I popped in here to grab breakfast before heading home to MD. The server was very nice and pleasant. After I ordered the food came pretty quickly, and it was excellent. I had the BLT with avocado and every part of the meal was excellent. The toasty bread was crisp and had a really nice texture; the egg was cooked just how I asked; the bacon a perfect balance of crisp and chewy. I asked for an extra side of avocado (I'm all about getting my fiber) and it arrived at the peak of perfect ripeness. The home fries were tender and savory. Also my cappuccino was delicious. The dining area was very clean and had a faintly rustic feel. The bathroom was also sparkling clean. I was in and out in less than 40 minutes, too, but never felt rushed. There were plenty of vegetarian options. I'm not too sure about it if you have to avoid dairy or gluten; the menu has a lot of that. This place continues to impress! We would tell you it's because of the fabulous food and the high-quality ingredients but in reality, I think it's the staff and owners who are gracious and welcoming and... In the middle of an ice storm willing to chop quarter inch of ice from the entire front of the entrance and around the back to make sure all the patrons can get in safe and sound. The 70s soundtrack and extremely comfortable wooden chairs make it even a better experience. Cannot recommend highly enough. We are willing to drive 40 minutes round-trip on a routine basis for this special treat. read more

I took my girls here for lunch and based on the prices I expected more. My daughter ordered an egg sandwich on a croissant which she enjoyed. Her hash browns had large pieces of onion. I feel like small chopped onions would give flavor. My other daughter ordered chocolate chip pancakes which were very fluffy and she loved them. I ordered the most dissapointing dish by far. It was a mozzerella panini which was not as advertised. I think of a paying as being pressed yo cook and melt the sandwich evenly. I was given toasted bread and the mozzerella inside was cold. Not appetizing. I replaced the chips the sandwich came in with French fries. They were sad crinkle cut that had no flavor. Out with my 94 and 93 year old parents and decided to give the Tuscany Cafe a try. I had the "chicken salad" salad with a summer mix and I opted for Blue Cheese dressing on the side. The salad was very good with portion size average. My dad had the grilled eggplant Panini and he really enjoyed it. My mom order the Reuben, the quantity and quality was not what we expected. There was about two slices of Corned Beef; usually the Corned Beef is piled high but not here. The Service was great and the ambiance is nice. Might give them another try, but wouldn't order the Reuben again. read more

If you look at my reviews most would notice that I go out of my way to praise the good and give 5 star reviews. These are peoples livelihoods and I would never want to do anything to cost folks money. That being said, this place did not meet up to my expectations so I couldn't bring myself to give anything more than 2 stars. I am a breakfast person and on the few weekends I have both days off, I usually do one place familiar, and try something new. This place had come up in my searches over the last few years so I decided to give it a shot. Reviews stated that they served La Colombe coffee so I figured, if nothing else, I'd have a great cup of coffee. False. It may have been La Colombe (I doubt it though), but if it was, it was over brewed and tasted burnt. Besides that, my coffee mug was not very clean. The menu was limited but I saw some reviews on here that praised the French toast, so I gave it a shot. It was very dry and lacking in flavor. Extremely disappointed. However, if there was one highlight of my visit, the side of sausage was absolutely delicious. You could taste the fennel and other seasonings. I swear it was either house made, or somewhere local for sure. I asked the person who brought my food (because my server went ghost after bringing my coffee) for an extra syrup to at least help give the French toast a little flavor. Never got it. Looks like they do great business so not getting mine again probably won't make one bit of difference. read more

Our favorites are turkey panini, lox and bagel, avocado toast and just about everything else on the menu. Order the full avocado and chips dish! You won't regret it. My first time here. Breakfast with friends. The place was empty. The tables are a good size. The server was most congenial and kept our coffee full. Excelllent on this point. But, while the food was good it lacked presentation. Very lackluster. The omelet certainly sufficient but flat and dull. The crepes nice but unremarkableable. The saddest was my order, the salmon. This is a standard dish these days. Any other place, including the pervasive Nudy's, sets the salmon out nicely with a bagel, on a bed of greens, olives, red onion and capers. Tuscany makes a sad little sandwich. When our excellent servers brought our orders, no one paid any attention to the dishes. No one breathed in and said, "Well , look at this!" The best way to describe this place is cute and quaint. I had a delicious meal of pancakes and fruit with pork sausage, and my sister had eggs and potatoes with turkey bacon. The presentation was really nice, and I enjoyed my pancakes with the fruit and whip cream topping. I had a little syrup on top too. We didn't get the complimentary desserts (not sure why), but we did order dessert. My sis had a cannoli and I had a blondie that was sprinkled with powered sugar. It was pretty yummy. I haven't been in this place since it was Halligans (i'm sure there were some other restaurants in here between then and now), but it looks completely different inside. They really did a nice job and it has a cool rustic, Italian ambiance. It was pretty busy when we came here even though it was a weekday. The parking situation isn't great. They give you a free sample of bread when you are waiting for your food, which was really good. I ended up ordering French toast, which came with fruit and whipped cream on it. The French toast was good, but not great. It tasted like something I could have made. The coffee was very good. Service was about average. Overall, our experience was fine, but nothing special. Tables are huge, nothing smaller than a 4 top so bring friends (; Being a strict carnivore and meat-centric, I ordered a la carte and had 4 eggs sunny with sausage and a side of bacon. Sausage was tasty and the bacon was just fair at best. It was super thin. Tasted ok but not something I would order again. Reminded of microwave bacon from a box yikes. Prices are super fair and I'll definitely be back. They do offer what looks to be a super tasty pastry when they greet you and I tried to politely decline but the server was definitely taken aback lol read more

Chocolate chip banana bread to share. Delicious! There were some excellent choices for breakfast, it was really hard to decide but I chose the crepes with caramelized bananas. They were sooo good. Crepes were perfect. My friend got the French toast with berries which looked amazing! She loved it. She got a side of bacon which looked like it could have been cooked a little longer but she didn't complain. Our waitress, Jamie, was lovely and spent time with us explaining our options. I so wanted to like this place it has all the elements that one would want when dining. Tuscany café is convenient because it's local, serves a variety of food. the prices seem to be fair, the ambience is great, the service is friendly and it is has a relaxing decor vibe. But it just wasn't meant to be. After navigating the horrendous parking situation I was acknowledge and seated immediately. My server was very nice although she did not give me her name but immediately bought a nice plate of homemade pastries that was very tasty. Of course the La Columbe coffee they severed was delicious. But it was downhill from there the pancakes they serve were like three biscuit frisbees, The bacon was thin sparse and almost translucent meaning mostly fat some cheap brand. The home fries look like a baked potato cut in chunks and thrown on a plate, The scramble eggs we're average nothing negative or positive there. Everything outside of the pancakes were cold, not room temperature, not lukewarm, cold! I had brunch outside with a friend on one of the last warm weekends of the year. Positive statement: They have certainly adjusted to COVID life. I watched the table be fully cleaned before I sat down. Lovely pancakes. The rest: I ordered coffee. I never knew that disposable sugar packets could only have a few grains of turbanado sugar. Okay, they're frugal, I get it. After I get the two grains of sugar in my coffee, I realize there is no way to stir it. I decided to use my knife. After literally adding 8 packets to my coffee (I do not care for sweet coffee), a little tub of cream and stirring it, I realize that they are saving even more money by not adding the appropriate amount of coffee to the brew. Joy. Now I need to get more coffee on the way home to make up for this mess. We placed our order, I ordered the pancakes with fruit and 2 scrambled eggs. They forgot to leave the syrup for the pancakes, so there was a wait to enjoy them fully. There were a bunch of grapes on them, but it was tasty nonetheless. The eggs hosted bonus egg shells, so I had to send them back. My friend has a host of other issues with her meal. Her review would amount to something like 'frugality and oddness do not a good meal make.' She may write a review later. The staff was kind, but inattentive. If anyone wrote a good review, good friends or a lack of taste buds and sensibility must have overshadowed the restaurant itself. read more

Every once in a while, the Reverend and I develop an itch to stray....from our usual breakfast places. When this happens, we consult our Yelp Bookmark feature, and up popped Tuscany Cafe in H-Town. The cafe is a corner shop in an area that has a hodgepodge of auto repair, tailors, an upholstery shop, houses and even an old A & P converted to a gym. It's the kind of development that just kinda happened without much forethought. Parking is not quite in a 'lot', more that you pull up and park nose in all around the building. When you come inside, everything feels newer. There's a counter with a chalkboard menu, a bakery case and some chairs lined up against a 'bar' facing the windows. This part looks like a grab-n-go breakfast coffee counter. Then they bring you into the good sized, roomy, rustic chairs and tables with 'wood' floors (ceramic) and you feel like you're in an upscale-casual place, all browns and wheats with pops of color. We were seated by a window and our drink order promptly taken. They came back with a cup of La Colombe coffee in an oversized cup that the Rev described as "strong" and "very good". Remember, folks, he's not a Chatty Cathy. They also brought out a small plate with tiny slivers of cinnamon cake that was delish. Menu is not deep, they had about 10 or so breakfast items, with the rest of the one page menu being lunch and bakery items. They do the slightly silly "Tuscany Toast" (french toast) type labeling. The Rev got this, which is actually french toast made with Italian bread, and I got the crepes with strawberries. As for breakfast meats OMG they have prosciutto, which is immediately what I ordered. The french toast was "fine', which means it was good in Rev-ese. The problem with the bread choice here is that it tends to be dense and a bit dry, and that's hard to overcome with the egg dip. The crepes were lovely, all the fruit was fresh. Bacon served was delightfully crispy without being burnt, and the prosciutto was served in little rounds and was divine, so good I took the rest home to snack on. Service was friendly, a little uneven but overall fine. I had a hard time with this one because I want to give 4 1/2 stars. Overall very good food, decent service, nice atmosphere. One star off for just OK french toast with the cutesy name. We'll definitely be back, perhaps for lunch to see what that is. Not sure if it's on the regular rotation as there's no SOS and that's usually a requirement (exception made for Mary's which has amazeballs french toast so the Rev doesn't care about no SOS). read more

Post race energy depletion meant I needed some noms, and I always turn to Yelp for reliable advice. My padre was hesitant as always, but of course he caved, and he was very pleased he did. We both went ahead and had prosciutto included in our dishes. He went with the breakfast sandwich, and I the omelette (also with onions and feta). The omelette was incredible. I feel as though restaurants don't normally sauté their onions for flavor first, but Tuscany really pulled through in that regard. The prosciutto was also no super chewy, and we both agreed a great quality meat. The hash browns now.. you can see the chunks of garlic.. I am Italian ladies and gents. I bleed garlic and olive oil. This made me V happy. Atmosphere was cute, quaint, and very welcoming. Minus this strange musty smell I noticed. Only advice would be to fix that up, and possibly more options in the omelette area. I absolutely love the French toast here. My husband loves their omelettes. Dine in or take out they nail it. Parking is decent but I would fight for a space or walk a few miles for their French toast if it weren't. Great family place. Hands down one of the best breakfast spots in the area.
