First time ordering here for my company. Calling in order was very easy and they were good about splitting. Also they packed our bag well. My food was great. I tried the barbacoa gordita and carne guisada taco. The beans were decent and the salsa didn't have spice. Overall a good stop. read more

This is a great place to go if you're craving some inexpensive Mexican food. The food is delicious and if you dine in, they'll bring you free chips and salsa! Just take a seat and someone will come to serve you. The folks working here are all pretty nice and the whole place is just a nice place to relax a bit and eat. Poor service, average food, they got all the orders wrong and they nickel and dimed us to death, charging for tomatoes and onions. And to top it off, after they ran the card, I signed it, but we were not ready to leave yet and they were not due to close for another hour. Some different woman, not our waitress came up, stood staring at us and gestured until I pulled the credit card holder out for her. She took it, stared at what I think was the tip amount, sniffed and left. She nor the waitress came back and asked if we wanted a to-go cup, I had to ask for one at the counter. All in all, not recommended. Greasy, unappetizing food that ended up being expensive and poor quality. Go to Serrano's instead! Much better food! BEST. BREAKFAST. TACOS. IN. AUSTIN. Now listen, I knowwww Austin has plenty of places that boast this title. But this humble establishment deserves it! The secret is in their hot sauce. I usually get chorizo, egg, and cheese. They're cheap and delicious! Every location I go to has great service and never disappoints. They've updated the inside to expand dining space which looked nice. But I'm usually there for a touch and go. I often call ahead to order to go and they whip things up fast. read more

Picked up a To-Go order one morning. Walked in right when they opened and they were ready for business. The place was super clean and organized and staff all seemed to be on time. For a restaurant that opens so early I was impressed as it's not usually the case elsewhere. Ordered breakfast tacos...barbacoa for a few and potato, egg, and bacon on the others. All were really delicious and for 5 tacos, totaled $15. It's more expensive than I've usually paid but they were stuffed pretty full so no complaints here. Will be back. read more

I was so pumped to try this little Mexican joint from all the great reviews I read about their gorditas. Unfortunately, every dish I tried was a total flop. When I walk into a hole in the wall establishment (which usually are the best) I try to look past the cheap decor, the dull ambience and the lack of posh. For places like these the food is the true hero. The Al Pastor Gotditas was suppose to be that hero for Vasquez, and it wasn't. The meat was bland due to lack of seasoning, and the rice and beans tasted like something you would eat at Taco Bell! Even the guacamole tasted canned. I went for breakfast. The food is decent except the tortillas were plain store bought and cold. Service was okay, they just need to let people know that they need to seat themselves or else you just stand there looking dumb waiting for someone to seat you. The restaurant seems very clean. They don't have Tv's to distract your meal. They play traditional Mexican music in the background. The price is a little high for a breakfast plate. Overall I would say its a good place to try at least once. read more

I can't give it negative stars. 1 is too many though. I don't even know where to start......let's see. How about all these 4 star reviews??? What are you people thinking? Outside there were about 15 cars filling up the parking around, so you would think the place was busy. Nope. One other table with someone who looks too lazy to eat anywhere else. The nasty tables and floor were the first tip off that something would be amiss. The chips were tasteless and the "salsa" was one of those cheap ones from the bottom shelf @ HEB. The overpriced queso is clearly Rico's canned "cheese" sauce. SO GROSS. My hard working hungry man ordered the enchiladas covered with carne guisada and I got the gorditas with beef. Whoa. Both plates were not only COLD, but the enchiladas looked like they were covered in Alpo and some sort of shredded cheese. My gorditas were clearly FILLED with dog food and I had to spit it out on the first bite. I sent my disgusting food back and the waitress seemed mystified as to why I didn't like it. I went ahead and said it tasted and looked like dog food. (but my dogs wouldn't even eat it) As I also had to tell the cashier the same, he seemed indifferent and unsurprised. I tend to think it's just a cover for a money laundering group. There's no way there's real cooks back there. PLEASE DON'T EAT HERE. This is a crime against food. What a waste. read more

This place is pretty good and fast. I have only had breakfast burritos so this is my take on that. They are bland and they do not offer salsa with the burritos. Epic fail on their part. The staff is really nice and attentive. Service is quick. Some of their tacos are a little on the pricey side, especially if you make any modifications. The breakfast tacos are good, though they would get extra marks with fresh corn tortillas. Their barbacoa is among the best in the area. Lunch, and especially their chicken and beef soups, are wonderful. read more

We live right next to Jardin Corona and will be making the extra 3 minute drive to Vasquez. Their barbacoa and menudo are SO good!

Good solid food/menu. Food was tasty and the salsa was pretty tangy (maybe hot for some) and the chips were surprisingly good. Service was okay - but the kitchen time is another story. It is was crazy long!! So if that is okay with you, it's a good place. But b-fast dining should never be this time consuming. It was a Sunday, pretty busy, so that at most is a one star subtraction. No one really said anything - so don't expect any updates from your wait staff. read more

Easily better than Jardin & Corona and One Taco breakfast tacos. I called in an order on Sunday morning for pickup, 10 minutes later it was ready! The staff is very friendly, which is always appreciated. We ordered the usual breakfast taco options: bacon, egg, cheese - potato, egg, cheese, - bacon, egg, bean. Every taco was really good! They didn't suffer from the typical breakfast taco mistakes which are: too much egg, over cooked eggs, fatty bacon slices, cheap tortillas, and no flavor. These were the opposite of that. My only regret is not trying this place sooner. With 4 locations around town, these guys should be your next taco spot. Oh, and prices are very reasonable. read more

Awful in every way. The chips were stale and looked like grocery store chips. They didn't bring us salsa for several minutes after the chips and then it wasn't salsa it was picante sauce. Also looked like grocery store. The lunch menu was on the expensive side, starting at $9. We ordered tacos and enchiladas. The fajita meat was tough and grizzly and the chicken enchilada had absolutely NO spices in the meat. Boiled and bland chicken! Great place to go for Mexican breakfast. We love bringing home their tacos on the weekend. Their guacamole is perfect in its simplicity, and their chips are just right. I'm quite confused on all the stars and great reviews and the single $ sign. We came in because it seems highly recommended but I'm soo confused. My husband and I came in on a Saturday Morning after a Farmers Market run. I looked at the menu and thought this is not a single dollar place. The menudo large is over $10 REALLY.. I saw it come out Sorry that's NOT worth $10 and not even large. So we decided on breakfast tacos. I ordered a mexicano and a migas on corn (hello this is a authentic resturaunt RIGHT?) NOT. My corn tortillas were not toasted AT ALL. Come on put a little effort into it! My husband ordered a Beef Fajita and a Migas Taco on corn as well. The Beef was tough and felt like it was left over from the night before his corn tortillas also NOT TOASTED. Look at my photos. Also the bell peppers and onions were not cooked down which made our breakfast WATERY which happens when you don't cook them down. We asked for some green sauce it was a tomatillo which came out hot and was decently spicy. I had water my husband ordred coffee we had to ask several times for refills (I cannot tell you how much that irritates me). The reviews and single $ sign is extremely misleading. It definitely should be 2 $. Be warned. After reading this you will no longer be mislead. This is no where near good mexican food that is ALL OVER AUSTIN. venture out ENJOY what's out there. read more

I've driven past and have visited other businesses in that same shopping center many times, but never realized Vazquez Restaurant was there until one day I was walking from FedEx back to my car in the parking lot and happened to have enough time to go inside Vazquez and give it a try. Not impressed with the food, at least not the enchiladas. The service was fantastic, contrary to many reviews. The good was just poor quality and didn't taste better than a frozen Mexican meal. The chicken tasted as if it had been stewed and left in seasoning for several days. The breakfast foods looked much better so I may come again for and try something off the breakfast menu. read more

Dont understand all the good reviews. Went to have breakfast tacos. Since it is a mexican restaurant one would expect home made tortillas. Food was just ok. The worst part of my dining experience was the service. It was just horrible. No one ever checked up on us. Not even once. Never got napkins or refills. I had to clean my hands with baby wipes. This review is based on the breakfast menu at the Lake Creek location (haven't tried the lunch or dinner). Not only excellent service, but they have by far the best breakfast tacos in NW Austin! The employees here intentionally leave the phone on hold for HOURS at a time on busy days to avoid people calling in pick up orders during rush hours. This is the 5th or 6th it's happened. Cheap, excellent breakfast tacos. The best barbacoa in the city! Vazquez does their bacon and egg breakfast tacos right by chopping the bacon in to bits and mixing it with the egg. I hate when they add the egg and leave the bacon as strips and throw them into the taco randomly. The salsa is great as well. A red salsa that has the right consistency and spice. Absolutely the worst food I have ever eaten in my entire life!!! They have to pay people to give good reviews because there is no way anyone could actually like the food. I'm not sure how you can make cheese enchiladas non edible, but they accomplished it. The salsa was not even good, it was like tomato juice for you to do your chips in. Out of the 4 of us eating only one person could eat their food and he was 15 and still did not like it. Prices are ridiculous as well. Go to Taco Bell for better food. read more
