This is without a doubt the best UPS Store around. Some UPS store employees are rude. But I've had nothing but good friendly service here. Many times they've taken time to explain things clearly. I've seen an employee actually walk to the car to help out an elderly person that was having trouble carrying a package to the store for shipping. LIARS WORK HERE, stay away from all up charges, do not let them package an item for you. This location lied to my friend who was shipping a package to me from Santa Cruz to San Mateo. They up charged over $20 for a "fragile package" service which was entirely not needed and consisted of wrapping the items up in about 30cents worth of bubble wrap and tape. I did not ask for this service nor did I want it. This is very bad business practice to tell unsuspecting customers that a certain service is "required". I have personally shipped over 1500 items, as reselling is a hobby of mine, and I know for a fact what services I am able to decline or accept and according to my friend these employees gave him no other option but to use the upgraded "service". I received the package today which weighed a whopping 4 pounds and it didn't even have a single "fragile" sticker affixed to the box or shipping label. NOTHING indicating the items inside were fragile, which they absolutely were not. $40+ freaking dollars to ship an item over Hwy 17 to the Peninsula. COMPLETE SCAM ARTIST EMPLOYEES at this location, be wary. In comparison, I shipped a 7 pound box to North Dakota last night and it cost me $12 at USPS. read more

I went in needing a notary. They were quick in responding to my needs and they were very professional.

I was there today to use the notary with 2 of my home care clients. One is a quadriplegic and her husband has some dementia/cognitive issues. Christine took such great care of them! She was so kind and patient and compassionate towards the extra time it took for documents to be signed with an X while my client held a sharpie in her mouth. One of the other employees even signed as a witness because we were short one witness. They really couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Christine was very thorough with the documents too, as different protocols are used in California when signing X. She made extra sure it was done right, She also made a whole bunch of copies for them. They really did a great job today. Very impressive. I can't thank them enough. I hope this helps :) read more

I ordered a single black and white single sided resume. I called and asked how much a single print was, the person on the phone said it was something like 29 cents. When I went to pick it up they charged me an extra $2 for 5 minutes of "computer time". When I asked about the extra $2 charge she said it was because I emailed it and she had to look up the email it was $2 extra!!!! I told her I didn't use 5 minutes of computer time but I just paid it and left. Some things are just the point. I won't be coming back. I finished a huge order at fedex on the same day with no extra made up charges. read more

I was a mailbox customer here for many years. Years ago, the staff was great, and I can't remember a single error or problem. Even before the pandemic, this changed. In the past few years, they more regularly failed to file my packages correctly, and more often misplaced them than they managed to log and deliver them successfully. I also received packages in my box that were not addressed to me, but were filed as addressed to me (obviously, this confirms that my experience isn't isolated). The simple reality is that the staff doesn't understand that the reason a business keeps a mailbox is security and secure delivery and receiving. The worse discovery is that they really have no understanding of what a lost package can do to a customer when that customer is a business - how much cost may be lost, or how serious the fallout can be - and most importantly they simply don't care. I tend to think that the seemingly overreacting question "Is the staff stealing customers' packages?" (in other reviews) isn't that farfetched, following my experience of having multiple packages of high value disappear when they should have been waiting for me to pick them up. The staff lost multiple high value packages of mine, and the worst part isn't the loss of money, it's the damage that did to my professional relationships and the bummer of having to realize after over a decade of customer loyalty that, when they lost my packages - consecutive packages, not one here and one there - nobody on staff cared. They were not there to help, they were there to smile and not give a ----. Do not be fooled by friendly attitude. It is paired to incompetence (or possibly, as above, employee theft and managerial apathy). The staff here think that if they perform incompetently, as long as they do that with a pleasant smile, they have done a good job. They don't get it that not losing customers' belongings is more important than smiling when you repeatedly lose them. They don't get it that when you lose clients' property and clearly don't care at all, your chipper tone makes your lack of personal accountability translate into smug idiocy. Do not make the mistake of getting a box here, if you own a business. The reality is even worse than you think or would imagine from the bad reviews. If you own a business, they will lose your packages, which will damage your business and relationships, and they will not "get it". They cannot care, because they don't get it. read more

Wish I could give them less than one star. Went in asking for an envelope to mail a letter but didn't need air. Claimed they couldn't do that. Could I have a label or something to write the address down. Sorry we don't do that. But you can buy an envelope over there. Ok!! I grab a cardboard type blank envelope that they are willing to sell me for $1.49 and start to write the address on it. Another employee comes up and says you don't need to do that we put a label over it anyways. That's it!! I'm done!! Bye - never again. read more

I opened a mailbox today at the UPS Store in Capitola on 41st st. The staff was friendly, efficient and very helpful.

Avoid this place like the plague. When I signed up for a mailbox, the manager had a smart-ass remark for everything, and some could easily have been interpreted as slightly racist. I gave them money to forward some mail (I was travelling), but never got anything. Plus he conveniently "forgot" that he even got the money to do that. An overall bad experience from some very unprofessional shady characters. read more

Do not return USPS here! I've had two separate merchants report missing return items after I dropped off packages at this specific site. Since UPS does not provide receipts for dropping off USPS there is essentially no track record. I filed a complaint with UPS corporate and when I called the store manager on 41st he seemed indifferent to me asking where the missing (stolen!) goods were. Both items were clothing for an XS female, just a heads up. Avoid this place, shady stuff. read more

I've used their notary service twice and was in and out in like15 minutes. They do get really busy sometimes, and could use some more staff too help speed things up when that's the case. read more

Going to mail a package is right up there with going to DMV. BUT not the case with the UPS store on 41st avenue. In fact, I've been going there for years now and I have not once waited more than 10 minutes and generally I walk right up to the counter. I believe this to be due to the professionalism of the staff. I recently went there with an armful of packages, some wrapped and some not. Within minutes, Gavin had me feeling organized and relieved. He efficiently boxed my gift and he was also able to help keep my cost down. When I need to mail a package now, I look forward to working with not only a knowledgeable staff but a staff that makes me feel like my business matters. read more

The staff here are incredible!! I have rushed in many a time, panicked to get something sent "ASAP"...scan and send, download emails to print out, Notarized paperwork. As a Senior, I appreciate their "above and beyond " assistance they have always provided my husband and I. And the prices are extremely reasonable...like "one stop shopping " for today's technological world. No longer just a brown delivery van, dropping off packages.... One suggestion: Provide a TIP JAR for grateful customers!!!! They deserve acknowledgement for what they provide, UPS!!! read more

I went in last week to send something back that I received in the wrong size. The item came in in a fed ex envelope so I kept it in the same envelope to send back. The guy at the store put a new label on the package and asked if I wanted to have it sent through the post office since it is less expensive. I said sure why not! I received the package back in my mailbox a week later with a note saying that I had to use a new envelope to send the item back. I took it to the UPs store and they were not willing to take any responsibility for shipping this incorrectly and charged me again to ship the package. They gave me a dollar off though. Ooooh!! They said that they didn't send it back that the post office did and why should they be responsible for them. I said that I came to UPS for the service and they made the recommendation to use the post office to ship. They were incredibly rude to me when I aske why I had to pay twice for the same package and told me that I should just go to the post office from now on and that I didn't have to come back. I have shipped things from them before because it is convenient to my work but never again. At least now I don't have to smell the awful cologne that permeates the place the minute you walk in. There is that. And the downtown UPS is super nice and would never had treated me this way. I will go there from now on! read more

We were on vacation in Santa Cruz and my wife had ordered a few items of clothes to be delivered to our airbnb. We had to return most of it and ended up packing it all in one box and had 2 other boxes and lots of packing materials left over. We went to this UPS store and were promptly greeted by two employees. They quickly took our prepaid box and gave us a receipt and when we asked if they took shipping materials for recycling they looked at what we had and said "no problem, we can take care of this". It was obvious that they probably didn't normally take most of what we had but they were super nice and took it all and didn't make us feel bad about it. Great place. Great employees. read more

I have had pleasant experiences in the past at this store but today I had a very negative experience. I walk with a cane and I had 3 boxes to return including a huge box. The employees saw me walk in and just stared at me struggling with no offer to help. I set the boxes down on a counter and got in line in front of a woman who had just walked in and set things down after me. No one said anything to me about her being ahead of me until I went to step up to the counter after waiting for the person in front of me to finish. Then the unsmiling unfriendly employee told me in a very rude tone she was going to help the woman behind me first because her stuff was already on the counter. No real explanation. When I looked surprised and confused and said "really?" suddenly the excuse was "she just went to her car to get something so she's first". It think the employee lied because she saw us both get in line around the same time and decided the other person should go first. If she had just said "hey sorry I'm going to help her first because she was already here amd forgot something in her car" and acted even remotely friendly then it would have been fine. But she treated me like I had cut in line when I had already set my packages down and stepped up into the line. Plus the 2 guys who I've dealt with before usually offer to help me with large boxes when I'm obviously having a hard time. They have even offered to come out to my car to get boxes. The 2 stars are for them. Zero stars for the rude employee working today. read more

Returned 3 separate Amazon returns here the other day. I got a receipt...always get a receipt. The first two returns had rubber sandals in them and the return was processed and it showed on my Amazon account instantly. The third return had two pairs of $180 RayBan sunglasses in it. The return never showed on my Amazon account and I even called later in the day to ask why it wasn't showing up as shipped and the guy assured me it would and if it didn't just call Amazon because they were really good about instances like this. Well, a day later nothing showing that I dropped off. One could only assume that the employees stole the sunglasses and never shipped back. Will never use this location again. Thieves work here!! Rummage through the returns and take the expensive good things, knowing Amazon will refund. Luckily, I had a receipt for proof I dropped off and Amazon helped me out. One could only hope this location is investigated! read more

I had a great experience at The Ups Store on 41st. today. I had just left the local Fed Ex store because the guy at the counter made it so so so complicated to get me a price for mailing my package. I chuckled, told him it can't possibly be that complicated and went over to UPS. I walked in the store and the whole mood was different. The two guys working there were really friendly and greeted me right away. I asked the SAME EXACT question that I had asked at Fed Ex (I was secretly trying to see for myself if it REALLY IS that complicated) and I got an immediate answer - no smoke and mirrors, no twists and turns, no excuses. These guys were great. The guy that helped me was quick, knowledgeable and super friendly. I was in and out of there in MINUTES. Fed Ex could learn a thing or two from these guys. UPS keep up the good work - hiring guys like these! read more

I had a very important, time sensistive package that i needed to get to Costa Rica. I worked with a man named Gabe. We talked about it, and I paid for what we thought would be the correct service, DHL. My package was supposed to be picked up the next day and arrive in a week. I got a call From Gabe the next day. (I beleive he is the store manager) I did not pick up the phone and he left me a voicmail. He said that he had overlooked that DHL did not pick up on saturday and he appoligized for the inconvience, he also stated that he had taken the liberty of changing the shipping method to UPS overnight express, a service that was more expensive. (HE DID THIS AT NO COST TO ME.) and that my package sould arrive 3 days earlier then we had originaly been planning! Not ony did Gabe upgrade my service for free, he transcribe all the information to the new shipping label and got it sent without me ever haveing to come back into the store. The package arrived safely and sooner then expected!! Props to Gabe! 100% would use this store again! read more

Ok, so the post office in Santa Cruz, is OK it's actually pretty great for a "post office" 9I go to the one on Morrissey and the folks there are very nice - not downtown). But once I went to the UPS store on Soquel (right at the end of 41st ave)... I'm just inclined to go there instead! Andrea and Sager are just Super helpful, patient and efficient. they make doing this kind of office work a pleasure! And Jethro Handsome dog loves them too - sometimes he even gets a treat! Every time i drive by there Jethro gives me a little nudge asking me to turn into the driveway (I drive by there a lot!). So glad these guy opened up shop here! read more

The management at this store is exceptional. I had a bad experience... the store staff made a mistake and as result my shipment was delivered to the wrong place. Being a perishable shipment shipping to the desert, this was a big problem. I explained the error to the manager (Gabe) who looked into the matter and responded "I'm sorry... it was totally our fault." and then proceeded to try to correct the mistake as quickly as possible. In the end, the package was a lost cause. Gabe spoke with the owner of the store and promised to make good on their mistake. He then followed through on his promise. Mistakes happen a lot. Management accepting responsibility for those mistakes happens much less often. Management spending money making good on a mistake...VERY RARE. This is the kind of business I want to work with. read more
