Lovely morning coffee stop. I had the chance to check out La Colombe during my visit to Philly. Very nice atmosphere, plenty of seatings and staff were very friendly. I ordered the Iced Mocha, which was so delicious. Their coffee was bold and strong, that even with me ordering the mocha, the chocolate did not overpower the coffee taste. I really enjoyed my draft chai and the cinnamon roll/croissant pastry. Staff was very kind and patient as I asked her what she recommended since this was my first time here. Tons of seating and clean. My only gripe is the lack of menu signage. Unless I missed it, the only menu I saw was a paper menu haphazardly placed on top of the merchandise in the queue. Additionally, a sign highlighting the chai draft latte. That's all. It makes it pretty difficult for customers to figure out what is even offered here. La Colombe 's site doesn't have an online menu either. I had to resort to 3rd party sites to find a menu. These don't even include any seasonal drinks that may be available. I usually go to Char & Stave in Ardmore when I'm in town, but they were closing unusually early for New Year's Eve. I try to avoid Starbucks, and La Colombe, which is definitely a fave among many in Philly, seemed to be open until 6. I wanted a few hours to do work. The Bryn Mawr outpost is in a little shopping "village," so there's free parking, which is a plus. It also has high ceilings and lots of tables, including some hightops, which is nice if you want to stand and work. However, it's not really meant for working. I saw only one set of outlets--fortunately, I got the hightop right next to them--and they don't have wi-fi. Obviously, that's a choice, and I understand that they may want to keep tables turning and deter the nearby student laptop crowd. I was, however, able to hop onto a nearby public network (and one can always hotspot). But I wouldn't come here to study for an extended period of time without a long-lasting laptop. My mocha was fine--better than Starbucks, though nothing special. I didn't get strong coffee notes in it. The latte art was pretty rushed. Now not everybody is a pro with design--and I don't expect them to be--but under the circumstances, it reinforced my overall sense that this is more of a corporate coffee spot with a staff that is just cranking things out. (Heck, Starbucks doesn't even try, and I appreciated real cups if you're staying to drink there.) There was certainly efficiency and a certain by-rote pleasantness, but nobody behind the counter seemed genuinely excited to be doing what they were doing. For example, people rarely smiled. Who knows--maybe with New Year's Eve they just wanted to be off and on a different day, it would be a completely different story. I have not been to this location for quite a while because I am not a huge fan of La Colombe coffee. However, this morning I had an hour to fill between a doctor's appointment and a lunch date with a friend, so I stopped in to get a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant. The cappuccino was just OK. The croissant was a total waste of money. It was dry and perhaps a day old and tasted like cardboard. The café was crowded, so I had to sit in a corner by two glass walls and it was freezing cold, with drafts coming through on all sides, although to be fair, it was only about 25° outside. I drank most of the coffee and threw away the croissant before I went to meet my friend for lunch. I won't bother to go back to this place again. read more

Sad this is the only real place you can give feedback easy to a coffee shop. They usually want customer feedback but are rarely ever listening to the customers actual problems. I've been coming to this location for years and it's disappointing with all the transitions that have happened that this shop let their best employee fall through the cracks. Total ace and always so friendly and helpful with everything from coffee to regulars to holding the door, etc. He's not the only one who you can see the change has impacted. The afternoon staff seems uninterested in anything anymore as well. Why would you not use your best resources to keep your company afloat instead of burning your best employees until they want to quit? read more

I was with a couple of family members visiting from Boston and we decided to drive to Bryn and Dane's for breakfast. However, Bryn and Dane's was closed for Easter so we headed to La Colombe Coffee for breakfast. First, when coming in I found the restaurant to be very disorganized. There was no formal line and the cashier was multitasking. There was a real chaotic feel throughout the restaurant. While my family members went ahead and ordered their drinks, I picked up an orange juice. I also ordered a hot chocolate. While placing my order, I was interested in getting a bite to eat as well, but the variety of food was very limited. There were only a few limited bakery items and some pre-made salads. Starbucks has much better food options. La Colombe should definitely improve in this area. While I was disappointed in the food options at La Colombe, I was fairly satisfied with the drinks. The orange juice that I had was very fresh and had a nice sweet taste. The orange juice wasn't made in house, but rather by the Liquiteria. However, I was find because the product was very good. I also found the hot chocolate to be very tasty as there was a nice creamy texture and a distinct chocolate taste. I wish La Colombe offered a choice of whipped cream on top of the hot chocolate. Also, I didn't find the staff to be the best at La Colombe. While they did their job they were not the friendliest or most personable. There is plenty of seating inside this La Colombe and a couple of tables and spots to eat outside. Altogether, this La Colombe offers some tasty drinks in a nice environment, but they need to improve in the areas of actual food and the friendliness of their staff. read more

The tables and floor need to be cleaned and there were 3 dogs in the restaurant this morning which is against PA law-the staff refused to do anything about the dogs. Service was slow. Walking into this place it's was pretty packed (Saturday around 11am) waited in line for a good few mins but the barista's made sure to keep it moving, asked everyone what they would like ahead of time. I ordered a small cappuccino and the total came to 3.75. I thought that was a decent price. It was really nice watching the barista make my drink. I was actually really amazed on how quick he was going and he had so many orders just told to him so he was going off of memory. Sadly because it was prettt crowded there were no tables available except a bench with a tiny table...so alittle uncomfortable but not the worst thing in the world. I was really wishing for some art on my drink but I'm guessing it was because of how busy they were. The taste of my drink was actually very nice and pleasant. Rich and the right amount of creamy, you can tell they're using good beans for their espresso. It only took me about 6 or 7 mins to finish because again it was a small, but also the fact that I couldn't stop sipping. The customer service was very friendly and definitely efficient. i don't know why this la colombe location is so lowly rated, but it has been a great experience for me each and every time! i used to go to undergrad at villanova and came here really often by myself or with friends, and their coffee, staff, pastries, and space has not failed me ONCE. my absolute favorite is the almond croissant: it has this delicious light custard filling in the middle and the outside is always flaky and covered in almond goodness. a STAPLE spot. read more

Awful. This WAS my absolute favorite place to get coffee. Not sure why they can't train baristas! I ordered a flat white and no one behind the counter knew what is it or how to make it. BUT they just kept telling me it was coming up - it's an open kitchen so I could see no one was making it. Everyone else's espresso, cappuccinos etc were made promptly. FINALLY because 15 minutes later (and there was no line) w no coffee I was now running late. I asked for a decaf instead. They poured me a small one in a HUFF. Huh. I could've sworn that a flat white and a small decaf are NOT priced the same. Starbucks makes a pretty good flat white. We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a cup of coffee. We were able to find a table almost immediately even though the place was quite busy. I ordered a regular cup of coffee, and it was served in a very beautiful mug. After I sat down and opened my laptop, I realized that there was no WiFi! When I looked around for a outlet, I realized that only two of the seats in the back had access to an outlet. I was still able to get some work down with my phone's hotspot before my laptop died. The coffee was great, and refills are only $.75. After getting finishing my second cup, I found the restroom in the back corner. The bathroom did not have have latch lock, just the push button lock attached to the handle. I made sure I locked my door, and checked twice. However, another customer was able to pull it open with a bit of force while I was still in the restroom. I would suggest someone to watch the door from the outside or for them to add an additional lock. Other than that, the place is perfect for a quick coffee break. read more

Great La Colombe location! I came here during an afternoon on a weekday and had no trouble finding parking in the village lot. The shop itself is industrial and well decorated, with all the staple menu items like the draft lattes. The inside had a good amount of seating, but I would have liked to see more seats with tables as well as more comfortable chairs. However, I was able to get a table by the window which I enjoyed. It was a great place to get some work done, but like the other La Colombe locations, they do not have wifi that you can connect to. In terms of drinks, I just got a cup of their dark roast drip coffee. As per usual, their coffee was delicious and it came in a beautiful cup. I always enjoy La Colombe coffee! I absolutely love the scenery and vibe of La Colombe Coffee. It not only serves the ONLY Oat milk Draft Latte, they also serve phenomenal Pour over single origin coffees. One of my favorites happens to currently be one of their Natural Ethiopian's. Every La Colombe coffee I have ever been in, always caters to the young working class, with wonderful appetizers and pastries, take home bags of freshly roasted coffee, and wonderful relaxing vibe to work at. Pros: many coffee drinks to choose from and all are delicious; phenomenal pastry selection (croissants, danish, all great but they go fast); great selection of whole bean coffee blends freshly roasted and ground to your specification; very friendly staff; lots of outside seating; oat milk!! Cons: they don't routinely empty trash so it's always overflowing and attracting bees and other pests and vermin; tables aren't wiped down frequently and are generally filthy after the initial morning rush; they are the only business in town who still has not reopened their restrooms; coffee is a natural diuretic so that makes for a challenging situation. read more

I grew up in the area and love how easily accessible this coffee is when I come home for a visit from San Diego. Living on the west coast, it's slowly becoming more well known and when I do find those brewing it's at notable locations like the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, the Graduate Hotel in Tempe AZ or their tiny pop up stand at the UTC Village mall in La Jolla where I always make a pit shop during a shopping outing. Strictly based on their geographical location - these guys are going to nab quite a few nit picky reviews surprisingly falling just under 4 stars currently - mostly because I don't think everyone here knows a great cup of coffee even if it's sitting right under their nose. Sitting in an area of the Mainline surrounded by Starbucks and really lacking a stellar local joint, La Colombe is just about as good as it's gets from a company that started small and has become a "corporate giant". I hate to use that term because it sounds like we are comparing them to Starbucks which is not even in the same league as them. I'll just say this: Read their story, see how this company was founded and the things they do for the world - sustainably sourcing, participants in ethical trading and helped run by a CEO who has decades of passion for social and ecological change. My only objection at this location is their choice of non dairy options. You guys use the OAT-LY! brand which is a huge high five but fall short on the choice to use Pacific as your Almond Milk brand, it's horrible - you can do better. Oh, and the biscotti's yesterday, pretty sure I almost broke my tooth biting into one. A lot of reviews here complaining about prices and lack of food options but to me it's plain and simple; La Colombe makes a great clean cup of coffee, that's what I'm here for.
