The man. The legend. Sometimes he shows up, sometimes he doesn't, and people still line up an hour early just in case. He's been doing this for years and the hype somehow never dies. People bring blankets just to wait for his elote. It's that serious. The corn is unmatched and lives up to every bit of the hype. He sets up right outside a parking lot and you eat it however you want, in your car, standing around, or curbside. Simple, iconic, and absolutely worth it. Service: Friendly and focused, once he's there Food/Drinks: Elote is cracked, perfectly seasoned, completely unmatched Ambiance: Parking lot 10/10 Legendary elote with legendary hype that actually delivers

Went to visit the legendary corn man, a hard working little street vendor that sells elotes and esquites. Came in around 11:09 and parked in the adjacent parking lot which provided free parking. Waited in line for about an hour, but went by fast due to being with friends. When it was our turn, it was almost 12:00 when we were getting our corn which was almost an hour but totally worth it. Asked for esquites with chile and limon. You have to ask for limon, I wasn't prompted and I love citrus so asking for some is great and there's no extra charge. Ended up being $5 bucks and we were told that they were running low on corn too. They also accommodated us because we ordered 6 esquite to go. Despite being called corn man, he also sells drinks if you need a fix for coke or water.

This corn is SO good. No exaggeration one of my favorite spots, and I've been coming to him for a long time because the flavor never misses. The only downside is that he now opens at 12 midnight instead of 11 PM, which can be a little inconvenient if you're craving it earlier. Prices also went up to $5 for a stick or a plate, which I noticed but honestly? Still worth it. The quality is there, the taste is there, and when I'm craving corn, this is still the spot. I'll definitely keep coming back because I love my corn and this man does it right.

These are literally the best elotes I've ever had in my life. And not just elotes but esquites too. The corn is soft and he prepares them better than any other place/person. And I've had my good share of having elotes/esquites since I can remember.

If you like unique food spots with some mind-blowing flavors, open odd hours of the day, you have to come visit Cornman. I initially read about Cornman and his corn cart on LA Times website and it turns out he is a legend. This gentleman and his son have been running this mexican corn cart, close to DTLA, for the last 20 some years. First time I tried their food 7 some years ago, I instantly fell in love. You gotta park in a dark parking lot, after 11 pm at night in a so so part of town. Then you get in a long line, but as you start approaching, you know food paradise is very close. I've tried their delicious corn on the cob, but I absolutely love their esquite bowl, filled with delicious corn and topped with mayo, spices, cheese and freshly squeezed lime or lemon. You mix it up with spoon in the parking lot and indulge on it right from the trunk of your car. The corn mixed with mayo, cheese and spices just creates that yummy happiness in your mouth that's just hard to describe. I've gone for 2 consecutive bowls before. It's outrageously good and from the legend of LA streets, the Corn Man himself! And don't forget to mention to him "Simon, con lemon". See you again soon, my guy!

Well worth the wait. So good and makes for a good late night snack or just to enjoy and experience some delicious corn.

Upping my review to 4 stars. I would give 5 stars if the corn man had an exact time he came. Even though yelp says 11:30pm, their Twitter account says 11:15pm, it varies and really depends. For the most part he usually comes between 11:30-11:50pm. Still delicious with tons of cheese! As of June 2024 Esquites $4 Champurrado $1.50

BEST ELOTE EVER!! I have been coming to Corn Man for years and it's always consistent. Whenever my craving for elote kicks in, I have to make a stop here. I waited about 1.5 hours in the cold and it was so worth it. The price for a bowl or corn on the cob has increased to $4. The line forms at around 11pm, but he does not arrive till around 12am. I usually get the elote in a bowl rather than on the cob since it is much more convenient. PERFECT for a late-night snack. -- Corn in a Bowl [5/5]: YUM. They put mayo, butter, chili powder, cheese, and a squeeze of lime juice on top. It is a bowl of deliciousness.

Okay, I love corn. Pretty much in all its forms (bourbon, popcorn, etc.). When I heard of this place, I knew I had to go. Because, when you hear of a place/person called 'The Corn Man', you know you're gonna get some corn. Well, elote and esquite, to be exact. The prices are great here! As of 4/2024, it's $4 each. The corn is pre-cooked or steamed and when you order, you just go over your options like if you want the spice or not and if you want to have some lime squeezed onto it. I got one of each - the elote and esquite. Essentially the same thing, just a different way of eating it. Same ingredients. Such a simple, but very delicious bite. Up there with as good as I've ever had. So, I was skeptical or just wasn't sure when I first saw the times listed. But they really do set up and start up around midnight. When you show up to the location around that time, you can definitely see the line forming, waiting for them to begin serving. It's pretty chill in line and people are generally friendly because we're all happy and excited to be trying this soon. From what it sounds like or what I gathered during my visit, this gentleman has been serving up corn for decades. If what I heard is correct, you gotta love the hustle and I love supporting folks like this. Definitely would like to come back and more often, but I think it's geared towards the night owls or people getting out of the bars because of the hours. And I live pretty far away.

    Cindy L.

I was super skeptical at first about waiting almost an hour in line for corn but it was like the best corn I've had. My friend and I showed up at around 12:40am and didn't get to buy some corn until 1:30am. I was getting pretty tired of waiting but when I got that fresh corn I was so happy. At first I didn't really mix it too much and just ate it and I thought it was alright but when I mixed all the toppings together with the cheese, butter, sour cream, chili, and lime it was phenomenal. The more I ate it the more addicting it was. I really liked the chili they put on top of the corn and it was definitely the star topping. However the corn itself very caloric considering the amount of butter they put on it but it's definitely amazing. My friend and I actually had some tacos too and we put the corn on top of the tacos and OMG please try this combo. The corn was super sweet which paired so well with the savory tacos. The corn man is also super kind and nice and we love supporting local businesses. I'll definitely be back but I'll probably try to come later into the night so the line isn't super long.

10/10 elote, probably the best corn I've ever had, and I consider myself a corn connoisseur! I just wish they were open more :'(. Line looks long but goes by pretty quickly!

Ask the Community - Corn Man

Are they open for business during the rain?

Typically when it rains he will do drive through service which is actually pretty awesome!

What time should I go there to avoid a long wait on a Sunday night? The later the better or the earlier the better?

There is always a line , he gets there around 11 to 1130pm, we've been there around 2am and the line was long... Just be prepared to wait , they are definitely worth it 👌

Hello, Are you available to serve at a party on Sun. 09/19?

    He has a Twitter @the_cornstation

What time does he open now?

I believe 11 pm but he's usually late and shows up after 11:15-20 pm

Is corn man still in LA? I am not sure if he returned to Mexico, but his corn is super good and I missed him.

    Still here

If you have been recently, does he wear a mask?

I went a week ago and he does not. He posted on his Twitter too that he doesn't wear a mask.

Does anyone know where and when to find him during the day? I remembering someone telling me at a church on Sundays?

He works during the day. So he only does this in the evening

Is he still there? If so, what time?

He usually comes around 11:30pm ish and the latest I've been there is around 1:30am

Does anyone know if they are opened?

Yes, they have been open throughout the pandemic!

Why do his hours say 11am - 3am? Is he really open at 11am now or did they just not pay attention to the am/pm part and hours are still as normal? Confused and really need an ELOTE! I'm from SD & they don't have them there! Haha 😊

He usually get there's around 11:15pm and goes Till about 2am or when he sales out.

Is this open during this time?

    yes he comes between 11:35-45pm

What time is he there on fridays?

He usually arrives between 11:15-11:30pm everyday

    Does he wear a mask?

According to his Twitter page, he doesn't. It says "Corn man will be arriving tonight at 11:15pm. if you feel uncofortable beign arround us for not using our masks or gloves please ramain at home. Corn Man does not need to be offended, threatened…

    Hi is he still around?

Yes he is! Rain or shine!

Is he still open right now?

    yes !

Is her currently open at the same time everyday since coronavirus?

    Yes

So is here all day and every day? Morning till late night? Because they says 10am?

He is there from 11pm to 3am on Saturday for sure, I've only been there on saturdays. Make sure you get there by 10 if you don't wanna wait an hour to get your corn, the line can get pretty long.

Does anyone know if he still posts up at night still? Despite the virus happening...

Every night until lockdown is over he said

    Is he still selling corn?

Yes he said everyday until the pandemic is done

Does the corn man set up during this quarantine? Its been too long 😩

Yes he's still there as usual

Walking over from Union Station is super easy, it's maybe a 5 minute walk. A few of us had heard amazing things about Cielito Lindo and how they have the BEST taquitos, so we were all excited. Luckily we got there right before the lunch rush so there was no line. They have a tiny alcove of an outdoor dining room, and we were able to snag enough tables and chairs (took up half the room) for all of us. They cook the taquitos to order so it took quite awhile for all of us to get our food. We all got the famous taquitos and some of us also got the combo with tamales. I was a tamale girl. My spinach tamale was pure mush, was it even cooked? I didn't see or taste spinach, I honestly don't know what was in it. The others who got tamales all hated them and commented that they just just wet messes. Literally none of us were wowed by the taquitos. They were very crispy and covered in the green avocado sauce, which I thought was decent, but the shredded beef inside had no seasoning and was dry. The combos come with refried beans and we all agreed the beans were the best part of the meal. The food here is pretty cheap, and I appreciate the historical aspect of it - slinging those taquitos since 1934! But it just wasn't good enough for me to ever go back, and I have definitely had better taquitos.

The DH is probably one of the best chonky burgers I've had in a long time. It reminded me of an elevated fancy Big Mac in the best way possible, probably because of the sesame bun. The dry aged patty was so juicy, flavourful and umami. The patty was seared to perfection with a caramelized crispy exterior and an incredibly succulent center. The kebabs being grilled looked wonderful and well-marinated. It's a long street stand with an electronic ordering system monitor in the middle. The man himself, Farhod, stands around the middle and cuts fine looking pieces of already grilled meat, to create platters and wraps for the customers. My friend and I asked him for a recommendation and he said we must try a ribeye plate, so we ordered a plate each. It took about 30 minutes for the plates to be prepared, as this place is busy. Right before the plates are given out and if you're standing by your plate, their signature move is to slice off a strip of ribeye and let you taste it right before receiving your plate. Nice touch! Each plate came with delicious rice, very fresh tasty salad, a crispy, very yummy large pita bread and a good size portion of the ribeye itself. Although the ribeye was pretty juicy, both me and my friends thought that the meat was over salted, in fact we even left some ribeye behind. Maybe it's a one-off, since these ribeyes came highly recommended, but that was our experience last night. Would consider coming back here to try their whet looked like a beautifully marinated, succulent chicken kebab. Parking situation is a bit crazy, with many cars double parking, but I guess the local police allow it, so no issues there. The customer service was pretty good. Will visit again.

I've had my brother and several friends say that it's good and since we were closer to this area for a pop up event, we dropped by and I finally had a chance to try it. We visited during the final game of the World Cup, so there was no more indoor dining, but there's a couple bench tables outside at the side of the building. Part of the building shades over the seating, so even on a pretty hot day, this worked in a pinch and there was a slight breeze too, thank goodness. Staff was helpful and and answered our questions. They also brought our order out to the tables outside, which was nice. They also took our trash and tray back when we were done too. Each table has ketchup, brown and spicy mustard if need be. Inside, you order and pay at the cashier, grab a number, and they bring it to you. There's a bunch of sausage links on display, as well as the sodas and you can see some of the beer that they have too. For our Sunday lunch, we got the: 1) Sunset Zero soda: -It's an imported German soda. Love that there's a zero sugar version. It's a citrus cola with ending vanilla notes. Way better than some of the orange Pepsi/Pepsi Fire they ran in the past. Nice to try. 2) Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeno Peppers: -Unique combination of predator and prey meats all encased into one sausage. Also, not often you can get these meats as well. -Slight spicy kick to it from the jalapenos and rich, buttery texture of the meats together. -Each hot dog comes with 2 toppings and we got caramelized onions and sauerkraut with this which added a nice sour and sweet taste to it too. -I liked this the most of the 2 of them. 3) Pheasant with Herbs de Provence: -Nice savory flavor, but I was a fool and ordered this with the sweet and spicy peppers as a topping since they were different from the other toppings we got and I mostly just tasted the bitter aftertaste of the peppers that sort of overpowered the meats. My mistake if anything since the bites with just meat and mustard were delicious. 4) Groot of Belgian Fries: -Huge serving, way too much for 2 people especially with 2 hot dogs and we sadly could not finish it, but at the very least it came with 2 dipping sauces. -Before ordering this, I didn't groot referred to anything other than a Marvel character. -Fries had a rich, deeper flavor than standard fries, nice slight crispiness. We got it with curry ketchup and sundried tomato mayo. The tomato mayo was fine, definitely a lighter flavor and since the fries tasted so rich on their own, I feel like the curry ketchup was a more flavorful and better match. I love a good hot dog, so being able to try it with more exotic meats, flavors, and sauces makes it definitely worth stopping by.

We enjoy visiting here as we can try different types of sausages. Rattlesnake and rabbit...?…read moreHonestly i cannot rwsily tell those are different meat, but anyway hotdogs are tasty. There is a kids menu too, but i don't see a difference. It only gives the same(maybe it was smaller? Hard to tell) hotdog with limited choice (chicken and apple flavor?) with fries. Wish i remember the price if it worths. I have been trying mainly rattlesnake&rabbit but i will try buffalo next time to see how different it is. For adults, i would not recommend chicken&apple. I feel like other flavors are way better than this.
