On Monday the 27th I paid for documents to be sent express mail, overnight, from Washington DC to a business address in Scotts Valley. The documents were scheduled to arrive the evening of the 28th, but they did not. I was leaving the next day, and needed those documents for a trip out of the country. I delayed my departure, and went to Post Office in Scotts Valley, hoping perhaps the package was in their distribution area and I could just pick it up. I was told by staff there that they called the delivery driver, that he had the package, and that he would be delivering it between 10-10:15 AM to the Postal Annex where I have a mailbox. So, I delayed my departure in order to wait for these important documents. At 10:45 when he arrived, he said he did not have the documents, that they called him to ask his ETA but never asked if he had my package. And, he did not have it and knew nothing about it. Unable to wait longer, and since nobody could tell me where the package was at that point, we left town. At 3:34 PM, I received notification that the driver had attempted to deliver the package but the Postal Annex was closed. Nope, they don't close until 5:30PM. So, I called the Postal Annex to find out if they may have closed early. Nope. The owner of Postal Annex confirmed they were, indeed, open. That they were waiting for my package and knew they'd have to hustle to send it overnight to my layover location in Oregon. (Excellent customer service by THEM!) The owner called the post office and told them their delivery person had lied because they were there, they were open, and they were waiting for my package. Magically, the driver returned at 4:03 PM to deliver my package. Interestingly, the tracking information no longer showed the "unable to deliver message" as if it had been deleted. I now have to pay $95 to have it over-nighted to Oregon. I have to use UPS, because that was the only option so late in the afternoon. Our USPS has a terrible reputation and I do my best to avoid them at all costs. This is why. Do better. read more

The staff at the post office are great. The problem is sending packages is so damn expensive now. And twice I have paid for three day service and instead of it arriving as promised. It arrives whenever they want it to. Whatever you do people. Don't pay for the three day service. You'll get the same service for the cheaper rate. It's a scam. And they don't tell you that three day service is not guaranteed. But they'll gladly take your money. And they refuse to take responsibility or refund your money when it arrives 5 to 7 days later. read more

If you prepare mailings yourself using Click-and-Ship and you want to walk it into the post office and get proof that they received it ("incoming scan") don't bring it here because they are incapable of this routine transaction. My work requires me to send a priority mail package about every 3 days, and I have tried using this office probably about 10 times over the last 5 years unsuccessfully. Virtually every other office has no problem with this . I could tell you about another experience I had with this office, but it is so incredible, I can hardly believe it myself. read more

I have only had positive experiences at SV Post Office. On one occasion I had a few boxes to pick up and too many to carry in one load. I just had a run in with the postal delivery person who REFUSED to pick up the out going mail in the out going mail box in my condo complex. He told me "forgets" to pick up the mail from the outgoing mail boxes. No wonder why my bills are always late because they sit there for days in the out going mail box. This post office is often under investigation from what I have heard. Do yourselves a favor - don't use this post office and make the drive to the post office downtown Santa Cruz or on Seabright. The mail is always late - every time it's out for delivery, you can count on it not showing up that day and possibly being marked as "held at post office upon customer request". Mail carrier often won't deliver packages to the door, they will only put them in a parcel locker and if all the lockers are full they leave a slip in the mailbox that says failed delivery because customer wasn't home/held at office by customer request with "final notice" marked and a return to sender date written out that's less than a week out. Have to go to the office itself to get packages they claim they attempted to deliver and never did. Have also had a package go missing for a couple days after this process and was told to just come back later and maybe it will be there. read more

I just went to see how much extra it would be to ship a package after the buyer only paid for a certain amount of weight. The lady behind the counter is very rude. Was yelling at a woman with her kids to not take her card out of the reader she then proceeded to yell at me to walk around the counter as that's where her line started. Let's face it...the post office is never a 'goto' destination for fun however it doesn't have to be a outlet for rude behavior. First the mail delivery in Scotts Valley is 'Vintage'... i.e., it's much like living in the 1800s... you might get your package... it might be delayed by a grizzly bear attack.... who knows!? In a nutshell postal delivery is very very very (very) sketchy in Scotts Valley. Soooooo after tracking several packages that never arrived I was presented with a 'Available for pickup' online notification! Wonderful...I'll just pop down and pick them up! I get there and show them the tracking numbers. The clerk looked puzzled at the numbers as if this was the first time she had seen a tracking number. Then I was asked "What is your address". The package was delivered to my work address which I had to think about for a second. Before I could answer the clerk said in a loud voice "What is wrong? Don't you know your own address??". I looked at her and made very very clear eye contact and said: "Ma'am...the package was supposed to be delivered to my work and I don't have that address on the tip of my tongue. The online notification said ready for pickup. Also I bet you could ask that question again in a manner that is not so rude" At this point I heard a couple giggles from the people waiting in line. The postal agent then went looking for the packages but could not find them. She asked a colleague who said to her and to me "Oh.... the online notifications are misleading... Available for pickup means they will try to deliver it again within the next couple days". Ok... wasted lunch break.... rude agents... misleading information... Apology for the experience? nope I manage a customer support department and when training I use the post office and DMV as examples of what NOT to do for customer support precisely for these reasons. Certain agencies who provide required services often think they can treat (or mistreat) people in any way they wish because...well... where else can they go? Since there is no alternative you have to put up with the rudeness. I read a book a long time ago called 'Illusions' by Richard Bach (highly recommended ). Each chapter would be prefaced with a poem. One chapter I apply to this experience... "Argue for your limitations and sure enough they're yours" Dear Scotts Valley Post office... Updated Review: everything from the original review still rings true today, however now they also have shady and illegal tactics going on with their tracking. The regularly don't send the truck for the even numbers on whispering pines drive when they are behind or down staff, they always favor the odd addresses. Worst part is they still say "out for delivery" and don't update it until after they freaking close, purposely not letting us have a chance to pick it up and effectively stealing our mail. I recently got email notification that a package was delivered 'in/at mailbox' and sure enough when I went to get my package it wasn't there. I have a locked mailbox so I knew it couldn't have been stolen. I was stressing out and even asked my neighbors to check their mailboxes. I ended up calling USPS call center and getting a case # so it could be investigated. I received a follow up call from SV Post Office that they checked the gps of the scanner and it was scanned and delivered when the email said it was. Well it wasn't! And my package magically appeared 4 days later in my mailbox. I was pretty pissed especially because this has happened before. I ended up calling SV Post Office and speaking with Robin. I wanted to let her know my package finally arrived and that this wasn't the first time that had happened. Robin was so kind and sweet. She listened to everything I said without cutting me off. She explained that they are understaffed and are sending new people to fill the routes. She assured me that she would follow up with whoever the carrier was that scanned my package as delivered when it wasn't. My interaction with Robin made me feel much better about the situation. I can see why this post office gets bad reviews. I have gone many times and have had many good experiences, but i have also experienced ridiculous incompetency, so I'll give a middle rating. Now to the matter at hand. I won't name names. I went to Post Office to find out how to get my mail held for a year while I travel. I asked numerous questions, including, "Is there a form i need to fill out?" Lady says No. After i go to my car, i think about how, if they only hold mail for 30 days, it probably won't work to initiate the hold online. So i go back in, and, fortunately my husband was still doing a transaction at the counter, because the wait in line had already been 1/2hr. I ask her about the online Hold system. She says it won't register a year, i need to fill out this form (12 of them, one for each month) that is sitting right there on her counter next to where i was standing!!! Need i say more? read more

I always experience excellent service from the employees at the Scotts Valley US Post Office. Everyone there is knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. In the last four months our packages have been delivered to the wrong address FOUR times! We've lost hundreds of dollars in items, luckily Amazon Prime was able to refund us. It happened again yesterday, we had three packages coming and all three are in another box! How is it that someone who is payed to delivere our mail be so wreckless with it? I manage a Mobile Home Park, located at Portola Drive, Santa Cruz, Ca 95062. Our property is serviced by Scotts Valley Post Office facility. We have 40 mobile homes in our facility. We had not had any mail delivery since 12/18/20 that is 10 days.I had made many complaints online, all with no resolve and made many attempts to call facility, mostly the phone just hangs up after 12 rings. I was able to reach a real person on the phone 2 times only in those 10 days, one was Haley and the other was Reti. I explained my situation of not receiving any mail for our whole property and all of our tenants, but they both informed me that our normal carrier is on vacation, but offered me no solution to the problem. So does that mean that no one that was on his scheduled route gets any mail delivery because usps does not have a replacement for him while he was off work? That is ludicrous in this day and age. And unacceptable. After doing some investigation, I found out that most of my area along Portola Drive in Santa Cruz also experienced no mail deliveries whatsoever,since 12/18. All my residents were complaining to me about not receiving any mail service since 12/18 , including myself,which being a property manager, i was expecting rent checks and bills for our property. While no one wants to go to a crowded post office with 15 + people in line in a small space, with COVID conditions the way they are, I felt it was my duty so I went up to scotts valley post office today. I patiently waited in line, only to be waited on by a very rude, unhelpful Asian clerk who tried to brush me off after I explained my dire situation. I finally made enough noise to have her retrieve Reti, the manager? I explained the situation calmly to him and he again informed me that our normal carrier was on vacation but they will have someone deliver mail today. Several hours later, some of my mail was delivered but not all. Most of my tenants have gotten some mail but not all. Given the circumstances, I wanted to share our situation with you. read more

Even before covid, trips to any post office was never my favorite errand to run (you just never know how long the line is going to be) but I don't particularly mind this post office. The main lady behind the counter is always nice along with the workers. I get they stressed sometimes, especially around the holidays, but they do try to do their best even when it comes to technical difficulties that are beyond their control. read more

Once again the Scotts Valley Post Office doesn't disappoint (Sarcasm). Yet another package of mine has been marked delivered but there is no package to speak of. I'm not sure why this particular USPS hub is so bad at delivering mail. Sometimes our mail isn't delivered until 9:30pm. They may be under staffed but come on. If the package isn't going to be delivered then just say it won't be delivered today and be done with it. Don't pad your numbers by saying it was delivered. This is the worst post office I have ever had to deal with. They lie and are extremely rude. I literally stood on my steps, watched the mail carrier drive past my house, deliver a package to a neighbor 2 doors down, get back in their car and leave. I then get a notification they "tried to deliver but the front doorway or driveway was not accessible". I put in a complaint online and get a call from a rude woman "supervisor" saying the carrier didn't lie that she was out on her route too long and the supervisor sent her a message to return to the office immediately... ok so I get it, they have a lot of mail to deliver and shit happens with timing but she DID lie by saying the door/driveway was inaccessible! And why did she drive past my house to deliver 2 doors down? Don't you think in an effort to save time you would go in order? Packages often delivered to the wrong address. I have received packages that were not addressed to me as well as my neighbors receiving packages that were to be delivered to my address. On numerous occasions I have gotten a tracking update that my package was delivered and end up receiving it yo to 4 days later. I have lost all faith in this post office. read more

First, the regular postal carrier is a prince. But USPS has become increasingly unreliable over the past two or three years. Mail isn't delivered at all once every second or third month. In January, I didn't receive mail for two days. I order from Amazon regularly and the post office constantly misses the delivery date. The only intelligent people in this post office are the main manager and the sweet brunette lady. I am sorry to bring them down in this review. But this has to be known. The blonde Oompa Loompa lady is a straight up mean bitty!! I don't understand what I have ever done to her. It does not matter if I come in and try to be sweet she is always nasty. She should never be in client facing rolls if this is her attitude. Recently I went in to ask where my package was that was shipped and signed on the morning prior(I pay for shipping and it shouldn't take extra days because the post office can't get it together). She insisted that after I SHOWED her the proof of delivery. That there must be a mistake because 'Brad' goes by Bradford instead of Bradley. Like my ups tracking was wrong or fraudulent. And my favorite brunette stepped in and had to explain her job to her she huffed and walked in the back. Low and behold my package in her hands.... With no apologies wouldn't even look me in my eyes. I am usually pretty easy going unless I get push off and blatantly disrespected. There is no reason that should ever happen if I pay for a box. I payed for a service that you aren't giving. Plain and simple. The only reason why I brought it up was because they have lost several packages in the past. Simple mistake right? Wrong. My keys for the boxes were in the wrong box completely. When they attempted to find the master key to open all the boxes to find my things they only located one of five missing items. Also they don't check the key boxes. There should be a time limit you get to pick up from the key boxes. Otherwise people that don't always come and get their mail the next day just sit in there and no one else can get there mail with out seeing that god forsaken creature.
