Hands down my favorite new local coffeehouse, and bonus points for it delivering awesome Greek baked goods and a damn good pastrami sandwich! When I first heard about their aspirations of being a coffeehouse that specialized in Northern Greece cuisine, I was instantly sold. And since then, I've enjoyed the quality service and sense of community that they have brought to the Ardmore area by doing things like partnering with other local businesses, like Mavey Books, to sell their goods. The interior features great table spaces for groups of all sizes, including some comfortable couches, and window seats that overlook Lancaster Ave while you get some work done. The coffee offerings feature all the classics that you'd expect, including rarer offerings like flat whites and cortados. But for me its the speciality drinks like the strawberry cloud matcha and their lavender Levaux Latte that especially deliver a win. For breakfast offerings, it doesn't get much better than phylo dough filled with feta cheese, and you can get that as spanakopita, cheese pie, and bougatsa. But they also have plenty of sweet and vegan pastry options and a Greek bagel. For lunch, there's the best pastrami sandwich that I've had outside of a deli or BBQ joint. I typically go to Char & Stave when I'm visiting the area, but it's always good to switch up your routine, and on a day when I didn't want to work too late, I decided to give The Brew Room a try (they close at 5 PM). On a Sunday afternoon, they were quite busy with a mix of folks socializing and students studying. I claimed a table and visited the service counter (passing some inviting-looking pastries), where I asked for my go-to, a hot mocha (if it's warmer, I go for iced). Service is friendly, and it's a comfortable environment, with a window-facing string of counter seats (the kind at which you can sit or stand), a bunch of two tops along the wall that are generally all near outlets, as well as some couches and round tables; in short, there's variety, though if you need an outlet, you have slightly fewer choices. I appreciate the big front windows, as they allow in lots of natural light. Also, while there did seem to be some music, it's very background. So what keeps them from earning that fifth star? The drink itself. I've had mochas everywhere--from Char & Stave around the corner to Nemesis, Revolver and Prototype in Vancouver to Stereoscope and dozens of others in LA, my home city. (I'm also ashamed to admit I have one once a year at Starbucks, when everyone else is closed and there are no other options. If you cut the standard number of squirts of chocolate in half, it's palatable.) A good mocha should hit you with that chocolate note, followed by the coffee note. While the mocha here was fine, the milk note was relatively too strong, leaving the chocolate and coffee notes muddled. Maybe if I'd gotten the 12 oz version rather than the 16 oz version... In any case, not a bad mocha, but not a top-notch one. Also, I'd have loved to see it in a real mug instead of a disposable cup (I did specify "for here," in case that made a difference). I did see some glass floating around--maybe that was for tea? In any case, I see people raving about the Freddo Cappuccino and few other items (I'll bet the pastries are excellent), and I'd certainly give them another try and see if they can wow me with those. read more

Stopped by for a morning of work, and was pleasantly surprised! Nice interior, lots of seating, not too busy or too much background noise or chatter. Definitely not blasting annoying music like they were over at Char & Stave. Service was a bit slow, but still friendly given the longer wait. I ordered one of the specialty drinks, and honestly I'm not able to remember the name, but it was delicious! Like the range of new flavors that they try out here, rather than the stock range of chai/matcha flavors that other coffee places use. Wi-fi and outlets are decent, except for one briefly 30 minute spell when it seemed like the wi-fi absolutely tanked. It was a bit disruptive but ultimately came back and allowed for me to finish up well. I'd come back! read more

I'll start with the good: the Freddo Cappucino is amazing and extremely unique. I would drink those all day. I also really like their white hot chocolate, which is super sweet and great for a cold day. Otherwise, I'm not super wowed by this place but I do like their drinks well enough. Their drip coffee is kind of lacking in my opinion. At least it seems like a nice place to hang out, and for what it's worth their drink menu is expansive plus they offer some interesting Greek goodies as well. Get the Freddo if you do try it. read more

Great space. Laid back but not quiet. Modern feel. Lots of pastry and sandwich options so you can go sweet or savory. Great care in the coffee making. Drip options posted. Prices are not for the faint of heart. My Mabry was $7.95. Not an extraordinary price for a great coffee in this time of high inflation and foolish tariffs. Loved the drink and the space! read more

The Brew Room has to be one of the best additions to come to Ardmore! A traditional Greek take on a coffee shop- it's genius! The owners and team are so kind, accommodating, inventive. The first time I ever visited the owner even generously offered up the Vanilla Bougatsa which is Flaky Greek phyllo pastry filled with velvety vanilla custard. And let me tell you- IT IS TO DIIIIEEEE FOR! Not to mention, all of the Greek treats ARE HOMEMADE! It's literally like you're at a local cafe in any Greek city- no joke. Now let's get to the star- the coffee!!! You have all of your staple coffee and tea options, PLUS the traditional Greek options!!!!! Like come onnnnn! I had to try the Freddo Cappucino which is skakin over ice with whipped milk. It is the epitome of what you'd assume a cloud of coffee tastes like. Strong, but delicious! Additionally, the head barista, has all sorts of ideas up his sleeve. He recently introduced a fall apple cinnamon latte which has a homemade syrup packed with apple, cinnamon, clove, orange zest and is served with fresh cinnamon and a dried apple. This place might be my new favorite! I stopped in and tried their Freddo Espresso and Freddo Cappuccino - both were really good. They also have yummy pastries - I got a croissant and spanakopita and both were flaky and delicious. The ambiance is beautiful as well and I could see myself sitting in here and spending time here. read more

Went here on their second day open. It was hopping but the staff were so friendly and efficient you'd think they'd been open for years. Matcha latte was excellent, mini spanokopitas were flakey and rich without feeling too dense. My companion (age 4) rated both his white hot chocolate and his brookie as 10/10. He also stole two of my mini spanokopitas and declared that he likes spinach now so I think that probably speaks for itself. read more

We have had nothing but delicious meals and coffees at The Brew room. The staff are always very personable. There was hardly a wait time. Its atmosphere is cozy, comfortable, and eclectic. It is my go to coffee shop whether I am going to Pilates next door and I pop over or my husband, my kids and I go together. It truly is an experience. I've had their freddo cappuccino (iced) so so good. Along with their chai and matcha latte. The spanikopita is my favorite. It's good. Everything is good, nothing was great. Spanikopita phyllo wasn't very thin and flaky, but good flavor. Pastrami melt had great bread and good overall flavor but the meat was pretty middling. Coffee was good. Cortado was pretty good - not the smoothest blend (I think the espresso was pulled on just slightly too high a temperature), but it was actually pretty close to good, which is honestly a miracle for this area. read more

Coffee is ok, not great (much better at nearby Char and Stave). Ambiance is nice and pastries are solid. I brought my own 20 oz cup and they filled it up a little more than halfway, and charged me for a 16 oz cup without realizing they make far more $ by not having to provide their cup, cap and sleeve. Not a customer first mentality. read more
