never thought i'd leave a yelp review for a post office but i felt the need to say this is the best…read moreone i've ever had out out of anywhere i've ever lived. everyone i've ever interacted with (mail carriers, in the post office itself, on the phone, etc.) have been a total joy. john our mail carrier is just amazing- so kind, generous, & i always look forward to seeing him. and jennifer at the post office is so incredibly helpful (when i had a mail hold and a package had been scanned but not delivered (FYI i now know that it'll be scanned even with a mail hold on & delivered later), she helped me track it down and got in touch with john who even got it & delivered it that same day after the normal delivery. the team here really does seem to care & always seems to go above and beyond. will really miss them when i move out of pacific grove!

I needed to ship off my passport renewal application and was too afraid to do it in my own. I came into this location for assistance with shipping out my package and ensuring I have all of the right documents. The first person to help me was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, when we got to the end of my package she informed me that I have to pay either by check or with a money order as this is all the department of state will accept for passport renewals. I was forced to leave, go to the bank, and come back. At this point, I was helped by a different employee that was helpful- but a little rude. Additionally, I noticed other employees being rude and snappy to customers.

A few days ago I was heading out my door and heard a honking. I opened the door and there was a postal truck with a guy getting out. It was later in the day. He approached me with a package for someone in my home. He told me that the package had just come in and he wanted to get it to us. He proceeded to tell me his staff had all left for the day so he thought he would do it himself. Wait?!?! Whaaaaat?!?! Your staff all went home and you drove all the way to our house to deliver this package after hours. Whoa! Who does something this awesome in this day and age? We rarely see this level of service anywhere... I asked him his name and he said it is Lamson. Lamson is the postmaster of the San Martin Post Office and this guy deserves to be recognized not only for his high standard of care for people in the community, but his dedication to his job and his high bar of excellence.I thanked him sincerely just blown away that he did this I was so blown away that I went to the Post Office the next day to thank him again and I also feel the necessity to recognize him publicly for who he is to our community. Please remember to thank this person when you stop in the San Martin Post Office. People in his position are always hearing complaints and are dealing with angry customers... especially at the Post Office. This guy needs to hear appreciation from the community for going the extra mile. I am quite sure we aren't the first people to receive his kindness and we won't be the last. People need recognition. After clarifying, the staff still appeared unsure how to process either the paper or electronic return receipt options, which led to significant delays and confusion. Ultimately, I spent much longer than necessary at the counter trying to complete a fairly standard mailing service. What stood out most was the lack of clear internal support or quick reference tools for staff when they're uncertain, which results in customers having to troubleshoot the process themselves. For a service as routine as Certified Mail with Return Receipt, I expected a smoother and more consistent experience. There were only two customers ahead of me and it took 35 minutes to send one certified letter.
