I needed to send a fax and the first time it failed. They moved me to a different machine, it sat on processing for 45 minutes and when I asked another staff person for help they let me know that actually their fax hasn't been working in the office for two days. They should have let me know immediately when I asked to send a fax that their system was broken. What a waste of time. Just had an emergency fax and my fax machine was disabled so I went to Kinkos-Fedex on Clare's St. Cream as busy but Chandra, who was working towards the back and asked if she could help me. She dropped what she was doing, smiled and said she would help me. Chandra gave me excellent customer service! She was very understanding. What could've been a disaster if I tried to do it myself turned out to be wonderful! She is very professional, knew exactly what to do and walked me through instructions clearly even stayed to make sure that there was a confirmation page showing that they received it. We asked what the price would be in advance, over the phone, and she told us the "per foot" price - which didn't sound like it would be much. We asked again when we were there, before we sent them the files for them to forward to the big printer, and the woman kind of dodged the question, but it didn't sound like it would be much. We print out 4 pieces of paper, then go to pay, and it's $77. Turns out there's a $15 service fee as well (the service of them forwarding the file to the printer, in other words clicking a button), which the woman conveniently omitted when we specifically asked, twice, how much it would cost. We could barely afford it but my girlfriend felt like she didn't have a choice but to pay, since we'd already printed it out. The woman was robotic, she should not have a job in customer service. No empathy, no tact. We left the store and were shaken, it was like getting scammed by a reputable business. They straight up lied about the price. I don't carry many resentments, but this was egregious; and this place, and that woman, are absolutely terrible. read more

Melissa, the store manager, helped me, and while my photo did not work, she found another, and printed a beautiful card for me with a better image and it even included an envelope. I just needed to scan 2 pages & send to my email, they were legal sized and wouldn't fit in my scanner. I asked the person at the counter if that was possible, she said "sure we can scan legal sized documents". She told me to wait over by the computer and she would help me out in "a minute". Fifteen minutes later she comes back and has me scan my credit card into the card scanner attached to the computer. She then opens the scanner, surprise! it only fits regular paper. I was tired, so I said fine, I'll just send them fed ex. She said okay I'll help you with that. Then she turned around and walked out of the store. I gathered up my stuff and walked out. The person who "helped me" was in the parking lot talking to her boyfriend. I went to staples, much cheaper and I got what I wanted. Took 5 minutes, including the time I waited in line. I went here when I was moving because I needed a computer, scanner, email, and other things I'm used to taking for granted in my own home. I was accessing information from my Google drive, so, I had to sign in to Google. About 7 minutes later there were sign-in attempts on my account originating in Texas. Their location and hardware are not properly secured and your data is at risk if you use them. I understood the risk going in, so I used Google instead of a thumb drive, as two-factor authentication offers greater protection than potential hardware contamination. Even understanding the risks, you're always hopeful that they're on top of things and you really have nothing to worry about. (They're not; you do.) read more

The husband and I decided to do a geology map for my mother in laws Christmas gift that will surely bring her to her knees crying with tears of joy. I spent countless hours finding newspaper articles archived and printed them out at home. A 50 year old article looks like crap printed on ink jet so I announced we need to find a laser jet printer. We went over options of different places to print and I've always been loyal to the Clares street location of fed ex even though we live in Scotts valley and it will be a considerable drive. We get there an hour before closing and aren't greeted but we know what we are here to do so no problem. Two girls are working the counter. We are the only people in the store. The girls loudly and embarrassingly talk about their personal life at the counter. No problem I just need to download some PDFs. For 20 minutes I wait as my card is being charged by the minute until I'm finally told the files are too large. That's weird it's 1 sheet pdf pages but no issues I'll download each one on their slow internet raking up about two minutes each file for a single sheet. Off I go downloading each single file while in the absolute best valley girl voice imaginableI hear the gross details of their love and social life. Yikes! That's when it happens. I've been there for 50 minutes struggling to print 20 single page PDFs with their slow internet - nobody has asked me if I need help. Nobody has said hello. Nothing from them.. They take a break discussing josh and Jake and yell from the counter to the store "we close in 10 minutes!" Assuming at myself- the only person in the store- "Good one!!!" The brown haired girl high fives her coworker and giggles at the girl that she got over on the customer then continues to talk more gross details about her love life. Again- the hour I was there I wasnt spoken a word to except this singular sentence. I was charged $60 to print off 20 pages because the internet download them so slowly and I was treated like crap. Worst customer service. I called to ask if there was a package there and I was immediately placed on hold before I could even ask anything. NBD. After about 7 min of being on hold, she came on the line and asked what I needed. So, I asked if there was a package under my name waiting. She placed me on hold, again. Another 5+ min. Finally, she came back and said, "we don't have ANY packages and we don't know when the delivery is". It took you THAT long to see that you had ZERO packages???? Are you kidding me? Terrible customer service, in fact its painful. I went in to print with a USB and the employee who walked me over to get me started helped another customer who was there AFTER me instead. The machine wouldn't work correctly and the female employee kept blaming my file. I would follow her instructions she yelled to me across the store but when her instructions wouldn't work she would blame me or my file. As she tried to print from the computer & printer behind the counter she continued to announce it must be file. I explained to her it was a Word document using an Avery template. She didn't want to listen, she just wanted to complain about the file. I'm buying a printer tomorrow so I don't ever have to go there again. read more

I use fedex in a regular base. And I 99% use the office on Front St in downtown. This is not my first time at the Capitola office and every time I go the service is so bad, the works are so unhelpful that I tell my self that I will never go there again. Then years go by and I am in this side a town and try again .... What a disaster. Again the service is so poor, they are so disorganized, RUDE and not efficient at all. Mind you I'm a business person that have been shipping with fedex for over 15 years. I feel sorry for the one ship customer that I see there. I give then - 5 star. And Front St Santa Cruz location a + 10. They are efficient, know there product, and treat their customer well. Came to this location to drop off a shipment which was to be returned to the manufacturer since it was wrong product. I had the return label on the box, the package was needed to be dropped off. James Astt Manager suggested to buy extra packing for $5.95 to fill up the box. I told him if that is just putting extra paper inside I can go back and put additional packing so the product inside the box is not loose. So he goes ahead to tell me that the box was not in good shape so I may need to better box as well. This sounded very unprofessional since he told me earlier that it would need just extra packing. I asked for his other requirements so I can get the package in a way that satisfies his expectations. I explained to him this was how received the package from Fedex and I was simply returning in the same box and packing. Noticing his unprofessional and disgusting behavior I left the location. I drove to the FedEx main center across the freeway. They gladly accepted the box without any argument and hassle. I forgot to ask James if the packaging requirements were FedExs or his own requirements. Irrespective of his answer I am not coming to this location again. read more

Today, I received EXCEPTIONAL service from FedEx Associate, Garrett, at the Capitola office at 3555 Clares St. I went in to print out service maps of a property as well obtain a digital copy. From the moment I walked in, Garrett was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He listened to my needs. He helped me pick out the appropriate flash drive, then took care of me through my printing needs. I emphasize the word "care," as I was frazzled. Garrett's calm demeanor and knowledge of what I needed was extremely helpful. We were copying a 40-year-old survey map and the important part (for my situation) was in faded pencil. The first copy did not turn out, and I was dismayed-- Garrett to the rescue! He made the necessary adjustments until a perfect-- superior to the original-- copy was printed out. Garrett listened to my needs and did not give up until I was satisfied. In 2022, finding an employee like Garrett-- one who makes eye contact, listens carefully, and is dedicated to customer satisfaction, is no easy task. Being in the store for a bit, and overhearing other employees deal with customers, I am SO GRATEFUL I was lucky enough to have Garrett as the one helping me. He is a wonderful example of Excellent Customer Service and I hope he will will be recognized for his outstanding performance! I have to say I have never been treated more rudely in any place in this area after living here for 40 years. The gal that works there was unhelpful and appears to hate her job and customers that come in to bother her. I will not return here for any reason. She made what should have been a simple printing of a label into a guess who's in charge here ordeal. Never again, I will pay for shipping rather than get a return label or anything else printed here. There seems to be a broken vital machine everytime I go into this FedEx. I have had a great customer service from one gal there, but it was her first day working. Other than the one experience, the staff is always too rushed to give you a "Hi" or a time frame for simple questions I had. The cutting board (no longer available at FedEx) shredded my documents and the staff explained I shouldn't have used their faulty cut board. Yikes! My friend experienced the same distant rude and neglect from the staff which inspired me to finally say, I will never refer or visit this FedEx again. My office and I now use Staples even though they are slower to work, I feel taken care of and know they have the machines to make it happen. read more

Why I didn't go to USPS to begin with..... My fault. I had a small, 2.3 lb kids tent to send to my friend so she would not have to purchase a new one. The packaging alone was $16. Was then told the shipping would be $36 . Nevertheless, I spent the $20 to drop the prepaid box off & package the weightless tent. Went straight to USPS & shipped the large box for $23. If the lady at FedEx had been a bit nicer (at all) I may have swallowed the expensive shipping (& packaging) price. Sorry guys, I won't be back. read more

This is a very depressing example of a failed corporate culture. Extremely understaffed-I don't have a half-hour to waste waiting in line. One of the three copiers were broken so I challenged this no brain idiot worker and she told me it's our policy and we can't copy this copy for you.
