I came to this location to get some Social Security stuff done…read more On a cold and VERY rainy Wednesday I sent my husband to this location at 11:30pm to get me a number. Then I drove from work to this SSA Location, i got there around 11:45pm. They called my number by 12:15 and I was out of there by 12:25. We first thought this was going to be a long and painful process, but it was fairly simple. I would give yourself an hour at the SSA. The person assisting was really nice and helpful. He was also very quick at getting everything into the computer system. Wednesdays they close at 12pm! SO you want to be in the BUILDING no later than 11:59! they wont let people back into the building if you step out!. They are very strict about closing time. As long as you're in the building before the door closes, they will assist you. Don't forget to check into the computer for a number

Upon entering this office, the very friendly security guard advised me that an appointment was required to enter the building and that no one would see me without one. The guard handed me a card with the number to call to make an appointment. I did not have an appointment, so I left and sat in my truck, trying to make one by phone. I dialed the number on the card the security guard gave me. I received a recorded message that they were busy and it would be many minutes before an agent could assist me. I waited, waited, and waited some more. When the waiting time hit thirty minutes. I was done, frustrated, and left, never having asked any questions about my issue. I'll try again sometime. For now, time to have lunch

Truly Above and Beyond We attended an autism awareness…read moreevent at Montebello Fire Station 55, and I can honestly say it was one of the best events we've ever been to. They went all out with decorations. It was clear they put real time, effort, and heart into making everything feel welcoming and special. It honestly stood out compared to other events we've attended. Clean, Organized and Welcoming Space The station itself was very clean and well kept. They opened up both their main entrance and their outdoor area (which felt like a spacious side/back lot), giving families plenty of room to move around comfortably. Everything felt organized, safe, and inviting. Firefighters Who Truly Care Every firefighter we interacted with was incredibly kind, patient, and genuine. They went above and beyond with my son. He tends to be repetitive, but not once did anyone seem bothered. In fact, they welcomed him with open arms (literally, he gave lots of hugs!) and treated him with so much warmth and respect. You could tell they truly cared, and that meant everything. My son felt so special, and he hasn't stopped talking about it since. Quiet Room One of the most thoughtful touches was the quiet room they set up inside (in what looked like their break room, kind of like a mini home theater). My son was one of the first to use it, and he loved it. It was calm, clean, and a perfect reset space. Later on, other kids started using it too, and it was amazing to see how helpful it was for everyone. Fun Activities for All Ages They didn't just host an event, they created an experience. The kids got to participate in a hands on activity/training that was adapted for different ages. My 2.5 year old nephew and my 11 year old son both enjoyed it, which says a lot. They also gave out snacks, treats, and prizes, which made it even more exciting for the kids. A Lasting Impression What really stood out to me is that this wasn't just a one time interaction. We had seen some of the firefighters 2 weeks before at another event, and one of them actually recognized my son. That kind of genuine connection is rare and so meaningful. Parking and Accessibility Parking was in the surrounding neighborhood, but it was surprisingly easy to find a spot even during the event. Overall Experience This event brought together families from all backgrounds in such a warm, positive, and lively environment. You can tell they didn't just "host an event"...they truly cared about making it inclusive, thoughtful, and memorable. We're already planning to come back and drop off some treats for them as a thank you. That's how much this meant to us.

I went for the Autism Awareness event and they were so kind to my nephew and it's really hard to find people that actually listen and care for kids who have autism. Everyone who wants to visit a fire station should come here! They were so kind I'm thinking of making cookies and maybe banana bread to take them for the appreciation I have!
