. Additionally they do catering and have a permanent location via Lincoln Heights that's open all 7 days of the week. Honestly, do not know what the hype is about. I've heard raving reviews by numerous people, and I finally decided to order today The Pollo and Asada tacos. The meat was not flavorful or in my opinion not delicious. I will say this their medium and spicy salsas are absolutely delicious!! . My favorite item that I ordered from there was the salsa and tostada chips . Which I think it's pretty sad for a place that advertises Mexican vegan food . I ordered Asada and Pollo tacos ,rice, beans, the spiciest salsa they have there the medium salsa they have there and Horchata. Service was quick and easy. Staff professional. I'm bummed leaving this review but it must be done. This is a ghost kitchen so maybe it would be better at their main restaurant if they have one(?) Food- the menudo is very small for $14 but I don't have any issue paying that if it was good. Unfortunately it was overly spicy and had no hominy at all? It's a soup with two ingredients and it was literally missing one of the ingredients... 2/5. The best dish I had was the tamale combo which came with two tamales, beans and rice. The tamales were very big and delicious, I do want to warn you that they put some untraditional (to Mexican tamales) things in there such as carrots, olives & potatoes but it definitely worked. The beans and rice were also well made. 5/5 To pick up your park on the curb and call the number posted on the wall. Their burritos are huge and the friendly service is great because I wouldn't have known that I could do half-and-half on the proteins in the burrito. They only offer seitan or soy proteins which is a little disappointing due to there being other actual plant alternatives like mushrooms, jackfruit, walnut crumble, etc - i think those would be good additions. I have had Cena Vegan several times now and it never disappoints! I've had the nacho boat, burrito, and tacos in all the meats. I prefer the chicken, so I tend to gravitate towards that, but all of their vegan meats are great! This location is to pick up only, which is good when you want to get your food to go, but I recently learned they have a location within a food hall, I believe, in Whittier, which I hope to try soon, because other than these two locations, I remember having to wait to go to festivals or other events to get Cena Vegan. I placed an order online for pickup, as this is not a dine in restaurant. I ordered 2 asada fries with mushrooms and pollo asado as the protein, 2 mushroom guisado plates which came with fresh made corn tortillas and 1 order of potato taquitos. The total came to a little over $70.00 which is reasonable for the amount of food, The portions are generous and very filling. Just make sure to add your own salt to it because there was no seasoning on it. I ate it at home so I was able to season it to my liking which made it great! The beans and rice are very authentic, good flavor as long as you add some salt. Overall my family enjoyed the food and we have lots of leftovers for tomorrow. I recommend! Cena used to only be available as a pop-up or food truck. The people complaining it's a ghost kitchen need to shut it. Be grateful it's available regularly at a consistent location! We used to have to wait until they were at vegan food events and wait in long lines! I'm very glad Cena is available any day of the week to pick up and on UberEats. The food cannot be beat. It is so difficult to find authentic and delicious vegan Mexican food. This place nails it! I love the pozole and tamales in the winter. The burritos, tacos, and plates are great any time of year. Service was great! Food was amazing. So I ended up ordering the Big Vegan Burrito Barbacoa(GF) and I also got the Big Vegan Torta with Al Pastor which was recommended by several people on Yelp! The torta de al pastor is a must and I am grateful for Yelps existence because I would have not ordered it. Both burrito and torta are a pretty good size and the portion of the FAKE meat was perfect. I went to the Lincoln Heights location and was a bit confused. I had to walk around to the back of the building and then another worker had to help me get to where I needed to go in order to place an order. I met a nice lady who placed my order - I can't recall her name - but she was so AWESOME and helpful with placing my order.
