We love this little post office. The employees are always very knowledgeable and always have a smile on their faces.

Went to my passport appointment on 1/27. The man up front was very helpful and very informative about everything. He was very kind and had great customer service. After my passport, I needed to return a package and the lady up front was very helpful, went above what she needed to do to help me, and also she gave my little one a candy which he of course loved! I was in this Post Office in Aptos on Thursday morning Jan. 11, 2024 and had a really terrific man at the window help me to set up my PO Box. He answered all of my questions and showed me where my box was. I was really pleased with his service. My review relates to the "witch" that was working at the second window. She couldn't be bothered to even look up from the letters she was sorting in some capacity to greet me; I was the only other customer in the PO aside from the person the man at the counter was helping before me. During my transaction with the man at the counter, he needed to step away and retrieve the keys for my new PO Box and the awful "witch" deigned to help a customer. This other customer explained that she was there to pick-up a package that had been delivered to the PO by UPS as General Delivery and that she (the customer) had been notified of delivery by UPS the day before and that she would like to collect her package. I watched the counter "witch" step behind the customer service area and look at some shelves, this as the customer was explaining that it was a long package. The "witch" said, no strike that, shouted at the customer that "just because UPS said it was delivered didn't mean it had been". (Read the last sentence with a nah, nah, nah in your voice, please). The "witch" then growled at the customer to tell her what the tracking number was, to which the customer said my phone is in the car and I will go get it. At this point my super awesome counter man came back and I stopped paying attention to that transaction with the other customer. I am floored that the woman working at the post office counter still has a job!!!! I get that hiring is tough, but quite honestly who would want to work in place with co-workers of that poor caliber, knowing that management accepts that terrible behavior. I still need help with something from the PO and dread having to go in there again. I will only wait in line if I know the man is working that day. read more

Dear god this place SUCKS! First off they have one of the worst, if not the worst hours, and the staff are incredibly rude and stupid. The first bad experience I had with them was on Wednesday this week, when I arrived to the building there was literally no staff around to help anyone. But I heard them talking so I tried to open the door to get my package, it was locked. They just stopped talking for a few seconds, and continued talking. Not helping me at all! The second time I came, there was this one guy who I asked if I can get my package (because our mail man is beyond useless). And he had no idea what I was talking about. So I had to talk extra slowly and ask him for my package 3 times! When the NPC finally computed my request, he said "oh you have to come back tomorrow man!" He said this because you can't get deliveries after 4:30, when I asked him for my package it was 4:32! I said "it's 4:32" he said "well sorry man". I just whispered "how convenient" under my breath and walked away. I've never been to a place that closes so early in the afternoon. They have no excuse. I was supposed to get my package a week ago, but unfortunately due to these people being such a pain in the ass, I still don't have it. If these people actually did there job, I would of had my package a long time ago! I understand that Aptos is full of old people who go to bed at 3:30. This these hours are beyond inconvenient for everyone who's under 60! read more

Not sure there's much of a point in rating a post office but here goes nothing. Came in with my two young kids for a passport appointment a few days ago and can't even begin to describe how rude on of the women was - you'll know who she is. She was wearing a mask, gloves and glasses and was so rude to me and my family when we came in 5 minutes early to our passport appointment. My 5 year old asked me why she was so mad at us and why she was yelling because it was so over the top. The guy who helped us was nice and helpful but wow, will avoid this place at all costs. Also not an isolated incident- this happened at a previous appointment as well. read more

Out of the nearby post offices (Capitola Santa Cruz Soquel) is "was" better then the rest ... but now they have limited the lobby hours as of 5/16... lobby NOW closes at 6pm. Ugh!!!! ------------------------------ Good post office & they have a self serve machine. Only problem is that the NEWLY installed self serve machine has issues. These machines have always been touch screen BUT the touch screen on the new machine is HORRIBLE!... So use your FINGERNAIL don't use your fingerAnd the receipt font got so small -- get your reading glasses out for this one. read more

It's a post office, not the fast line at the grocery store. So I know if I'm in line, I just have to wait. It's usually not too bad. But the reason I am leaving a review is actually for a mistake that happened. I ordered something from Amazon that I never received. I was in the midst of trying to get them to replace my missing order, when a woman stopped by with my package that the postman accidentally left it at her house. We have the same house number but a different street name. So I called the Aptos post office to let them know. The post office person who answered was very apologetic and explained to me that the regular person had transferred and there was a new postman in our area. She said, "I'll make sure they know this happened because this is important. This should not have happened." She actually cared. I really appreciate that. read more

This is my local post office and that's a shame because I plan to never return as long as one particular clerk continues to work there. They nearly always have long lines, sometimes the holiday staff is a bit slow (I've had one ask me where Scotland was located and if Maryland is a state or not) and the place is covered in cobwebs but that's bearable, while this particularly rude and misleading clerk is not. To make a long story short, due to a miscommunication error in my confirmation email, this large blonde with a bun clerk rudely told me I needed either an ID or a passport. When I asked if a bank card, medical card, work ID, or piece of official mail in my name would work, she cut me off by repeating herself and snootily asked,"how else could we know you're who you say you are?". This wasn't a helpful suggestion of other forms of ID (since she kept on shutting down my suggestions/questions) this was her obviously being condescending and rude. Rudeness is one thing but it turns out she was WRONG. The USPS website under FAQ lists that both corporate IDs and utility bills are a fine sources of primary and secondary ID yet she just completely interrupted me when I even said the word,"mail". There are several other acceptable forms of ID on the website yet this clerk apparently was unable to say anything other than "ID or passport". If she had let me know the other forms of ID (two of which I had on me) I would have been fine, yet she clearly didn't know or care enough to let me know of the other options. Even if I didn't have anything that could help, her being so unhelpful and crude ensured I left shaken. I'm a quiet, apologetic person who can admit fault but she was just so unnecessarily cold. We seldom have to deal with ID at my job, and I'm aware of ALL types of acceptable ID there yet this government worker doesn't know them? Please. She's also been short when I've had questions in the past, and I generally have tried to avoid her if I have any sort of inquiry because I know she'll take answering a question as an major inconvenience. Our post carrier is also unhelpful, and has left passive aggressive notes in our box but compared to this woman, that's nothing. Basically every other post office in Santa Cruz is leagues better. The ones in Capitola and on Soquel ave are cleaner, have more and much nicer employees so the line moves faster, and they've never passive aggressively rolled their eyes when I come in ten minutes prior to closing (unlike the Aptos one where you'll feel their wrath if you dare enter anytime near closing, sorry people work later than 4pm I guess?). Soquel ave also closes at 5pm so even though it's farther away, I'd rather go there. read more

Great service. There's hardly ever a line, and when there is- it moves quickly. The staff is quick and efficient and always have an answer for my ridiculous questions. The clerk next to mine was not wearing a mask today (June 15, 2020). Everyone else visible in the building, employees and customers alike, were wearing masks. The clerk who served me insisted that I use "his" Sharpie to sign and date a document. I had my own pen, but he wouldn't let me use it. In the end, the Sharpie smeared so badly, he had to cover my signature with plastic tape. I was reluctant to touch the pen that he forced on me, not knowing who had touched it before. USPS wake up, this a pandemic and we're all in it. read more

5 Mail items dropped off near 9029 Soquel ave were never delivered to recipients. Called Aptos office to see what can be done, first time this has ever happened. Woman who claims to be the manager and refused to give her name was rude. Answer was basically tough s*** we process over 3 million pieces of mail and you've had 1 bad day, nothing we can do for you. I get it, this is not your fault, attitude adjustment will help you sweetheart. I asked how to go about filing a complaint to which she said you just did. Great, but who is it going to and you haven't taken down any of my info. Lady is upset that she has to do her job and explain how the postal system works. Disappointed with both outcomes of customer service and lack of resolution with the mail I sent out. Will be sending mail from physical post offices rather than drop off locations now, hopefully situation never repeats itself. read more

This post office has awful and very limited hours. They're only open until 4:30 pm Mon. - Fri. and closed on Saturdays. That's pretty pathetic being that not everyone in this area is retired and actually have to work (which usually means we take care of mailing personal items on weekends). it's a great post office. however, don't expect too many friendly people at the front desk. This place is always busy during daytime hours probably because it's the only one in aptos so there is a lot of traffic. They get the job done and they work hard, but i think they're all just really tired and that may come across as an unfriendly demeanor. The workers deserve a nice vacation read more

This location thinks they can do whatever they want. The postmaster Vickie Amarez is extremely rude to customers. She actually hung up on me during a phone conversation after repeatedly interrupting me. She thinks she can make her own rules as per package pickups and deliveries. She told me VERBATIM " Your media mail packages cost more for us to deliver than you pay in postage" This was her excuse for telling me why carriers would no longer pickup my 50LB boxes (the USPS employee application states "all applicants must be able to life 70lbs) just because they are either old and weak, or have work related injuries. How is it my fault as a customer that the carriers are now incapable of doing their job? She also stated that carriers "do not have to pickup packages if they dont want to" Really? Where does it say that the post office or the carriers reserve the right to refuse service? In my opinion, it is people like Vickie Amarez that are causing the post office to lose customers and go out of business, due to their own inability to follow the rules of a system that is much bigger than they are. If USPS has a Media Mail service, it shouldnt matter that a postmaster thinks "its not worth their time" they are just supposed to do a job, that apparently they dont want to do. Typical of GOV employees. If the USPS says I can mail packages up to 70lbs, then they should pick them up. I shouldnt have to sit around for a 4 hour span waiting for the carrier to show up, just so I can help them load the packages. Maybe they should relegate the carrier that can only lift 35LBS to lighter duty like in building letter sorting... I filed a complain with the Postmaster General, and we will see how this goes. I am currently heavily considering UPS or Fedex, as they offer a much more professional service anyways. read more

Turned down for having a lot of packages. No other location has ever done this. Says nothing about package restrictions on the website. This is equivalent to a store telling someone they are buying to much. Sad and lazy, avoid this post office. read more

I find the staff friendly and helpful . I also observe they seem to go out of their way, even at the busiest times , without losing patience etc. The only setback, not in their control, is the automatic weigh station in the lobby, which often malfunctions. read more

This branch closes its window at 4:30pm. I cannot get there before 4:30pm Monday thru Friday because of work. There are still lots of employees in the back - you can hear them. I realize they are mostly carriers returning from their routes, but surely there must still be a manager there. It seems they have a TSOL policy about helping you get your parcels if you get there at 4:31pm, however. I asked 'Can you put a note on my box to have my parcels (one is documents that must be signed and returned) put in a locker in the lobby? I can't get here before 4:30.' Reply "Oh, no! We can't do that!" There are some really nice people who work here, but I have to give low scores to this branch for customer service. The guy could have gotten me my parcels in less time than it took him to tell me about how he couldn't. There should be one person (manager?) assigned to 'answer the buzzer' for that last half hour or so. Why the manager cannot stagger the schedule to have someone fill this gap is a mystery to me, for sure. This was on a Monday. Now I have to wait until Saturday morning to get my stuff. If you have any other options for receiving your mail, I recommend using them. This post definitely doesn't put their customers first. read more

Having lived in city's all over the country and having used countless post office's over the last 30 years, I have never been to a better post office. The employee's are as nice as they come; they go the extra mile to help you out. I have never seen a line with more than 5 or 6 people in it. I have never waited more than 10 minutes. I'm honestly shocked that this post office would garner even the slightest negative review. Try going to the Culver City or Venice PO's, or any in Berkeley or SF. Start there, and then see how you feel about Aptos. We have got it sooooooo good. These people are wonderful. They actually seem to care about their work. I'm sincerely grateful that this is my local PO. read more

I received great service today, so I'll give them one more star. There was a line today. But this lady came from the back to help. She asked if there were any pickups or anything small she can help with. I just needed my mail to be weighed and she showed me a scale that they have for the public. We didn't need to use it. Great Post Office in Aptos. Lines are never long, staff is always friendly. I only wish they had some of the flat rate boxes out in the lobby all the time. After hours they've got the post machine that weighs and prints postage, which is awesome. Convenient place to handle your USPS needs. read more

I truly like going to this Post Office. What a great staff of very nice postal employees. They are very efficient at the counter and usually have 3 counter clerks to help the customers, which makes it a short wait during busy times. Supervisors jump in to retrieve pick-ups or take drop-offs of post-paid mailings so that the line doesn't get too long. The place is run right, which is a sign of good management. I will give this office a -1. they lost my parcel on a Saturday, I was at home waiting for my box, sow the mail person driving by, got my shoes on and there there was no parcel for me, check the USPS web and was saying they delivery my box on that day and time. I call the office and they told me What you want me to tell you?? Hum?? I go into this Post Office 1-2 times a week and I know pretty much all of the staff by name. I find them friendly, helpful and efficient every visit. Sometimes the lines are long but, in part, that is because the staff take the time to work with each customer to handle their questions and mailing issues - I've seen them help people package their items or add extra tape to ensure what they are sending arrives safely. read more

Post office lost my package and will not offer anything other than, sometimes it happens. Package had tracking, was logged in at the post office and logged as being delivered to my LOCKED mailbox, I am the only person with the key and I did not receive the package. Spoke with post office manager and she basically said too bad, nothing we can do. Sad that they really couldn't care less, gee I wonder why people prefer fed ex and ups- because these companies actually deliver your package so you don't have to buy your product twice. read more
