    Tandoori Chicken

I'm so glad we decided to try The Dandelion! It appears to be located in an old brownstone. The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere with dining rooms, hardwood floors, and fireplaces that reminds you of an old home. We didn't have a reservation, but luckily we were seated right away. We started with the Billingsgate crab croquettes, which were seasoned well and served fresh with a delicious lemon and paprika sauce. My only complaint was that there were only four and they were so good I wanted more! For my entrée, I ordered the tandoori chicken, and it was amazing! The portion was generous, the chicken was very tender, the rice was fluffy, and the cucumber yogurt brought everything together. Overall, the food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was inviting. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back!

This was one of my favorite dining experiences in Philly. Set in a charming historic building, it has all the cozy gastropub vibes you'd hope for. I went for a work dinner, and it was the perfect mix of business-friendly and uniquely Philly. The service was excellent, and my artichoke risotto was delicious. Overall, the food was a solid 4.5/5. I'd definitely come back on my next visit!

We were visiting philly for the weekend and wanted to grab dinner at a spot in the area. We grabbed a reservation a few hours in advance and were seated right away as we entered. Service was very friendly and not too overbearing with just a few check-ins here and there. We got the fish and chips, trout, salmon, and steak. I liked everything overall but my favorite was actually the steak. Good flavors across the board and the greens that came with it was a nice touch. The fish and chips were pretty good too - among the better ones Inhave tried. Cute spot with nice decorations. Would be great for a date or small groups. If I happened to be in the area, I'd be interested in grabbing a seat at the bar next time.

This place is SO neat! The vibe is relaxed but also elegant. There is an air of an old speakeasy or club throughout the place. We were warmly greeted and seated. The waiter was funny and engaging without being too overly zealous. Our food was excellent. I had the Deviled Eggs which were AMAZING! Perfect portion and creamy filling makes it extravagant: The welsh rarebit reminded us of a beer pretzel, but if it were sourdough. My risotto was unbelievable. Super rich and creamy- felt more like artichoke dip- I would have liked some bread or something to scoop it up. A neat place in Philly to grab a bite, hang with friends!

We came here for brunch Saturday 4.18.26 prior to seeing Philadanco at the Kimmel. Excellent service was provided by Gabrielle. Food overall was good. Atmosphere is cute. We were unfortunately seated next to a table of 8-10 college age girls who made zero attempt at not being loud. I had asked for a cozy corner spot on the reservation. It would have been nice to be seated in the front of the room past the doors on the second floor where one other small party was seated. There was no one else in that separated room and we were plunked next to an obnoxiously loud party. Oh well. I tried. Food was overall good. Cocktails were great especially the Cherry-O. What we ordered- Here Comes The Sun Cocktail Cherry-O Cocktail Billingsgate Crab Croquettes Pickled Beetroot Welsh Rarebit 2 Fish & Chips I was so looking forward to the Welsh Rarebit but was terribly disappointed. It was not served warm and bubbly. The topping was coagulated. It didn't look the right color either. Very strange. I thought maybe they just do it differently here. I came here to see other pics of the Rarebit. The other pics look normal to me and unlike what we were served. Minus one star for disappointing Rarebit and obnoxious seating.

My favorite restaurant in the city! Food is always on point!!! Went last night and had oysters, scallops in a malt vinegar burre blanc with bacon lardons and smoked cod on a potato rosti with salmon roe, and always a must when at the dandelion the chicken and duck liver parfait!!! Highly recommend all of that! Bella was our sever and she was amazing, attentive and knowledgeable! We sat outside on the sidewalk and enjoyed some local music being played! Can't wait to be back!

Some new items on the menu so I figured I would go through a new review: Carrot Soup: This replaces their old root vegetable soup, and they thankfully kept it vegetarian. It was much better than their root vegetable soup, and I was quite fond of that soup. It's honestly nothing like anything else on the menu. It has an indian? maybe? taste to it. It's so good. there is these juicy white raisins inside, some sliced almonds (not treenut friendly), and some sort of white yogurt sauce with micro greens. really a fantastic flavor pallet and the actual soup texture is smooth minus the toppings. Cashew Hummus: okay so here's my thing. I find that this restaurant in particular does such a disservice with their menu item descriptions. Based off of the description of this dish, I would think it's probably decent at best, and might not even order it. luckily I had a sixth sense to know this would be amazing. it's truly so good. it's a hummus layer topped with a bunch of seasoned roasted vegetables and chickpeas. The flavors are great and the textures are also great. I wouldn't have known it was cashew hummus if you didn't tell me. it's honestly not that large, so if you really like vegtables and hummus i'd get your own or split with only one person. if everyone is demure, it could go four ways. also! I don't think it comes with bread. it didn't come with bread this recent visit, but I am not sure if that was a mistake or that's how it is. But, to be safe, i'd save your bread you get at the begining to use for this. this is a must get every time I go. Dandelion salad: I only order this for my welsh rarebit. I like to eat my welsh rarebit with some of the salad since the acid cuts the fatty cheese. but, I will say, it's a very good salad. my favorite part is the thinly sliced celery pieces. it has a bunch of varying greens, celery, avocado, cucumber. all dressed in a lemony dressing. it's very simplistic and that's why I think it's so good. it's quite large, and would be a great "for the table" order so that everyone has some fresh bites with their rich entrees. Welsh Rarebit: my favorite. if you don't know what welsh rarebit is, it's basically fancy cheese toast. think proper fondue cheese with Worcestershire, mustard, maybe guinness, melted on a thick piece of toast. so an open faced fancy grilled cheese. it's two big slices of toast. could easily be shared for the table but I prefer my own order. if you get this I recommend also getting the dandelion salad and eating them together. Chocolate Set: I haven't tried their other desserts, but I just know they are a waste of time compared to this. the chocolate set is a dense chocolate mousse with earl gray ice cream, chocolate nibs, and a few orange slices. it's so simple but so so good. texturally, amazing. the smoothness of the mousse with the crunchy nibs is the perfect contrast. the orange is bright, the ice cream is just great on its own and does so well paired with everything else. it can be shared 4 ways if you have demure people. my family of four just orders two and we get half each. that works for us, we would never be able to share one. all in all great service as always, great food, and obviously a gorgeous interior.

The ambiance here looked really great online so we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint! The place is very unique & cozy. We sat at the bar while we waited for our reservation time. I had the peachy drink & we had the cheeseboard & it was great. We sat upstairs for dinner and it was the "dog room", which was unique & really neat. The staff were great & the food was all great! We ordered the crab salad, Caesar salad, fish & chips, rabbit pie, & burger. All items were really great. I didn't try the rabbit pie but my friend said it was creamy, tender & tasty.

Excellent restaurant! One of the best we have found in Rittenhouse square! The menu is very eclectic yet has something for whatever you're feeling that day: the double fried chips (fries) are tasty; cod is well seasoned and fried well; bangers and mash had excellent flavor; and the Mussels were really well flavored: the crab croquettes would probably be better with more of a lump Crab but still were enjoyed, well Fried and the dipping sauce that came with it was purely divine! we enjoyed the here comes the sun drinks too!! Would definitely recommend ordering any of these and I'd love to go back and try more! The complimentary bread basket for sure is a winner!

    Bread Pudding

The sticky toffee pudding was so good! I am not sure if they serve it with an ice cream or gelato - tasted more like a zesty gelato than vanilla ice cream but I am not complaining. Have been wanting to try it since forever. Nothing like going on a random weekday, sitting at the bar and not having to share your dessert with anyone haha. I am so happy that they have it available all day!

I'll give it 4 stars because the first time I came here the experience was phenomenal. This time it needed improvement but due to the holidays I assume this isn't their regular staff and I'll time them the benefit of the doubt. Pros: The atmosphere is so lovely and feels like you're truly in the UK. Food is delicious, menu is great, and feels really authentic. Cons: The waiter took a long while to take our orders and then he forgot about my drink and it wasn't until the food came that I had to remind him. It seems like it was poured a while ago since the foam was already mostly gone. He should've asked for it to be poured again. We had to ask for spoons for our pies since the forks kept causing a mess. This affected the dining experience and caused frustration. A shame considering I was hyping this place up to my party but hopefully next time is a better experience. The food is worth it.

Solid 4 stars for The Dandelion, one of Philadelphia's best English gastropubs! The food here is absolutely incredible--their fish and chips is the best in the city, crispy and fresh, and the classic British comfort food is always on point. The vibe is cozy and authentic, with no TVs, just a warm, welcoming pub atmosphere, and it's open until midnight, which is perfect for late nights in Rittenhouse. My only small gripes: it gets extremely busy, especially on weekends, so you'll need a reservation or be prepared for a long wait. Also, the prices are a bit on the higher side, so it's more of a special occasion spot than a casual weeknight meal. Overall, it's still my go-to gastropub in Philadelphia, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic English pub experience. Just make a reservation ahead of time!

Literally the cutest English pub. We made reservations to do brunch here on our first day in the city and so glad we did. This multi-level pub feels like home with how well furnished and decorated it is, with eclectic seating areas that bring in so many people everyday you will WANT to make that reservation (I did overhear them state they were too busy at the moment to get someone seated as a walk in and the wait would take some time, so do yourself that favor) Our server Christopher was an absolute gem and very attentive to our needs! I went with an high crown coffee I believe it was called? Essentially an Irish coffee but the hair of the dog really helped out after a late night! We started with the crab croquettes which were very tasty, the mayo with saffron was a bit heavy on the saffron for our taste but just a Dab was enough. I went with the brioche French toast and it was thick and very tasty! Overall we loved the space, the service and our meals. Can't ask for much else!

The first thing I did was head straight for my favorite, Cantillon from Belgium. This visit, I tried their Kriek LG, a fruited lambic made by adding sour cherries to a two-year-old aged lambic. All I can say is... WOW! Tart, complex, refreshing, and dangerously drinkable. If beer could win an Academy Award, this one would be giving an acceptance speech. Now, let's talk food. I ordered the Thai Curry Mussels, and they were absolutely outstanding. The broth was packed with flavor, and the mussels were cooked perfectly. They easily rank in the top five mussel dishes I've ever had, and I've done my research! Pro tip: Don't make the rookie mistake of eating all the bread first. Save some for the end so you can soak up every last drop of that incredible curry broth at the bottom of the bowl. Trust me, you'll thank me later. The service is always excellent. John usually takes care of us in the back, and he consistently makes the experience even better with great recommendations and friendly service. In side is cozy and friendly! In the era of COVID, ghost kitchens remain a safe and affordable option and a huge treat for us foodies. Operating out of The Twisted Tail in Headhouse Square, What's the Catch promises authentic British staples. Intrigued, to say the least, my partner and I stopped by on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch. We opted for the Cod with the Traditional Beer Batter, and the Haddock with Lemon and Parsley Batter. For sides, we went with the Twice Cooked Chips and the Garlic Parmesan Chips. Each platter comes with a Tartar Sauce, so we added on Malt Vinegar Mayo, Spicy Mayo, and Curry Sauce. Within 15 minutes of placing our order, my phone buzzed -- ready for pickup! We scoped out a spot in Headhouse Square to enjoy the rare day of pleasant weather before digging in. The food was delightful. The batters both sported a fluffy and flavorful crisp. While you couldn't go wrong either way, I personally preferred the complementary flavors of Lemon and Parsley. Neither fish was overtly fishy, but cod filet felt sturdier, whereas the haddock was flakier. For the chips, I don't necessarily think the Garlic Parm was worth the upgrade -- mostly because the standard fries option was already stellar. Wedge-style with a crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with a tasteful portion of finishing salt, these fries rival any others in the city. The standout sauce in my book was the Malt Vinegar Mayo, an homage to the staple condiment in Britain. Immediately reminding me of London, this sauce perfectly complemented both the fish and the chips. The Curry Sauce was also tasty and surprisingly large (can't believe I'm saying this, but I almost wished they offered a smaller option of it!). Otherwise, the Tartar was fairly standard, while the Spicy Mayo was nothing to write home about. The prices are fortunately very reasonable: the $13 "Regular"-sized fish platter had a single, satisfyingly large, filet and a generous helping of fries. With a great combination of flavor, novelty, and price. What's the Catch skyrockets toward the top of the (relatively short) list of Philly chippies. While I question how well the fried options would hold up to delivery, I would definitely swing by again for takeout if in the neighborhood.

upscale moody bar, decent happy hour, but otherwise mediocre restaurant…read more conveniently located in center city, harp and crown is surrounded by restaurants i personally think are better. the large space, the dim lighting, and the elegant decor do make harp and crown a good spot for a date, a work outing, or a business lunch/dinner. i think that the bar is decent for an upscale bar, and the downstairs are moody and have a fun bowling alley. definitely a one of a kind event space. the happy hour is decent with a whole pizza for $8, but the rotating specialty is hit or miss. the meatballs and the mac and cheese are both fairly small, and the cheeseburger is one of the saddest cheeseburgers i've eaten at a restaurant. not pictured, but i've also been for the brunch buffet, which was fun the first time but i wouldn't go again. $38 per person for food isn't cheap, and the options were fairly basic. the brunch is a good option for larger group outings with friends or family. overall, harp and crown is a safe option for food but the bites are rather lackluster. i'm sure I'll be back again just because of its convenient location.
