3.5 stars but i'll round up. I go here for the breakfast tacos and the al pastor plate. They don't have much of a choice in regards to salsas, but I will say that i do like the one salsa they do have. staff is always smiley and friendly. Food is cheap and good too. The food portions are very generous. I wish they were open later to quench my drunken cravings for Mexican food. Sometimes, Taco Bell just won't cut it. I do want to go in and try their Menudo, but the catch-22 of a hangover cure is that you have to figure out a way to get there when you wake up. read more

I don't understand the rest of these reviews - it just wasn't good! I got the chicken fajita enchiladas, and I'm not really sure what they did to it. First of all, it was almost entirely cheese - like a couple cups of cheese on top. Second, the meat was clearly not cooked at all inside of the enchiladas, just grilled and then placed in. There was no flavor to it and I had to give up eating it eventually because it was torturous. The flavors were all so separate and bland that it tasted like I was eating plain grilled chicken, a tortilla and then a handful of cheese. read more

I come here at least every other weekend. I loooove their salsa and breakfast menu. The wait staff is excellent and service is speedy. Super clean and they just added extra seating. Get the fajita omelet, el vazco breakfast sandwich or 2 eggs with barbacoa. read more

Pancakes are amazing! But beware- they are large so I wouldn't order three. They aren't very sugary-they are more fluffy, buttermilk style which I love. They taste very homemade and natural. Eggs were delicious too. read more

It was good. Got the barbacoa based on other reviews. It wasn't the best barbacoa I've ever had. I honestly think chipotle serves up a better taste. But if you get the flour tortillas you can just mix it all together and have a flavorful bite. The salsa for your chips is pretty spicy. Put it on your meat though. Gives it the kick it kinda needs. Ok, reviews before coming didn't prepare me for how solid the migas rancheras were. I have had migas everywhere and these rank among the top 20%, among standouts Kerbey Lane and Blue Corn Harvest Cafe. Absolute sweetheart of a waitress who recognized I could speak Spanish and never spoke a word of English with me. The chorizo+egg taco was 7 out of 10, not as spicy as I'd like but the refried beans on the migas plate were a cut above the norm. For the value, this place is a 5. And the place was much cleaner and weel adorned than reviews made it out to be. read more

Tacos are the BEST!!! Barbacoa is my go to for a hangover, always works and theirs is the best on this side of town. I don't eat menudo but I tried theirs and it has changed my mind about it. Moving from San Antonio to NW Austin I found it really hard to get a good authentic Mexican restaurant until I found this place. Highly recommended. The only downside is they only have one register which gets dine-in people and those ordering to go all in the same line. If ordering to go I recommend to call in about 10 minutes before you plan to show up or else you could end up waiting for a long time. read more

I can only comment on the tacos, and they are exceptional. Particular standouts are the adobado tacos, with tender hunks of pork simmered in a green chile sauce, and the barbacoa, with a crisp, smoky flavor and not too much drippy fattiness. read more

My husband I used to love this place. Until our waitress was rude and charged an illegal, "included" tip. It was us and our 4 kids. First off, I've never heard of an included tip with children. I don't usually like Mexican food and I hate to generalize food, but I am lactose intolerant and don't enjoy beans so that usually limits my choices. With that said, I loved Vazquez because their meat is amazing. Their salsa is spicy and delicious and the wait staff is really nice. Very small place but packed, I like the prices and also the food was good. Great place for a quick meal if you are in that part of Austin.

Tried the recommended Barbacoa taco, Jose's Taco Trailer at Pond Springs and Anderson Mill has this place blown away.

Now that my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area Margaritas is closed, I had to find a new spot. Tried this place today. I had one of their lunch specials that had a cheese enchilada and a taco. It was OK but nothing more than average. They claim their salsa is world famous. Odd since it is just puréed tomatoes with a little bit of spice. I guess it's jalapeño, but hard to tell. I found the lunch specials to be overpriced and the food to be average. I am still looking for a Margaritas replacement. Doubtful I ever return to Vasquez. Jardin Corona and Camino Real are close by. Both are better than Vasquez, but I sure miss Margaritas read more

Came in on a Wednesday for breakfast because I was in the area and saw a review that their migas were good. They are excellent! The chips are extremely crunchy and not soggy. The jalapeños are fresh and crunchy. Best migas I have had in the Austin area. One negative - the tortillas were clearly store bought and not very good. But I felt the migas themselves were so good that it is worth the trade-off. I was the only dine-in customer and only saw a few take-out customers. Seems like a well kept secret. read more

I'd say this place suffers mostly from bad bad decor and from overrated yelp reviews. There's random fake plants everywhere and bad tiled floors. The food I had was pretty standard Mexican restaurant fare and my girlfriend said everything she had was too spicy. The salsa was really something special though! It was kind of a weird consistency that coated the chips and it was just delicious. Way better than most free salsa at these places. I love the breakfast tacos here especially the picadillo. I've never had a salsa like their's It's potent and seemingly is made of pureed peppers. The staff is great and food is wonderful. Try the nopales (cactus) and egg tacos for something a little different. Small place, cheap prices. read more

Their servings are huge! A coworker and myself decided to order a quesadilla each and share the nachos... OMG... I ate one nacho! The chicken quesadillas are good and came with guacamole, lettuce and sour cream although I would have also preferred a little salsa for additional flavor. Over all yum! read more

Like everyone's saying, this is classic hole in the wall, lunchroom with plain tables and chairs, no fancy stuff Mexican. We've driven by it a thousand times on the way to the Drafthouse and other things and it never even registered that it was there. The breakfast tacos hit the right spot on the continuum between cheap and delicious and they know how to use spices to bring out flavor rather than making everything ridiculously hot. I usually love whole in the wall joints but this place was a big disappointment. Our service was great but the salsa was very watery, and the queso tasted like it wasn't made fresh and was also super watery. The actual enchilada meal had no flavor and the sauce tasted like can enchilada sauce topped with huge chunks of beef that also had no flavor. I do not recommend this place. read more

The truth the food it's normal but super expensive I was buying dinner to go , because they close at 3PM. I don't want to cook, and I ask for two orders of dinner with. A fajita taco, they charged me almost 9 Dollars I was wow good deal!!! But They take forever and I was thinking well the rice the beans and the tacos because. You know, and one of the girls say with onions too? I say with everything!!! Ordered the Carne Guisada, it was OK at best. Flores has better food. I gave two stars because the chips were the best I've ever had. They are so light and airy, like Bugles. Carne Guisada is tastier in Cali or homemade. Barbacoa was extremely greasy. Sorry Texas. read more
