    Crab salad

The ambiance here looked really great online so we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint! The place is very unique & cozy. We sat at the bar while we waited for our reservation time. I had the peachy drink & we had the cheeseboard & it was great. We sat upstairs for dinner and it was the "dog room", which was unique & really neat. The staff were great & the food was all great! We ordered the crab salad, Caesar salad, fish & chips, rabbit pie, & burger. All items were really great. I didn't try the rabbit pie but my friend said it was creamy, tender & tasty.

The sticky toffee pudding was so good! I am not sure if they serve it with an ice cream or gelato - tasted more like a zesty gelato than vanilla ice cream but I am not complaining. Have been wanting to try it since forever. Nothing like going on a random weekday, sitting at the bar and not having to share your dessert with anyone haha. I am so happy that they have it available all day!

Solid 4 stars for The Dandelion, one of Philadelphia's best English gastropubs! The food here is absolutely incredible--their fish and chips is the best in the city, crispy and fresh, and the classic British comfort food is always on point. The vibe is cozy and authentic, with no TVs, just a warm, welcoming pub atmosphere, and it's open until midnight, which is perfect for late nights in Rittenhouse. My only small gripes: it gets extremely busy, especially on weekends, so you'll need a reservation or be prepared for a long wait. Also, the prices are a bit on the higher side, so it's more of a special occasion spot than a casual weeknight meal. Overall, it's still my go-to gastropub in Philadelphia, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic English pub experience. Just make a reservation ahead of time!

Excellent restaurant! One of the best we have found in Rittenhouse square! The menu is very eclectic yet has something for whatever you're feeling that day: the double fried chips (fries) are tasty; cod is well seasoned and fried well; bangers and mash had excellent flavor; and the Mussels were really well flavored: the crab croquettes would probably be better with more of a lump Crab but still were enjoyed, well Fried and the dipping sauce that came with it was purely divine! we enjoyed the here comes the sun drinks too!! Would definitely recommend ordering any of these and I'd love to go back and try more! The complimentary bread basket for sure is a winner!

I'll give it 4 stars because the first time I came here the experience was phenomenal. This time it needed improvement but due to the holidays I assume this isn't their regular staff and I'll time them the benefit of the doubt. Pros: The atmosphere is so lovely and feels like you're truly in the UK. Food is delicious, menu is great, and feels really authentic. Cons: The waiter took a long while to take our orders and then he forgot about my drink and it wasn't until the food came that I had to remind him. It seems like it was poured a while ago since the foam was already mostly gone. He should've asked for it to be poured again. We had to ask for spoons for our pies since the forks kept causing a mess. This affected the dining experience and caused frustration. A shame considering I was hyping this place up to my party but hopefully next time is a better experience. The food is worth it.

I loved this British pub. All of the staff were so kind and food was yummy. My friend enjoyed her raw trout and I really liked the ricotta and bread. If you are looking for a good upscale brunch/lunch place then The Dandelion is for you! 10/10 would come back.

Literally the cutest English pub. We made reservations to do brunch here on our first day in the city and so glad we did. This multi-level pub feels like home with how well furnished and decorated it is, with eclectic seating areas that bring in so many people everyday you will WANT to make that reservation (I did overhear them state they were too busy at the moment to get someone seated as a walk in and the wait would take some time, so do yourself that favor) Our server Christopher was an absolute gem and very attentive to our needs! I went with an high crown coffee I believe it was called? Essentially an Irish coffee but the hair of the dog really helped out after a late night! We started with the crab croquettes which were very tasty, the mayo with saffron was a bit heavy on the saffron for our taste but just a Dab was enough. I went with the brioche French toast and it was thick and very tasty! Overall we loved the space, the service and our meals. Can't ask for much else!

We stopped in for lunch at The Dandelion on Thursday, December 4, 2025. I'd been meaning to visit for a few years, and I'm so glad we finally did. The space is designed as a classic old-English pub, and it absolutely delivers on the atmosphere. Without fail, they even had hand-pumped beer, poured properly just like a traditional English pub -- a great touch that adds to the authenticity. We enjoyed the chilled shrimp and curry-flavored deviled eggs, both of which were outstanding. The vibe was fantastic, with a lively lunch crowd that really brought the place to life. Definitely a great place to stop in for lunch, dinner or happy hour!

This place has been on my Philly list for a while and on my fourth visit to the city this year, I finally checked it out. The English pub ambiance is nice and I loved their decor. Sat at the bar which was pretty busy. They have a coat rack towards the back but it was predictably full on a chilly night. Service was quick and friendly. Ordered an IPA and the Dandy Burger. Burger was a little more medium-rare than medium which is better than going the opposite direction. The fries, despite looking amazing, were disappointing. I don't know if they needed more salt or just to be double fried instead of triple, but they were a bummer. Overall, I enjoyed the visit and would come back again to try some of their other menu items and check out the dining area.

The brioche French toast was really good. I appreciated the thickness of the bread and the tastiness of the vanilla crème chantilly. Very moist! My friend said the fish and chips were delicious. The ambiance is cute, gives old-fashioned & cozy vibes. Makes you feel like you're in someone's 1800s British home. We didn't have to wait long for our food, which was a plus.

We came here for a late-night dinner (10pm) after a show at the Miller's--this spot was highly rated and recommended for late-night eats, and wow... it did not disappoint! First, can we talk buttahhhh? Perfectly salted, melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and I swear it had to be made in-house. Paired with the warm sourdough bread (to dyyyyyy for), I had to be reminded by my husband not to fill up before the meal even started. For apps, we ordered the steak tartare and chicken liver parfait--both rich and flavorful. For the main, we shared the steak and chips, which was definitely the right call. To balance it out, we added the summer veggies, and they ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal: crunchy corn, sweet snap peas, all perfectly seasoned and so fresh. The only downside was the very drunk and loud table right next to us, which made it hard to enjoy our meal. We ended up skipping dessert and leaving a bit early. But honestly, the food itself was excellent and I'd absolutely come back. The service was also impeccable.

Popped in for a pre dinner drink and snack. Able to sit outside and have our fur baby join in. Service was quick and kind. Food was delish, highly recommend the whipped ricotta.

A proper pub in the heart of Rittenhouse Square. Such a beautiful exterior that is only outmatched by the stunning interior. I loved all the ornate woodworking and kitschy decor. We sat at the bar and enjoyed oysters, bangers and mash, and a side of fries -- just as a "little snack". Service was fast and friendly. They have cask beer here which is pretty cool if you're into that. I don't remember if I saw Guinness on tap, which surprised me, but maybe I just missed it or they were out. I would return for more of a proper meal. They have a bunch of different menus including brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner so you could easily pop in anytime they're open and have a delicious experience.

In the era of COVID, ghost kitchens remain a safe and affordable option and a huge treat for us foodies. Operating out of The Twisted Tail in Headhouse Square, What's the Catch promises authentic British staples. Intrigued, to say the least, my partner and I stopped by on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch. We opted for the Cod with the Traditional Beer Batter, and the Haddock with Lemon and Parsley Batter. For sides, we went with the Twice Cooked Chips and the Garlic Parmesan Chips. Each platter comes with a Tartar Sauce, so we added on Malt Vinegar Mayo, Spicy Mayo, and Curry Sauce. Within 15 minutes of placing our order, my phone buzzed -- ready for pickup! We scoped out a spot in Headhouse Square to enjoy the rare day of pleasant weather before digging in. The food was delightful. The batters both sported a fluffy and flavorful crisp. While you couldn't go wrong either way, I personally preferred the complementary flavors of Lemon and Parsley. Neither fish was overtly fishy, but cod filet felt sturdier, whereas the haddock was flakier. For the chips, I don't necessarily think the Garlic Parm was worth the upgrade -- mostly because the standard fries option was already stellar. Wedge-style with a crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with a tasteful portion of finishing salt, these fries rival any others in the city. The standout sauce in my book was the Malt Vinegar Mayo, an homage to the staple condiment in Britain. Immediately reminding me of London, this sauce perfectly complemented both the fish and the chips. The Curry Sauce was also tasty and surprisingly large (can't believe I'm saying this, but I almost wished they offered a smaller option of it!). Otherwise, the Tartar was fairly standard, while the Spicy Mayo was nothing to write home about. The prices are fortunately very reasonable: the $13 "Regular"-sized fish platter had a single, satisfyingly large, filet and a generous helping of fries. With a great combination of flavor, novelty, and price. What's the Catch skyrockets toward the top of the (relatively short) list of Philly chippies. While I question how well the fried options would hold up to delivery, I would definitely swing by again for takeout if in the neighborhood.
