When I got off the phone in tears, I found the ID.gov did not have what she was asking. I have to call back tomorrow! Stupidity! I wish I could go back to work at the federal level I have worked. Wow! I can not believe how low the rating is and bad reviews, for a city that is all I've known…read moreall my life. I grew up here, my kids grew up here, seen lots of changes since 1975 (yup!). I can understand the complaint about the incompetence of city employees; I've had mine with the Police Department & also with Whittier High School & WHUSD (side note w/both school & school district, I'm talking a few certain employees, the rest of employees were fine, it takes a few bad apples, as they say), that is much needed area of improvement, but I don't take it out on the entire city. And the city is most certainly not desolate! Try going to San Bernardino and you will change your tune. Yes, there has been ongoing rise of crime, tagging/graffiti, lots of outsiders from all other cities moving here- both good & unfortunately bad (West & So. Whittier and unfortunately pockets of Uptown as well) moving into the area, apparently it's appealing to them as well. There are times I go to Uptown for dinner, drinks or to chill, it seems like you have to be there in the day time till early evening before the mob of socialites & attitudes come out at night and saturate it. But again, it's not that bad, just know when to go, know where to go and know when to leave, if your the younger generation, then I guess you guys know how to handle it, focus is elsewhere anyways right? But what does the city have to do with it? If we can all look up above it and take it for what it is and make the best out of it, then it's all good. I probably won't buy a home out here, unless I won the Lottery and was in a position to pick and choose (I choose Whittier Hills, Friendly Hills & the best of East Whittier only), but mostly likely looking to get as far away from the city and live on an open field of homes with a view of the mountains in the quiet sleepy town of Yucaipa, what some will call boring, I call it peaceful. But when I get homesick, I know I can come back to good old Whittier. The point is, if your new to the area, have an open mind and give Whittier a chance.

If your a foodie your gonna love this city because we have it all and who makes the best of a certain type of food is up for debate! The city is pretty safe compared to neighboring cities and yes Whittier has pockets were gangs and low life's thrive but Whittier PD is pretty aggressive keeping the city safe. As for the average citizen we have old folks from the old Nixon days and the new generation of people trying to live in a modest home and give their kids a good life! If I could suggest any change i'd say the city needs to do something about the homeless in uptown and the gang activity in the surrounding area! Also limit the number of apartment complexes and section 8 because we already have a large share of renters! This city has a lot to offer on the weekends if you check the city website. It's far from a boring sleepy town, It's a thriving town with wonderful people living in it!

2100 new laws get passed every year…read more Cities like Arcadia somehow believe we have to know them all and they are entirely immune to being logical and putting up signs. Case in point: I was helping a friend with her moving (a hellish experience to begin with) I have to pay a $65.00 "overnight parking" ticket. This, despite none of the neighbors parking their cars on the street getting ticketed, AND despite my friend who has lived there for years not knowing anything about any overnight parking regulations, AND despite she had roommates and NONE of them ever got ticketed. Adding inconvenience to injury, heightening my anger, and tainting what should have been an easy, restful, pet sit gig in Los Angeles, is the fact that on Saturday for 30 minutes (before I gave up) the Arcadia ticket pay-site froze "processing" my card information. I could not "refresh". I was warned, or it might charge me double. Which forced me to go through VM hell. I TRIED TO CALL THE NUMBER ON THE CITATION. JUST GOT VOICEMAIL. WORSE, I KEPT PUSHING THE BUTTON, IT TOLD ME TO PUSH FOR THE DEPARTMENT AND IT WOULDN'T TAKE IT. I HAD TO HANG UP AND CALL AGAIN. THIS TIME IT TOOK IT BUT INSTEAD OF GETTING SOMEONE I GOT MORE VM THAT TOLD ME IT WAS AFTER BUSINESS HOURS. IT IS NOON! MUST BE NICE TO HAVE SUCH A CUSHY JOB THAT YOU CAN BE CLOSED ON A SATURDAY WHILE THOUSANDS SWEAT OUT MENIAL JOBS 24-7, AUTHORITIES GET THE LUXURY TO CLOSE ON WEEKENDS. NOW I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL MONDAY AND THEY WILL SAY "OH, YOU ARE NOW LATE AND HAVE TO PAY A LATE PENALTY. SUCH A SCAM!!! AND THESE TICKET AGENCIES MIGHT EVEN BE A FRONT FOR THE MAFIA!!! (it's a thing, do the research) An hour wasted. Day has been ruined. I am warning all of my journalist, video production, acting and writing friends NEVER to do business with Arcadia. I give all of you the same warning. Do not shop there. Do not live there. Do not do business with them. They are actors of bad faith and every red flag imaginable is in plain view and proudly being flown. Today I got a call from City Hall FINALLY returning my call after the fact and the destruction of my Saturday. I knew the call would be completely unproductive. Instead of explaining why they give out overnight parking tickets in secluded cul de sacs that have zero warning signs. They explained it is a city ordinance and it is marked on a sign on the entrance and exits of the freeway. They expect you to know this and to seek out the sign in the jumble of signs in the 5 seconds you have entering or exiting a freeway. More to the point, the law obviously exists, as most things, because the wealthy are so worried about the homeless parking in their neighborhoods. If the city REALLY wanted people to know, they would issue warning tickets. The fact that they don't, means this is really a covert cash grab by the city as well as a homeless deterrent. Because logic only points in that direction. There is no other reason that this law exists except for fear and hatred of the homeless. Once again I urge you not to do any business with Arcadia.

Sorry guys can't give more then 1 star, I wish yelp had an option for O stars but they don't!…read moreI called this morning June 16th 2025 to get information to file a citation appeal for a parking violation. I was told I can submit everything by going online to the citation processing website. There is no way to submit the appeal into that website it won't allow to upload videos that are 8 Seconds nor it won't allow you to upload the photos because once you upload the photos it gives you a new option to submit the appeal and it won't take it, when you click on submit it just gives you all these red asteriks where you have entered information and even tells you where you are entering the country where you are filing the complaint that United States is wrong !! Phone number, email address, ZIP code number, etc., et. , name, really ??? Even the name says is incorrect. it just looks like a christmas letter rather then an appeal form. Our driveway is being worked on and that is the reason why I'm submitting an appeal we were told to not park our cars on our driveway for at least a week and a half, cement was poured on June 7th and is not completely dried yet, and they are also still not done as they are also fixing some water pipes.

Small Claims Advisers is located in Basement Rm 96 (right side of hall when exit elevator). Available 8am-4:30pm via phone (213) 974-9759, different locations, and at building across from this building (Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration Basement-96 Consumer Affairs). Small Claims Advisers: They mostly help with only filling out your small claims (you need to bring in the copies/they do not have prints), explain what the small claims can be used for, etc. No legal advice so they can not help you organize your evidence, or such. Bring in multiple copies in case you mess up. DO NOT RECOMMEND E-FILING!!! (unless your case does not include a business, entity, trust or such). Staff: Receptionist Diana is nice. For forms, any staff could help. But regarding more detail situations, I noticed the law students are more empathetic and maybe more educated on maybe other ways around things? Overall, they can't legally advise you on anything so they are limited. BUT still very resourceful! Wait Time: The wait could be quick or slow depending on how many people there. Privacy: None since its stalls to talk to everyone. OTHER: Assessor's Office is located in Kenneth Hahn building, on the 2nd floor, Rm225. Must have address for them to look up. You can take pictures of the screen (prints cost). Wifi: No reception. You must accept the building's wifi to get reception access. Cafeteria in Basement: Prices range from $4-$12. Most items are around $7-$9. When exit elevator, make a left then another left to find it almost down the hall. Its difficult to find because there are not signs in the middle of the hall to direct you which side of the hall....fail.
