Over the past few months, I've undertaken an informal tour of breakfast tacos in the Parmer Lane area, treating myself to a little pre-workout snack on Friday mornings as a reward after a long week. I am pleased to announce that Tortillería Krystal is the place I love best and will probably be my go-to from now on. My standard order is the migas taco with pico de gallo on a flour tortilla. It comes packed with fluffy egg, fresh avocado, shreds of cheese, and a nice kick of diced jalapeños. I have tried at least a half dozen other tacos in this area, from gas station convenience stores to local Mexican markets, and this one is just simply the best. You can also sit down and enjoy your taco inside the small seating area -- it never seems to be super busy. I also like that they have a convenient hand washing station. Seems very clean and tidy. Took 30 minutes to get our order. Only one there at 6am. The order was wrong. The breakfast tacos were half wrapped, the cheese was falling out into the bag. The chorizo & egg taco was so greasy that it just about slipped out your hands. The potato, egg, and bean taco had way too much beans and barely any potatoes or egg. The tacos are okay - nothing really stands out as spectacular. Adding cheese is really expensive. Service could be much better. The salsa's are kinda bland and they also does not give a lot. I'm not sure if they charge extra if you ask for more as it's difficult to communicate. It's one of the few taco places nearby so I like the convenience when I'm in a hurry. But generally, there are better places not too far away if you are willing to drive a bit further. read more

Food was meh... Restuarant smelled of a hairy summer arm pit. Menu stated a specific price but when you try to pay, the cashier points to a fuzzy photocopied menu that is $1-3 dollars more exspensive although there are no visible signs stating all food will have an upcharged at the register. I would prefer to eat at Taco Bell before I visit Krystal's again. I really dislike Taco Bell. Oh, I forgot to mention there were plenty of house flies to land on your food and drinks if you would like to keep yourself busy for the duration of your visit. read more

Excellent food, excellent service. I came during the morning rush. They have all the standard breakfast items from breakfast tacos to pancakes. Well cooked and very good. The restaurant is upkept well and clean. I highly recommend for some authentic mexican food. read more

This joint is probably out of the way for most but it is a 2-minute drive for me from work. I've heard rumors that their full breakfast and lunch offerings are fabulous but I've only hit them up for my their breakfast tacos. Usually, you hear good, fast, cheap pick two. With these folks, it's 3-out-of-3. Their breakfast tacos are served fresh and you have a choice of wheat or corn tortillas. My go to is the potato, egg, and cheese. One will usually fill my panza. I purchased 10 tacos on my last trip and the bill came out to ~$22. You can't beat that with a stick! Friendly folks and good food. If you are in the area give em a shot! read more

Should've made my own nachos: ground beef was ok, melted velveeta type cheese was a little runny and watery. The chips got soggy fast. Overall kind of bland. Lemonade was way watered down. When hunger calls, convenience is key. A quick search on my phone revealed Krystal Taqueria to be a short 5 mins drive. Picked up the phone, made an order, and received my food 5 mins later. For speed and convenience, this place deserves a solid 5 stars. For food quality, it's a soft 3. I ordered some al pastor tacos on corn tortillas (my go-to). The meat tasted disappointingly bland despite the appearance. Even the salsas did nothing for me-- no spice, no flavor. Is my hunger satisfied now? Yes. Will I return here? Maybe. In Austin, there are definitely other solid Mexican food places worth checking out first! read more

We made an impromptu visit here for some quick breakfast tacos. The staff was very nice, the food was okay. Everything was really cheap though! We ordered 2 migas, 2 bean and egg, and one sausage egg taco. I'm not sure how common it is but there were bits of tortilla chips in our migas tacos... a little different from what we're used to. The bean and egg tacos were refried, not black, not a big deal - just FYI. Didn't have high expectations, just really hungry stomachs, we left satisified. read more

Hole in the wall type of place but surprisingly clean and cozy inside. I ordered pork in salsa and it was incredible. Only thing I'd say is it was too much salsa for a to go order so it got a bit messy. The carnitas tacos was stuffed. Both generous with the meats. read more

So after a whole year 12 months to be exact,I went back to see if the food had improved. Unfortunately, sadly it hasn't. I ordered 1 beef fajita taco and 1 chicken fajita taco. The lack of flavor was only surpassed by the realization that not one single spice was used, tasted, smelled or swallowed from either taco. Another great lunch here. This time I decided to try their breaded shrimp. The plate was very large and plentiful. The fried shrimp was amazing, just like and even better than some seafood restaurants. Comes with 4 tortillas which I used to make tacos. Tacos were pretty good. I tried the al pastor, beef fajita and barbacoa. I loved the al pastor. The other two were good but nothing compared to the al pastor. The salsas aren't all that spicy unfortunately. I like my salsa verde with a kick! But all in all, I'd come back for some decent tacos. Hi, so I just left this place and one of their staff working the waitresses brought me the wrong order so I explained to her what I did order and she wants to correct me by telling me that this is what I ordered. Once I explain to her what I ordered she wants to be rude and say fine she will change it and walk away laughing. So I cancelled my order and will NOT be going back. Inexpensive Mexican food east of hwy35 off Howard ln. located in a plaza next to gas station and hair salon this restaurant is a small mom and pop doing it right. They focus on quality food.. I've never once been disappointed. Soups. Tacos. Plates. I particularly enjoy ordering the shrimp and fajita parriada served sizzling on a hot skillet. I first stopped by this place because of the name and I am very happy that I did. I have been here three times so far because it's good and close to both my home and my place of work. Make no mistake: this restaurant is small, and serves simple, traditional Mexican food. I came here with 7 co-workers for lunch and we pretty much took up the whole place (there were a couple more tables to spare). One co-worker grew up in Mexico City, and he authenticated the place. As another reviewer mentioned, the corn tortillas are fantastic! My Mexican co-worker actually bought a bag to go since he can't make them any better. The corn tortilla chips are also very nice (and also available by the bag). So far, I have enjoyed the pollo flautas and the pastor lunch plate (served with the above mentioned soft tortillas). Two of my co-workers really liked the carnitas plate. I will definitely have to try out their tacos next. read more

They just opened a new location in Manor, TX. I have been there twice. Not impressed. There menu is in Spanish and English is not the staffs 1st language so it limits your ordering opinions. This first time there I ordered a taco, burrito and menudo. Taco was good, burrito would have been if it didn't have an avocado, menudo wasn't bad but there is better in the area. The 2nd time time I ordered Pozole. It was so hot it started melting the container. I was afraid it was going to have plastic taste. They put all the garnish in one package so it all or nothing, it was real fatty and the meat was mussy. Because it is so close I will probably go back but it won't be first choice. read more

I got potato, egg and cheese breakfast tacos. They were not terrible but based on reviews my expectations were a bit higher. The potatoes and eggs were almost flavorless. It did not taste like there was even any salt or pepper. I had two tacos and since they were not individually wrapped it appeared to just be one large taco. Not that big of a deal but when I tried to take out just one taco, they were stuck together. It made a giant mess which was frustrating. My boyfriend got bacon, potato and cheese, he said they were okay but we've definitely had better. It was $10 for four tacos, we definitely could've gotten better for the price. They supposedly make their tortillas fresh which I always appreciate in a taco but these tortillas did not taste very fresh. read more

My partner and I tend to go here to get breakfast tacos to take home, as we only live a couple of blocks away. When we've eaten there, the service has been okay - not great, but not terrible. I love, love their tortillas - they're made fresh in-house, and they're the best tortillas I've ever had. Their breakfast tacos are also fantastic.I always get bacon, potato, and cheese (I don't eat egg), and the bacon is among the best I've ever had. They're a (relatively) new place, still, and so they do make some adjustments on their prices occasionally. The board is always up-to-date, but I've noticed some of the printed menus are not. My only real complaint (I don't mind non-stellar service or non-updated menus, as long as the updated prices are listed elsewhere - like the board behind the register) is they only have two types of salsa, and both are too spicy for me. This is probably not a problem for anyone else that lives in Texas, but I can't handle things that are too spicy - I'm a mild salsa kind of girl. read more

I had the chicken/beef fajita combo plate as well as the Pastor Taco (soft). Do yourself a favor and get a Pastor taco or plate. That pork is really delicious. Also the beef and chicken fajita meat is very well cooked and even a little crispy, which I love. Decently priced as well.
