Went in to change my name after getting married. I have a SS card already with my old name, so it is included as a "correction", which means you just need to bring your drivers license and official marriage license (with embossed seal) to the SS office. All you do is park for free in the lot by the building, walk in, take a number at the kiosk, and sit (plenty of seating). I think it took about ten minutes to call my name. Easy-peasy. So impressed by this office, that I'm writing this review immediately after my visit! For being a part of a government institution, this office is stellar - clean, friendly, efficient. The workers had to deal with two impatient, rude women in a row but they handled them like a champ. There's a kiosk at the entrance with straight forward instructions available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Take a number and wait to be called. I didn't have an appointment and went in around 10. Waited thirty minutes tops! When I finally got to the window, the very polite lady (who had to deal with the crazy women right before me) treated me kindly and had me out the door in five minutes. i was expecting a horrendous line, and mean people. however, i called them first and asked when a not-so-busy time would be. the lady told me 2:30, half an hour before closing. so that's when my husband and i went. they have a parking lot just to the south of the building, not a problem finding a spot. reason for coming here was to change our last names as we just got married. as soon as we got there, we entered our info, got our numbers, and waited for no more than 15 min. the person who helped us was really friendly and easy-going. got our paperwork processed quickly and painlessly. thank u, pasadena SSA! :) read more

Writing a review as I just left the office 15 min ago. I went to the Pasadena location and arrives 5 minutes before they opened. There were about 10 people in line already. plenty of parking! So as they opened up at 9am they called names (I assume appointments) and then a lady at the kiosk checked us in (in line) one by one. I had sat down and was barely filling out the application when they called my name. I had printed and filled it out online but forgot it at home :/ lol so it literally took less than 5 minutes at the window and I just had to show my ID and Certificate of Marriage to change my name. They gave me a receipt/letter stating I should receive my new card within 2 weeks. Now I'm here at the dmv, I'm sure I won't have a quick trip lol but in the future I will refer people to the Pasadena Social Security office ! read more

I had the worst experience in Glendale social security office over my moms case because of her poor English language ,and instead of helping her with interpreter they trying to force her to talk and put wrong information because of poor communication and of course I got mad and argue over phone and I think that cause they refuse to listen to my mom . I had to get my son a social security card as I had a home birth so you have to go in. I showed up about 20 minutes before they opened and there was already a line formed outside. I was certain I would be there all morning but I was in and out 45 minutes total and didn't have an appointment. As a note before they let everyone in the people with appointments went first, so I guess it would have been faster to make an appt but 45 min was tolerable. read more

The wait on a Monday morning is ridiculous! About 2 hours later and still hadn't seen anyone. I don't understand how long you have to wait... This Federal building is horrible the employees are not polite they do not help you. They are disrespectful and the officer is completely nasty. If you come in and act disgruntled that might get you far. They stand around and as you ask questions they ignore you and turn around like they didn't hear you. If I could give negative stars, I would. As a caseworker I have frequented this office many times, and each time have encountered laziness, unprofessionalism, misinformation and discrimination towards disabled people. I have waited over an hour for a previously scheduled appointment, received paperwork with inaccurate reasons as to why clients were denied benefits, only to be told "oops, sorry, our mistake." I have shown up to appointments, expecting an ASL interpreter, and none was present although previously requested. This office should go through a serious training on cultural competency and professionalism. Social Security Pasadena Office--do you recognize that your indifference and superior attitude are altering peoples lives? Don't mess with money and mental health. Get it together. read more

I came Friday morning at 10am and finished by 11am without appointment. The people were nice, place and rest room are clean. Of course, there are still some homeless people, but not that much. I would always recommend this branch for those who need to go to a ssn office. Parking is a PLUS!!! I gotta admit, I kind of dreaded coming here at first as I usually don't have the best experiences coming to a SSA office (long hr waits, unhelpful customer service), but had to get a matter resolved ASAP so I had no choice. However, when I came here late last week, things were different. It was a Friday afternoon and the place was beautifully empty, and so I got called in a minute, the fastest I've had to wait in a SSA office ever! The best part, the lady who served me was very kind and helped me address a matter with the Social Security that I really had no fault in. She even went above and beyond and helped give me additional resources for a different matter. If I ever need support with any SS matters, then I'll be sure to come back to this office! read more

This is the best SSA office around 626 area. The staffs actually greeted and said "Have a good day!" to me. The workers are very polite and the wait wasn't bad. I had my paperwork done in less than 45 minutes (which took me half a day at other locations). Parking is good. I went to the Alhambra and Montebello offices before. They give us (the tax payers) attitude and don't care how long we have to wait. They really take their time to complain and brag about how many years they have been working there, super rude and slow service! Thank you Pasadena SSA! read more

Very impressed with the speed and performance of this SS office. I was in and out (without an appointment) in an unbelievable 11 minutes. The clerk was very efficient and provided service with a smile. Not what I expected from a government office, so I was pleasantly surprised. A. LIVING. HELL. If you don't have an appointment, you enter a few bits of information and then you receive a number. When your number is called, you walk up not expecting to be treated terribly. This place is proof hell exists. The workers here are horrible and extremely unhelpful. On two occasions coming here for a replacement SS card, the workers were very insensitive towards my situation, with even one employee telling me "I should've had this stuff at my age." Yeah, I'm just asking for replacement SS card for fun and personal torture. So rude. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. (if I had one) If this office weren't so convinient, I would've went to the Glendale office. DO NOT COME HERE! Under any circumstances! read more

The first trip I made back in 2007 for a family member to get started on social cecurity, it went very well. I had to return to reinstate that family member just a few days ago, all because some supervisor name SHAWN WAS A COMPLETE BUTT HOLE, as I conducted business over the phone, this supervisor made it very hard. I went into the office spoke with the representitive and she wasn't helpful. Going back the next day with my disabled family member this time getting a chance to speak with a much better rep MR. DAILY. No problems. MR. DAILY was so helpful. That I almost wanted to shed tears. So for every two unhelpful people, there is one that will help. THANK YOU MR. DAILY. read more

Arrived on Thursday at 9:05 and the line was out of the door,down the sidewalk.I was speaking to another lady in line and we were talking about not being able to make an appointment on line.So inefficient! The security guard was just inside the door directing you inside when the older gentleman was finished helping the person at the kiosk.When you get to the kiosk,he asks you what he can help you with(very courteous) looks up my information and hands me a slip and says have seat. I waited an hour,couldn't help overhearing several people's conversation.Do not expect privacy here.Finally my number is called,I go to window 2 where the rude lady working there says"what can I help you with?" in a tone as if she's saying"what do you want? BAD attitude.I simply needed to replace my social security card,I had my id out already,I knew my number she typed in my information and slung the receipt across the desk,"you'll get your card in 2 weeks" Geeze lady it's only 10:00! I walked out of the office at 10:10. I will guard my new social security card so I never need to go to that place again! Thankfully you can apply online! read more
