I came here for a date. I was a little bit late. They only give you 90 minutes for the table so we were rushed. The experience is cool. The way they have it set up and decorated is really cool. I found the table and chairs we were at a bit uncomfortable. But we had a little winter that had a moving ocean view which was cool. The servers play into the fact your supposed to be on a ship and it feels like your on a ship so it is a complete experience. Went here for Valentine's Day and it was so awesome! Never been here before but heard great things about the Phoenix location. We noticed there was a Gilbert location (closer to home) so we finally tried it! It was such an awesome experience! The decor and environment inside made you really feel like your under deck of a ship. The drinks were AMAZING! They have tons to choose from but majority are run based. The staff was helpful by proving information about the establishment and drink options. We plan to go back and bring friends! Check it out if you have an opportunity! It's best to reserve your spot. A friend and I came in here for the first time just a bit ago. We had heard of the one in Phoenix but we hadn't had a chance to make it there yet. When we heard about one opening in Gilbert we had to go. Make sure you get reservations and know there is a $20 beverage minimum per person. It is a very small space and they do not serve food, but boy is this an experience. The ship theme is done amazingly and you really feel like you are on a ship in the Caribbean Sea! We got there early and used their texting system to check in. When they let us know our table ready we went the hostess and we're seated at our porthole table within 5 minutes. The service was amazing and the drinks were absolutely delicious! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and able to help us with our drink order. They have an extensive menu which can be a bit intimidating but your server will totally help you out. We each had two drinks, which was all we could fit in during our 90 minute window. They will give you a 30 min warning and then polite nudges when your time is up. We cannot wait to go back and try out more of their cocktails. We came here for a date night just before Halloween and it was awesome! We had a table next to a porthole. The image in the porthole was a video with an island and volcano in the distance. The water lapped and moved and made you feel like you were on a ship. Started off with shots then had about 2 other drinks. Later, we encountered a loud thunder clap and we're in a storm! I really liked my Arcadia experience but this time it just felt overpriced and boring. We both ordered a pumpkin drink that tasted nothing like pumpkin it was pretty bad. Plus the boat was docked so the window views pretty much stayed the same the entire experience. Super lame since that's suppose to be the whole fun of it! We came here for our anniversary and to see if this place is all it was advertised. When you walk in there's a hallway taking you to the main bar and small tables around the bar. We were sat at the end on the room and the table was a very small round table, my phone dropped off the edge because it was so dark and I couldn't see where the table ended. They have tropical music playing and at times it was way too loud, my wife and I had a hard time hearing each other at some times during our 90 minutes there. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice change from your normal bar or restaurant scenes. This did remind us of the Tiki Bar at Disneyland. In a stressful world we all need a little vacation. Well, Undertow is an adult Disneyland right here in Gilbert. It's as though a finely detailed Pirates of the Caribbean also served the best tiki cocktails around! We love the classic section of the menu, especially the Chi Chi, Three Dots & a Dash, Mai Tai and Pi Yi. For a complex take on a run old fashioned, the JM's Paradise Lost is superb. This place is cool! You can't bring in food but they were nice enough to offer to hold our take out while we enjoyed a cocktail. The bar is mystical and dark inside. They are a cruise ship type of theme and every seat has a port window that shows animated ocean views! The lighting reflect the images and every port window has a different view. We started with some shot and it was really cool that they came in a cute glass and a house made rice crispy too! We also got drinks, my gf got a Mai tai and I got an old fashion. I was so happy to see my drink come with a branded ice cube. Stop in to this place but make a reservation because it's pretty popular. Worth the experience and it'll make you smile. read more

The pictures don't do it justice, there's audio that queues with the lighting effects which happen periodically throughout which can get loud, so get ready to lose your voice trying to have a conversation. Part of the fun, i say! If you're new, don't expect the cover charge to be applied to the drinks. I go to a lot of speakeasies up and down the west and NYC and I've been to Tradervics, the inventors of the Mai Tai. The drinks here are top notch, expertly crafted and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and are always there to help recommend a drink and explain what they are. The surrounding business area is clean, safe, and well lit. Definetly a different experience from most places in Gilbert. In the new epicenter complex you can find this small cocktail lounge. Reservations are recommended and they do take a deposit for the minimum beverage amount. We went randomly and happened to be lucky enough to get two seats at the bar. The seats at the High tops are cool because there is a tiny window that looks out onto a fake ocean. The place is quite small but very well.decorated. we weren't crazy about the bar seats as we were sat in front of a pole which is just awkward. They have a very large menu of cocktails including most liquors and mixtures you could think of. The prices are typically 17-21 with some more expensive ones at 50 and up. The cocktails were great but service was so so. It didn't quite have that sit at the bar feeling as the bartenders weren't to friendly. read more

Came in for a birthday, which was an option to check when you make your reservation. Not entirely sure why, as absolutely nothing happened and nothing was done for the birthday gal. Not even a "happy birthday". Disappointing for sure. I guess I was under the impression that a "cocktail experience" would be more of an...experience?! Tell me the story/enact the story that's in the book, don't make me read it under really poor lighting! The cocktails we ordered were really yummy and creative--this was the highlight. The downside is that they're 80% ice. Bartenders were also really nice. Dark interior, decorated somewhat like a tiki lounge, extensive drink menu with lots of fancy ingredients nobody is familiar with, and sunset/a storm happening outside the portholes. To make a reservation, you get charged $20 per person. Plus a $6 fee for...something? For us, that meant they applied $40 towards drinks. Our grand total for 4 drinks was $75, which also then includes a fee for server benefits. Could go to any tiki bar and have more drinks at a better price. I can't tell you if this place was good or not. I stopped in to get a gift card for a Christmas gift. Was told this weirdly pretentious story about limited edition gold doubloons for gift cards. They were sold out. I was like ok, I don't need the fancy doubloons, just a regular gift certificate will do. And was once again told about the doubloons. I asked if they sold e-gift cards on line. And for a third time, was told about the sold out gold doubloons as if we hadnt had this conversation 30 seconds prior. Then I was told it would be weeks before they would have them again. Unfortunately my husband and I will not be returning to this location due to the unkind service we received by the hostess (a young g woman with long brown hair and piercings). The drinks were amazing and the bar tender was great however our experience was completely ruined by the woman at the front who checked us in. First I set up a reservation on the website and could only book for 6 people and had to send an email for a bigger party which I did. I never heard back from the company to see if they could reserve a spot for 9 people for my husband's 30th birthday party. I booked a week in advanced and also called daily, and left messages with a call back number and never heard back. Eventually we ended up booking another reservation for an additional 3 people because I never heard back from booking in hopes we could sit together if we talked to them. When we got to undertow we went an hour early to explain the situation to see if they could seat us together and the hostess who was working so rudely made me feel unwanted by the company like I was putting her out to see if we could make this accommodation possible since I could not get ahold of the location. I sat out in the waiting area for a half hour for her to tell me rudely that they could seat us together but our reservation would be pushed back to a later time. I greatly appreciated her but she snapped back at me multiple times saying that is was my fault and that she called me 3 times to make the original reservation of 9 people possible. I honestly did not receive any missed calls from undertow. Anyways I was so happy they could seat us together and was going to let go of how rude the hostess was to me and my husband for his birthday. Now comes our seating time that we waited for. We show up at our designated time and all our friends were checked in. The hostess checked our ID's and had some troubles with my ID. Instead of being flexible about our situation the hostess continued to be rude to primarily myself and made me cry in the doorway with how unprofessional she was behaving and how condescending she was towards me. At one point I just told my husband to go celebrate his 30th with our friends and I would wait outside the restaurant. Eventually I asked one last time for the hostess to let me celebrate with my husband and she let me join our party that I made reservations for. We had a nice time during our stay with the bartender service but because of the situation that followed with the hostess we will NOT be returning to this location and would NOT recommend this establishment to our friends and family. I was so disappointed with how rude and full out mean the lady was choosing to be towards a friendly group of friends wanting to enjoy a friend's 30th birthday. I really wish she didn't ruin the evening and hope that management has a conversation with their staff about their professionalism with customers. read more

First walking in our hostess Valerie was very friendly and explained the menu very thoroughly as I had a couple questions right away. She shared some of her favorite drinks which were DELICIOUS. She made sure we stayed for the storm which happens every hour. Our server Stefan was also super nice and attentive. We were all pretty shocked at how small the space was when we noticed that our party pretty much took over the whole place. What kind of bothered us was that the whole time we all felt completely rushed. I understand the 90 minute time limit, but one of the waitstaff was constantly coming over to give us a countdown. This is a date for 2 celebrating a birthday, so we aren't looking to socialize with strangers. We see 2-tops leaving on 3 occasions and ask to move. I re-iterate it's a birthday and am told no, with zero understanding. Jordan tells me they won't move us and will ring a bell for the birthday. Can you guess what never happens?
