My go-to if you want a fun coffee/ tea/ smoothie! I come here for the hall and oats latte (honey and vanilla syrup, with oat milk). They have so many seasonal drinks you will always be able to switch it up, too. It's not my favorite drip coffee, but I am not looking for that when I come here. Also, Hanks cinnamon buns. They are a little slow, and a little pricey (hence 4 stars) So just bear that in mind if you are in a rush. read more

My introduction to Valerio Coffee Roasters came from using the surplus food app. This is one of the few businesses that impressed me all around. The area is a little hard to manage when it comes to parking but I lucked out today. This is a place worth working to find a spot. The staff is super helpful to everyone that enters. I didn't get the impression they were offering me any special treatment the staff was just two energetic people working in the service industry. As for ambiance, Outside they have a few two seat bistro style tables away from the curb. You wouldn't feel like you were in danger. Inside the decor is modern like a semi-bohemian coffee shop. The current seating is spaced out but enough for 3-4 parties of 4 during Covid. It's crisp and clean. At the time a few people were on laptops sipping tea or coffee. As for the experience, the staff was friendly, upbeat and informative about the products. We had tasty chicken salad and croissants with a delicious and fragrant tea I believed it was hibiscus and ??? I just know it was good! I think this is my favorite coffee shop in the area. I will say it's not really a sit-down place. There is rarely any room in that shop, even when I've gone in the middle of the day. However, the folks are super nice and their specialty menu really sets them apart. In my mind, I can always make a cup of coffee at home or order it from a chain. When I go to a local coffee shop, I want them to be doing things that are new, fun, and interesting. I think they are the ones in the area making that happen. read more

I've had coffee here once - the espresso was a bit bitter compared to their across the street neighbor, but I try to be supportive of all local coffee shops and think this one is just fine. I was actually going to stop in today on my walk, but was blasted by their super prominent Christmas decorations commanding the public to "spread Christmas cheer." Look, if you want to put up a wreath or something go ahead. But a proselytizing message completely turned me off. We aren't all Christians -- and felt these particular holiday decorations were more exclusionary than most. Either stick to happy holidays, or just put up a tree without the explicit command to spread Christianity. Thanks. read more

I used to go here often, before and after COVID. They've been hit or miss over time but during COVID it's just been complete misses. Last time I went and I waited 10 minutes for a black iced coffee with an aftertaste of vodka. You'd think that time spent waiting was because of the volume of orders they had. You'd be wrong. They had two other people there waiting for orders. This time I ordered something simple, a coffee with milk/sugar and a bagel with cream cheese. Somehow both items were wrong, AND I got to enjoy a long wait in the empty café. I got a black coffee and a bagel with butter, even after asking the man in the back why they were sorting bacon into bins instead of finishing the bagel that's been sitting outside the toaster for 10 minutes. That's the last time I give them a chance, Ironworks or Pilgrim deserve your money way more. read more

Awesome breakfast spot in Manayunk! I came here with my boyfriend for breakfast on a Saturday. We ordered a latte with almond milk, coffee, a bagel sandwich, and a slice of vegan zucchini bread. The bread and latte were delicious! My boyfriend enjoyed his food as well. The space is well decorated. When the bar isn't open in the back you can sit it any of the tables in the space. The front half of the building is the coffee, tea, and breakfast serving area and if you walk to the back that is where the bar is - Bald Birds Brewing Company! I came here in the morning for coffee but will definitely have to come back later for some beer! They have an assortment of board games you can play while you sit back and enjoy a drink. The vibe is really nice, relaxed, and the music gives a great ambiance! 80's Classics have been playing this morning! I can't speak to the quality of the coffee or pastries because they won't serve coffee in a personal cup. And even though it's got tables to sit down, they also only use disposable cups for dine in service. An environmental disaster that they attribute to Covid, but many other cafes in Philadelphia can do it. If even a monolith like Starbucks can manage it ( and they give a discount for a personal cup), it's certainly safe and legal. read more

Some of the photos on here are misleading. There are a few pictures on other reviews that make it look like this place is huge when it's really small. They have about 6 tables with seating for 12. The last time I tried coming there was a line out the door and I didn't want to wait. Today was much less crowded. The music was a little loud so if you're trying to get work done, not the best option. I like that they have the high top tables by the windows but only one of them has a shade so it gets pretty hot after while sitting at the one that doesn't have a shade. The metal chairs beg for cushion or something for comfort. What this place lacks in ambiance it makes up for with excellent drinks. I had the Hall & Oats and it's probably one of the best lattes I've had in weeks. $5 for a 12oz is reasonable for the area. The only other downside is the hours. They closed at 2:30 on a Friday with kind of no heads-up or warning. So me and a few other people were working and were asked to leave at like 2:27. Not their fault I guess that we didn't know the time they closed but wished they would have told us sooner than 3 mins before they locked up. They have outside seating but they don't let you sit outside either once they're closed because they lock up the tables and chairs. I would come back for the drinks for sure ... and take it elsewhere for better ambiance. read more

My fiancé Rory and I stopped by their Manayunk cafe early on a Saturday morning and were immediately greeted with warmth and kindness. Although their location here is on the smaller side, it still felt spacious with lots of customers in it. We decided on two bagels which were well prepared and delicious. Rory got a cafe mocha and I got a chai tea latte. Both were really, really good. So good that Rory decided to pick up a bag of their whole bean coffee to bring home!
