I had a really bad experience at Maman in Suburban Square and honestly don't plan on going back. The first time I ever went, I literally saw an ant crawling in the cookies, which should've been my sign to stay away. But I gave it another chance... mistake. Today I went around 4:30 on a Thursday (they close at 6), and they were already mopping the floors like they were trying to shut down early. My friend and I still ordered and spent $14 on a coffee and a pastry, and the pastry was $7 by itself. Then they told us they couldn't warm it up because the kitchen was "closed"... We sat down to do some work, and as soon as my friend took out her laptop, an employee came over and told us it's a "laptop-free environment." Meanwhile there were maybe 4 other people in the entire place and tons of empty tables. It wasn't busy at all, so it just felt unnecessary and honestly a little rude. The whole place felt like they didn't want customers there -- wet floors everywhere, weird rules, overpriced food, and just an uncomfortable vibe overall. I visited maman in Suburban Square for my second time recently and it did not disappoint! When you walk in, you suddenly feel like you've been transported to a greenhouse filled with your favorite things: specialty coffees and gorgeous french pastries. Personally, the atmosphere makes smile from ear-to-ear. My first time around, back in the winter, I opted for the pistachio hot chocolate. It was rich and delectable. Definitely not an everyday drink, but if you're getting a hankering for warming hot coco, this is the move! TikTok made me do this: Iced Salted Tahini Honeycomb Latte. All the cool kids have been talking about it and therefore I could not wait to try it myself. It was.....interesting and savory? It wasn't bad....I just can't put my finger quite on how to describe it. If you don't enjoy the flavor of sesame and salt this is not for you. I don't think I would get it again, but I didn't not enjoy it (if that makes sense). I got the GF chocolate chip chai cookie for my husband. I love how comfy and livingroom the interior vibes feel despite being so large and within a former burger joint. despite being on the corner of a bustling suburban shopping sprawl, the curtains and cozy seating arrangements make it feel like you are anywhere but. If you come early enough breakfast is on the menu with options like a quiche of the day, smashed avocado tartine, and a build-your-own omelet. And lunch hooks up plenty of delectable sandwich options. But for me, the best option here is satisfying your sweet tooth with their decadent pastries and cookies. if the vegan sesame tahini dark chocolate cookies and mocha tea cakes weren't seasonal items I would order that decadence all of the time! But I also enjoy their buttery and flaky croissants, and their crumbly coffee cakes. When it comes to beverages the matcha latte and honey lavender latte are absolute winners that succeed in revitalizing me every time that I order them. But much like the case with the pastries, perusing through the seasonal and limited edition beverages is an absolute must so long as they lead to things like a pistachio wreath dark chocolate cappuccino, frosted peppermint almond matcha latte, and bergamot & clementine winter tea elixir. I've been doing quick bakery take away at Maman most of the time but this day, I ordered a quiche to go and a pistachio chocolate croissant. The server working at the bakery area was very friendly and upbeat with a smile and the barista made a perfect latte. I took about 10 minutes from my quiche and it was perfectly heated and delicious. I was admiring the decor that made me feel like I was on a patio in France. I love the French blueprint dishes. I'll come back when I have time to sit neat their pastries are very authentic Parisian as well as their quiche. Maman has been on my list to visit forever and I'm so happy that there is one in Ardmore which isn't too far of a distance for me to visit. I still want to visit some other locations as they all look a little bit different. I will say that I wanted to come here primarily for their coffee and pastries, the food menu didn't excite me that much but they do offer breakfast and lunch. This location is fairly small but still has great attention to detail although it may not be as ornately designed as some of the other locations. With French influences this truly feels like a little luxury within a suburb of Philly. I love that they use real plates and cups and I love the variety in pastries as well as their seasonal offerings. I went with papas pecan pie latte and a Nutella beignet. The beignet was delightfully fresh and the coffees presentation was beautiful but also was super tasty and creamy. They had milk options which they asked me and I usually just tell them to make it with their standard recipe. So devine and such a nice treat. They had one person manning the cashier who also handed out the pastries which are all showcased on the side. You receive a table number for coffee and kitchen food and a runner brings that to you. Staff was nice. Overall was clean. Very busy but they do have a fair amount of seating. We were lucky to snag a table. I also took their cinnamon roll kouign-amann which was such a delicious twist on a regular cinnamon roll. I cannot wait to go back or visit another location. My second visit to this chain. I wanted to try the Maman App. First: I don't usually order ahead. But there was $5 incentive. And you can't switch pick-up to in-house after ordering. Second: it adds in a 30-minute wait to accommodate if it's busy. It was not, so I only had to wait 10 minutes. Third: my breakfast roll was only slightly warm, cold in the center. So not great. I am not a huge coffee drinker but sometimes have a craving for a latte and I love the coffee shop feel. Since I'm not a huge coffee drinker I relied on my husband (a coffee addict) for his feedback. We both got small vanilla lattes. He said it was one of the best lattes he's had and that he should jace gotten a larger size. He said he was going to go back the next day for another cup. Came back for brunch and what a terrible experience. The service this visit was actually horrendous. The service wasn't great last visit but this was something else. Was informed after waiting in line to just find a table before ordering and that they don't hold tables. I asked if they want patrons to just hover around a table and the service worker just shrugged. So we waited for a table for a while, finally one came up and a family came up stating the restaurant was holding the table for them even though I was informed they do not assist with getting tables for customers. I really wanted to like this spot but there's not much I can excuse for terrible service and such a chaotic experience. This place is not worth it. The iced mocha was very expensive/ watered down and the atmosphere was not ideal. We were informed that laptops are, basically, not allowed in the cafe shop and the workers will kick you out if it gets too busy and you are seen working on a laptop. Ended up going to Starbucks down the street. Not the friendliest of coffee shops in Ardmore, and parking is also a hassle. Save your money and time. Go elsewhere! read more

I'm surprised this place has such low review on yelp. We found out this is a bakery chain from NYC but we've never been to the one in NYC. We were shopping around the area and stopped by for some pastries. We got the chocolate hazelnut flan and the pistachio orange olive oil cake. I love their unique selections. Both pastries were amazing and good amount of sweetness. There were other items I wanted to try but were sold out by the afternoon. I was super excited to check this place out since the one in NYC is too far. The cafe itself is very nicely decorated. The seating area and everything was super cute. The pastries we got, pistachio cherry cube croissant and Oprah's cookie, wasn't amazing. The croissant wasn't as crispy and flakey as it looked. I also got a pistachio milk latte which I thought was just okay as well. I barely tasted any pistachio flavor. The last thing I noticed was the staff wasn't very friendly. I asked a question about one of their drinks and just felt like I was a bother for asking. Continued love for maman's pastries (and gluten free baked goods), although the Katie's Sandwich got smaller (1 instead of 2 whole sandwiches,which is completely reasonable). The salmon tartine is another favorite. Still one of my favorite places to go to meet a friend(s) for a drink and/or a bite. Just got out of Maman and had a bad experience. The lady at the ordering counter was polite but maybe not attentive. We ordered five pieces of pastry and one large latte and one lemonade. Got one of the pastry wrong and asked her to change it. Then when I went to pick up the drink, only got the latte. When I asked the young lady at the drink station, she gave me a bad attitude, almost like accusing me of wanting to some free drink. She gave me the lemonade but not the special honey one that we ordered just pure lemonade which is very sour. Then we also noticed that the latte we got was small instead of large. When I asked her, again she was like I heard the order lady said it was small when you ordered it. First of all, my wife ordered that not me, and if you hear the orde, how come you didn't hear the lemonade order. Honestly, I paid $40 plus tip for 5 pieces of pastry and couple drinks, I am not con you out of a free drink or a large coffee size. It was Mother's Day, so we don't want to argue too much and just left. One regret that I didn't ask for the printed receipt after I paid so I can show her. Maman is a chain coffee shop/bakery that I know from NYC. Note that this one is in the mall (that is, Suburban Square). It's okay. Their specialties are honey lavender lattes (which I don't hate, but I think their coffee beans aren't the best so therefore their coffee drinks aren't the best) and French-ish pastries. I like their cakes and breads but find the cookies to be mediocre. As for food, it's not bad but also not nearly the best that you could do for the price. Think lululemon on a plate. The dining room is cute with big windows and a good amount of seating. Note that a lot of the tables are communal, which people may or may not appreciate. read more

I was in New York a couple of weeks ago and wanted to go to Maman. I think we ran out of time or we had another coffee shop in mind. I was in the shopping center for an eye appointment and was walking around when I came across this sign. I couldn't believe my eyes. I walked in and it was so beautiful. Not only are there floral prints on the coffee cups but also on their coffee machines. There are so many desserts to pick up from like three different croissants and ten different cookies. It's absolutely beautiful and rustic inside. I am dropping one star because I was not greeted which is fine but there was plenty of staff. When I came to the register, two workers were talking to one another for three minutes straight. The only thing between me and them was the register. There is no way someone doesn't see from their peripheral view a customer walk up. I got the creme brûlée cookie and I think it was one of the best desserts I have ever had. I was delighted to find a Maman. (the last time I went to this restaurant. It was a Ruby's diner) The food was lovely and delicious!! I liked the long, community farm tables too. The atmosphere is rustic charm and it works!I thought the restaurant would be sit down but during the week it is counter service. It was not a problem. I had trouble deciding what to order and settled on smoked salmon on top of avocado toast. We really liked the delicious quiche as well. My daughter and I had always wanted to try maman and had an opportunity to early one Friday morning. The place is cheerful and quaint and has a Parisian feel. Upon entering, you'll see a display case of delicious-looking French pastries. We both ordered the smashed avocado tartine which had sea salt, chili flakes, and pumpkin seeds on the side. We had it topped with an egg although I would have liked 2 eggs, one for each piece. The matcha latte was good and beautifully presented in a china teacup with a design of swirled, steamed almond milk. My daughter had a cold chai latte. We enjoyed our breakfast in this peaceful setting with French tunes in the background. When we were finished, since the cafe is self-serve (they did bring our food out), we weren't sure what to do with our dirty dishes so we bussed the table ourselves and put everything in a bin.
