Mailing purchases home from Alhambra, Los Angeles, California... I semi-packed my luggage to figure out how everything will fit. I'm thinking that I don't want to carry so much weight and deal with bulky items. Knowing that Peter Y. of Yelp Hawaii mails his Trader Joe's haul home to Honolulu, I came to the realization that I should do the same. I went to the nearest Post Office which happened to be in Alhambra. It's a cozy place with no parking lot. I parked at the office building next door. I was just going to run in and grab a box... Haha! Inside, through the lobby area, I found the display of Flat Rate boxes. Thank goodness they had a few Large sized boxes. I took one and left. Shut it down. What a joke and proof of the uselessness of Govt. On the same day I got a notice from UPS that a package I ordered would arrive 3 days EARLY, I went to the USPS. Long line. One clerk. No forms available, all slots empty. Waited in line 30 minutes, when her register froze. After 10 minutes trying to switch registers, I just left. There simply is no point. Close it down, save us the money. We'll use UPS instead. read more

This USPS location is super small. Easy to drive by and miss. You have to turn into a small street to get to the parking lot. There is street parking as well. Came at noon and it was not busy. I was in and out pretty quick. read more

The customer service here is so much better than the Monterey Park location. It's usually the same 2 employees every time I come in, and they're efficient and helpful. I can tell they try to help customers leave as quickly as possible by identifying that they're just dropping off a prepaid package and letting them know they can just leave it at the counter if no receipt is needed. read more

Arguably the worst post office in the United States. The rudeness of the female supervisor of this Post Office is unparalled. She has the attitude that every claim filed with this particular post office is fraudalent and treats every customer with disdain. She was never taught to treat the customer with courtesy and respect. Instead of greeting customers with a smile, she greets them with a frown as if shes thinking "What problem are you bringing to me?" The fact that she was promoted to supervisor just goes to show how screwed up the U.S. Postal Service is. Their ineptitude has no bounds. read more

Small post office for your essential postal needs. It's very small so the customer line can easily overflow outside due to social distancing requirements. Parking is on busy Valley-- so be careful opening your car door and exiting your car. Employees were courteous and efficient. read more

Small post office without all the long lines. Sending stuff international is getting more expensive even though it doesn't weigh much.

The person helping me was completely clueless, incompetent, careless, and with attitude. Reps name: Belian (middle-aged woman with glasses). She literally had no idea what she was doing. Ok that's a short version of my story. And now the long version of what happened. I always come to this location for international shipping and never have a problem (all this time I was assisted by Henry the supervisor - very friendly guy and very efficient). I found out that he was on vacation when I went there today. Ok here we go! Strike 1: -I asked her if the recipient would have to sign. She said "you need to pay extra and fill out a form." So I told her to double check as I never had to pay extra or fill out a form. She then asked her colleague and found out that signature would be included when sending Priority Int'l Express (if I didn't challenge her I would have paid extra $ for nothing!) Strike 2: -she filled out the USPS section of the customs form (FYI customs forms have 5 pages: the original plus 4 carbon copies) But instead of writing on the original form (page 1), she wrote on page 5 (customer copy) with page 1-4 left blank! I caught it and said "you're supposed to fill out the original form on page 1 so it will carbon copy to page 2-5). Duh! Strike 3: -I wanted to buy additional insurance, she said I couldn't because max was only $200. I explained that in the past I was always able to buy more insurance for the same destination country. She insisted only $200 insurance was allowed (which is included in Priority Express Int'l). I told her to double check and finally she was able to do it this time (she blamed her computer system for this error). Strike 4: -I paid and left the store, only to realize that she did not fill the USPS section properly. The insured amount field was completely blank! So I told her she forgot to complete that section. She said "You already wrote down the value of your item in the item description section and that's enough. We never fill out the insured amount section." I said "the item description/value section are for customs officer so they know the content, and it's completely different from the insured amount section. I did pay extra $ for the insurance, aren't you supposed to fill out that section?" (I explained that her colleague (Henry) and other associates always complete that section.) She replied "I'm not Henry, I never complete the insured amount section. That's how we were trained. If Henry always completes that section, then I'm telling you I am not Henry so I never do that. If you want me to fill it out, then I will do that. But normally I leave that section blank." She then asked "What else is missing from this form?" I was like "are you really asking me that question? Aren't you supposed to know which sections to be filled out by USPS???" I then asked her "what happens if the package gets lost and the customs form does not indicate that I have insurance just because you never fill out that section? Her answer: "why are you being paranoid and thinking it will get lost?" (OK at this point I was already tired arguing with her) so I didn't comment. She set aside my box but did not attach the forms. At this point I was really worried she would make more mistakes and lost the forms (and my box) so I asked "aren't you going to put the label on the box and seal it?" She pointed to the queue and said "I'll do it later, I have a long line of customers!" My 2-cents advice: Guys if you need help with International shipments, best ask for other associates for assistance. I wish this would never happen to anyone. read more

Everyone on Yelp knows that I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to the Post Office! Something about shipping and receiving just stirs the feelings of nostalgia, especially the smell inside of paper and packaging, I don't know, but I love it... The service here is EXCELLENT: the staff work quickly but efficiently and don't make you feel rushed, they always have a smile on their face, and make small talk with you while you're completing your transaction. Public service always gets a bad rap, but the people at the United States Post Office are always so pleasant. There is plenty of parking in front, on Valley, so you can lug huge packages in easily. I have to echo what another Yelper said about the lack of customer service. In fact, my experience today was unpleasant due to a lack on their part to treat me with common courtesy. I don't usually mail things out often. I seldom do. Perhaps those who frequently send packages and are in the know enjoy better treatment. However, I am ignorant of the procedures and this is what happened: I wanted to renew my travel documents, and at first the male clerk was friendly and patient. However, as I began to go through the payout process I was served by a snarky female clerk. When I asked if I needed a waterproof envelope, she started laughing and then out of lack of information (I'm new at this) I asked if the package she gave me was waterproof, she called out to her coworker and sarcastically remarked and laughed, "does this look waterproof to you?" To which he replied with a chuckle, "do you need a ziplock bag or something?" They just made me feel foolish and ignorant (which I am), and felt like I was condescended. This isn't professional behavior. These individuals should be held to a higher standard since they represent the U.S. Postal Service (perhaps that isn't saying much). But when you do this, you incite a person to download the Yelp app just to warn others about this incident, then clearly something's wrong here. I sincerely hope that their positive reviews are warranted, because frankly my experience quickly turned sour. read more

Although this is a tiny post office, the tellers are extremely nice. Also being in a heavily Chinese populated area, the tellers are also able to assist you in Mandarin and Cantonese as well. Only thing I'm not a fan of is this location doesn't have a vending machine to buy stamps. So sadly I had to see a teller for this. Parking: Street parking. Definitely a drawback for me. Therefore I don't foresee myself returning to this post office unless absolutely necessary. The hunt for a parking spot alone is enough to cause me to drive to another location. read more

Bought 20 postcard stamps and sent 20 wedding postcards through this location, all at the same time almost two months ago to three different states and no one received them and I didn't get any back. How do you explain that? Other than this location lost or misplaced them. Now I have to spend more money to reprint and send them because they can't do their job. I did call USPS directly and this location and no one can explain to me what the crap happen or bother to refund my money. Useless. Other than that, customer service was really great here. There was no one behind me and the guy helped me put postage on all the postcards. We were racing to see who could put them on the fastest but I won :-) read more

We literally may have to move in order to get decent mail service. Over the years mail carriers have damaged my graduation diploma, photos, and nearly every other package clearly labeled "DO NOT BEND" by stuffing it into a mail box instead of walking it up one flight of steps and leaving it at our front door. Most recently the carrier shoved a package in our mailbox and when we opened it, it contained a small bottle of essential oil that I ordered which was completely shattered. Oil was everywhere along with small pieces of glass. After many years of our mail being damaged, my husband finally decided to complain at the post office and spoke directly to the acting Post Master General of our delivery area. The PMG's brilliant decision was to order the carriers to have us pick up all of our packages at the post office, instead of simply telling them to walk our mail to the front door of our apartment unit -- about five yards from the building's mail box. So, this experience tells me that if you want *worse* service from an Alhambra mail carrier, complain to his boss about bad service. No wonder USPS is going broke and closing offices. With Fed Ex and UPS as alternatives, who needs the aggravation? I'll have to opt to pay more for shipping if I want to receive mail purchases intact... or, move. read more

Is it weird to love your post office? My family has been coming here way before I was born for a few very simple reasons: convenient location, friendly staff and service that's so fast, it takes about the same amount of time to park as it does to pick up an item mailed to your PO Box. I will mention that parking is an issue: stay too long in the drop zone and you'll get a ticket, side streets get filled very quick after 3PM and, par for the SGV course, no one can make a decent 3-point turn to get into their spot. But the workers inside are worth what minor hassle you'll face. They are funny, they are happy, they smile, they want to save you money, they are honest. I'm glad that I can be proud of my post office. read more

This is one of the better post offices to go to for counter service. Friendly, excellent customer service, and Henry is so helpful! They move the line fast at lunchtime and you can get in and out quick. I'm only giving it 4 stars because I wish it had an automatic mailing machine for after hours postage purchase. read more

It's a small post office in the neighborhood, and I always see the same three people working behind the counters. The employees are friendly and can speak chinese and english. I think one might even speak spanish. The line's never too long in there, and we seem to get in and out of it pretty quickly. Not the cleanest or well-maintained post office though. Parking's kind of horrible. It doesn't have its own parking lot. The post office is right next to a tall business center/building so you can park in the underground parking structure and walk from there. If you're lucky, you might be able to find parking on the street next to the post office. read more

I will never use the usps ever again! I send a package worth $500 and wrote "fragile" in every side of the box. 3 separate times I had to re-ship a new set because they look like they've been to he'll and back. Most of the customers in this post office are Chinese, so you hear all the postal workers speaking Mandarin/Cantonese almost all the time, which strikes me as a bit unusual. But they all also speak excellent English, and are always very polite and efficient. Very pleasant service. But a tiny lobby that gets very crowded if more than a half a dozen customers are in line. No private parking lot, only street parking. read more

THE BEST POST OFFICE EVERRRRR!!!!! I came in with my boyfriend at 4:55pm with about 25 large tubes to ship and they welcomed us with open arms! The packages were not even finished and they opened up THREE windows so that they could get us finished. They were AMAZINGGG!! Henry, Callie and Jin were their names I believe. I was having a bad day until I met them and ND they totally made my day!! So nice and funny. They didn't make me feel bad at all that I came in at the last minute.
