I came in fully prepared with my 16-year-old daughter to submit her new U.S. passport application (despite being born overseas, she has been issued multiple US passports since she was a baby), and we brought every required document and then some. We had her current, valid U.S. passport with us, which as clearly outlined on the U.S. passport service website (travel.state.gov), meets the requirement for "primary proof of citizenship." Despite this, the clerk refused to accept our application and incorrectly insisted that we needed re-prove my daughter's citizenship through her U.S.-citizen father--including providing HIS documents and ID, and other completely irrelevant items such as our marriage certificate to "prove we're her parents" (despite having her birth certificate with us and the fact we were not even married when our daughter was born 16 years ago, and we divorced 10 years ago) along with other unnecessary documents - such as my daughter's high school student ID?!, which doesn't have anything but her name on it and isn't an accepted as a form of ID by ANY U.S. government agency! Because of this: - My daughter missed two days of school - We had to make another appointment - We scrambled to gather documents that were never even required - I had to contact my ex-husband, who lives in another city, for paperwork and personal documents that were not needed All of this could have been avoided if the clerk knew how to do their job, or if she or her manager (who also had no idea what to do) had simply looked up the government requirements. For clarity and to reiterate: According to U.S. Department of State, a currently valid U.S. passport is considered PRIMARY evidence of citizenship. My daughter's citizenship was already established when she was issued her very first US passport as a baby. Her turning 16 and applying for an "adult" passport now does NOT mean we have to re-prove her citizenship from scratch with all her U.S.-born father's documents and information again. HER OWN ID- a current, valid U.S. child passport- is enough, and it clearly states this on the US government's passport website. Instead of focusing on the actual requirements for a 16-17 yr old applicant (ID, form + my signature of acknowledgement), the clerk fixated on completely irrelevant and incorrect criteria meant for first-time citizenship claims only. There was a clear bias toward me, the accompanying parent, for not being born in the U.S. myself (despite being a US permanent resident/greencard holder) and the fact that I was trying to obtain my child a U.S. passport. I was repeatedly told my presence and documentation were insufficient (untrue) due to that fact--even though, according to government guidelines, the accompanying parent does NOT need to be a U.S. citizen. Because to point out again, MY DAUGHTER IS A US CITIZEN AND HER CURRENT EXISTING AND MULTIPLE PAST/EXPIRED PASSPORTS PROVE THIS. If you're going to be a stickler about enforcing rules, at least know what they are. Weird to accept passport applications for a living and not know what the requirements for passport applications are. This was a frustrating, time-wasting, and discriminatory experience. I would strongly recommend going to a different facility where staff are properly trained and actually know how to do their job. I made an appointment at a different USPS location for the next day, where the staff actually know what they are doing. They asked for my daughter's ID (her current passport), the application form, I showed the clerk my ID to prove I was a parent, my daughter and I both signed the form, AND IT WAS DONE in under 5 minutes. Great post office location located conveniently off Huntington Dr. with opening hours earlier than other nearby locations. Drive-thru mail box drop off available, as well as a big parking lot where locating a parking space is never an issue. This place is great! read more

I did my shipping here for a second time to send package overseas, Clerk Adriana commented" You choose to come to do this on a busiest day of the year" [April 15]. Well, why does it matter? You supposed to do your job on this day just like any other day. She was very unprofessional and rude. She did not finish applying the label to the package and when I asked why she replued " we do this at the end of the day, we dont care how other post offices are doing" OH I Hope my package makes to the destination. Why post office employees think they ate doing us a favor by working there for us? Very bad service. read more

Along with the rest of the world, I'm eager to put COVID behind us and jet set around the world (while still maintaining a healthy PTO balance at work lol). But along with many others, I had a baby during the pandemic and the little one needs a passport. This post office location had the soonest appointment within 5 miles. I was easily able to use their website to schedule my appointment. Day of, I brought all the required documents but forgot to make my own photocopies. They do charge to make copies, but what other choice did I have? The copies set me back $2. Anne helped us, and she was knowledgeable and helpful. She made the whole process a cinch. During our appointment, another family came in for their baby's passport appointment and they were asked to wait a little bit outside in what I'd describe as an annex(?) It wasn't outside, but the workers explained that it was due to not take up too much space. The area is pretty small. But I was honestly in and out within 15 minutes. There is plenty of parking and lots of spaces right at the entrance for those with sleeping babies and need to take the car seat inside with them. IYKYK. read more

Went in to mail a package to mom, there was no envelopes for the one I wanted. And the post office was empty. There wasn't anyone in there. So am thinking good this is gonna be fast. So one of the girls said here we have them back here am like cool. Then she says ok go back to the corner and fill it out. So I go fill it out and bring it back. Still there's no one in there, still empty. She says you filled it out wrong and gives me a sticker to fill out again. She's tells me your not listening, am like WTH she didn't say where to fill it out the first time she gave it to me. Then she tells me again go back to the corner and try again. Am like fine I filled it out again go back and as she's weighting it, another women that works there is putting things away. She then tells her co worker "oh I'll do it" and tells me one second. She never came back! She took over what the other co worker was doing! So the other women came and said am sorry. Am like I need to go to work. I was in the damn post office for 15 mins! I come to this location for work reasons. I enjoy coming to this location the very few times that I have visited. It is a small post office but the service here is the best. You may be waiting but the service clerks work so quickly and efficiently. Every encounter with Ann and Adriana is very pleasant. They always help me with a smile on their faces even though there is a line of customers behind me. They are knowledgeable and personable. I will continue to come here. read more

UPDATED PO BOX HOURS - As of today 3/4/2021, boxes are open until 6PM on weekdays and until 3PM on Saturdays. All the websites with hours when you Google "Duarte USPS Hours" have incorrect information! Love this post office and hope they'll be able to extend their PO Box hours again soon! read more

I always dread going into a post office. Just the simple thought of going into a post office stresses me out! I've gone to the post office in my city (Monrovia), and that's basically a lost cause. I decided to give the Duarte one a try since I had a few things to buy and ship out. I walked into this post office around 10:45 AM on Tuesday morning, and it must've been my lucky day, because there was almost no line, and I was able to be seen right away! Say whaaaat? Contrary to other locations that I've gone to, the person that was at the counter ready to help me was super friendly and willing to help me with any questions that I had. I've been to a few other locations before where the staff was just downright mean, grouchy, and unwilling to help me. I had to buy stamps, and although I felt like I was taking too much of their time, he and his colleague opened up a box of stamps and showed me all of their collection. I ended up walking away with $40 of stamps. Did I need that many stamps? NO! But the mere fact that their customer service was basically unheard of in comparison to some of their locations, I just had to! Thank you, Duarte Post Office! The rumors are true! The staff here are friendly with excellent customer service. One thing I dread most is going to the post office and being in contact with people that hate their job. The workers are often irritable and grumpy, and as much as you want to be understanding, it kind of ruin your day when they give you an attitude. At my previous job I have to visit the post office often for errands and it's a nightmare every time. So when I have to do my personal errands, I decided to Yelp and to my surprise, found this little gem with great reviews. I didn't believe it. There is another post office near me but the reviews are terrible. I have to return something to the sender and the reviews of the other place mention that sometimes it get lost and never get sent out. I didn't want to take the risk so I drove a little further here instead. The staff here are super friendly and patient. Amazing customer service!! I came in on a Saturday thinking my passport appointment was today and didn't know they don't do passports on Saturday's but the two workers there were able to help me out and still helped with my passport. They were both so sweet and had me laughing the whole time! Literally both of them deserve a raise. I forgot their names but it was an older gentleman and an older lady. There is no better PO customer service than at this location. I am a frequent customer of the USPS and have been for many years. When I first moved to Duarte, and visited this location, I was taken aback by how much fun the employees were having and what a pleasure it was for them and the customers alike. You see, I had just moved from Pasadena and the PO there aren't like this one. I'm so glad I live right up close to this one now! This is a smaller PO, there is plenty of parking, two driveways for in OR out (both!), and it's on a fairly quiet street as opposed to being on a busy street. read more

They are very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I went for my child's passport service. It requires reservation online but when I got to the post office, I didn't have to wait too long to get serviced. Because we had a name change and we did not obtain our child's birth certificate within the year so there is actually few more documents we needed to provide. This is the best post office I've ever been to. The clerks are all friendly and super helpful. I went to buy stamps to mail my property tax. The clerk told me that today was the due date so she sent it directly so that it would be postmarked today and even told me to keep my receipt just in case.It was somewhat of a long line when I first got there but half the people knew the clerks and were able to drop things off so the line went really quickly. Let me just say, I don't normally leave reviews for a post office but my experience this past week at this particular post office is worth mentioning. My family and I came in here to get our passports taken care of. You have to first go online to make an appointment for first time passport applicants or minor renewal. Surprisingly we got there on time and we were taken care of by Adriana. I was already stressed out with filling up the applications and making sure we had all of the necessary paperwork and making sure we answered all of the questions correctly. Adriana was soooo patient, soooo helpful, soooo knowledgeable and sooo kind. It made our experience so wonderful. I had 3 applications and she made sure I did each one right. Exceptional customer service! I highly recommend that if you need to take care of passport issues, come here! Make sure you make an appointment first and come on time! read more

This post office is very convenient for me. It's right by Myrtle with usually a decent amount of street parking. Make sure not to come when kids get out of school because it's across the street from the middle school and can get packed with limited parking because a lot of the parents take over. The workers are friendly and I've never had a problem with any of them. One of them always jokes around, he's nice. I used to use stamps.com and the UPS machine at my old job, so I was somewhat familiar with the mailing process, but it still intimidates me. Thankfully any time I have a question the staff here is always helpful. I've been shipping items for my Etsy orders lately and just do the labels online and print them, so I've been avoiding the lines and just straight dropping off instead. read more

Im always having to call them to check on mail not delivered. Always get the excuse that theres gaps in the boxes where they sort the mail that can cause some thin envolopes to fall into out of sight. If thats a common problem, well put some tape or whatever to cover it! read more
