There was an agent at the kiosk for signing in. She asked about our business, asked for ID and gave us a number. I asked how long the wait might be. She thought about 30-40 minutes. Don't understand why they sent a letter that states "you can call or come into the office," then when I showed up, the guard tells me I shouldn't have walked in without an appointment. Then, after waiting for 45 minutes, the employee who calls my number tells me that she can make a future appointment for me. Of course, her attitude is caustic, unwelcoming and unpleasant. This is one of the worst locations with horrible employees that goes directly for the security guard G. Wright in the front and also the supervisor who is in charge of this location. Extremely negligent towards elderly patients and their needs. If you can avoid coming here, i would because regardless they are no help to anyone. He specifically asked for a translator and they told him they don't have one that speaks his language!?!? Or to call someone who's available for help him! They told my father that he cannot be on the phone in here and it was his turn and the very unprofessional and negligent guard G. Wright who clearly lacks common sense told me my father missed his turn in line and lost his appointment! After waiting that long, I stated you asked him to step outside because I'm his translator and when we asked for interpreter, they told me they didn't have anybody who spoke our language so please tell me how that is professional... Once I arrived at the front security guard G. Wright told me that they are closed. I said my dad was already here waiting and had an appointment. He said it doesn't matter. I asked to speak to a supervisor he said you can come back tomorrow. I explained to him that I drove over an hour for this appointment that nobody helped my dad with and told him that he missed his number because he stepped outside as they told him to because he doesn't understand English! I told him I can just hand off the application since I have a few minutes before the closing time at 4 PM and I wanted to speak to a manager or supervisor. He told me I can come back another day and do that and this is not the last of it, I will be contacting Social Security to complain about officer G. Wright. Avoid this location or ask to be helped elsewhere I can see now why this location had a constant issue with communication clearly it's to the lack of service even before being helped the problem is at the door! read more

Walked in with an appointment to have a few questions answered. The clerk was immediately rude and did not offer any help nor gave me a chance to ask questions. She kept showing me a list she has to take care of. That list had nothing to do with me nor my appointment!! This is a potetially very busy office but it is well organized. However, be aware that starting January 6, 2025 they will no longer accept walk-in clients without a prior appointment. You may have to plan your visit weeks ahead of time, although they told me that a Medicare enriollment (Part B) form that they helped me fill out could be dropped off after January 5 at the front kiosk without an appointment. read more

I came here yesterday, I tried calling a few days beforehand to make an appointment but they told me appointments were no longer needed to just come in. (I hadn't visited since the pandemic so I just wanted to be sure) with that being said I arrived 30 minutes before the office opened to get in line since I know how long wait times can be and I just wanted things to go smoothly . I arrive 8:30 before they open at 9 and am already the 4th person in line. While I'm in line a homeless man comes and aggressively verbally assaults me telling me a lot of racial and bad mouthed comments, for about 10 minutes I was so scared and in such a vulnerable position because when you come to these offices they make you bring all sorts of documents to verify your identity which obviously holding your social , bills, passports etc those documents while standing in line is a danger in itself the homeless man had spray and a pocket knife in his bag and I can see it. All I could do was stand there and smile and try to be as calm as possible. The other ladies in line just held to their belongings and moved away. I know this can happen anywhere but I just wish there was more security , people Come before they open and even after they opened security was inside only not in the parking area. I felt very unsafe here, and I truly hope I never need to come back . There are some characters that visit this place in the waiting room. I've been coming here a few times the last few weeks and it seems as though the line for social security assistance goes the fastest. They have 1 kiosks where you check-in for the service you need. The waiting room is large enough that even though if it's busy, you can find a seat. It's hit or miss with the representative you get assigned to. Some are really chill and other's have no personality. Regardless, they seem to get the work done without much hassle if you are prepared. read more

Anyway, I was there for a REPLACEMENT SS CARD. This office does not publish its phone number so you cannot call ahead to get an appointment. You enter the building after using their large (free) parking lot. There is a kiosk that you interface with and that gets you a coded waiting slip and from there you are called to one of five windows. The whole thing took 25 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised after dreading my arrival to the Social Security office. A line was formed extending all the way around the building at 845 AM, when the office doesn't even open until 9am. I was there with my 87 year old dad who had to file some paperwork after the passing of my mom. Not an easy day. Having an appointment really does make a difference. I had my dad wait on the small bench outside the doors so that he wouldn't have to stand in the line while I sadly took my place at the end. The minute the doors opened they shouted my dad's name and we were escorted into the back of the office for a one on one appointment. It was quick, the employees were courteous, and we were out of there at 0917. I was pleasantly surprised. My tip.... make an appointment. It matters. read more

I've never seen a governmental office work so effectively. I entered the building, inputed my information into the computer kiosk, received a number ticket and took a seat. I was called approximately 35 minutes later, supplied the clerk with proof of identification and the application form that I retrieved on line the night before and filled out prior to my arrival. I returned to my seat and was called back a few minutes later and received the identification I provided plus a receipt that indicated I applied for a duplicate social security card and information stating I should receive the card within 14 days. This is probably the best experience I've had at a government/state office. The other reviews mentioning the quick lines were correct (quick compared to other places like the DMV). There was an employee by the ticket machine who asked what I was there for and helped me obtain a number after selecting a few options in the machine. The wait was about 30 minutes for me and the employee was able to help me with my request in 5 minutes. I'm not sure how to make an appointment but the wait times for the universal Social Security phone number was easily 45+ minutes. You're better off just going in and waiting in line. read more

Went to get ss. Told them i was still nder my spouses health insurance , filled out the forms. Get a letter a month ago saying they will deduct fir health insurance. I call wait forever, some snotty little brat acts lime shes really doing me a favor speaking with me. She then says all i need to do is fill out the form it takes a week for her to send. Not to schedule an appointment to go in.i fill out the form, 2 weeks later they say you have to go into the office, form insufficient! Why a 3 star? I was completely dreading this office, second only to my dread for the DMV, after getting married and changing my name. I completed my application for a new card online, and arrived without an arrangement. A kiosk at the door indicated that I could fill out certain information before getting a number in line, and I had my social security number memorized as well as my completed, printed application form. Due to my passport already being on file at Social Security when I was naturalized, this process only required my marriage license. I was served in under 3 minutes and got out of there in just under 10 minutes. No fuss, no muss. This was at least an hour shorter than what I expected. Thanks, Pasadena office! Walked in, got greeted by the security guard, waited for a bout 15 minutes, got called in. When I told the Staff that I was at lunch break, she was very nice, very professional, very understanding. Well considering I came in at 11:45pm unannounced, took a number that was about 16 people ahead. I can't complain at the wait was certainly entertaining. Between a woman yelling and demanding to see someone because "how am I supposed to feed three kids, when you haven't sent my check" and a whacked out old dude mumbling to himself loudly, I wasn't sure whether to be scared or laugh. Arrived on a Thursday at 9:00am and there was already a line out the door. A lady was working the kiosk and upon entering she asked for what services I needed done, filled out some info at the kiosk and handed me a slip. I was hoping that I'd be lucky and be in and out in 20 minutes but I wasn't. However, for a government office, the service was surprisingly efficient. It's definitely not the most pleasant place to be, but they do their best not to keep you in there longer than you have to be. The room was full of people but I had to only wait about 35 minutes which honestly is not so bad, especially without an appointment. The gentleman that was helping me at the window was nice enough and had my paper work filed in a quick amount of time. It definitely helps if you look up what items you need to bring and your documents filled out and ready to go. It only took about 5 minutes at the window and I was well on my way. Free parking in the back which is great because Pasadena street parking can be a pain in the butt. read more
