What followed was an extremely frustrating and costly experience. First, the shipment sat in Navis's warehouse for months, and only after repeated complaints was it finally sent. Then, despite our having specifically agreed that Navis would deliver the shipment inside my daughter's apartment, the company refused to do so. We were told that the boxes would instead be left on the front sidewalk unless we paid an additional fee. I ultimately had to fork over another $600 to have the shipment brought inside the front door. Most seriously, the packing was shockingly inadequate. Crystal glasses were packed in thin envelopes with little or no protection for the stems, and plates were separated by minimal--or sometimes no--bubble wrap. Predictably, numerous plates were broken, and several glasses arrived split in half. We had paid extra for insurance, but when I filed a claim, Navis made the process unnecessarily difficult. It sent one low-ball settlement offer after another and eventually stopped responding to my emails altogether. It was only after I threatened to take legal action that Navis finally made a reasonable offer. In short, our experience with Navis involved months of delay, inadequate packing, additional charges, extensive damage, and a frustrating insurance-claims process. My strong advice: AVOID THIS COMPANY.

I felt very uncomfortable and thought about just putting the envelopes back and walking out. I dont know what the conversation was, and i did not want to know, which is why I found it so incredibly tacky and unprofessional for these people to be conducting conversations like that in a space that was not private. That younger girl deserved to be in a space out of publics ear where she could at least be given a small amount of respect.
