They've walked me through forms, caught my packaging slip-ups without making it weird, and still kept things moving. Mail is mail, but helpful staff turn errands into non-events. I came in fully prepared with my 16-year-old daughter to submit her new U.S. passport application…read more(despite being born overseas, she has been issued multiple US passports since she was a baby), and we brought every required document and then some. We had her current, valid U.S. passport with us, which as clearly outlined on the U.S. passport service website (travel.state.gov), meets the requirement for "primary proof of citizenship." Despite this, the clerk refused to accept our application and incorrectly insisted that we needed re-prove my daughter's citizenship through her U.S.-citizen father--including providing HIS documents and ID, and other completely irrelevant items such as our marriage certificate to "prove we're her parents" (despite having her birth certificate with us and the fact we were not even married when our daughter was born 16 years ago, and we divorced 10 years ago) along with other unnecessary documents - such as my daughter's high school student ID?!, which doesn't have anything but her name on it and isn't an accepted as a form of ID by ANY U.S. government agency! Because of this: - My daughter missed two days of school - We had to make another appointment - We scrambled to gather documents that were never even required - I had to contact my ex-husband, who lives in another city, for paperwork and personal documents that were not needed All of this could have been avoided if the clerk knew how to do their job, or if she or her manager (who also had no idea what to do) had simply looked up the government requirements. For clarity and to reiterate: According to U.S. Department of State, a currently valid U.S. passport is considered PRIMARY evidence of citizenship. My daughter's citizenship was already established when she was issued her very first US passport as a baby. Her turning 16 and applying for an "adult" passport now does NOT mean we have to re-prove her citizenship from scratch with all her U.S.-born father's documents and information again. HER OWN ID- a current, valid U.S. child passport- is enough, and it clearly states this on the US government's passport website. Instead of focusing on the actual requirements for a 16-17 yr old applicant (ID, form + my signature of acknowledgement), the clerk fixated on completely irrelevant and incorrect criteria meant for first-time citizenship claims only. There was a clear bias toward me, the accompanying parent, for not being born in the U.S. myself (despite being a US permanent resident/greencard holder) and the fact that I was trying to obtain my child a U.S. passport. I was repeatedly told my presence and documentation were insufficient (untrue) due to that fact--even though, according to government guidelines, the accompanying parent does NOT need to be a U.S. citizen. Because to point out again, MY DAUGHTER IS A US CITIZEN AND HER CURRENT EXISTING AND MULTIPLE PAST/EXPIRED PASSPORTS PROVE THIS. If you're going to be a stickler about enforcing rules, at least know what they are. Weird to accept passport applications for a living and not know what the requirements for passport applications are. This was a frustrating, time-wasting, and discriminatory experience. I would strongly recommend going to a different facility where staff are properly trained and actually know how to do their job. I made an appointment at a different USPS location for the next day, where the staff actually know what they are doing. They asked for my daughter's ID (her current passport), the application form, I showed the clerk my ID to prove I was a parent, my daughter and I both signed the form, AND IT WAS DONE in under 5 minutes. As it should've been at Duarte, without all the above nonsense and ineptitude!

(FAIL). Even though I hate going to Post Offices in person (why the reason I bought stamps ONLINE), I decided to quickly go while I was at work. I originally was going to one in Azusa, but realized there was one closer to me right off of Irwindale Ave. From the photos and other reviews, I realized this would be a tiny Post Office and looked on Google Maps to see where I could park. Other than the tiny parking lot, it looks like there is plenty of street parking, but just read the signs for the street sweeping days. LOCATION: The post office is located east of Irwindale Ave and on the north side of Calle del Norte. Irwindale Park is on the south side. I arrived just before 10:30AM and there was one spot open in the small parking lot (WOOHOO!). As soon as I walked in there was NOBODY there! Two ladies were eager to assist me and answered all my questions. I was literally out the door within 2 minutes. That was by far the greatest experience I've ever had at any USPS office. Note that they are open from 10AM to 4:00PM and they just close between 2:00-2:30PM for their lunch break. 116/100 Reviews for 2016

In 2006, I was fortunate to attend the dedication of the post office in honor of Captain Lillian L. Keil. She was a resident of the City and retired from the US Air Force as a Flight Nurse during World War II. She passed away in 2005, Congress passed a bill naming this post office in her memory. I vividly remember Congresswoman Hilda Solis initiating this request and Commander George Ogden from the West Covina Veterans Post speaking on Captain Keils' numerous awards and achievements. Salute to the military officials and troops who fight to keep our Country safe!! Note: The City has a second post office by City Hall, but it's a smaller satellite office. They do not have residential home delivery service. All mail at 5pm is taken to this location on Rimsdale Avenue. A large semi truck arrives at 6pm and takes ALL outgoing mail from the City to the hub in the City of Industry. That is the logistics of sending and receiving mail in this city. We are able to use the self-service machine to buy postal and mail small packages, letters and bills (*:*). Good and efficient service, you can depend on them to assist you every day. I recently visited my local United States Post Office near downtown Covina for the first time, and…read moreI was actually kind of excited about it. The building itself has a really charming, old-school feel to it. It's not modern or flashy, but in a good way. It genuinely feels like stepping into a little piece of the past, which I appreciated. They open at 8:30 a.m., and while there was a short wait and a line, that part was understandable given the holiday season and the fact that many transactions understandably take time. What really stood out was the young Latino gentleman with glasses working the counter. I didn't catch his name, but he was incredibly efficient, patient, and had a genuinely good attitude. As someone who doesn't regularly use the post office and needed to send certified mail, I definitely needed a bit of guidance, and he handled that smoothly. You could clearly tell the difference between customers who come in regularly and people like me who needed some direction, and he treated everyone with the same level of respect. He honestly deserves five stars on his own. That said, the overall experience lands at four stars for me. I was a bit surprised by the cost of certified mail, which came out to around $11, and I'm not sure if that's standard or holiday pricing. I also noticed he was on his phone calling the Covina main office, which made me wonder if he was trying to get backup. During the holiday rush, having only one worker feels like a lot to put on one person and can slow things down for customers. I'll absolutely be back since this is my local post office, and I'd happily update my review if staffing improves. Overall, it was a solid first experience, and that employee truly carried it with professionalism and a great attitude.
