I was a little hungry after work at 2am. I found him on Yelp randomly. I have to say--it's the best corn I've ever had in my life. The flavor is incredible--sweet, fresh, and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend and I came here in October 2021 and I remember the corn being $2 for a corn on the cob. The first time we visited there was a huge line of more than 50 people waiting on a parking lot. I finally had the chance to try the famous corn man at midnight. Honestly, the corn in a cup (esquite) is like any other, but what sets it apart is the generous amount of cheese and butter on top. The portion was well-packed, and at just five dollars for a soda and an esquite, it's not a bad deal. I got curious about the corn man after seeing this Yelp page. I wanted to know what's the hype for ppl to start lining up before he arrives. I got there around 10:20pm on a Friday night, first circling around trying to figure out where he'll be located. I happened to see some people already lining up in a random public parking lot behind the 99 cents store and figured that's where he'll be at. Yelp says he opens at 11:15am (should be pm as this is a typo) but the corn man didn't arrive until 11:45pm so I waited well over an hour. The line was pretty long by the time he came. Corn on the cob or bowl are $3 each and a bottle of water is $1. I ate a bowl on the spot and it's slathered with a generous amount of mayo and butter and piled with contija cheese. If you get it with chili it really packs a punch. It's hearty for what it is and filling. I decided to take the cob home to eat. After about 30 minutes when I got home, the corn on the cob was still hot and delicious. In fact the corn on the cob is juicier! Really delicious overall. Was it worth the wait? Yes but not before he arrives no. I would recommend going after he opens because it's probably 30-40 minutes wait instead an hour plus depending what time you go. So here we are past 12 o'clock circling a park to look for the Corn Man lol Find the long line and you will find the Corn Man I decided to get the esquites (bowl) versus elote (stick) because tbh I would probably end up with corn in my hair and all over my clothes. You can tell the Corn Man is so hardworking and passionate about what he does. He quickly scoops corn into the bowl, tops it with mayo, butter sauce, tajin, and tons of (cotija) cheese. I finally got to see the Corn Man after waiting in the cold for more than an hour! If you ask me, I have no regrets whatsoever! Corn Man was amazing. He's a pro; quick, meticulous, and friendly. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed the corn he created for us. We got both Corn on the Cob (Elote) and the Corn in the Bowl (Esquites); 2 each so we wont fight over it! It was definitely worth wating for. It's $2.50 each which I think its more than reasonable for the quality food I get. Corn smothered with mayo/crema, vegetable oil spread, covered & stacked with lots, I mean LOTS of cheese! Powdered chili and lime juice can also be added upon your request. The Corn Man and another guy which I overheard them talking in Spanish, his brother (correct me if I am wrong, I heard 'hermano'), both are professionals. They are super friendly and made sure we get everything we needed before they help out the next person in line. Gave me more than enough napkins with my Elote takeout which I think is thoughful because you DO get messy eating these. I also ordered a cup of Champurrado which is a Mexican traditional drink thats chocolate based with cinnamon and others. It was perfect in the cold weather. I was informed that he usually appears around/after 10:30 PM but on the day I went, he came around 11:20 PM. I waited since 10 PM and there were about 15 people in front of me. It's the best type of date night :) The corn man usually comes by around 10PM and he stays until midnight or past depending on how many customers there are. If you guys come early, you'll notice there's already people forming a line. Some even bring chairs for the long wait! You can ask for elotes in two forms: on the stick or in a cup. It tastes the same (obviously) but just depends on whether you guys want that "bite factor" lol. He gets it right every time. The corn is sweet and the ratio of mayo/cheese/corn is just perfect. It's also cash only so bring money with you! Tip: if you guys like lime, he'll be more than glad to add it on there for you. Just ask! Another tip: usually the sticks are gone first. If you don't care or don't mind getting the cup, you should drop by around 11:30-12. You'll be towards the end of the line by that time so no long wait! read more

Came here for the first time this past Saturday with my husband and best friend. We arrived around 9:30 PM at night and was one of the firsts to arrive. It was a little confusing since we didn't know exactly where the Elote Man sets up but we followed the pictures. We didn't get out of the car until we saw someone line up by the wall, across to the telephone/light pole. We were second in line by then. The Elote Man arrived a little bit before 11 PM and by then, there was a line of about 60+ people. We decided to get two orders of elote and two orders of the esquite. Total was $10. He definitely does not skimp on his ingredients. He will slather that mayo on, drench it in cheese, squirts more button on top, drizzles chili powder as the cherry, and if you want lime, you'll have to ask. The esquites were easy to eat! Just mix everything up and wha-la! Do keep in mind that since he doesn't skimp you on ingredients, the chili powder can get a bit heavy. If you can't handle too spicy, remember to ask for light chili! The elotes were the harder ones to eat but I actually preferred the elote over esquite. It gives a better experience and tastes a bit better? If only his corn was more sweet, it would've been absolutely delicious. Came here for the first time (finally) after hearing about this rumored "Elote Man" and it being a late night thing. We had arrived before 10PM in the parking lot where yelp had took me to. Right off the I-5 in a sketchy looking part of town, it was mildly scary. There was 1 other car there at the time, parked at the end. Soon after, another car had appeared and had parked on the 3rd spot. I ended up moving our car over to the 2nd spot to "be in line" LOL Guy from the 1st car had gotten out and started standing by the wall at the end (east end) between the two entrances to the parking lot, on the left side. Some people may say that the corn man sets up at the Telephone booth/light pole, which is true. Unfortunately the light pole bulb was out. LOL The line over time grew to create a L stretching from one wall to the other then up towards and past a few cars. It was at least behind the first 2-3 cars (cuz we joked about how to get out and who to hit LOL) One car showed up around 10:40 to set up a table. The corn man's truck showed up maybe 10 minutes later to set up cart and move to spot to set up light and umbrella. Just short of 11:00, he was serving up corn orders. His setup is a simple homemade wooden cart build to fit everything he uses. He has coolers full of corn kernels and whole corn, steaming hot with every lid open. Since we were 2nd in line, we got our orders pretty quick. We had asked for 2 elote and 2 esquites, both with lime (by request only). Simple food but done well. He piles on the mayo, cojita cheese, fresh squeezed lime, butter spread, and tajin-like cayenne pepper like spice. Corn is nicely cooked and crispy. The spice actually adds quite the amount of heat. Not for the weak. The esquites in a normal styrofoam bowl. Corn at the height of the edges of the bowl. Cojita cheese piled up high, topped with lime juice, butter, and spice. The whole corn is skewered with a thick wooden skewer before all the toppings are added. This guy is definitely not light handed on anything. It was easy to eat the esquites as its in a corn and you can just mix it in the bowl. Elote/corn on the cob is a bit harder. I ended up just giving up all cleanliness, rolled the corn in the foil sheet its in so the toppings are all mixed and creating a nice mix and just dipped in it before every bite. Don't bring a first date here LOL We ended up eating everything standing behind the car using the trunk as a table. You can throw away stuff in the trash bag next to the corn man. All in all, waited like an hour ish... Took like 15 minutes to eat. Interesting experience ! Recommend to those who like elote. Dont come alone though xD read more
