This place is pretty cool for a date night. Can't say we would go back, but it was neat for an experience. I don't like that there's an automatic health fund contribution for employees on the bill. I'd rather that be built into the price of the drinks. Although it's already expensive, it would only be like another $.75 per drink, but seeing it as a separate charge is off putting.

We made a reservation to checkout Undertow as part of our Supper Club for the month. We were dining at Buck and Rider, Undertow is right next door. The bar is a pirate ship theme and as you walk in you are seated in the belly of the ship. The decor here is so awesome. Amazing attention to detail everywhere you look. They have ocean sounds playing and if you are lucky enough you'll catch the tiki man and thunderstorm show! They have a wide selection of fun themed drinks, all around the $20 range and some shots. Reservations are limited to 90 min, which is plenty of time and allows turn over of tables seeing's how the bar itself is pretty small. Definitely go checkout Undertow! Would be a really fun date night spot!

Such a beautiful place to visit on our trip from LA! What a tiki wonderland filled with speakeasy surprises! In the Chinese speakeasy inspired bar we had wonderful drinks prepared by our bartender Kaitlin. I had the Tom Kah and boyfriend had the Emperors Tea. They were so delightful and smooth. The Tom kha was very zesty and lemony. I had fun enjoying the duck wall behind glass and saw for the first time the railway train car speakeasy attached to the outside bar near the entrance which I missed last time I visited. Last time I visited was a Saturday and it was so slammed wait time was over an hour so we didn't get to drink, this time was perfect, no wait on a Thursday night! Boyfriend and I stopped at the undertow tiki bar last and enjoyed the surreal view through the boat windows lining the walls by the tables and the wonderful service and conversation as I purchased two of the highball glasses from Flint. What a kind and exceptionally friendly person he is, and if I'd come sooner I would've loved to try a drink from him but next time! All staff was hospitable. Undertow is easily the most interesting bar I've been too in AZ so much to take in, so artistic, very unique, a get away for certain that I'd love to return to.

This was such a cool experience! I am definitely bringing more people here to check it out! It is super dark when you are in there and cold so bring a jacket. But both drinks we got were amazing and they have happy hour which is 20% off their drinks. I ordered the blue Hawaii and the drink my husband ordered I believe was called panthers tooth. The waitress was super sweet and even when they brought out our check it was an experience because it was steaming when you open the check book. Highly recommend!

The ambiance in Undertow is cool. It really does feel like you're on a ship. Drinks are good(and strong). I am NOT happy that they include a 4% 'employee benefit' charge to your tab. I don't know what that's for and it makes me want to not go back. We should not be paying for any employee benefit of any kind.

We've been trying to get into Undertow for a year now and I've never quite been able to get in until last night. We were waiting for dinner at Buck and Rider and went next-door to see if we could get a drink while waiting. The host greeted us nicely and said that as long as we could be gone within 45 minutes that they would love to welcome us in since they had other reservations, but that worked out perfect because like I said we were waiting for our table next-door anyway. It is small but decorated beautifully thankfully there are no steps because it is dark and you kind of feel a little lost as you're walking through but the ambience is very cool. It feels like just tropical and lush all around you. We were seated at a two top along the wall, which seemed like a small space however, it had a really cool cut out window with a moving landscape of water and an island that through the course of the time as we were sitting there, changed to a storm and then cleared it up again it was just really beautiful visually and didn't feel so closed in. The menu was a large variety of cocktails obviously you need to like rum and bourbon and all of the things that pirates and island feels give. Our server made some suggestions. We ordered two different drink drinks. The first was the macadamia nut piña colada I think we are expecting a little more coconut flavor to this drink however, it was very delicious. Definitely strong. The other was actually our server suggestion that had peaked my interest because it had guava in it and that was called off the grid. It was delicious. It was perfectly balanced with sweet and sour lemon, pineapple guava with bourbon and other flavors. On our way out, I did hit the restroom. They have two neutral bathrooms. It was large. It was very clean, decorated beautifully like the rest of the restaurant. All in all a great way to start the night.

One-way ticket in piña colada, stiff and delicious

We finally made it to Undertow after over a year of talking about it and it was worth every last gold coin. I started with a piña colada and a mai tai, both strong enough to send you slightly off course. Two drinks in and I was feelin' fantastic... like a sailor with nowhere to be and just enough rum to start speaking in riddles ‍ My partner kicked things off with a One Way Ticket, but had trouble finding her second drink. That's when the bartender, steady at the helm came through with a custom take on the Katoa Cove, made just for her. His recommendations were spot-on, and the conversation? Even better. As a former camp director (pirate week was always my favorite), I've got a soft spot for immersive places and Undertow nails it. From the decor to the lighting, the thunderous sounds every last From the glowing portholes to the cargo netting overhead with floating glass orbs, it really feels like you've stepped below deck... in the middle of Gilbert. The space is small, which I love and no rowdy crowds, just the kind of intimate spot where you can talk. The only things I'd tweak? The sound carries a bit in the space, maybe some sound dampening panels coulf help would make conversations easier. And I wouldn't mind a bit more pirate energy right when you walk in. Nothing too theatrical, just a simple "Welcome aboard maties!" Just a nod to the theme to set the mood before you even hit the bar. The immersion's already solid, a little extra would make it unforgettable. But truly? The drinks hit, the setting was unforgettable, and the hospitality was smooth sailing. We'll be back and next time, we're going full scorpion bowl.

The ambiance was pretty cool, our service could have been better, and the drinks were incredibly strong...if that's your thing. I've heard about it since moving to AZ and glad we got to experience it once!

This place was so much fun! We were a party of 5 and we were quickly seated at a booth. We didn't have a reservation but since it was a weeknight it was not busy so we walked right in. The hostess was very friendly as she wished my friend a happy birthday and even gave her a birthday Lei. We were then walked to the back, seated, and the bartender quickly came over and introduced himself. He then went over the drink menu with us. The inside was really cool and the theme was on point. Every so often there would be loud sound and lighting effects which was neat. We all ordered different drinks and they were all unique and different. We had such a fun time catching up and I cant wait to be back! This place is COOL.

One of the best bar spots I've been to in a long time. Undertow is like the adult version of the Pirates ride at Disneyland. The drinks are so yummy and the ambiance is 10/10. The bartending is also very interesting to watch! You must get a reservation ahead of time on a busy night, but this is well worth it.

    Jamie B.

Been here a few times now and always enjoy myself. Our bartender was super friendly and helpful and gave us both excellent recommendations for cocktails that we thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to my next visit.

What an awesome ambiance! You feel like you're truly in a tropical place far removed from Gilbert, AZ. The service is great, drinks are spot on! If you like rum, they have a lot of rum focused drinks here. Definitely a great spot in Gilbert if you want to have a cocktail with a friend and just enjoy the vibe.

An immersive pirate themed bar with delicious and innovative drinks. We have visited Undertow multiple times and although reservations are recommended, we have been lucky to walk in as a group some nights. Notably we had mentioned a birthday celebration for a reservation and received a signed card at the end of our visit. Ambiance was incredible. We were told that the designers of the bar also worked at Disney, hence the magical feel. The audio was reminiscent of being overseas and there would be occasional thunder storms that hit the bar. There were porthole tables for two, with beautiful waves splashing in the background. The booths were reserved for larger groups and we enjoyed how spacious the tables were. Service was always phenomenal. Since the menu keeps changing, we ask for recommendations and our servers kill it every time. The cocktails are always complex yet accurate to the flavors listed on the menu. Personally I found their pineapple and cream based drinks to be the richest in flavor. The alcohol content was strong and nothing ever tasted watered down. Some of the drinks we found to be memorable over the years include: *Royal Hawaiian *Starboard and Steady *Shipless Sailor *Rations & Grog *Those Baby Blues *Pumpkin Spice Pina Colada My favorite bar of all time in terms of atmosphere and taste. Nowhere truly replicates the incredible theming of Undertow and I'll stop by here every time I'm in Gilbert.

What an unexpectedly fun night!…read more I honestly had no idea what I was walking into when a friend told me I had to check out Bikini Lounge because they know I'm drawn to all things eclectic. They were absolutely right. From the moment the friendly bouncer smiled and said, "Step right on in," I was hooked. Yoooow!! The first DJ was incredible. He was spinning all kinds of trip-hop, indie, electronic, and remix-style tracks that had everybody partyin'. It wasn't your typical dance music, but every song seemed to connect with somebody in the room. The crowd was incredibly diverse, and it was so much fun watching people of every age and style dancing and nobody cared. The second DJ, a younger woman, shifted the vibe a bit and leaned more toward a younger crowd. It wasn't quite my style, so I took that opportunity to grab a seat at the bar and do what I apparently do best... chat with complete strangers. I'm a talker, and thankfully they seemed just as happy to strike up a conversation. This isn't some fancy cocktail lounge, and that's exactly the point. It's authentic. There were people dancing at the bar, grooving in their booths, bouncing in their seats, and filling the dance floor with great energy. I came by myself, and within minutes a cool group of strangers invited me to squeeze into their booth like we'd all come together. That's the kind of place this is. At one point they even offered me a glass of beer from their pitcher. I politely declined (look at me making responsible life choices... sometimes), but then I realized almost everyone had pitchers! So I sauntered over to the bar. I did have to wait a bit; apparently chivalry doesn't extend to letting a woman cut the line, but once I reached the bartender, the service was fast and friendly. Every trip back to the bar was the same. No complaints there. As the night went on, the energy just kept building. Before I knew it, I was on the dance floor sweating, smiling, and dancing with complete strangers. After a while, I had to retreat to the patio just to catch my breath before heading back in for more. My ankles are still sore... and the glutes? Fuhgetabouttit! The best part of the night wasn't the music or even the drinks. It was the people. Every generation was represented. Every fashion style imaginable. Every personality. And somehow it all worked. There was this genuine sense of joy and community that you just don't find everywhere. If you're looking for polished and upscale, this probably isn't your spot. But if you want great music, a welcoming crowd, zero pretension, and one of those nights where you leave happier than you arrived... give Bikini Lounge a shot. I went in not knowing what to expect. I left wondering why I'd waited so long to go.

Came back after management invited me to give HULA'S another try, and they absolutely redeemed…read morethemselves! Huge thanks to the management and ownership for genuinely caring about their guests it really shows. A special shoutout to my waitress, Kaitlyn. She was an absolute pleasure and made the experience even better. I had the HULA'S Mai Tai, crispy coconut shrimp rolls, and fried sweet plantains. The Mai Tai and shrimp rolls were my favorites! As someone with tropical roots, I know good plantains. While they're not quite like the Caribbean, they definitely satisfied my tropical craving. The highlight of my visit was being surprised with a birthday ice cream sundae and a candle it was such a thoughtful touch. I'll definitely be back to try the tacos and the Arizona-brewed IPA. Thank you, HULA'S, for turning my first impression into a great one!
