The breakfast tacos are simply amazing. I picked up about 30 breakfast. Tacos for some clients and let me tell you what they were a hit. The green sauce is simply amazing. Oh my God, I haven't tried green sauce like this in forever. There used to be this one spot in Houston, that would make it just like this. I mean identical. Very unique tasty spicy green sauce. The tacos are made fresh to order and they're simply amazing. Every bite was top-notch. I really enjoyed the breakfast, tacos. I will definitely go back to try the lunch tacos. The customer service is amazing. They had my order ready to go. The owner was there. He was nice. All of the cooks were nice. The cashier was nice. Everybody was very friendly and they did an excellent job. I'll be back soon to try more things off the menu.

Such a welcoming small Mexican restaurant ran by a wife and husband duo. We got the chile verde enchiladas, huarache, and queso and the queso was absolutely to die for though I wish it was a bit spicier or came with jalapeños. The huarache is made with a blue corn tortilla base and is lathered with refried beans and a very rich shredded chicken. The shredded chicken in the enchilada is also so delicious but the salsa verde sauce does lack flavor. Overall very delicious spot and the kindness of the owners makes the experience that much better.

This is a perfect take out spot! I got the chile verde enchiladas to go and they were so good. The beans and rice were fine but I think the beans were under seasoned. The service was great and fast. The restaurant itself is small and nothing special but perfect for what it is. I will definitely order from here again!

We had a craving for good Mexican food for dinner and went solely based off reviews. This quaint spot looked perfect for a low key dinner with kids. To start, we were surprised that they didn't serve margaritas. Looked like they may not have a liquor license. Not a requirement, but something to be aware of as we were not The portions were very generous and the salsa was a hit with everyone in my family. The burrito was just ok while the cheese burger was surprisingly good and much too large to be a kids meal. My wife probably would have been happier if she didn't try to modify her Chilaquilles. The service was very attentive. My son was hungry and plowed through a lot of chips and salsa and they were quickly refilled. Overall, the food portions were so big we went home with leftovers, but the food itself was just ok. We did notice that they did takeout and would come back for picking up a quick Mexican fix.

I've been come to this restaurant for a year or so now, they make super fat burritos and decent Tex-Mex plates. It's your average Tex-Mex joint, no more, no less. They are always super quick and very nice. It's easy to just drop by for breakfast and they whip out your breakfast so fast you could probably stop in before work and not even loose much time. Great cooks great, service, come check it out.

They have these hanging by the restrooms for picture taking.

The service is good. Food is good, big selection of dishes. Recommended for Mexican food.

Not enough seating, sparsely furnished. Seated near the front. Chips are ok, not tasty but fresh. BYOB alcohol. Salsa good but not hot.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. Amazing taste, flavors, just the right amount of marinade on the Carneasada with a hint of lime. It was so delicious while enjoying the ambiance.
