We made a reservation to checkout Undertow as part of our Supper Club for the month. We were dining at Buck and Rider, Undertow is right next door. The bar is a pirate ship theme and as you walk in you are seated in the belly of the ship. The decor here is so awesome. Amazing attention to detail everywhere you look. They have ocean sounds playing and if you are lucky enough you'll catch the tiki man and thunderstorm show! They have a wide selection of fun themed drinks, all around the $20 range and some shots. Reservations are limited to 90 min, which is plenty of time and allows turn over of tables seeing's how the bar itself is pretty small. Definitely go checkout Undertow! Would be a really fun date night spot!

Such a cool place to visit. Like an adult Disney experience. Gentleman next to me was upset they didn't have beer. Service could've been better. Bartender did not come around often, they were not that busy. Sat with an empty drink for quite awhile which was a shame due to the time limit.

Such a beautiful place to visit on our trip from LA! What a tiki wonderland filled with speakeasy surprises! In the Chinese speakeasy inspired bar we had wonderful drinks prepared by our bartender Kaitlin. I had the Tom Kah and boyfriend had the Emperors Tea. They were so delightful and smooth. The Tom kha was very zesty and lemony. I had fun enjoying the duck wall behind glass and saw for the first time the railway train car speakeasy attached to the outside bar near the entrance which I missed last time I visited. Last time I visited was a Saturday and it was so slammed wait time was over an hour so we didn't get to drink, this time was perfect, no wait on a Thursday night! Boyfriend and I stopped at the undertow tiki bar last and enjoyed the surreal view through the boat windows lining the walls by the tables and the wonderful service and conversation as I purchased two of the highball glasses from Flint. What a kind and exceptionally friendly person he is, and if I'd come sooner I would've loved to try a drink from him but next time! All staff was hospitable. Undertow is easily the most interesting bar I've been too in AZ so much to take in, so artistic, very unique, a get away for certain that I'd love to return to.

This was such a cool experience! I am definitely bringing more people here to check it out! It is super dark when you are in there and cold so bring a jacket. But both drinks we got were amazing and they have happy hour which is 20% off their drinks. I ordered the blue Hawaii and the drink my husband ordered I believe was called panthers tooth. The waitress was super sweet and even when they brought out our check it was an experience because it was steaming when you open the check book. Highly recommend!

One of the best bar spots I've been to in a long time. Undertow is like the adult version of the Pirates ride at Disneyland. The drinks are so yummy and the ambiance is 10/10. The bartending is also very interesting to watch! You must get a reservation ahead of time on a busy night, but this is well worth it.

One-way ticket in piña colada, stiff and delicious

We finally made it to Undertow after over a year of talking about it and it was worth every last gold coin. I started with a piña colada and a mai tai, both strong enough to send you slightly off course. Two drinks in and I was feelin' fantastic... like a sailor with nowhere to be and just enough rum to start speaking in riddles ‍ My partner kicked things off with a One Way Ticket, but had trouble finding her second drink. That's when the bartender, steady at the helm came through with a custom take on the Katoa Cove, made just for her. His recommendations were spot-on, and the conversation? Even better. As a former camp director (pirate week was always my favorite), I've got a soft spot for immersive places and Undertow nails it. From the decor to the lighting, the thunderous sounds every last From the glowing portholes to the cargo netting overhead with floating glass orbs, it really feels like you've stepped below deck... in the middle of Gilbert. The space is small, which I love and no rowdy crowds, just the kind of intimate spot where you can talk. The only things I'd tweak? The sound carries a bit in the space, maybe some sound dampening panels coulf help would make conversations easier. And I wouldn't mind a bit more pirate energy right when you walk in. Nothing too theatrical, just a simple "Welcome aboard maties!" Just a nod to the theme to set the mood before you even hit the bar. The immersion's already solid, a little extra would make it unforgettable. But truly? The drinks hit, the setting was unforgettable, and the hospitality was smooth sailing. We'll be back and next time, we're going full scorpion bowl.

Been here a few times now and always enjoy myself. Our bartender was super friendly and helpful and gave us both excellent recommendations for cocktails that we thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to my next visit.

What an awesome ambiance! You feel like you're truly in a tropical place far removed from Gilbert, AZ. The service is great, drinks are spot on! If you like rum, they have a lot of rum focused drinks here. Definitely a great spot in Gilbert if you want to have a cocktail with a friend and just enjoy the vibe.

This place was so much fun! We were a party of 5 and we were quickly seated at a booth. We didn't have a reservation but since it was a weeknight it was not busy so we walked right in. The hostess was very friendly as she wished my friend a happy birthday and even gave her a birthday Lei. We were then walked to the back, seated, and the bartender quickly came over and introduced himself. He then went over the drink menu with us. The inside was really cool and the theme was on point. Every so often there would be loud sound and lighting effects which was neat. We all ordered different drinks and they were all unique and different. We had such a fun time catching up and I cant wait to be back! This place is COOL.

An immersive pirate themed bar with delicious and innovative drinks. We have visited Undertow multiple times and although reservations are recommended, we have been lucky to walk in as a group some nights. Notably we had mentioned a birthday celebration for a reservation and received a signed card at the end of our visit. Ambiance was incredible. We were told that the designers of the bar also worked at Disney, hence the magical feel. The audio was reminiscent of being overseas and there would be occasional thunder storms that hit the bar. There were porthole tables for two, with beautiful waves splashing in the background. The booths were reserved for larger groups and we enjoyed how spacious the tables were. Service was always phenomenal. Since the menu keeps changing, we ask for recommendations and our servers kill it every time. The cocktails are always complex yet accurate to the flavors listed on the menu. Personally I found their pineapple and cream based drinks to be the richest in flavor. The alcohol content was strong and nothing ever tasted watered down. Some of the drinks we found to be memorable over the years include: *Royal Hawaiian *Starboard and Steady *Shipless Sailor *Rations & Grog *Those Baby Blues *Pumpkin Spice Pina Colada My favorite bar of all time in terms of atmosphere and taste. Nowhere truly replicates the incredible theming of Undertow and I'll stop by here every time I'm in Gilbert.

Such a fun bar and experience! If you've never come to UnderTow, you definitely need to add it to your list. A really fun change than your typical bar. Walk-in's are welcome, but I would recommend making a reservation. It's pretty hit or miss if you'll be able to get in without one. The inside is epic! You feel like you're on a ship out at sea. The atmosphere really sets the tone with the sound effects, rain, and the port holes changing scenes. It's so much fun! The menu has a great variety. Classics and their own creations. Each drink has a great description to it, too, so you know what you're ordering/tasting. Very helpful. They do have mocktails as well! It's definitely a little pricier than a regular bar, but the experience is worth it! Great spot for a fun date night or to bring the whole group.

Undertow is always such a fun time. Definitely make reservations for this place ahead of time. Their seasonal menus are also very fun during the holidays!

Wow. Absolutely out of the park fantastic... I came in on a single reservation for my last night in Arizona and this place blew my mind. Staff was extremely friendly and made absolutely amazing cocktails, was definitely hard to call it quits and walk away... the next time I'm in Arizona I will be right back to this place, killer ambiance and even a special immersive show..

Fruity drink I ordered that came with a back scratcher! It tasted amazing!

We received water after we ordered our own drinks. My friend and I got the same thing. It had like lychee and lemon in it while her bf had this pornstar drink. The only name that I recall from the cocktails side of the menu lol. After deciding what to get from the main course, we were ready to eat. We waited and waited and waited some more but no one came back to check up on us. There are some things I really love about The White Rabbit and some that I didn't. Ambiance (3/5): When I think of a speakeasy, I think intimate. The White Rabbit is not that. It's pretty large for a speakeasy with a large bar and a good number of tables/booths. They weren't at capacity while I was there, but there were a good number of people there. Which made it pretty loud. To the point where you have to yell at your bartender when ordering your drink so they can hear you. Perhaps a much different experience on a week day. Getting in the speakeasy was both a hit and a miss. If you're subscribed to their email list, as I am, you get a different password every month. I was excited about this. Upon approaching The White Rabbit, I saw a sign naming the establishment and pointing me in the right direction. This takes away from the spirit of speakeasies which are supposed to be truly hidden without any signage identifying the restaurant. You'll see a velvet rope blocking a stairwell where you tell one of the bouncers the password. I had a reservation. If you don't know the password, as another party there didn't, they ask you to access a QR code to find out or ask others who are waiting. I appreciated the dedication to the cause. Once you get in, you walk down the stairwell, and then enter a cool hallway decked out with Prohibition-style decor. That leads you into the main room. The main room is also Prohibition-style though a bit unremarkable. The bathrooms are clean and also feature some cool paintings (and they also hide that they are actual bathrooms). With that being said, when I liked the hallway and the bathrooms better than the bar itself, that's a bit of an issue. Seats at the bar are bar stools without back support. Never fun for my old man back. I did, on the other hand, appreciate that they have free WiFi. Service (3.5/5): The service was generally pretty good, though a bit slow. They start you off with some water without asking you which is always a nice touch. It was just one of those situations where you have to put some effort into getting a bartender's attention on several occasions. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so no food for me. I did check out the menu. They have a small selection of appetizers, flatbreads, and desserts. Drinks (3/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I'm looking for creativity and an interesting blend of ingredients and flavors. While The White Rabbit has a good number of cocktails, many of them didn't attract me. Part of it is a matter of personal preference. There were only two drinks out of about 20 that I was interested in. Overall, I wanted a little more, but with that being said, the drinks were reasonably priced for a speakeasy. Not a bad speakeasy by any means, I have super high standards when it comes to these watering holes. Just not in my top five when it comes to speakeasies in Phoenix and surrounding areas.

Our server was attentive as were all the staff that helped around the restaurant. We both ordered a cocktail, filets, and split the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. We ended the night with a butter cake, a gift from our server (thank you!!). The filet was cooked perfect, the sides were delicious, and how could you not love a butter cake? The cocktail wasn't too strong, and we were checked on an appropriate number of times. Because we got married on a Wednesday night, the restaurant was not busy! Loved the interior, it was the perfect mix of fun but elegant without being too fancy. We would highly recommend and look forward to another visit!

On a Saturday night after grabbing some ice cream at Topo, we stopped by Sotol Modern Cocktail…read moreKitchen for a nightcap. Located in downtown Gilbert, Sotol is a rooftop bar and restaurant. I love a good rooftop and the weather was perfect. While they don't have a parking lot, free parking is available on the street and in the various surface lots and garages in the area. Ambiance (4.5/5): It's tough to beat a rooftop. Here you'll have nice views of downtown Gilbert, including the historic Gilbert water tower (which lights up at night). It's not a huge restaurant/bar, probably 50 seats or so. A good number of tables and then 15 seats or so at the bar. We sat at the bar. There's a pretty nice mural on one end too. Service (4/5): A little slow to start out with and to close out, but overall, friendly. We found one of the last four remaining seats at the bar. If not for that, there would have been a wait. One drink and then we made our way. Overall, about average. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet for this visit but they do have a full menu. Drinks (4/5): Interesting craft cocktail list. The first one on the list is a Sotol cocktail. If you've never had Sotol, it's a Mexican spirit. Not tequila and not mezcal, but somewhat similar to mezcal and it does have a bit of a smoky flavor. The Sotol So Good has sotol, butterfly pea, coconut rum, pineapple, lime, and orgeat. It's purple so it makes an impression. It packs a punch too. If you're looking for a cool spot to grab some food and drinks in the heart of downtown Gilbert, when the weather is nice, Sotol is a great choice!

The atmosphere was modern and open, and the…read moreservice started off a bit off-putting, though it improved slightly as the visit went on. I've been wanting to check this place out for a while. Right from the start, the elevator was out of order, which wasn't ideal. When we got inside, the place was mostly empty -- only a couple of other guests -- yet we were told to sit anywhere except along a section of tables by the wall. I pointed out a table at the far end, well away from the entrance, but was directed instead to what felt like the least desirable table, with the reasoning being they might need the space for a large party. After a bit of back-and-forth, they eventually let us sit where we preferred, but it made for a poor first impression -- especially considering the restaurant never filled up. Tried a few cocktails -- they were well made and enjoyable, definitely the highlight of the visit. Overall, good drinks but the initial experience left a sour note -- may or may not return. Saluti.
