The BEST Mexican martinis
Raeann V.

Delicious authentic Mexican food served up hot and fresh by friendly wait staff. Situated in a small strip center, this place is a hidden gem. Their charro beans are so flavorful and good! The street tacos, chicken gorditas and flautas are my go tos. Don't forget to ask for the salsa verde. You won't be disappointed. They recently added a full bar and it's one of my favorite places to catch up with the girls on a Friday night.

Great spot for a quick bite, particularly if you're keen on some breakfast. Breakfast plates are loaded with perfectly cooked potatoes, refried beans, eggs your way and with bacon, ham or sausage, and tortillas. Breakfast tacos, particularly the taco madre, are chock full of ingredients. Usually greeted as you come in. Seat yourself. Service is friendly and efficient. Parking out front in the strip mall. Takes cards and cash. Note: Now open for dinner Thursday through to Saturday nights.

Steak a la Mexicana and a papa a la Mexicana taco.

The service was great. Food was good. Queso and salsa were very good. Few things could be better but overall I'd eat here again.

First time here. Our waitress was nice and came back to check in and refill our drinks. We asked for chips and salsa very good. The food was delicious. We had barbacoa plate which had lots of flavor and very generous portions of beans and potatoes, our daughter had 2 barbacoa tacos and my husband had a barbacoa taco and a bean cheese taco also very generous portions. The only thing was they don't have authentic flour tortillas which is huge which was disappointing because their food was absolutely delicious.

Migas plate and stuffed omelette.

We love this place. We have lived nearby for a few years, and have dined in a number of times, but usually we pick up breakfast tacos to go. Those breakfast tacos are PACKED -- delicious and full of fillings. Always more salsas provided than we need, which we use for other meals at home lol. HOWEVER, it is worth coming here in person -- the food is delicious and fresh and the service is top notch. You get to keep the red and green salsa dispensers on your table, so you never run out. All the servers take care of all the tables, and it really makes you feel like they care. The servers wear shirts that mention their great customer service, so the business knows, and cares, and it shows. The restaurant is clean and well cared for, there are really cool/convenient condiment stands on the tables that hold a paper towel roll (so smart!!), and the place is decorated bright and colorful with some really cool paintings, including a copycat Austin mural on one wall with their name. This is a regular go-to spot that has never disappointed and was one of the first places to reliably provide takeout during the pandemic. This review is long overdue.

Love the barbacoa from this place! Always fresh, tasty! Never dry! I order half a pound. $10 Wait is usually 5-10mins. Very nice inside setting too!

Gordibuena

Favorite family breakfast place in town. The gordibuena is my jam lately. The migas are great. There's some "American" breakfast items such as pancakes. The breakfast tacos are the best around here, and the waitresses are lovely.

Kind, clean, and so fresh Is the experience you will have at Vasquez. We used to get breakfast tacos here before the Covid happened and people will bring them to work. They are so tasting but today I got the Migos were high reviews and a taco!

Gordibuena and beef fajitas!! Great breakfast!!

We have been coming to Vazquez#3 since 2007 and they gave never failed to deliver an awesome meal. The Gordibuena is simply amazing and their beef fajitas are always on point! If you haven't tried this hidden gem, you have honestly been missing out!

3 breakfast tacos with egg, potatoes, bacon, cheese and salsa.

El Alma - Chips salsa and queso

Bouldin Creek, 78704 (South Austin)

That rush hour traffic in Austin is lethal. If it starts raining too, oh buddy, what a nightmare…read more Eventually you'll make it to your destination and if it's half as good as El Alma, it'll be a sigh of relief. I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

I have not found a taco place that was phenomenal until I tried this place! The vibes take you back to Mexico with authentic tacos served simple, straight forward, and let the taco speak for itself! We were downtown for a concert at the Moody Theater and were hungry so we decided to walk a short 9 mins to Taqueria De Diez! The best decision made! Full disclosure... the establishment is located down a very DARK creepy alley (the kind in the movies where you shouldn't go down to get) but after overcoming that fear... this will be the best decision you make! Your tummy will thank you! Follow the outside "TACO here" sign. Go through the door and walk straight... this will get you through the line. Lucky for us on a Saturday night at 10:30pm there wasn't a super long line. We managed to grab two seats to chow down our tacos. You will be able to see the chefs cook the carne asada on the grill and the Al pastor on the spit roast being cut to be put in tacos. The smell was amazing and you know you're at a legit place! Ordering: -Check out their menu while waiting in line so you know what to order when it's your turn. -place order at register. They accept visa, Mastercard, Venmo, cash, but does NOT accept AMEX. - grab your drinks if you purchased some. Mexica soda, horchata, jimicama drinks, water , etc - give your ticket to the expeditor and tell them to go or dine there. The expeditor will ask you cilantro, onions, and salsa on a taco? Say yes. It's a must. The expeditor will tell the chefs to assemble your tacos. (I'm seriously so impress with how efficient and quick their service goes. We waited maybe 5-10 mins and got 5 tacos and chips/salsa. There was about 8 ppl in front of us but the lines go quick. If you ordered chips and salsa then you will get the chips from the cashier and the salsa from the expeditor. * 1 Al pastor taco on flour 4/5: love the fresh pineapples on it! The Al pastor had crispy pieces and was super tasty! It was really tasty. There were pieces of meat that was dry but the salsa helped and pineapple. Season was really good! I was in awed with how tasty it is! Definitely best Al pastor in ATXi had! * 1 Campechano on flour 5/5: wow best of both worlds! I had this taco second and loved the combo flavor! Juiciness of the carne asada and crispy frol the Al pastor. * carne asada on flour 5/5: juicy perfectly seasoned and love the green sauce on it! Sauce was creamy and paired well with the taco. It was so so freaking good! The flour tortilla is super thin and let the meats stand out. Loaded Smokey taco and was differently the best carne asada I've ever had! After trying the carne asada I definitely think it's better than Al pastor! I'm glad I tried the Al pastor taco first before the carne because I think the carne asada would have outshine the Al pastor if I had it first. It was a great end to the last taco! * 1 VOLCAN- couldn't try because it was sold out * chips and salsa 4/5: chips crispy and not oily. Salsa was super spicy but good. All tacos come with onions cilantro and salsa with no additional cost. Overall do I recommend this place? I truly wish I tried this place 5 yrs ago when I moved to ATX! I truly highly recommend this place! Do not wait 5 yrs to go try this place or you will be full of regrets! It's a simple taco but made right with complex balance and flavors! I love love love it and now will be thinking about these tacos! Highly recommended! Prices are reasonable and the tacos are made with love!

But the five stars is for the guacamole. The Chicken Pibil Quesadilla "Pizza" (chihuahua, cotija, oaxaca, smoked tomatoes, jalapeño, chimichurri, crema, epazote) was good, but the guacamole was stellar, and we are picky. It could have been the pomegranate or the pickled jalapeño or the red onion (all listed on the menu), but I really think they juiced a whole lime. It is like "try to replicate at home" good. We found their sign down on the street and decided to try them. Immediately upon walking in, we felt unwelcomed. Twenty minutes later, we went back up to ask about the table and were actually told by the staff that they forgot about it. Finally a table was set for us and we sat down. We all ordered drinks and asked for water at this point. The water was brought, but we waited and waited for our drinks. After another 20 minutes and watching the bartenders (who were not busy this evening) make no moves to make our drinks, we got up and left. I have never had such an experience at a restaurant before.
