Dropped off my DHL package with no hassle. Friendly staff accepted and advised me when it would be picked up and on the truck.

I am an exhibiting professional artist, and my recent experience with Box & Ship in Pasadena was absolutely unacceptable. I contracted Box & Ship to handle the packing and return shipment of my original oil painting and custom frame from the 2025 California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition. Their responsibility was simple: pack my artwork properly, with all of my original packing material, that I clearly had instructions to save, so it would arrive safely. Instead, their negligence, of not saving my original packing material and their poor repackaging, caused damage to my frame, and their customer service afterward towards me was dismissive and unprofessional. Here are the facts: Improperly sealed box: When I received my painting via FedEx on September 10, 2025, one end of the box was barely taped shut and nearly open. Only two pieces of tape barely holding one end of the box closed. My original packing material was mostly missing inside: There was very little packing material holding the painting and frame in the box. The artwork could shift around freely during shipping. Missing original packing: When I shipped my painting to the exhibition in July, I personally packed it with bubble wrap and peanuts so it was tight and secure....it could not move at all. It arrived to the California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition undamaged and safe. However, after waiting 3-4 weeks to have my painting shipped back to me and Box & Ship finally got around to send it back, most of my original packing material was missing, leaving the piece vulnerable. Resulting damage: Because of their careless packing, the inner wood liner of my custom, hand-finished frame sustained a full break. I hand-finished this frame myself to match the painting, and repairing it will cost $200 in labor and materials. I have extensive photographic documentation showing the poor packing job and the resulting damage. When I contacted Box & Ship to request reimbursement, their response was dismissive. Instead of taking accountability, they told me: "The California Art Club insures the Gold Medal. Not Box & Ship. Please contact Eire and take it up with them." This reply is unacceptable. Not only does it deflect accountability for their poor packing practices, but it also demonstrates a complete disregard for the artists whose work they are entrusted to protect. Whether or not the California Art Club maintains insurance on artworks exhibited, the fact remains that Box & Ship themselves caused the damage through careless handling. As an artist, this experience has been infuriating. I will never trust Eric and Box & Ship again, nor use their poor shipping services. Their negligence not only damaged my frame, but their dismissive attitude shows they do not value their customers or the responsibility of safeguarding important artworks. I strongly urge the California Art Club to reconsider its relationship with Box & Ship. By continuing to use this company, they risk not only their reputation, but damaging more artists' works and undermining their commitment to protecting the contributions of their artist members, which make all their exhibitions possible. For fellow artists: think twice before entrusting your artwork to Box & Ship in Pasadena, California. Based on my bad experience, they are very slow to ship artwork, apparently have too much work for them to handle in a respectable time frame, careless in their packing and refuse to take responsibility when their negligence causes damage. read more

We have used box and ship for years with positive results. However, last Saturday I arrived at 9 AM exactly and until 9:20 and they still had not opened. This is the second time this has happened. their website indicates the they open at 9:00. Disappointing that this business cannot keep an opening schedule. read more

Greg and his team receive and deliver art for our biennial art benefit, and then pickup and ship back to the artist unsold art. They are so trustworthy and knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with expensive art. They show up on time -- and are great to work with. Thanks for the seamless and dedicated service! Close to my home. It's faster to drop off all the returns from online purchases. They service both FedEx and UPS so it's convenient. Never had a customer service problem. Although I hear there are problems. As for rates, I just accept what they quoted. Could be higher but I refer connivence. read more

A brief word concerning Box and Ship, and Greg and Eric who do an exemplary job of packing, shipping, and communicating with their clients. I recently purchased 5 pieces of Native American Pottery from the John Moran Auction House online for over $800; one was extremely rare and frighteningly fragile. I reached out to the 6 or so recommended shippers and received estimates (one was close to 8 times what Box and Ship billed me) that were all over the board. The work was done in a timely manner, they kept me in the loop throughout the process and sent a tracking number as soon as it was available. I do a fair amount of online auction buying and therefore have a good deal of experience in these matters, you cannot do better than to work with these people. read more

Eric and Box and Ship: always reliable, reasonable and easy to contact. I always use him for Pasadena shipments (vintage Navajo rugs)

I couldn't have asked for a better job! My auction item (a framed lithograph) arrived quickly and safely. Not only was the packing well done, there was no "extra" packaging so it was snug and not oversized. Greg communicated with me throughout the process. It wasn't cheap but less than UPS by $100 dollars. I never saw the item till it arrived and never went to the shipping store as I am out of town but will use and trust them in the future. Kudos to both Greg and Eric. They did an amazing job packing and shipping two large framed photographs from LA to Toronto. I can't say enough about how carefully the works were packed - and at a very reasonable price. Will definitely use again if the opportunity arises. read more

$19.49 to send a 10 oz Manila envelope FedEx Ground from Pasadena to Atwater Village (5 miles). That's almost 400% more than FedEx charges someone without the discounts a shipping store receives. I asked "what? It's like 3 miles away. How much is the markup?" And bro said "I don't know man just...." And trailed off. He probably hears replies like mine quite often. P.S. They sell bike boxes for $20, but in the same parking lot at performance bikes is half a dozen bike boxes inside waiting to be thrown out, or they're already sitting out... And they're filled with the foam etc to protect a bicycle. read more

Excellent!!! Shipping vintage pottery is not easy - I know - I used to work for a transportation company for 26 years - these guys have it DOWN! Since I've found them I won't hesitate to buy again from one of the Treasureseekers or other online auction houses nearby. I've never seen better packaging - although I still have little bits of styrofoam packing peanuts all over the floor - but I'll just blow em out the door with a leaf blower and they'll blend in with the snow. Maybe a little note saying Caution: packing peanuts below ? Or a note saying "HA! Gotcha!" My sweet poodle has been walking around with a piece or two here and there in his fur. I'll take the chance to find humor in anything these days - what's important is that these heavy pieces of sweet vintage pottery arrived in MINT condition - pricing very fair! Ship here with complete confidence. read more

Box & Ship Pasadena sent this 1882 framed original watercolor painting wedged between panels of Styrofoam without bubble wrap or other packing materials in a makeshift taped together mirror box. The painting wasn't even secured to the frame so it slid around against the broken glass and frame wood causing numerous scuffs and scratches. There was just a paper bag taped around the front of the frame as if that would help things. When I talked on the phone to a worker they thought the idea of using bubble wrap was ridiculous on a painting I'm sad to say. The person who sold me the painting took out a $1,000 in insurance with them but the store kept coming up with excuses and rules to make things as difficult as possible. First they said they needed me to mail them back the painting on my dime to begin to process an insurance claim. After that I provided numerous photos and several detailed repair estimates from art restorers by email. They first ignored me for over a week. When I wrote again asking if they received my email they replied that since the repair estimates were over 50% of the item's value the insurance company (they don't list who that is) can have "salvage rights" to take it away now. I've never heard of something like this ever before and I've used quite a lot of packaging stores. It really felt like they were trying to just deter me from continuing to talk to them. I wrote one more email providing my phone number asking them to call or email me which they then ignored again. What is the point of insurance if they can just now claim the damaged item? I had no desire to ever return this painting to them; only just fix what had been done to it. I offered to have an inspector come by as well as provided loads of adequate evidence of what happened. It's best to avoid these amateur packers who refuse to take any responsibility. Their insurance is essentially meaningless and they will ignore you if an issue arises. I was more than reasonable with them but they just wanted me to go away. read more

The only reason I go to this place to ship stuff is convenience. I'm too lazy to drive to the post office. Having said that, this is the only positive thing I can say about this place. Out of the three past times I've shipped stuff here, there's always been an error. The first time, they screwed up the actual address. What a mess that was trying to track down that package. The second time I shipped something I asked them to make sure the address was correct. It was but the name it was addressed to was mis-spelled. The third time I shipped something (about 15 min ago), I kindly asked them to double check the name and address- umm the name was misspelled again!! Terrible! read more

I recently used Box & Ship to assist with shipping valuable items back from the Estate of family member who recently passed away. The individual who came out to pack up the items was extremely professional and personable. I wanted to assist but he insisted that it was his job, so it was definitely appreciated. I worked with Eric to get the items shipped back and he was great. The items were boxed with such attention to detail and sent as Cargo via an airline. I would highly recommend Box & Ship. Thanks, Eric!!! read more

I was on what felt like a never-ending journey to find a box that would accommodate shipping a soundbar speaker. I went to all the big named shipping places, some of which quoted nearly FORTY dollars for the box alone!! Seriously?!? I just happened to be driving by Box & Ship and stopped by to check out their selection. I brought the bubble-wrapped soundbar into the store and a nice gentleman searched for a box for the oddly shaped package. He found an oversized box that worked with the length, and use a box cutter to trim down the height. All this for a grand total of $5!! Great customer service and a terrific bargain!! read more

They make major mistakes, which is ok. But they don't own up to their mistakes. And they don't do logical things to track customers when they have their package. I sent a large package that had a return shipping slip. I asked 3 times, is THIS the address that it will be returned to?? (pointing to my own address). They said YES, 3 times. They were actually annoyed I asked so many times. It got sent to the destination fine. But on the way back, I waited a month longer than needed. WHY? because it never came back. The place I sent it to and I were going in circles trying to find out what happened. Finally, I called Box and Ship and found out it was sent back to them, instead of me, in Pasadena. They said they didn't know why, but they were trying to figure out who's box this was. All BS. The reason WHY is because when they made a return shipping label, they accidentally put their own address as the return shipping!!!! 100% BOX AND SHIP'S FAULT. AND TO TOP IT OFF, WHY didn't they CALL ME??? My phone number was on the reciept! I know because I have a carbon copy of it. And when they called, they inputted my info into their computer and found my info--the package, where it was sent, where I lived, my phone number, etc.! They told me the package was sent here and they didn't know whose it was so it just sat there. They EASILY could have looked at the information, find the recipt and call me, because there would be no way I'd have known it was being shipped to them. BUT NO. THEY DON'T EVEN CALL ME. THEY WAIT TIL IT SITS THERE a MONTH, and wait for me to call them!!! Worst shipping company every, totally lazy, totally make major mistakes, and don't do anything to try to find the person whose packages accidentally get shipped to them. read more

I never fill these things out, and almost never have a positive experience when shipping a lot won at auction with an outside shipper. I had such a positive experience with Box & Ship and particularly with my interactions with Mr. Muramatsu that I had to leave this review. Both email connections and direct phone calls were straightforward and the cost was very reasonable given the item (the local UPS store quote was twice as high). Then the item arrives and the packing is as good as anyone else would ever do. Kudos, Daniel Morris read more

Paid for 3 day service to Pennsylvania and they shipped it home delivery. Package needed to be there by today and they keep pushing the delivery time back now due to get there tomorrow. They did refund me the difference between 3 day and home delivery but they made the error and since it said it should be delivered today yesterday when I checked it wasn't a huge deal.
