I love the veggie grill! I try to eat as clean as possible and they have some delicious options when I'm in a rush. I'm a member of their rewards club, which is $9 or $10 off when you spend $100. It doesn't take long to get there. I also like that they often have yelp check in bonuses. Last time I went I got a free dessert for checking in. Food: Wanting to get a healthier choice in food I decided to come to Veggie Grill. Here I purchased The VG Classic, Santa Fe Chickin' and Bowl of Moroccan Lentil Soup. The VG Classic includes a "beyond burger, american cheese, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, and red onion on a brioche bun served with a side of spicy cherry pepper relish| sub house veggie or tempeh patty--no charge". I could definitely taste the difference between a beef burger and veggie one but enjoy very much the veggie one. I did take out the onions- not a fan. The crispy chickin' included "romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, pickled onion, mashed avocado, chipotle mayo on a soft wheat roll". It was a decent chicken sandwich, nothing crazy. I did like the avocado and chipotle as it helped with the taste of the overall sandwich. Lastly got lentil soup which was okay. I've had lentil a hand full a times and it's something I wouldn't go out my way to order but my brother said it tasted good. So if your weird like my brother you'll like it. I'm kidding. (4 stars) Environment: This Veggie Grill is located in Pasadena in the South Lake business sector. Tons of restaurants down the street. Plenty of on street paid meter parking as well as a parking lot behind the restaurant. The place has tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly for the patio outside. The area is clean and safe. (4 stars) Service: The staff was friendly and attentive. They opened another register to make sure the line went down fast. The wait time for my food was not long at all. And they were knowledgeable about their menu when I did have questions. (4 stars) Price: I understand that veggie patties are usually expensive at grocery stores for a few patties so the price made sense but maybe I'm just old school and think it was still high for being a burger. The VG Classic is 9.95, the Santa Fe Chickin' was 8.95 and the lentil soup was 4.95. (4 stars) Overall Thoughts: I enjoyed eating healthy and believe this is a good spot to choice from. I was around the Pasadena area and I know they have good vegan restaurants so I went to go check out veggie grill. I would think the food is great since they have so many great reviews. But unfortunately I came in during their busy hour. I received my food 30mins after ordering. It's a 25min drive back home for me and when I opened my food my sweet potato fries were soggy. My bowl was not cooked right. The quinoa was hard and after I was done eating, my stomach started to feel upset. I think my food was cooked rush since I heard one of the employers say to a customer that they are back up on orders. At least one of them gave me a free meal voucher since I was waiting so long. But it's no used since it's a 19mile drive for me :/ read more

A month ago, I ordered Veggie Grill via Postmates and ordered their VG Beyond burger, carrot cake, & crispy fries. Considering I had delivery, dinner wasn't bad. In fact, a friend and I split it. The fries nor burger were soggy, and the carrot cake was the tits. The burger patty was firm, had good flavor, but it still didn't hit the spot for the best vegan patty I've ever had (still forever searching). However, it's pretty close to the consistency of an actual all beef patty. Close, but not perfect. The fries were indeed crispy. It's a small order of fries so if you decide to split meals, I'd consider ordering an extra side of crispy fries. As for the cake, it exceeded my expectations; absolutely delicious. It was firm, the frosting was perfect, the cake was moist, and the size was shareable. I could smell the coconut oil used; it complimented the cake well. Vegan fast food done well. Veggie Grill's menu is incredibly extensive--offering salads, sandwiches, burritos, burgers, and bowls that have various ethnic flavor influences, and more. As the name clearly implies, Veggie Grill is all about the veggies. All of their "meats" are plant/soy-based, and are all really good for being substitutes for the real thing. Their burgers are well executed and flavorful. And while they don't exactly replace real burgers, they are a solid choice for a healthier take. A seasonal favorite is the Far East Bowl that consists of a brown rice base layer, sesame-crusted "chicken," papaya salad, broccoli, green curry, and sweet chili sauce. The curry is extremely well flavored with a nice kick to it, and the sesame-crusted protein is texturally diverse and interesting, and tastes delicious. Love all the different components of this bowl and highly recommend for a satisfying lunch. Service and quality of food are usually great here. But I had a negative experience today. I showed up 5 minutes after my pick up time and was told by a team member my food was not ready. Pick up is usually on time but it's not a big deal. I then waited about 20 minutes -- which I was again okay with since they seemed busy for the dinner rush. But then the team member that initially checked my food checked the shelf again for a bag thats been sitting there since before I got there and found my food was sitting there the whole time and called my name. This was fine also because mistakes happen. I made a casual comment saying oh no it's there the whole time. He then looks at me straight and say no it just came out. What? I don't mind honest mistakes but this boldface lying is very insulting and disappointing. This is definitely not how you treat a loyal customer. When I was a kid, my dad was an acquaintance of Bill Pearl, 4 time Mr. Universe. I remember thinking, even as a kid, that it was strange he was so big for a guy that didn't eat meat. Yep, Bill Pearl was arguably the first ovolacto vegetarian professional bodybuilder. A great guy, and worth looking up online. Proudly vegetarian... Which is why to some degree, I've struggled with vegetarian cuisine that pretends to be meat. I guess I don't get it-- in an almost self-deprecating way, these restaurants process and form plants, herbs, and spices, into somewhat reasonable facsimiles of edible meat products, then give it some smarmy name like Chickin' or Tofurkey. While I can see how this might appeal to former carnivores who long, self-loathingly, for their animal consumption days, it just seems like one big practical joke, and you're the punchline. Instead, if you're ready to dedicate yourself to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, why not eat those soybeans and whole grains the way the Great Programmer intended them? Why mold them into the shape of a pork sparerib, awakening the shadow of your former cooked flesh-lust, only to have a vague and fleeting memory that succulent pork and fermented mung bean croquets don't even taste like each other accidentally? Alas, Veggie Grill pulls this idiocy on part of their menu. They offer crab cakes and grilled chicken and other faux-flesh menu items, along with some good salads, sides, grains, and vegetable offerings. I opted for the quinoa salad-- no jello molded Chickin' drumstick for me. I'm a staunch meat eater, have spent a lifetime meaningfully-harvesting finned, feathered, and fur-bearing creatures from Nature for consumption, and don't apologize for any of it. But El Gigante Picante does not live by meat alone (except when I'm avoiding carbs), and a nice big pile of veggies or whole grains or legumes or fruit is a critical part of my diet too. The quinoa salad was delicious-- if I had to pick on it, maybe a little heavy on the oil... But a balanced, healthy, and diverse salad. I would gladly return to this restaurant to try their other salads and grain-based sides... But I won't insult myself or others eating a meat pun like Not Dogs and Not-cho Cheese... For me, eating at a vegetarian restaurant like Veggie Grill is not an expression of religious freedom or a political statement about the methane plight wrought upon humanity by flatulent cattle. I don't hear the haunting voice of Sarah McLachlan's "Arms of an Angel" every time I eat an In N Out burger or grill a teriyaki yellowtail collar on my patio or hard boil eggs. Veggie Grill is a clean, affordable, and pretty unpretentious place to buy a healthy, light meal. I recommend it to anyone who likes eating from all four food groups; moreover, I encourage you enlightened Vegans among us to take it easy on us Neanderthals with scarlet tendrils of blood running from the corners of our mouths... A new location of Veggie Grill at the corner of Cordova and Lake had a line about 10 deep and I walked by to check it out. The hostess outside mentioned that the event is for VIP only, however, lucky me, invited me in. I've always been curious to try Veggie Grill but most locations are on the other side of town. I'm not a vegetarian nor do I care to be one but have been told by others, that dishes here pass enough to be like chicken. To my surprise upon ordering, the meal was comped! They allowed me try an entree, side dish and drink. I tried the Santa Fe Chrispy Chickin (soy) which was pretty decent. Taste similar to that of processed chicken like a giant McNugget patty. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, spicy mayo. With that, it came with Yukon Gold fries. Not bad but I wish it was piping hot. I chose crispy cauliflower as my side dish and they sold it as tasting like Panda Express orange chicken. Honestly, it did sort of. Actually, only the sauce portion. Crispy cauliflower is fried in panko breading. Not bad but pricey for $5.95. I don't think I'd pay for this side if I had to choose again. The have a an assortment of mixed flavor lemonades and teas which are pretty good and not too sweet. Service here was friendly and the manager was accomdating. I'd probably come back to try other things. Vegetarian food isn't cheap. Though the meal was comped, it would of been a shade under 20 bucks. read more

**I'm not vegan or a vegetarian I came to Veggie Grill on a Friday afternoon and there was a pretty good amount of customers. Workers were super friendly and nice. I love chicken so I decided to get the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich. It came with a small side. I chose lentil soup! The sandwich was pretty good. It came with a good portion of guac on it. Since I knew it wasn't meat, I was a bit skeptical. It was good, but I knew it was some type of tofu. I also wanted to try the buffalo chicken so I decided to go with the wrap since it was a cheaper alternative. It was REALLY good. I recommend it over sandwich. My cousin got the cheeseburger and mac and cheese. Cheeseburger was too smokey in our opinion. Too much liquid smoke I'm assuming? Not sure but we didn't like it. The texture was there though, tasted like a normal burger patty despite the smokey flavor. The mac and cheese was pretty bad.. we each ate one macaroni and were done with it. Didn't taste like anything you'd imagine... Parking is 50/50. Big lot in the back but during lunch time can get super packed. I've been really trying to incorporate meat substitutes and giving them a chance just so I can live a healthier lifestyle. I will say that some that I've tried at any restaurant have been a hit or miss for me. We had ordered: 1. Crispy Portobello (under the snack portion of the menu): This was one of the best things we had ordered. It was nicely fried and topped with spices and parsley served with your choice of ranch or roasted red pepper dipping sauce. I highly recommend getting this! 2. Tres "Fish" Tacos: Each taco was filled with cabbage, crispy "fish", original Baja sauce (in which there were hardly any), a strand of cilantro with tomato salad (as they call it), mashed avocado, lots of lettuce and slices of lime all on the side. The "fish" had a very weird consistency and I don't expect it to be like fish at all, but it was very grainy in texture and bland in taste. Even though they served very little of it to the point where it was nonexistent in my three tacos, that was fine with me because I didn't even like the "fish" anyway. There really wasn't enough sauce offered on the side of the plate and so my tacos were quite boring and disappointing. 3. "Crab" Cake Sandwich: This was more like a burger but it wasn't that bad. It came with some basic condiments you'd get in a sandwich/burger with your choice of side. We ended up getting the cole slaw and it was really good. The cole slaw wasn't water-y nor was it under-dressed, if that makes sense and the raisins added a nice touch. 4. Strawberry Lemonade & Pomegranate Iced Tea - I'm glad the drinks weren't watered down and I especially liked the strawberry lemonade as it wasn't too sour nor sweet. Veggie Grill also has entree salads and plenty of sides that are quite appealing. Overall, I'm not interested in coming back unless I wanted a healthier lunch. I wish there was a Veggie Grill on every block! I can't believe I've never stepped foot into one until recently. First off, if you think this is just Veggies, it's not. Well...it IS, but it definitely doesn't feel like it! I haven't had many items from here, but I can pretty much eat a Bombay Bowl from this place everyday for the rest of my life. That, and the Crispy Cauliflower! The Bombay Bowl's portion is the perfect size for an individual and the Crispy Cauliflower (although it's a small appetizer to share) I can eat a whole order on my own. Haha! The curry sauce and all the ingredients in the BB made this bowl a favorite of mine. The sauce for the CC was also delicious! The CC was also fried just right...and it didn't feel too greasy for me! After trying Veggie Grill for the first time in Costa Mesa, I am hooked (on phonics). The Bombay Bowl ($8.95) is literally bombay. A mix of steamed kale, almonds, beans, supergrains, roasted veggies with coconut green curry sauce. YES YES & YES. It's the best feeling in the world when you do not feel disguisting after devouring a meal. There are several summer items on special right now. I am dying to try the Sonoran Summer Bowl!!! At this Pasadena location, I had the following: HARICOTS VERTS - French green beans with sea salt and a lemon tahini sauce. This is on their summer menu. If you like green beans, you should try this dish. It was very good, and I loved the flavor of the sea salt and the tahini on the green beans, which were cooked well, but still had a bit of crisp to them. CHICKEN TACOS - You get three tacos. I wanted to get 1 chicken + 2 fish, but they wouldn't allow this, even though the price is the same for both, so... Why not? Anyway, the chicken tacos were flavorful, but I'd enjoy some regular salsa, instead of the chunks-of-tomato salsa. GOLD YUKON FRIES - delicious, crisp, fresh, perfectly seasoned french fries! When VG first opened they only had sweet potato fries, so when they started selling regular fries... O' happy day! CHARGRILLED STREET CORN - I love corn, and another location seasoned the corn SO well that when I got my corn at this location I immediately noticed the lack of seasoning. I even showed the staff the picture of the corn from the Encino location and their only response was that it shouldn't have been made that way. Well, THAT way was awesome. This location? Not so much. They offered no suggestion or attempt to rectify it either. I ended up putting some salt and pepper on it to save it from its blandness. I typically eat extremely unhealthy (my regulars are Chick-Fil-A, Raising Canes, Baby Bros Pizza, etc) so it's always nice to find new places that serve much healthier options. Pasadena serves a ton of more healthy (but pricey) options - I'm glad I came across Veggie Grill! It's located on Lake Ave with many other restaurants that share the same big lot - but keep in mind it can get difficult to find a spot during peak times. I said earlier that I don't eat healthy food very often, so when I walked in it took me forever to decide what to get. But then I noticed that they serve the Beyond Burger and I had to have it! I've made it a point to order the burger at any place that I can, just to see how different places put their twist on it. Veggie Grill is probably the best one that I've had! If you've never had a Beyond Burger, prepare to have your mind blown. The burger is actually really juicy and the patty even bleeds, which is really really strange. But, the taste is really, really good. Although definitely a little pricey, it's worth it to me. She checked in with every table just to make sure every customer is happy. We are very pleased by their services and food. I always love to go to Veggie grill for fast vegan food. They are not actual fast food but close enough, for me. Their crispy chicken plate with a side of steam kale is the bomb. Crispy cauliflower was pretty good as well. Their buffalo wings were made with crispy chicken strip and buffalo sauce. I personally prefer Sage's buffalo cauliflowers which makes me feel "healthier." If I want something spicy, this is a must! This place was pretty busy even on a late Saturday night at 10pm. They have gluten free and vegan options. I wish they had more gluten free options though. All the dishes I wanted that looked amazing had gluten in it. Either way, there was a menu item that was a hit before and came back on the menu apparently and it was the Banh Mi Salad. It was gluten free and it was so good! They charred the organic tofu as it it were a piece of BBQ pork! I give them an A+ for that. Their flavor is amazing. I've been to two other Veggie grill locations and I think this location is my favorite. :) They even have gluten free desserts like cookies and/or brownies. I always appreciate that they use Meyer's soap in their bathrooms instead of some industrial chemical-laden soap that's bad for your skin and even your body once absorbed. Another try at a vegan place, for my very meat-loving self. Maybe a carnivore can be fooled? Ample parking in the back, counter service food with sit-down eatery area, this place resembles Lemonade and Tender Greens. I got their Seoul Bowl (Veggie Steak a spicy super grain rice) with a side of Blackened "Chicken". The veggie meat was very good and satisfied my need for protein. Can't say I liked it as much as the real meat, but since my arteries are happier, it offset the slightly worse flavor. We also tried the Buffalo wings (decent, but nothing special) and their sweet potato fries (very good, and lightly fried only) that had a great dipping sauce with chipotle ranch. My gf got the Korean Tacos, which she really enjoyed, but the spice was just a bit too much for me (I handle around the Sriracha level). Overall surprisingly good. I've bookmarked Veggie Grill for awhile now and heard they recently opened a location in Pasadena. Great, closer to me! I made a trip for dinner here on a Sunday night. Not too busy, but moderately. There were three of us. While one order (Santa Fe Chickin') came out, it took a good 15 mins before we had to wave someone down to check on the rest of the orders. For someone with food on the table, waiting 15 mins for their friends to get their plates to eat, is not easy. The Santa Fe Chickin' sandwich (fried or grilled) are very tasty. You can't tell it's not real meat. A popular ordered dish. The tea drinks they have are delicious and so refreshing. I had the All hail Kale salad with Tempah. I really enjoyed my kale and quinoa salad with the dressing they had. It was very fresh and light. The tempeh, however, was weird in texture, grainy and dry. I didn't like how it was with my salad. I'd like to give Veggie Grill another try. Next time I'll order something hot, and their nachos. It looked so good. read more
