If you need to visit this or any other branch of the Social Security office, please try to make an appointment. Upon entering this office, the very friendly security guard advised me that an appointment was required to enter the building and that no one would see me without one. The guard handed me a card with the number to call to make an appointment. I did not have an appointment, so I left and sat in my truck, trying to make one by phone. I dialed the number on the card the security guard gave me. I received a recorded message that they were busy and it would be many minutes before an agent could assist me. I waited, waited, and waited some more. When the waiting time hit thirty minutes. I was done, frustrated, and left, never having asked any questions about my issue. I'll try again sometime. In montebello , nice organized place. But here's the hideous part you have people waiting in a lobby area right next to the area where they call you. Before coming here to do a thing, I read yelp reviews for all the social security offices near me and I chose this one here because it had the highest ratings. (You should see some of the other ones) At 9.30am, even though the room was almost full of waiting people, I didn't wait long for my ticket number to be called out, the whole process was smooth and friendly. read more

I just called to ask a few questions, and the person on the phone answered with litterally no wait time, in less than 10 seconds. He was very helpful and nice. Answered all my questions. THey do not make appointments for ss card renewal. Just walk in and he said I will be out in 10 min (after the line). Suggested that 2-3pm is the best time to come, as it is less buzy. Said that morning are more buzy. They do work until 4pm on Wednesdays. I will post another review after actual visit, but so far I am very happy with their service )) read more

I am writing this review on my uncles behalf, I called the 800 number to try make an appointment but this location does not accept appointments and is a walk in only location. Not a big deal, I understand somethings require you to walk in. The lady on the phone was very helpful and suggested Tuesday and Thursday are the best days to be seen because there are less people. So my uncle shows up at 9 am to file his paper work for retirement/ benefits, wait in line, grab a number (200) and leave at 3:30 pm. I don't know about you but arrive at 9 and leave at 3:30. How terrible is that? 14 cubicles available and only 4 open to help people. Come on Social Security, get it together. read more

WoW oh WoW I didn't think I could leave a Government office with a smile on my face but I did = ) I walked in to get replacement Social Security card and there were 4 people ahead of me I thought I was going to be in there for hours but I only waited 74 minutes and when I walked up to the window the employee took my birth certificate and drivers license and then handed me a receipt I was shocked how easy that was! And best part of all was that I didn't have to pay a cent. The employee at the window was super friendly but the security guard in the lobby was a trip because every time people were becoming loud he would yell out loud for people to either be quiet or to go outside. read more

Awful, I was there at least two hours, the security officer was rude. I sat down and my husband checked us in, instead of going up to My husband the security guy, yelled at him several times, some idiot guy said "he's Hispanic what do you expect, " several people and the wanna be cop laughed . I think the comments were degrading to all Hispanics. The guard should have gone over to my husband and assisted him, not yelled at him from across. I was told this was the quickest office around with little to no wait time...well NOT today :( Wait time was well over 2 hours with the same DMV feel.. Take a ticket, sit next to strangers, wait for your number, etc. With the social security card replacement fee being FREE, shit who am I to complain?? I came to this location to get some Social Security stuff done. On a cold and VERY rainy Wednesday I sent my husband to this location at 11:30pm to get me a number. Then I drove from work to this SSA Location, i got there around 11:45pm. They called my number by 12:15 and I was out of there by 12:25. We first thought this was going to be a long and painful process, but it was fairly simple. I would give yourself an hour at the SSA. The person assisting was really nice and helpful. He was also very quick at getting everything into the computer system. Wednesdays they close at 12pm! SO you want to be in the BUILDING no later than 11:59! they wont let people back into the building if you step out!. They are very strict about closing time. As long as you're in the building before the door closes, they will assist you. Don't forget to check into the computer for a number read more

Too bad there isn't negative stars available not only have they sent me back and forth between here and dpss for a few days but they don't keep anything in your case record! It's unorganized and they never give you a copy of what you sign even if you ask for it, they never update your case in the system and over the phone service is worse I have been hung up in countless of times , these people just don't want to do their jobs, if you can do your tithings online please do so it's horrible here read more

The security guard talks down to all the people waiting. He talk to you like you are stupid and gets bothered if you ask him a question. Not a people's person. Very rude. An employee asked him if he could call a cab for an elder man and he said no because he didn't want to deal with the automated system and just put his head down and went back to his phone probably playing a game. read more

Disappointed. Worked with a well-spoken Hispanic worker there to change the direct deposit. I think he was too careless (and overconfident?) and forgot to update the routing number even though we gave him a computer print out with the info. Now changing it is tough because the account has been suspended and we are out of town for a while. Please be more careful and take a little more time with your humble trusting retired folks. read more

This place was great, I had no problem. I waited outside for about 20 minutes then I sat down inside for another 15-20 minutes. The security was a gentelman. He came outside to let everyone know how long the wait would be and even let the line know that they were able to make an appointment. The inside was clean and AC was on.
