I had a very frustrating experience while processing my children's passport applications. The employee who handled our case was rude, dismissive, and failed to provide the correct required form (DS-5525). Instead, she simply told me to write a letter explaining my circumstances. A whole month later, the passport processing center contacted me and informed me that I actually needed to complete the DS-5525 form -- the same form the office should have provided from the beginning. Because of this mistake, the U.S. Passport Department had to email me the form directly, and now I have to fill it out, sign it, and mail it back myself, causing unnecessary delays and stress. This entire situation could have been avoided if the employee had properly informed me of the requirements in the first place. Very disappointing service and a huge waste of time. read more

Postal Services in Sierra Madre, Los Angeles, California... We had just finished breakfast nearby when I asked my friend, Hannah, if there was a post office nearby. She pointed and said that there was one right around the corner! Yay! Sierra Madre's post office is cozy, calm, and mellow. I felt like I was in a safe, small, quaint country town. I parked in the back of the building and walked in the building from the side door. Other people parked in the front, on the street, and walked in the front door. This usps needs to improve their service quality and reliability. I signed up for a PO Box and it is paid till the end of month. Earlier this month, I received a renewal notice which is due by month end. And soon after, they put a cardboard by my PO Box and block all my incoming mail, way before the payment renewal date. While I was still paying for the PO Box service, I was not able to receive any important mails because this location staff 'unintentionally' block my mails. I have been checking mail everyday and wonder why there is no mail being delivered. Finally, I realized that usps may have used these cheap tactic to block off my mails until I renewed my subscription. And I was right. When I talked to one of the nicer front desk guy, and paid for the renewal, he apologized and said he didn't know who has done such a 'mistake' to my P.O. Box. Now, I can only hope for all the blocked mails to circulate back. This is ridiculous! Taking subscribers money and do not provide the appropriate service. Wow. I just dealt with one of the worst customer service appointments of my life. I came in for a scheduled passport appointment and when I got to the window an elderly brunette woman asked me for my name and then said I wasn't on the list. I said I most definitely have an appointment and began to try and find my appointment details on my phone. She said "no you don't" in the most dismissive and callous way. She then scoffed at me and said and you also don't have your form filled out? Mind you I am there with a 6 week old baby and a toddler, I have my hands full but I also know I had an appointment. She then told me harshly I needed to leave which I did practically in tears. Of course when I got home I found my confirmed appointment in my emails. If you work a customer service job have a little sense of awareness and well customer service. I hope she has a better day because her attitude was not it. read more

I love using the Sierra Madre post office. Even when it's crowded, the line moves quickly.

We drove from Palmdale to this post office due to the ones closer to us not having passport appointments. Leslie is who helped us and she was amazing! We were getting a passport for my 10 month old and she interacted with him so well, when she didn't even have to! We had his picture taken too and she made sure to take a few so we would get a good one. We decided to also mail out my husbands passport for renewal and she helped us with the process as well. Our appointment was at 9:45 AM and we were out of there by 10:10! Her customer service was wonderful!! I would drive an hour again any day for customer service like this!! Most folks don't enjoy going to the Post Office. Instead, it is a necessary evil, a trip of sheer utility to mail something that won't fit in the mailbox, or that requires immediate attention. It seems most USPS employees know this, and wear it as a badge of honor. Yet Sierra Madre, one of the last "small towns" in great Los Angeles County, seems to still offer that 1950s flair. No one is wearing a Fedora or smoking a Pall Mall behind the counter, but the workers here are generally kind, attentive, smile appropriately, and don't seem to be despondent like other postal workers. The line is relatively short, and counter business is expedited at a rate that keeps the line moving. This post office is smaller than many, a reflection of tiny Sierra Madre-- a town that boasts no traffic signals. But they sell the same stamps, have a selection of Priority Mail shipping boxes, and a bank of PO boxes. Parking can usually be found on the street, or in the nearby public parking lot. I don't always like going to the Post Office... but when I do, I prefer Sierra Madre. read more

Friendly neighborhood post office! It's such a small town, you notice that the postal workers great regulars by name. For postal workers they always seem to be in a sunny mood, never do they greet customers with a stern face even during the busy holiday rush. One time this woman came in to pick up a package, but was confused to find it not at the post office. An employee remembered that the woman's daughter came in earlier to pick it up instead and cleared up the woman's confusion. This attention to detail and care for customers really stood out to me. I usually walk to this location to drop up mail and packages, but if you are driving there is a super convenient drive-through mail box across from the post office. This gem of a post office belongs right here in my adorable town of Sierra Madre. It doesn't get better than this. Short lines, friendly staff, and ample parking behind the establishment as well street parking. The staff is always helpful, assisting with providing you with the most economical way to ship a package whether it is across the sea or nationally. I have tried to ship multiple packages for Ebay, with me always getting stuck paying the extra shipping costs because I never calculate it correctly. The efficient staff members have guided me in how to be a more precise shipper when calculating costs, saving me quite a bit of money over time. I am partial to this post office because it is a part of my community. But I would say it is definitely worth the drive over if you need something shipped through the USPS. read more

The post office in Sierra Madre is small and understaffed. But they do have 24 hour access to PO Boxes, and a friendly albeit small staff. And it is small enough that some of the staff even knows some of the patron's first names. On the plus side... this is a full service post office, offering all mail services as ell as passports and more.It also has convenient street parking designated for it right in front. And they are real human beings here, so they take you even if you walk in right at 5. read more

The manager of this branch needs to GO !! They are short staff and still accepting passport processing, and only one person was handling the case !!! I made an appoint between 12:15-30, and I got there late at 12:20 cuz I am taking a newborn with me, and we were there until 1:30!! 1 hour !! What's point of making an appointment if u don't process or unable to process appointments !! I went to the post office to do my passport at 10:30 this morning. Because there was no appointment, then I lined up. Later, the front desk staff told me that you have an appointment? I said no, then she slept and said that I am embarrassed, you have no appointment, you have to wait until there is no guest to help you, and finally she will do other people mailing mail, queue up to let me do, now the post office I feel that I don't want to help us. Meh indeed. Been here 10 times 7 out of the 10 were sad visits. Some of the staff are very kind and the lines are short but I've had this one clerk (I don't recall her name but she looks to be over 40 with reddish hair) provide very poor customer service by not smiling, making eye contact, a attitude of pure unhappiness and sadness, it was hard to get my questions answered. I thinks it's just her personality or maybe she had bad gas or constipated or she's depressed. Whatever the reason 7 times I felt like she couldn't wait to get me away, even when I was the only one there. read more

Awesome service. I wish I had her name but I believe she was a manager. She had glasses. I was a first time passport obtainer lol. I had already had the runaround with Monrovia city call and city center and my dad suggested this post office. I was soo relieved. She walked me through the process, even took me again after it had gotten busy with regular patrons. I took my picture there and now am on my way to receiving my passport in less than 10 minutes. I go to this post office even though I live in Pasadena. It's because it has lots of street parking and it's not in a crummy part of town where I think someone is going to steal my packages if I have to set them down to lock the car or get out my wallet. The staff has always been friendly and helpful to me, but they do tend to be a little slow. This bizarre thing happens - when there is a long line, there are ALWAYS at least two people standing around doing nothing instead of helping. Is there some rule that a couple of people always have to be on break? If this were a regular business, they would be fired for sheer laziness. Went to couple of USPS in Monterey Park, Alhambra, and Temple city for the walk-in passport services ( no appointment option available at these 3 locations). When I got there, 2 of the locations were closed during office hours. One location posted a sign appointment only?. So frustrated. Decided to book an appointment at the Sierra Madre location for today at 11:45. The 2 lady sales associates there were very nice. Liz was the one helped us with the passports. Super nice. Within 10 minutes, we were done. I love this USPS location! The rest of the USPS in SGV suck. I been there. read more

If you need to renew your passport, this is the place to go. Make an appt online through USPS.com and it will take you less than 15 minutes if you have your forms filled out and pictures ready. I didn't get the nice woman's name but the one who processes the passports was AMAZING! I ran into a problem later and she went out of her way to help me when she really didn't have to so I am so grateful that she tried to help me as much as she could. CAUTION: BUY INSURANCE! This is the most unreliable post office I've dealt with. Buy insurance,or tracking at a minimum,if sending. Have sender insure/track if you are receiving. I had a PO Box here and they lost 1 package sent to me, and put other's mail in my box 2X. The clerk even admitted that sometimes they mix up mail. No apologies, except when I spoke with the supervisor, though he was adamant full refunds on boxes are against policy. I guess mishandling mail (mail tampering in anyone else's hands) is acceptable. read more
