Hobbs is a neat café, and on the bigger side. I found this place on my recent summer café obsession where my wife and I have been searching for a new place for coffee every week to two weeks. We have been pleasantly surprised to find a great variety and way more than we thought after moving here from Philly several years ago, and Hobbs certainly doesn't disappoint. While I will say that their espresso is not the absolute best I have had in Delco, their drinks are top notch, and are brewed to perfection; shots pulled perfectly and crafted exactly as asked. I have had a cappuccino on each occasion here, and while each barista has their own very slight variation on the classic drink, it is delicious every single time, regardless of who is steaming the milk. What I have found to be even more of a draw is the people who work here and their commitment to great service, as well as their ability to remember who comes in, even if it's only been once or twice, as after only a single visit, we were remembered weeks later by those behind the counter. Not a small feat when you have hundreds of patrons daily. However, despite the coffee, the service, the fact that it's on a corner in cute little Swarthmore, I have to talk about the soup! First, let me say that I am a soup freak. Like insane for soup. I would eat soup for every meal of every day, regardless of season, and be completely content....no....extremely happy for the rest of my life. Hobbs has soup. Good freakin' soup. They have soup for breakfast, even. Which is fine with me. What's more, is that it is completely obvious that their soup is homemade on-premises, and someone who works there loves soup just as much as I do, and is pouring their heart and soul into the pots of soup like Beethoven did to his original 11 symphonies, or with the emotion felt from the paintings towards the end of Van Gogh's career. These are masterpieces of chopped vegetables, stewed with broth from scratch........and they rotate so frequently I cannot keep up. It is hopeless for me to even try, despite the fact that I want to try every single soup one, because I don't live next door. Otherwise I would be in here every day to check on the soup for the day and.get it piping hot. One day soon, I will find out who their soup maestro is and give them their due credit. Until I do, you should come here and taste for yourself. It's never too early for soup season to start, even if it's in the middle of summer.

The service is excellent, and pre-pandemic, they had a great amount of quality options. Present-pandemic, there are not so many great options, but their food is quality. I tried their local kind of "news" of hard to order Divine's pizza as you order it through Instagram or a different phone number, but you pick it up at Hobbs itself. It's a nice pizza, but I still like Rize better for something more local. I was glad to try it once and support a local business though.

Love Hobbs! Their latte consistently tastes great. Additionally their breakfast sandwiches are made to order and are just what you need to start off the morning right. Good vibes, good service and nice place to sit, chat, do work or just do take out.

Definitely a good option in Swarthmore town. The mocha was delicious. The breakfast sandwiches (pork rolls) were tasty but not spectacular. The breakfast burrito was probably the best part. The staff was very nice. There's parking in town but very limited on the weekend due to the farmers market. I'm posting a picture of the current menu because I couldn't find it anywhere online. Just amending my review as I've been there a few times... the above still holds true but I took away one star because the last three times we've gone, the breakfast sandwiches and burritos have been burned. Not tasty char but actually a bit burned. Still edible but seems like something easy to fix.

Service could be faster but it's probably a function of the small cute town vibe. Breakfast sandwiches are great.

Backing out is a bit of a pain since you're on Chester Pike and right next to a school, but I managed. The inside is clean, bright and visually appealing. They sell some bakery items, breakfast sandwiches and a lot of coffee/tea based drinks (protein drinks, smoothies, frappes, refreshers, fusion brews, performance drinks, matcha, etc.) I tried the 16oz Premium Signature Coffee Blend - Peruvian and Indonesian blend at $3.25. The coffee was medium bodied with herbal, floral, chocolate and cedar notes in the aroma and taste. It was an OK brew, but not the type of blend I prefer. If you drink regular Dunkin coffee black you'll see a bit of a similarity in the herbal/floral taste. I snagged a couple Almond Chocolate Biscotti's to accompany my cup and they were tasty. On my second visit I grabbed a 4 oz Cortado with whole milk. The balance was pretty much right down the middle. The espresso had flavors of dark cocoa and a deep roast. The milk help shade the acidity so it was very robust without being overly creamy. Foam was light so he did a good job. On the other side of the building is their roasting operation. They have displays with coffee, merch and coffee/tea accessories. I had two good experiences at Afaf. The location might not be the greatest (Wawa close by), but the guy who took care of me (most likely the owner) was really nice and seemed to have put a lot of work into this venture. I'd grab a cup here before giving Wawa another customer. Thanks and best of luck!

Was very excited to stop in and try Afaf this morning! Tried to come here on Sunday and they were…read morenot open despite having their "grand opening" this past Saturday. The space is cozy and has a very neat adjoining space where they are doing some in-house roasting on a seemingly small scale, which provided some pretty exciting thoughts as about what they may be doing in the future as far as local roasts and other specialty offerings. Everyone behind the counter was also very upbeat and bright and it seems that this is definitely family owned and possibly a second location. Some of the staff seems new to coffee in general, but they will be up to speed in no time. What drew my attention the most was the interesting offerings that Afaf has that you do not see in many, if any, other places. The most striking feature is the Moroccan "special tea". Having had the chance to have legitimate prepared Moroccan tea with fresh mint brewed into the tea before, I was instantly drawn to this and I spoke to the owner at length about the menu and how I would be over-the-top excited if they added tagine to the menu, lol. He was playful with my suggestions and was definitely interested in din preparing the tea, although I did not have time for it to be prepared freshly, and will be following up, having this as the drink on my second visit here for sure. Thai brings me to my macchiato and hash browns. This also is the part where Afaf needs a little work. This place has all the hallmarks of being one of the best in the area, and I will not knock them as they JUST opened. However, the macchiato I ordered was not a traditional macchiato even after discussing the beverage with the barista...this is something I am used to as most places do not make a macchiato correctly and I am just as happy drinking it the way the place makes it instead of how it is traditionally prepared, but after having a whole conversation about it, I expected it to come out as discussed. That only leaves the hash browns. While they were indeed flavorful, they were simply frozen tater tots that had been seasoned, and they were barely cooked. I am actually unsure if they were even heated. They were cold, and I know tots come precooked, so it's very possible they were taken out, seasoned, and never finished. All this is likely growing pains, and will not prevent me from coming back, and I cannot wait to try Afaf again, especially the tea and another menu item, possibly something like the caprese they offer. I think within a few weeks this will be a MUST GO destination in the Ridley area for a delicious cup of coffee or an espresso drink and a delicious bit to eat. If you live nearby, give them some love and watch this place grow into something wonderful, and if you're traveling through stop in for a cup and re-energize.

The guy working behind the register was nice and not afraid to talk about their menu. The menu has various: milk teas, sparkling fruity drinks, Vietnamese coffee, fruit tea, healthy juices, smoothies, signature milk drinks and milk foams. They have several toppings for an extra charge. On my first visit he made a tasty Vietnamese iced coffee. Medium $5.75 and Large $6.75. He balanced the condensed milk and coffee just right for my liking - not too sugary with a good mostly bold earthy roasted coffee flavor. On my second visit I wanted to try one of their "healthy juices". The same guy recommended either the Tropical Twist (pineapple + apple + orange + kale) or the Miami Vice (pineapple + apple + celery + beetroot). I went with the Tropical Twist $9.50 for a medium. The flavors were fresh and not overly sweet. I tasted mostly orange and pineapple. It was refreshing on a warmer spring day. I also ordered a hot Vietnamese coffee.... I wanted it black, but it came with condensed milk. The milk was a little on the heavy side, but it was tasty. I'll have to report on their black coffee when I stop back and post a picture. I'm new to the juice game, but $9.50 seemed high and $5.75 for a cup of black coffee is ridiculous. I'd say I've had two good experiences visiting Bunny Bubble Tea. Thanks guys!
