I'm a professional photographer and I ordered samples so I could show clients of mine when they were going to order prints. It took 10 days to even start to fill the order, then another week or so for shipping. I can't have clients waiting like that when I can continue to order through Millers. Miller's fills the order the next day and fast ships it to me. Pathetic service from Bayphoto really disappointed. read more

The VERY WORST customer "service" i have ever experienced. I can deal with it being the holidays and something might be a few days late, but the lies i got from the CHAT person and then non-follow-up by a phone person who promised to call me back led me to go to their store in person. There i was reduced to tears by the owner/manager/tall grey guy named Mike who told me not to complain to him but offered no option for who i might speak to, said there weren't enough personnel to call customers when things were late, and told me that with 10,000 orders everything is screwed up and late during holidays and i should just know that, all replete with a hostile angry attitude. I cancelled the order and he offered to do a quick print of the item, but it did not make up for the stress caused by his attitude. How about some decent business practices, like limiting orders if you can't handle the volume? Or updating your website to provide step by step production info so people know what's happening? And if you are going to be so hostile, stay in your office and count all the money you raked in from taking too many orders, you jerk! read more

Stopped in to Bay Photo yesterday with a very rare photo and wasn't sure what they could do. Felt really good when Jacob, the customer service rep, helped me. He was Excellent, answered my questions even ones that didn't make sense. Very kind, made me feel special like he was really listening. Gave me excellent advice and reassured me everything would be done in-house. I left knowing my rare photo was in excellent hands. Surprisingly horrible. I've never had so many bad print experience, back to back, as this place. They really have no clue how to handle orders. Once you send the order, it's weeks of no communication, delays, excuses. Low quality results. WE ARE DONE USING BAY PHOTO! Buyer beware. read more

I went to Bay Photo Lab to get copies made of a landscape design drawing for a landscape design class . The clerk looked at my design and told me that they primarily make copies of beautiful landscape designs. So I left and found another much more professional service that was willing to make copies of my design and didn't comment on the qualify (even if it was considered "not beautiful'). AND the price was better! I will recommend to my colleagues to NOT bring their business to Bay Photo Lab. read more

i get Christmas ornaments made at the Park Ave/Soquel store every year and prints of all sizes (small to very large). They are SUPER HELPFUL there and go out of their way to help you if you have a problem. I was surprised they spent so much time with me on several occasions. Great shop. read more

I'm happy with price and product but they seem to have a problem meeting their own completion deadlines. If your project is time sensitive give them plenty of time or go elsewhere. Even if you pay for expedited shipping it may not arrive on time and there is no adjustment made. Take it or leave it read more

Just sat on hold for 10 minutes to ask about services, when the phone was picked up the clerk said, "Why are all these people calling?" and hung up. Will take my business elsewhere. Used them for $1,000s in business, no more. Too many better competitors. Called back to respond; another 10 minutes on hold, still no pick up. Stuck at caller number 2. So, after 20 minutes on hold, a clerk answered but could not tell me the price of their service. Waste of time. read more

You mean I can drop off film, pick out rad pictures frames, order a family calendar and have poster prints made - for Snapfish prices AND my nephews can play for hours in the corner (they did NOT want to leave the store they had such a good time). Received the prints but they were much, much darker then the originals. Left a message on the machine, will update again when they call me back. -SECOND UPDATE- Called them to see if it was something I did. turned out it was my fault but since it was my first order through them and I didn't know the process they are reshipping for free. While I no longer live in the area, I still vouch 100% for this place with their professionalism and interest in who I was as a photographer and my work. Not only did my prints consistently look great for my exhibits, they also offered samples of styles to improve the finished product - for free. They do a lot of work with professional photographers and just know their stuff cold. I miss working with them and highly recommend them to anyone looking to step outside the box for a better quality result. I was at the car show today, and on my way home stopped at bay photo on a whim. I was greeted by Dawnel, she was very friendly,full of sunshine, professional and quick. The prints were a little pricy (6 dollars for an 8x10 vs. 1.50 I pay at Costco) but she had them for me in ten minutes and even made them look great! COSTCO lost a customer. L read more

So, it was a dark and stormy wet day....and yet, when our posse walked into Bay Photo on Park Avenue, the warmth and graciousness of the crew changed all that. We sought passport photos. Christian seated me first, and cajoled my stern countenance into a gentler mien, and produced a photo of me that I won't hate for the next ten years! He repeated the process with the rest of our crew, speaking gently and professionally, while helping his co-workers and fielding phone calls from time to time. I recently did an online order for pick up. I used to just use Shutterfly, but I wanted better quality. I selected to allow Bay Photo adjust the color and I am thrilled with the results. Unlike when you order them online there is attention to detail. The quality of my prints completed here has exceeded my expectations. On top of that, I was able to send my husband in to pick them up and he remarked about how quick and easy it is... This is my new go-to for all my prints! read more

Just had some of the BEST customer service I've experienced in a very long time. As a new photographer I try to mitigate any 'costly' mistakes. Spending time learning is a part of the fun but making a wrong print is expensive. I recently decided to do my first metal prints as 'holiday gifts' for friends and family and had my gf place the order. When the prints arrived home sizing was completely off so I was out a good chunk of change...I called the next morning to see what I could do to fix the situation and was told to come in and that they would happily take care of me - 'it''s their job too' they even said. I received a tutorial on how to submit future prints, a complete and free (corrected) re-order, and all with a smile...oh and they even did next day turn-around to make sure I still had gifts. Basically, Rockstars. I will be back for many more prints, and ordered correctly. read more

I had no idea where else to turn. The family tree my grandmother had last amended in 1990, needed much more family added in. I forget your name, Sir-in-charge, but you knew if you couldn't help me, likely no one would. Not only did you take time to match up the font, but you took time and had patience with me too, double checking, triple checking dates. It did cost for five poster-size copies, but MORE than worth it because now grandmom's great-grandchildren all have copies now too! (It dates back to the 800's!) read more

Friendly and knowledgeable staff make printing here a good experience. Bay Photo is one of the best printers in the country. Regardless of substrate, the colors are spot on. That Bay Photo is located in my home town of Santa Cruz is a stroke of good luck, for me. If you are also local and it is convenient for you to pick up your prints at the Park Ave location (in Soquel), I would suggest it over the other locations. The staff are really nice. They always have great music in the background. They are super knowledgeable about photography and printing. Don't get me wrong, the other Bay Photo shops are fine, but the little Park Ave store goes above and beyond the call of duty. The shop is only a couple blocks from Highway 1. Private parking is great and immediate to the store. If you are not local, then I still think Bay Photo is your best choice. Their quality would be hard to beat and the turn around times are quick and consistent. BayROES, which is their the order placement system (a Java app), takes a little bit of getting used to. However, once you get it down, it is a good system and easy to get predictable results. Even though they are down the street from me, I still use BayROES to place all my orders. I then pick it up at the Park Ave store, just to hear some good music and visit with the staff. read more

I thought I'd try Bay Photo based on various positive reviews. One of my prints that was black and white was processed with slight browns and reds which I did not notice and was subsequently rejected in a juried show. Part my fault for not catching it, but terrible quality control for not catching it at the lab. The credit for the printing does not make up for the disappointment in what most people consider an outstanding lab. read more

I like this place, an old Santa Cruz institution. I only found out recently that they're doing business nationwide. Anyway, for a local, this location on Park Ave has the nicest staff. They're super smart, helpful, businesslike, and friendly. Bay Photo is offering some of the coolest methods to mount pictures now. They have bamboo mountings, metal mounted, metallic paper, little accordion booklets, and the prices are pretty fair. Also, they turn work around within hours. My African pictures came out so beautifully here. And the staff worked with me a lot. It really made a difference. read more
