    Hits the spot every time

My favorite, [2] mix tostada and [1] shrimp tostada, can't go wrong with that, their tasty and not overpriced. Been stopping by when ever possible

a plate of food on a table

The food itself is really good, 5-star worthy. But I had to deduct stars because of the horrible customer service. They seem to be in a bad mood every time we visit. They give everyone an attitude. As I stood there waiting for my food, I witnessed the same rude service to every patron. That stepped up to order. Do they not like having customers? Because they had a really long line. The woman taking orders (I think she is the owner) seemed bothered by everyone. Which is sad because no one treated her badly. All customers were super friendly. Too bad the kind service was not reciprocated to us.

Great tostadas! I never had anything like it. They use a coleslaw like dressing. Its amazing! The shrimp cocktails are basic nothing special but them tostadas tho lol. Look them up and go get some. Prices are decent 2.50 - 8.00 bucks depending what u get Parking is plenty and dont trip if u park on the red nobody ever comes through

Everything was delicious and I was heart broken when the truck disappeared. I would still pass by whenever I could to see if they returned, hoping, praying that they would return. Recently, a friend found this yelp page and scrolled through the comments and found that another customer said they're at this other location in Vernon. I live out of town now and just flew in last night. We decided to take a chance and see if was truly my beloved primos. The NEW LOCATION for my Lincoln Heights peeps is indeed now in Vernon. 5681 S Downey Rd Vernon, CA 90058 We got there last night and circled around a bit but closer to take a look at the truck and it's definitely not the white truck that was parked in the Heights. It's a different orange truck with electronic signs on it. But when I stood up close to analyze the menu and the condiments outside, I can tell it was the same amazing salsa that I grew up on and some familiar faces inside. Now that we know where they are, we'll be making the drive from Lincoln Heights to Vernon for the amazing tacos. My heart is whole again after these rough past few years without their amazing food. Please. I encourage all of you to come here. Tell your friends and family. They're more than worth it. PS. I tried buying a whole bottle of my favorite salsa from them but they weren't down. Too bad. I'll try again next time.

50+ food trucks in one place? A dream come true…read more They had everything you could possibly imagine: Shaved Ice. BBQ. Sliders. Ramen. Boba. Icecream sandwiches. Dim Sum. Waffles. Grilled Cheese. Sushi. Filipino, Argentine, Greek, Brazilian, Korean trucks.... just to name a few. $10 to get in for this seven hour long event, and a portion of the proceeds goes to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. There was also over 40 vendors present, carnival games, live music performances, an acoustic tent, art/car displays, and an electronic gaming truck! I really liked that xylophone display.. it was really fun to play with it. There was also a Yelp tent, and I got a cool bag and necklace after signing up :) I was really afraid that it would be really crowded (last food truck festival I went to was a disaster) But it was not! Wait time was usually 5 minutes for most trucks... and up to 15-20 minutes for the popular trucks! (Grilled cheese!!) Although I wish it wasn't sprinkling in the beginning, my friends and I had a blast! We all sampled 12 trucks! (Ta Bom, Rebel Bite, Tornado Potato, Temaki, Jogasaki, Tropical Shaved Ice, Crepes Bonaparte, Flying Pig, The Boba Truck, Tango Mango, Sweetesbakeshop, and Chef Che). Yes.. yes..I know. I kinda let myself go here. My favorite: JOGASAKI! One thing that really bothered me is that none of the food trucks sold drinks because they wanted you to pay for the overpriced ones at the bar :\ $3 for water/soda? $7 for beer? No thanks. I hope they have this again next year :)

The Wait and quality of food.. Not worth it…read more Came here around 12pm to get some lunch because I was in the area craving Thai. Their menu looked appetizing and the reviews were decent so I gave it a try. Before I ordered I asked how long the wait would be and she said 15min. So I ran an errand and came back, 15 minutes have past and I'm still waiting. I waited until 25 minutes before I asked about my food. she said it was coming up next, and sorry for the wait. I understood I mean it's lunch time. You can tell they were rushed, there's only two of them and the people waiting in line to order slowly left. She didn't acknowledge people waiting in line, she had he back towards them. 40 minutes have passed now and I'm HANGRY... She kept telling me it was next and that it's backed up. I waited another 10 mins before my food came out... By this time I was over it. I took a bite of the pad see ew and it was so bland... The beef is dry and tasted like they Rushed it.... All that wait for something gross.. Very disappointed !! I mean cmon even when I'm hangry and the food doesn't taste good still.... Sad

Well, that's what just happened to me. I wouldn't mind trying other things on their menu, next time. I'm hopeful. But I have to admit, I didn't love the bbq pork noodle I ordered. It came with a peanut/vinegary/liquidy sauce. The noodles tasted like nothing, and the bbq pork was good. But I guess you're supposed to pour the sauce over the whole dish, else the noodles would just be dry and flavorless. Kind of like you do on Vietnamese vermicelli dishes.I've never had Thai food that way, but I'm open-minded. The prices were a little on the high side for a food truck. I mean, why are food trucks generally expensive for fast food? It kind of contradicts the whole concept behind the "roach coach". Dontcha think? These prices were like sit-down restaurant prices for the pretty good Thai food places around town. So, not sure how the whole business model of having high prices works out for these food truckers. I also ordered the fried tofu with the sweet chili sauce. You can't go wrong on fried tofu, so nothing to write about besides it's good :). Service? They could definitely pick up some storefront personality and speed. But overall, they seemed nice.

tl;dr mariscos food truck meets classy cocktail bar at this trendy Frogtown seafood spot…read more The little sibling to the now-shuttered LA Cha Cha Cha, Loreto is the newest fine-dining destination in Chef Paco Moran's culinary universe. Here, seafood is king, with a vast menu spanning from ceviches to zarandeados (grilled Nayarit-style). With a gorgeous atmosphere to boot, it's no wonder that Loreto is one of the city's trendiest restaurants. The terracotta-red complex is easy to spot among the muted Frogtown neighborhood, and the desert-chic vibes inside immediately feel like the Arts District. Industrial, minimalist features are colored with arid tones. The stunning back patio is a worthy counterpart to the moody indoor dining room. Mid-century modern seating is pressed up to marble azure tables. Groovy instrumental intermixes with cocktails shaking from the bar. Loreto has always had available seating, but expect the indoor space and patio to slowly but surely fill up. The aguachiles and ceviches have been an excellent and reliable kick-off to our dinner. The Aguachile Negro pairs a plentiful portion of fresh shrimp with a dynamic marinade, evolving from an acidic pop to a smoky spice; the Aguachile Verde does the same, but with a stronger serrano-based spice. The Papaya Ceviche calls in jicama and green papaya to lend a crunch to the fresh scallop base. Of the crackers, I much preferred the crispy masa tortilla to the prepackaged saltines. For other small bites, I've loved the crispy rock shrimp Bang Bang! Tostada and the rich Soft Shell Crab Tacos. For the latter, the single, deep-fried crab was sliced in half and portioned between two tacos, and the hefty flour tortillas held up well against the pickles and sauces. Lastly, you must conclude with a zarandeados platter. As someone who always gravitates toward the octopus appetizers, I'm a sucker for the Zarandeados Pulpo. Our whole grilled octopus was dolloped with a chile crema, sharing a stainless steel sheet pan with salsas, tangy arroz rojo, and hearty refried black beans. All of the accompaniments felt carefully curated, and only the dull, room-temperature blue corn tortillas left me wanting (the pre-made quesadillas quickly became gummy). The only dish that's felt like a true dud was the Mar-Esquites. Billed as upscale elote, this pre-cut corn-and-shrimp concoction ended up unpleasantly watery. The service was helpful but mechanical; I appreciated that team members stayed vigilant for unfilled water glasses and completed plates. Valet was $20, but we had no trouble finding street parking a block away. Across multiple visits, our total bill has been in the $120 range for 2 (after tax and tip), and the portion left us feeling comfortably full. Broadly, Loreto translates the delicious food from a mariscos truck into a sophisticated sit-downery, and it's a good bet for impressing out-of-towners.
