Here's what could improve.. empty your mail boxes more…read morefrequently so the elderly people who need to use the outdoor receptacles don't have to struggle to cram their mail into them. How long would that take ? 10 extra minutes ? Come on now.

On Monday the 27th I paid for documents to be sent express mail, overnight, from Washington DC to a…read morebusiness address in Scotts Valley. The documents were scheduled to arrive the evening of the 28th, but they did not. I was leaving the next day, and needed those documents for a trip out of the country. I delayed my departure, and went to Post Office in Scotts Valley, hoping perhaps the package was in their distribution area and I could just pick it up. I was told by staff there that they called the delivery driver, that he had the package, and that he would be delivering it between 10-10:15 AM to the Postal Annex where I have a mailbox. So, I delayed my departure in order to wait for these important documents. At 10:45 when he arrived, he said he did not have the documents, that they called him to ask his ETA but never asked if he had my package. And, he did not have it and knew nothing about it. Unable to wait longer, and since nobody could tell me where the package was at that point, we left town. At 3:34 PM, I received notification that the driver had attempted to deliver the package but the Postal Annex was closed. Nope, they don't close until 5:30PM. So, I called the Postal Annex to find out if they may have closed early. Nope. The owner of Postal Annex confirmed they were, indeed, open. That they were waiting for my package and knew they'd have to hustle to send it overnight to my layover location in Oregon. (Excellent customer service by THEM!) The owner called the post office and told them their delivery person had lied because they were there, they were open, and they were waiting for my package. Magically, the driver returned at 4:03 PM to deliver my package. Interestingly, the tracking information no longer showed the "unable to deliver message" as if it had been deleted. I now have to pay $95 to have it over-nighted to Oregon. I have to use UPS, because that was the only option so late in the afternoon. Our USPS has a terrible reputation and I do my best to avoid them at all costs. This is why. Do better.

I am currently dealing with a major digital security compromise and a pending police report, meaning I cannot safely access email on my phone and needed to use their customer computer. The customer computer was down. Instead of offering an alternative workaround to help a customer in a crisis, the employee (male with a dark beard, glasses, face mask, and hat) was incredibly curt, rigid, and dismissive. He flat-out refused to help, stating, "This is a business," and even lied by saying he didn't know the address of a nearby sister store to avoid looking it up. I literally stood in front of him and called the Menlo Park UPS store. They immediately agreed to help me print my documents using alternative methods, despite having the exact same technical outage. When I told this employee that the other store was willing to assist, he just gave a lazy, "Sorry, I can't." Avoid this location. If you expect standard problem-solving or decent human customer service, go to the Menlo Park location instead. They actually care about helping people.

I usually use them just to drop off outgoing Ebay packages, but even then, I get a hello or a smile, and a thank you, (for JUST dropping a package and leaving, which by the way, you dont need to wait in line to drop a pre-labeled package). The few times I have needed assistance in finding a box and figuring out the best shipping method for me and my buyer, they have been informative and showed me multiple options while giving ME the choice, and not forcing one on me. Sure the price to ship out from there may be a little above post office, but you are paying for extra attentive service, AND you DONT have to stand in that darned loooong post office line, which to me is worth it. They also have Internet access available on their 'customer use' computer, which was extremely helpful when my internet at home was down and I had to print an Ebay label by a deadline. ** Note to Ebay sellers, You can ALSO drop off your pre-labeled Fed-X packages there . Also quite convenient. All in all, I am VERY glad they are there, and will always go to them before I'd go to post office. (no offense to our hard working USPS workers, I just love this place, it fits my needs well)

"We don't have internet for customers, you need to go to the Starbucks across the lot". What? Ran to SB's where had to enter valid email (it detected my false email attempts to avoid spam), sent docs and ran back to Annex. Employee printed, then tried to Fax. it was busy again & again & again. I called the govt agency Inwas faxing to who said Fax was working fine on their end. Ran to UPS ScottsV where they sent it through first try and said it's not uncommon for print shops to still operate with outdated fax machines that are notoriously know to have issues. It about cost me my case. Can't express the helpfulness of the UPS staff vs the lacksidasical, non-caring attitude of Annex's staff.
