Today, I lost an hour and a half I will never get back.
First, let's start with the USPS branch on 600 Lincoln Avenue located in Pasadena opened at approximately 9:10 a.m. versus 9:00 a.m. Although one of the employees was very kind and apologized and I replied, "No worries" in which she smiled, it is still unacceptable to open late. Folks have jobs to go to (or return to), have business meetings, or other activities.
Today, I was very displeased with the dismissive treatment by one of the employees who I will leave nameless as I do not want "throw this person under the bus" (metaphorically-speaking). I went in (as I do once a month) to purchase a money order. I swiped my card, and the reader would not read my card. I asked could I swipe it again after two tries, and the clerk indicated I needed to call my bank to see what was going on and to come back once resolved. She was not putting me off... as it made sense to arrive to that conclusion as it was not going through. Although I knew the money was there, I concurred and left the front end.
I went to the lobby, called the bank, and just as I thought, my money was on the card. This proved to me that again, something was wrong with the particular card reader. Another employee was working with customers, and then came to me in line when it was my turn. I had told her the situation with the card reader and asked if she could take my card and use it at a kiosk to purchase the money order. She said the kiosk did not provide for that particular service. She then told me she would go to will call and ask the person working the desk to try to see if he could transact my money order request (which was kind, as she may too (I am speculating) have thought it could have been the reader. The gentleman working the will call was in the back, and so that never happened. She came back to me and told me he was in the back ( I know him; he is a great worker, so I am sure he was probably looking for packages for a customer, transacting business for a customer, etc.)
That said, the employee who was trying to work with me to get an alternate route to ensure my concern was handled, had to help other customers as I waited in line which is what she was supposed to do. NO problem. After about 15 minutes, I asked her a second time, if she could go back to the will call, and see if the will call clerk came back so I could try to purchase my money order. Not only did she NOT return to let me know whether or not he could, she went to the back and stayed! For approximately 20 minutes, I was in line, frustrated, not knowing how to proceed.
THANKFULLY, JUNIOR TO THE RESCUE! THANK YOU JESUS! I knew everything would be fine as he is the face and professional of this location. I went to his line, I told him what happened, he totally understood. Guess what - I was right! I ran my card on his card reader and VOILA!!!! The payment went through. I asked to speak with the person who was trying to help me to secure another clerk, but went MIA. She came out to speak with me. I told her my frustration with not following back up with me. She apologized.
I lost an hour and a half of my morning with plans down the drain, but I thank Jesus Christ for sending Junior!
