    Espresso martinis (pretty good!)
    Courtney L.

Very disappointed in my experience at Lucky Duck. I came in with high expectations after hearing glowing reviews from friends and family, but it just didn't live up to the hype. We arrived for happy hour at 5pm on a Friday, and it was packed. The bar was extremely loud; so much so that it made it hard to even have a conversation. The whole resturant was loud even when we sat down at our seat! For happy hour, we ordered the chicken fingers, Caesar salad with fries, and the tuna tartare. The standout here was the tartare; it was fresh and flavorful, but the portion was comically small and mostly guacamole. The chicken fingers were pretty standard, nothing special but still enjoyable. The Caesar salad, however, lacked flavor. The fries were a highlight; super crispy and well done. I also really enjoyed the espresso martinis; the drinks overall were solid, and the servers were all lovely. We were seated for dinner just before 6pm and ordered the pepperoni pizza, duck bolognese, and mortadella sliders. The pizza was actually very good; thin, crispy, bar-style, and definitely something I'd order again. The mortadella sliders were also a win. I loved that they were served on focaccia; great flavor and a fun concept. Unfortunately, the duck bolognese was a major letdown. It had almost no flavor and was shockingly overpriced for the quality. Overall, I wouldn't rush back. If I did return, it would likely just be for drinks and the view, not the food.

Great views of the Delaware River and nice landscaping. We sat in the seat yourself area and ordered brunch from the bar. Their espresso martini is very good with fresh orange. Beer list is limited. Servers were pleasant. Fries were seasoned. Pork sausage was too heavy on sage for our liking. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Pizzas on other tables were very thin. Get there early if you want a good seat.

4 stars mostly for ambiance, location on the water, and the drinks. Food was lackluster, especially the $38 steak frites. Fries were over-seasoned but had good crisp and the steak was tough. The caesar salad was the best thing we ate. Maybe better to try the pizzas and small bites during happy hour.

Went here for a dinner date and was very excited. The atmosphere is incredible and the view is amazing even on a rainy day. The restaurant is very cute as well albeit a little crowded. The service was very friendly and pretty quick. There were out of some of our top options which was a little upsetting but the others items were still good. The drinks were mostly good as well. The sour cream and onion pizza was very unique and would recommend trying it as it is so different. Overall a good time but nothing super crazy.

New addition to Columbus Blvd. Beautiful river views. Very vibrant and bustling on my visit. I recommend checking this place out when you're looking for a nice range of good beers on tap and decent food menu. The pizzas looked good. I just had a Guinness and fries. The Guinness pour was awesome! The staff were very professional and accommodating overall. I can see this place doing very well due to the location and a really nice alternative to some of the other bars/restaurants nearby.

The ambiance is perfect for drinks with friends or an elevated dinner. We started with the prosciutto chips and the mvp pizza, which were both great and perfect for sharing. My favorite was the Caesar salad with chicken milanese, the chicken was super thin and crispy. The duck bolognese wasn't my favorite, as it lacked some flavor to me. It was a busy Saturday night, so service was a bit slow for our bigger party.

We came for happy hour and got a table outside. Service was great! They have limited vegetarian options. So we got the Caesar and fries and the MVP pie. The fries were okay. The garlic aioli didn't taste like garlic. The Caesar salad was okay. The mvp pie was good. It's a super thin crispy pizza. We got the pink slip for drinks and that was good too. I'd say I'd return just for the drinks and mvp pie and a spot along the river on a nice day.

Lucky Duck is a beautifully designed, perfectly located New American bistro that I can already tell will become my local go-to for great vibes, scenic views, and excellent drinks. I stopped by for a quick look during their soft opening, and it only made me more excited for what's to come. It feels like the perfect spot for almost any occasion--from casual meetups with friends to a more intimate first date or date night. The staff was incredibly friendly, happily showing me around and greeting everyone who walked through the door with genuine smiles. It left me confident that the service here will be just as great as the atmosphere.

Fun and lively. The indoor space around the bar was nice on a hot Sunday. The line to get a drink was kind of long, but the drinks were so good. I had a dirty (filthy) gin martini which was soo delicious. The duck vending machine on the way out was also fun and on theme.

The best place ever for a hot girl dinner. Fried, ceaser salad, great drinks, what more could you ask for? Waiting for the days the open up patio seating cuz this is the place of the summer for me. Definitely will be coming back with all of my friends. Great food, great drinks, the vibes in there are so nice. Went a little after opening it was packed but the service was fabulous!

Ive been waiting to try this place and Im glad I finally came! Such an awesome view by the river and the interior is well decorated, plus they have darts! We shared oysters, pizza and wings, raspberry collins mocktails and graham cracker honeycomb ice cream. Everything was done really well and the flavors were there for sure. Service was great and I will definitely be returning for drinks on a warmer night when they have the big doors open.

Walked in and restaurant was reserved all night so had to sit at the bar. Loved our service drinks and the vibes were great! Will absolutely be back with a reservation and can't wait to see what it's like in the summer!

I had went here on Sunday afternoon for an early lunch and it was SO good! The location is great, the vibe is immaculate, and the staff is super nice! Our bartender was honestly the best! We sat in the high top bar area so all service is through the bar. The bartender made sure we were accommodated for everything we ordered. If they didnt have something we wanted, she went above and beyond to ensure that she made it work for us. The food was super good too. I would definitely recommend their pizzas and the tuna tartar. I cant wait to go back again!!

You'd be unlikely to find this unless you knew to look for it. The main feature of this bar is the cocktail menu; it's creative and ambitious and yet very approachable, with helpful adjectives for each cocktail. The Mango Sticky Rice made my jaw drop; not only did the juicy mango come through, but also somehow a sense of starchiness, while being entirely balanced with the liquor. Definitely some of the best cocktails in Philly. And the music and vibe is so cozy but lively; the live records spinning create a warm atmosphere that is not sleepy nor dancey, instead you'll find yourself tapping your feet and swaying in your seat while in deep conversation or just enjoyable contemplation. I have to shout out Carl and Brianna, who made our evening especially unforgettable. They guided us seamlessly through the menu, were so knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Even with that, they stayed polite, friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating to the guy carrying around a mannequin. Great visit to Sassafras!

I ordered guacamole and chips for appetizers and it came out right away. The chips are fresh and not stale. Good amount of guacamole. Street corn aka elote. The corn is juicy. Unfortunately, it was not enrobed with mayo and cotija cheese as a typical elote should be. Fried plantain: not many slices. They are dry and not sweet . I was hoping for more ripe plantain Birria tacos: small tacos, the consommé lacks of depth of flavor. I could only taste saltines. The waiter asked if I wanted rice and beans. I said only beans. It's basically mashed refried beans. I wasn't aware that it costs extra $4. My husband ordered this dish served in half pineapple. It has chorizo and shrimp. With the help of Yelp, we found this place. First off, the building that houses National Mechanics is absolutely beautiful inside and out, and for good reason. The pub/restaurant occupies the old Mechanics National Bank, a majestic Greek Revival building, built in 1836. Inside the restaurant, the surroundings contrasted greatly with the outside. The large, primarily wooden interior has the feel of a vintage pub. It is equally as beautiful as the front. The service at National Mechanics was great. Though the staff was clearly running shorthanded, every employee we came into contact with served us with a smile and couldn't be friendlier. The food, at least on that day, was mediocre at best, unfortunately. While the menu was filled with all sorts of tempting dishes that already made us thinking of future visits, we opted for the Mexican Burger and the Ribeye Cheesesteak, two twists on old pub standbys. Sadly, we were both disappointed in our meals. We did start off on a bright spot, food-wise. My friend and I opted to share the Batter-Fried Pickled Green Beans, which were fabulous! Too bad the good food ended there... The description of the Mexican Burger sounded amazing, with avocado, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños, Monterrey Jack cheese, and chipotle mayo. My friend said it was kind of bland and it was quite greasy. My ribeye cheesesteak did not match well with its "Amoroso" roll and the steak itself was dry. In the end, we were both disappointed in our choice in a lunch spot. Perhaps it was the large crowd of diners and little staff that made it all come out a little...off. In the end, I'd try National Mechanics again if I were in the area, as the atmosphere and service made it a cool spot to dine in. Hopefully the food will be better next time.
