The Mulberry is a nice, popular spot in Center City/Rittenhouse area. There are many tables, and it's not too difficult to get a reservation. You should definitely have one on the weekends though, cause it is really popular! We arrived 5 minutes prior to our reservation and the hostess seemed really taken aback because we were "so early our table wasn't ready". My partner and I looked at each other confused, but said we didn't mind waiting. We were sat within two minutes so it was just a strange opener. Our server was kind, but service itself was a bit slow. Given how busy it was, and an event going on it made sense. In order to make up for the wait they served complimentary deviled eggs, which was a nice gesture, but unfortunately wasted as it wasn't either of our taste. The actual food we ordered was tasty despite the wait! We really enjoyed the skillet mac and cheese app. The steak frites were tasty as well. We're looking forward to coming back to get more mac and cheese and try some other items. read more

The restaurant is packed with people, understandable for Phillies first game of the season but there's only 2-3 server on the entire floor. We ordered pizza and the mac and cheese and was a little disappointed. Took 25-30 minutes for the food to come out, we assumed the pizza was ready for quite sometimes and no staff was able to bring it out to us. Haven't been here in probably a year or so, but stopped in for happy hour a could of weeks ago. The ambiance and vibe is still there - a combo of elevated and casual with the feeling of your normal local bar. Mood/dim lighting came on at one point while we were there giving an intimate vibe, but energy of everyone in there helps you know you are in a pub - which I like. We got there just in time to get a couple seats at the bar, because shortly after the rush of people getting off work happened. We ordered a couple of apps to share - Jerk Marinated Wings in Cilantro Lime and the Fried RI Calamari. The wings were pretty good with the cilantro lime giving a nice and different taste to it. The calamari was ok with the romesco sauce and cherry pepper relish giving it a kick and taste outside of the normal marinara most places give, but wished it was crispier/fried a bit more to give a little more crunch to the bite. The drinks were great! I got the Cocktail of the Week for my first round which was a Cranberry Moscow Mule. But the star drink for me was "IT'S BOO-TIFUL". The moment I took a sip of the drink it felt like I was taken to someone's private beach. It was mixed so well with no overpowering taste of alcohol, but could tell it was strong afterwards . Late Night Win in Center City Philly. Dropped into Mulberry's around 1am after some bar hopping and wow--what a find. Place was packed with Chelsea fans after the FIFA Club game, but the vibe was chill and the staff still super friendly and fast. Open until 2am with food (yes, real food--not just fries and wings). We had an old fashioned and an espresso martini, both solid. The pizza hit the spot and those truffle fries? And where else are you getting deviled eggs at 1am at a bar? Nowhere. We literally came to The Mulberry since two other places were unavailable or too busy, so it was literally a last resort since we were hungry and soaked from the rain. The menu was not too impressive and we struggled to even want anything. I was personally just eating for survival. There were some items we wanted that they ran out of, so that was pointless. Starting off my coworkers had the Chips and Guac ($8) and a Classic Pizza ($16). I had the Avocado Toast ($12). It was bland, not filling, and just for survival. We tried a few rounds of a bunch of things from their menu including the Champagne Mule ($14), French Gimlet ($15), Sauvignon Blanc ($12/glass), Sangria ($10/glass), Electric Margarita ($16), Jameson Orange ($11). Later on I smelled brussels, which my coworkers originally wanted so I asked them, and they restocked. So I ordered some Brussel Sprouts ($6) and Fries ($8) to share. Service was a bit lacking for my taste. We started off at the tables and got a little neglected so we closed out and went to the bar. Some bartenders we liked and found more helpful than others. I didn't enjoy the food and I didn't really like the drinks either but my coworkers didn't want to go and we kept ordering. Cheap alcohol and lacking service. The kale Caesar came to the table with half kale, half spinach. That's okay by me since I wanted greens but it was not what I expected. My husband's maitake mushroom stroganoff had more white mushrooms than maitake and was more like a noodle Primavera dish, with crunchy bell peppers and a thin sauce. Again, it was good but not what we expected based on the description on the menu. Mulberry seems like a friendly neighborhood bar/tavern. I made an online reservation for dinner and cocktails for 4ppl. I called the Mulberry prior to my reservation to adjust the time of the reservation, I spoke with a female employee who told me they have my reservation and it would not be a problem to move the time up. One of my friends arrived at the Mulberry to check-in for the reservation ahead of me and was told that there was no reservation. Once I arrived, I was in formed by the manager -Ben that I did not have a reservation. I showed the manager Ben the online reservation on my phone and he said, " yeah I see that you have a reservation, I'm not saying that you don't, but I don't have it on my iPad so you don't have one". That did not make any sense. He asked how I made it, I said through Resy. I asked, "do you use Resy for online reservations" and he said "yes"! I showed him again my reservation that I made a week in advance and said that I spoke with an employee today to adjust the time, the manager asked was it a male or female, I responded female. I asked how do you have my reservation when I call and speak with someone directly but not when I arrive? He again told me, he did not see it on his iPad, so he did not have a table for me, and then he walked away. So, I said I would go somewhere else. Now, I have frequented this establishment many times before and this the first time that I have had this experience. This was very disappointing and unprofessional. I do not typically write reviews, but this was unacceptable. I have worked in this industry before as a Server, Bartender, Food & Beverage Trainer, Assistant Sales and Marketing Manager as well as an Assistant Restaurant Manager. If you see that guests have a proven reservation, you should accommodate the paying guest! The response should not have been just- I do not have a table for you and that's it! Ben the restaurant manager really could have said " give me a few minutes, have drink a drink at the bar and I will let you know when your table is ready". I have always spoken highly of this establishment and recommended the Mulberry to others, this is disappointing and I did not feel the Holiday Spirit!!! read more

Server Kersten M was amazing else this would be a three star review. When we walked in we were ignored by the greeter and two groups behind us were ushered in right in front of us. To us it seemed like ageism - but news flash! - old people have money and love to spend it. The Mulberry was hopping tonight, it was a fundraiser for the soon-to-be newly elected PA governor. We arrived as that was winding down. The food and drinks we had were good! I ordered a King Crimson beverage but they were missing one ingredient so they couldn't make it. Ironically we're in town to see a band with the drummer from King Crimson. (Sad face emoji here). The wedge salad used "Boston head" lettuce instead of iceberg - I support this! Then I had the cheesesteak- because it's PHILLY!- and it was big but perhaps a bit overdone. Also had the chicken sandwich, both came with excellent fries. They use some mystery spice on the fries that makes them irresistible. The drinks we did have were super tasty. I started off with a glass of the Cigar City IPA beer to go along with the garlic knot Buffalo chicken dip starter. My girlfriend started off with the chicken wings and cheese curds and me being the greedy person I am, I had to try her food (LOL). Very good. The wings were fried just right and seasoned perfectly. The cheese curds sat on top of some type of sauce but even without the sauce, they were yummy. My Buffalo chicken dip was yummy as well and surprisingly not spicy. Since it was Buffalo flavored, I assumed it would be. I stopped myself from eating the entire dish because I ordered the seasoned fries and the Mulberry burger. I loved the combination of lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, bacon jam, pepper Jack cheese, and garlic aioli on a soft bun. No ketchup needed. The interior is nice. Feels like a relaxed but upscale place with a little bit of an old school feel to it with the checkered flooring. The bar was packed but we were seated early which was nice. The service was good, but the server could have come over a bit more often. I was out of water for a while and my drink was empty for a good chunk of time. By the time the server came back I was done my meal and didn't order another drink, but the Cranberry Mule was good. The Garlic Notes and Buffalo Chicken dip was an interesting combo. It was really good with a nice spice level. The Chicken Milanese was ok, it was a bit dry and barely had any balsamic on it. I ordered the champagne Mule even though I'm not a big ginger beer person. The mulberry syrup was the reason for me. It felt only right to drink a mulberry cocktail at the mulberry. The bf ordered a beer, which said was a fruit sour but tasted more like a brown to us. Not sure if it was the wrong beer or just a poor description on BeerMenus? I'm a picky eater and didn't see anything that was calling to me so I went with a Smash Burger. The fries were honestly the star of the meal. We ended up getting out of there in just over an hour. Atmosphere was nice, albeit a bit loud. I forgot what this place used to be called but my friends and I went here after work Friday and I was surprised that it wasn't too packed but I can't complain we were able to get seats right at the bar right away. The bartender said most people work from home on Fridays now but the place is nice looking and spacious.
