We had the cutest family breakfast at Turning Point this morning. Despite being a party of five, we were able to be seated pretty quickly. Most of us ordered a fun beverage to start the meal, be it a hot chocolate or an iced coffee. These also came out quickly and looked delicious. They were a hit amongst our group. For my meal, I ordered the Big Easy Eggs Benedict with a strawberry/chocolate pancake on the side. I've never had a Benedict made with cornbread as the base, or really any Benedict like this. I didn't wait for the weekend because I was afraid I would forget to use it and I have a lot going on this month. I ended up trying their new Italian Fisherman Omelet which is lobster meat with prosciutto on an omelette w cheese. I chose greens and buttered sour dough for my add on sides. The greens were fresh and the bread was good. The omelette was reasonably fresh. Despite being a regional chain, you know your food here will typically be good quality. They have a reasonably big enough menu. I still prefer First Watch and Bittersweet Kitchen more personally, but I wouldn't say no to a Turning Point either. The waitress was nice even though I couldn't order the food until later on in the day due to work and all the patrons had left by 230 and it was about 235 PM. The website I used said closing at 3 but they underandably stop seating at 230 PM. We had an overall solid experience, except that for those of us who ordered the omelet with goat cheese, they were out of goat cheese... I have been to the Turning Point in Bryn Mawr numerous times over the years and have always been satisfied with the service, cleanliness and quality food. My recent experience did not live up to expectations. First of all, our waitress tried to take our menus before we even had a chance to order breakfast. I think she assumed we were just there for coffee but did not ask or clarify that. My companion ordered an egg with muffin and received a bagel instead. She cannot eat bagels at all. Again, we were never asked if either of us had food allergies or items we were unable to eat. Overall, the service was slow and below par from what I expected from the Turning Point. The lobster in the eggs Benedict was underwhelming. I would rather eat a lobster as is on its own, and an eggs Benedict on its own as well. The two together didn't go well together. Something about eating the egg and lobster together was odd to me, though on the menu it sounded amazing. My friend got a caramel latte and their special season pumpkin pancakes. They said that the pancakes were perfect. Not too sweet, but drinking the sweet coffee was overwhelming with the pancakes. I went here with some coworkers for lunch recently. It was a very cute place - I loved the country/farmhouse style décor, and the whole place was just bright and airy. The cozy fireplace was a cozy touch (especially on a cold rainy day like the day we went), and they have a bunch of beautiful (and real, believe it or not!!!) philodendrons throughout the restaurant. Overall, great ambience! The food was really pretty good as well - I had the grilled Bubbies sandwich (pastrami, grilled onions, spinach, tomato, swiss, and honey mustard on rye). It came with two pickle slices and a side of slaw (I have to say it was THE smallest side I've ever seen in my life - a little condiment size container that was only halfway full; it was good, but the little container should have been full at least). The sandwich came with tortilla chips and a nice fresh salsa, which is a little different than most places that serve the usual potato chips. While I found it to be a little bit of an odd combo, I do like tortilla chips better than potato chips, so I was fine with it. My coworkers seemed to enjoy their meals as well. The service was a bit on the slow side but they were packed when we got there right at lunchtime and we weren't in a rush, so it didn't bother us. Our server was very nice, and I saw someone who was clearly the Manager walking around that had the biggest smile on his face. I couldn't help but smile looking at him. Overall - a great visit. Our reservation for party of 16 was for 1PM. When we got there, we were told that our table was getting set up and it'd only be a few minutes....yet by 1:30, we were still waiting. Finally we asked about our table, and they admitted that the table before us hadn't left yet. Had we known we would've had to stand around for over half an hour then we would've just eaten elsewhere. Strike 1. We finally got seated around 1:40. We tried flagging our server down to get water, as we had a toddler begging for water and a CRYING teenager, but instead she kept holding up one finger and running in and out. We finally got our water fifteen minutes later. Strike 2. Food? I don't even know what to say about the food. When we tried to order, this breakfast place was OUT OF BACON, SAUSAGE, HAM. How are you a breakfast joint and run out of all breakfast meat? Well our friend also ordered the waffles with bacon crumbles, and she was individually told that her waffles would sti have the bacon crumbles because that hadn't run out. Yet, her waffles came out without the bacon. Surprising? Not really. When we asked the server, she said she'd bring it right out. But of course, after the waffles were already completely eaten, our server finally came back half an hour later to say they had indeed run out. We also had the fruit bowl which had ROTTEN blueberries! Apologies? Of course not. Not one single apology from anyone in this place for their error after error. Oh, by the way, did I mention that our party of SIXTEEN was seated at two tables that normally hold EIGHT people? Luckily we had 3 people cancel but still it was outrageously tight even with THIRTEEN people. Never returning, and never recommending. We finally found out about the wait list from another frustrated customer we joined and waited over the 45 minutes. Tried several times to get someone's attention that we had joined and were there. I got there and had to wait at least 15 minutes to get sat when there were so many empty tables. The service was horrible and took forever to get our orders taken and to get our food. The food was so mid and could have made it better myself. A few times I came here and everything was spot on but other times...Let's just say I went to McDonald's right after. I think the coffee here is easily burned so I tend to get a tea option. It hurts to not rate Turning Point 5 stars, as the food is wonderful, but for the past few times I've visited, the cleanliness has left much to be desired. Earlier this year, a spoon I received was covered in some kind of food and had clearly not been cleaned (despite being packaged in a utensil bag). In addition to this, when I visited just yesterday, the water we received for the table had some kind of debris floating around in it, and the glasses we were given were very clearly unclean. I hope that this is not the fault of any workers, and is rather an issue with a dish washer or something. There are a handful of brunch spots in the burbs that are worth waiting in a line for over 20 minutes. I'm absolutely open to waiting in a line for a good brunch. I'll wait nearly an hour at places like The Kettle, Sabrina's, Ardmore Station Cafe, and Nudy's (restricted to Main LIne restaurants not taking brunch reservations). Turning Point is NOT worth waiting more than 15 minutes in a line to be seated. The food and service are mediocre at best. We waited in line 40 minutes. It took 15 minutes to order our drinks after being seated, and another 15 minutes before we got them. All in all, it took 45 minutes before we had food in front of us. I had the Wilbur Skillet, and my bf had a french toast. We have had far better of both items at diners and pancake houses. These dishes were okay, but left us feeling duped for standing in line 40 minutes at this "oh so great brunch establishment." Service was friendly but really slow. The interior is lovely. They have outdoor seating (it seems, only if they have enough staff) on warm days. They also use a seating app, so be sure to call ahead or use this app and you *might* have an under-30 minute wait. But really, rather than waiting in a ridiculous line for a mediocre experience, head to another establishment nearby (Mainline Bistro & Creperie, Gryphon) or farther away (see list of worthwhile-waits-in-the-burbs above). read more

Food was decent. I order a skillet with bacon in it and there was no bacon to be found. Unfortunately, our waitress never came back so I wasn't able to ask for bacon to be added. Also, our water "jug" that they leave on the table was full of stuck on food. I understand the farm appeal they are going for but these just can't be put through the normal dish washer that restaurants use, for this reason. We will give it another try I am sure.
