Please support this USPS!!! This USPS is essential to Chinatown and the federal government recently tried to shut it down. They now offered the owner Peter Kwong $100 a year instead of their regular contract. This is likely the only CPU that accepted such a ridiculous offer but Peter wanted to keep it open for the community, especially the elders that need this service. Peter has been operating at a loss for the last 26 year but now he will really be bleeding red. The workers need their job and the community needs this USPS. I know there has been comments about their service but please give grace to the older worker and please support its cause. We are fighting for the community so hope you all can do the same but making this USPS your go to USPS. read more

It's a little hard to find this business because there's no visible sign from the street, or at least I've never seen one the two times I've been here. Make sure you don't park out front on Hill St during certain times of the afternoon or else your car will get towed! Love this hidden little post office AND they stay open much later than a lot of the other USPS locations in the area! The guy who runs it (I think) is super chill and accommodating. He's the one who warned me not to park on Hill St, and even though it was almost time for him to close, he waited for me to move my car so I wouldn't get a super expensive ticket or get towed. I used to live just down the street, and this was my go-to USPS -- super convenient and always a pleasant experience. The staff here are some of the friendliest I've met! They're patient, helpful, and take the time to explain things clearly if you have any questions. Parking is easy with both street options and a garage downstairs, and for locals, it's an easy walk. I used to come here all the time and always appreciated how efficient and welcoming the team was. Definitely one of the better post office locations I've been to! read more

Not recommended if you aren't a Mandarin or Cantonese speaker as it's more for the locals to help each other. The owner of the hotel has this to help the community as a promise to his father. Don't expect full USPS service. If you want that there are more than one one to two miles away. People who are complaining below need to know this is not a regular full service post office. There are people who don't live in the area complaining about parking or trying to find it and it's not for the regular public at large to go to! Someone was offended and low rated the place because the people there make the place smell like garlic?? Are you kidding me?? It is a place where seniors and those who cannot walk far away from the Chinatown village community can mail letters and do BASIC mailing services! Mostly opened by the owner of the hotel as part of as a way to give back to the community. The hotelier operates the CONTRACT Post Unit as a franchisee and does not receive enough from the USPS to cover wages and operating costs basically under water in keeping it in operation. Anyone needing to do full service can do any of the several downtown locations who don't speak Chinese and are set up to handle regular window and carrier services. Literally just a mile out of the neighborhood is one by union station. Old people can't do that 20 min hike and 20 mins back!! This location was about to close because of all the problems others have brought with their expectations of a real P.O. which it is not. It's only authorized to use it's logo and business standard, but solely operated and owned. It is a COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER for mail assistance. People can search online for more information about this. The bilingual service they offer is pretty useful especially for older people like my grandparents. My grandparents came here before when they had packages to send out and it gives me a peace of mind knowing they are being taken care of. read more

I've been coming to this UPS for a while now, and every visit has been super smooth. The staff here actually care -- they're fast, organized, and really helpful, even when the line gets long (which it does sometimes, because this place is busy!). I've dropped off returns, printed shipping labels, and even sent out some tricky international packages, and they've always walked me through the process. Bonus points for how patient they are when people come in with last-minute Amazon returns or confused about QR codes . The store itself is clean, well-stocked, and usually has parking nearby if you circle once or twice. If you're around Chinatown and need a reliable spot for shipping or printing, this is the one. The older asian lady working here is always very rude, constantly ignoring customers to rant and the worst thing about her is that she mutters complaints and terrible things in Chinese (mandarin), I've gone multiple times and she does it all the time as if it's a part of her job description to be rude and unhelpful. The other guy who's a middle aged Asian male is great though, short and simple and gets the job immediately and has some courtesy. read more

The staff here can provide language access and support that isn't always guaranteed at other USPS locations. They also operate two hours longer daily than a typical USPS branch. The oldish lady that works there is always working there. Anytime I come in to mail something, she's there. she likes to take her sweet time talking to people and have lengthy unnecessary conversations. She works in slow motion. It's quite frustrating. There were a few times I just left and came back another day because she takes forever. I give one star because she gives terrible service. Sometimes there is a guy that works there. It's a small post office, but they're pretty efficient. Came here on a Thursday morning and there were no lines. There's always a man and a woman here working and they're pretty attentive and courteous. I walk here so not sure about the parking situation, but it's located in the plaza next to the Best Western. I've visited this location about 4 times in the past year and never had any issues. Come here and have your things ready to process and scan. read more

Yes, this place is small. The parking is not easy. The service is friendly and what you'd expect from a neighborhood location. But- SUPER CONVENIENT since they are near me, and open til 6pm! It's located in the heart of Chinatown has very friendly staff for the most part (it's hard to tell whether convos are being held about you when everyone is conversing in Chinese but anyway) affordable packaging supplies and even have extended hours on the weekend until 5pm when most places close at 1pm. read more

This post office frustrates me to no end... yet I keep coming here because its location is the most convenient for me rather than driving miles elsewhere. As Angie G said, it's nearly impossible to find with absolutely no outside signage visible from the street. Driving down Hill St, look for the Best Western sign + then park either underground (entrance at the right side of the Hill St Cafe) or at the temporary parking alley (through the Chinese archway on the left). From there on foot, find your way to the Best Western lobby + the tiniest post office you've EVER seen in the universe is off to the right. Don't expect any sort of friendly customer service or the full-service amenities that come with a typical post office here. There's one woman behind the counter who barely speaks English, + there's always at least a couple other customers barking things in Chinese to her rather than waiting in any sort of semblance of a line. When I was most recently in here to mail out a book, I asked her what envelope-type of packaging I might be able to purchase to send my book in, + she pointed to a pitiful selection of manila envelopes hanging behind the counter. Yes, overpriced manila envelopes... without any sort of padding, thickness in the paper, or adhesive to keep to closed. Seriously? So after excessively taping my chosen manila envelope closed + lining all the edges so that it might as well have been waterproof, I handed the woman my package for media mail + she gave me my price instantly. Ummm... what? Isn't there a chart or some sort of calculation that should be input into the machine to figure out what the cost should be depending on weight, delivery distance + the type of contents? She didn't even ask if I wanted delivery confirmation or insurance on the package... not that there were any slips to fill out in sight for that anyways. Shrugging it off, I paid the few dollars + was on my way WITHOUT a receipt. Is that even legal? And then I think back to a couple months ago when I had to mail a few documents in a flat, large envelope for overnight delivery, + it cost me nearly $20. -__- """" Ehhhhhhhhhhhh.... I agree with everything else the other reviewers posted. However, it deserves 4 stars because its location and super late office hours on saturday (opens til 7PM!!) means it saved my hide for submitting a letter before the deadline. And that's saying a lot. If a post office opens when no others within a radius of 50 miles does, it deserves praise for doing so. My 2 peeves: 1. the worker didn't have his uniform and he sells non-government sanctioned services on the side (international calling cards and moneygram?) 2. He used a non-standard postmark date stamp that looks nothing like an official post office stamp. I had to call the rebate company to make sure they confirm my rebate. Good thing i took a picture of the post office along with my envelope. So yeah, the service could be improved, definitely. I didn't have any trouble with the employee, but it felt like a very different office. Almost like a post office from another country. read more

Oh Lawd! This place is basically a disaster for many reasons. First, it's practically impossible to find! I literally drove around the block 3 times before I figured out it's inside the business plaza of the freaking Best Western Dragon Gate Inn. So, yeah, you get to park underground to get to it if the time of day doesn't behoove you street-park. The address is not obvious and no where did anyone warn me of this fact on the world WILD web! :) Also, you get 15 minutes free but there's noooo guarantee you'll get out in time and avoid the hefty prices they charge for parking. (I do have to add that the parking attendant was really nice to me, and maybe because I spoke Spanish and was gracious, he didn't make me pay anything despite going over a bit!) Next, it did not appear to be a full service post office, but comes up as one online. Also the line was LONG and slow, even on an off day/time when you wouldn't expect much post office traffic. The staff seemed inefficient and there were language barriers up the wazoo, folks! Third, this one at least provided me entertainment but... the little office that I and my fellow line-mates stood within opened to the actual lobby of the Best Western. While we were waiting away in bored silence, all of the sudden this CRAZY argument breaks out between this tiny asian lady with super long hair and this stocky Filipino dude behind the counter of the hotel lobby. Once we heard the ruckus commence, we all turned around. I can't remember what exactly the fight was about but I do recall the tiny lady YELLING at the guy in rather unintelligible English and then adding a really angry "ESTUPIDO!" at the end. While she insulted him, she also THREW a corded phone at him from the other side of the desk and then stormed out in quite the huff. The guy yelled something back at her that I remembered thinking was not very professional as he deflected the phone which then fell down to the floor in front of the counter. I was like WOW. I thought it was funny for a second, but I was worried homegirl might return for some revenge. After some nervous laughter from us all, it returned to the status quo of slightly uncomfortable silence again. I was exceedingly happy when my turn came up soon thereafter and I was able to hightail it out of there. SOOO....the moral of my little story is.... Unless you're into frustration and reality TV without the cameras, save yourself the drama, y'all!! p.s. This is a true story with NO embellishments! Pinky-swear! :) read more

Please note, that if you happen to have somebody at the counter with limited English, you may have to gesture and use concise language. This is NOT a post office, no matter what they call themselves. This location is a postal contractor. I sent a priority envelope from this location on 2/16, they gave me a sticker with a tracking number, but no receipt. For 11 days when I looked up the tracking number it only said "label created". Finally on 2/27 it was scanned as arriving in Jacksonville, FL, with still no explanation of how it got there or where it's been for the last 11 days. When I returned to the location yesterday the employee denied any responsibility, and said the post office must not have scanned it when they picked it up. He insisted that this shop is not a post office, despite being listed as one on the USPS website, Yelp, Google Maps, and Apple Maps. He said they are only postal contractors. The USPS seems to have fixed their error very quickly after I called them today, this location is now listed as an "approved postal provider", but their name on the USPS website remains "CPU CHINA TOWN POST OFFICE".
