We were seated right away and I was a passenger princess when it came to ordering. We got wings, the Italian Hoagie Dip, and a wedge salad. As a girl who loves an Italian sub, this dip was perfection. It's everything you'd want in a Italian sub, but in dip form. Biting back at the P&K slander on this APP! I have found myself at the Pub and Kitchen bar a number of times for a variety of occasions. Group hang after a comedy show, date night drinks, quick snack and cocktail, etc. It is an amazing catch-all and I tend to gravitate there more in the winter months thanks to the cozy decor and myriad elfs on myriad shelfs. The bartenders here are as fabulous as the drinks. It's a neighborhood spot so expect friendly service but things are kept laid back and unpretentious. I recently ordered a French 75 with their hoagie dip and HIGHLY recommend this course of action. The hoagie dip comes with buttery croissant bread and is one of my new favorite starters in the city. While I've never sat down for dinner, I have confidence in the menu and would be willing to experiment a bit. While looking for some post-event fuel, the crew landed on this neighborhood bar for some snacks and sips. I knew from the moment I read Italian Hoagie Dip on their menu, I was in for a good meal. The Pub is a solid neighborhood spot with a good atmosphere and reliably good food, but the pricing feels out of step for what it is. A steak frites coming in at over $40 with a pretty small portion, was surprising, and salads at $18 each definitely push the limits for a local pub experience. Everything we had tasted good, but nothing really crossed into "great," especially given the price point. It's a comfortable place to grab a meal, just be prepared for bills that feel more Center City than local pub. Came back formally for Happy Hour and dinner, and again made an amazing Old Fashion, so it's not a fluke. It's also on the HH menu! Service was great and easy since you can book via OpenTable. Quaint outdoor seating area that is first come first serve (no reservations). The food is above average; I definitely recommend their Deviled Eggs (though pricey even on HH). My favorite local spot. Anyone that comes to visit, I take them here at least once. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Service is always 10/10. My only complaint is the barstools. They are so beyond uncomfortable. Feels like sitting on hard brick with pins. Such a minor complaint but I would do 75 backflips if they replaced them with chairs that had backs and didn't feel like a wall squat. Also, check out their sister restaurant Trattoria Carina. Pub & Kitchen is a great place to get some food and drinks with friends. The space is small so you are close to people and it is a little loud, but the cocktails and food are good. We got the burger, angry crab dip, Bronzino, mushroom pasta, wings and ramen gnocchi. There were some favorites and some not so favorites. I recommend the angry crab dip and the mushroom pasta as both were very flavorful. The angry crab dip had a perfect balance of sweetness from the crab meat and spicy from the spices. The mushroom pasta was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms really shines through with a little burrata for creaminess. The not so favorites ended up being the ramen gnocchi and Bronzino... the Bronzino tasted burnt as it was burnt. The ramen gnocchi was over cooked and more resembled mashed potatoes. The pairing for it was very off.. would not recommend. The service was attentive and the drinks were great. If you stop by, make sure to get the espresso martini! read more

Friday night 8pm and ITS PACKED. It's seat yourself for the bar area, which is huge. Took forever for service to come, so we went up to the bartenders to order directly. The crab dip was so salty that it was pretty much not edible. The bread that comes with it was very good! Would recommend the burger - thin fries and perfectly cooked burger. Pub and Kitchen has an awesome menu of smalls plates but I think what they lack is awesome entrees. I felt limited to ordering expensive (and slightly underwhelming) sandwiches. Don't get me wrong the burger and chicken sandwich were great, but for $20 for a sandwich and lukewarm fries I was slightly disappointed. I'm a big fan of pub and kitchen. It's not actually your average pub. It is priced a little higher, and for good reason. Their ambience is a little more upscale, while still having large tvs for games and still being dark / intimate. The upstairs is actually very upscale and much lighter and brighter, for private events. The staff here also reflects the higher price - they definitely go above and beyond and are attentive and warm. The food is iconic - while being classic pub food - burgers, fries, deviled eggs (?!), it's all delicious. This is a good place to go if you are meeting expectations of a lot of types of people. read more

This is a perfect example of a high-quality gastropub. Walking in, the music is loud and the bar is the first thing you see, but once you sit down and get your food, you can tell that the food is the star of the show. The menu is great, maybe a little bit on the pricy side, but the quality speaks for itself. I never order chicken wings, but the chili lime wings piqued my interest, and they are absolute bomb. Great precautions during Covid. They took our temperature by a scanner machine near the door, then seated us outside. Natalie, the hostess, accommodated us by seating us under a heater outside so we were quite comfortable. She was sweet and attentive, keeping her distance and wearing a mask which I was grateful for. The restaurant is not open for inside dining at this time, but upon checking in, I could see the bar would have been so much fun Quite a selection of alcohol from what I could see. Hospitality and festive is the feeling upon arrival. Music coming through the windows above our head was not too loud but made for some entertainment, We were greeted quickly by our server, Travis, who was absolutely adorable and quite energetic. He not only knows food, but alcohol and was helpful in sharing some ideas for touring Philly. He too wore a mask the entire time (properly too I might add). Food was delicious. We started off with a variety of drinks, then the appetizers arrived. Raw oysters from an organic farm off the Jersey shore. A cheese plate and fried pickles. Fried pickles --- I was thinking "why did someone order that?" But they were crisp and flavorful. Apparently they are famous for their grilled cheese and tomato soup - Delish. I think the red onion jam really makes the sandwich. And, the salmon dish was just amazing. Crisply cooked on the outside and not overdone on the inside. Can't recommend it enough. If the butternut squash is in season, order it. Looking forward to a return visit to this neighborhood gem. read more

Just a quick update to say that I'm grateful that Pub & Kitchen is open for take-out and delivery, slinging a limited menu of burgers and comfort food (and a couple healthier bites too, if that's your thing). The smash burger with fries I had for dinner on Friday night was, quite honestly, the highlight of my weekend. I'm still a little resentful towards my husband for telling me that, no, we did not need to order an additional side of fries. Next time, we are getting the extra fries because I'm going to need that black truffle ranch dip in my life. What kind of heathen says no to extra fries, anyway? It's admirable to have such a great restaurant open during covid. Even though they could open during Covid at 25% they chose to only serve outside. We visited once for dinner and then again for brunch. Both meals memorable. The tables were socially distanced, with heaters and all the staff wore masks correctly. I love that there were many locals eating there that Travis, our wonderful server, knew by name. His energy was contagious, along with his bar tending prowess. A couple of favorites were the shrimp and grits for breakfast and the grilled cheese/tomato soup for dinner. Fried pickles were surprisingly addictive. My friend and I dined at Pub & Kitchen yesterday for brunch. It was a bit of a homecoming for us as we both used to live in Philly where we frequented Chaucer's (formerly in this spot). Pub & Kitchen was fantastic across the board. Our servers Mike and Ronnie were fabulous - attentive, friendly, professional and efficient. This weekend, after visiting the Rosenbach garden, we were lucky to snag an open table. If you're a need to be seated immediately person, make a reservation somewhere else and take it walking. I'm happy to wait for a table to become available. The burger, as always, is a sure thing. Great bun, cooper sharp, handmade patties, you can't go wrong. (My one request would be that they bring back the old, perfect, highly addictive fries, please--the current fries are food but the previous fries were GREAT). The deviled eggs are also a favorite. The drinks, though, are where the craftsmanship truly shines through. I wish I could remember the name of our fall themed cocktail, but all you need to know is muddled apple and bourbon and well, now you know, right? So go! Warning, I am all over the place with my review of Pub and Kitchen. I have to say we had wonderful service but it was an extremely loud restaurant and at times impossible to communicate with her. We made a mistake by bringing my mother who is in her mid 70's for dinner. What was I thinking?! In my defense, the last time I had been to P&K was over an early weekend lunch and it was really quiet. If there is a next time I'll sit in the back room and perhaps leave her at home. As far as the food my review is mixed. The menu didn't seem to offer enough standard pub fare or traditional dinner plates. Our server was friendly and upbeat and pretty darn quick considering that the restaurant was jam packed this early Saturday evening. Our table shared very creamy yummy deviled eggs. The eggs were fairly standard but didn't last long to really mull over their merits. I had AMISH CHICKEN with a savoy cabbage roll and butternut squash. I was really looking forward to it because it was highly recommended on other reviews. Unfortunately this was not a wow dish for me. Our server said that it was a half of a chicken but it just didn't seem to pan out The piece of chicken was underwhelming what. The stuffed cabbage was odd and all in all the plate was one dimensional. The menu for dinner was fairly limited and I wish they had a few more items to choose from Igather that The kitchen must be small. I will say, one of my dinner partners had the cheese and charcuterie platter. That looked delicious. The onion dip by standard, the waffle chips were addictive! So in conclusion if you're bringing granny out perhaps choose a different spot for dinner. I personally would recommend sticking to the pub like food... snacks, chicken wings, dips and for sure the waffle chips! If you are adverse to loud restaurant dinners just go for drinks. read more

I love this place. I've been coming for years. Know why? THE BURGER. At one point my good friends and I had a burger eat-off. I won't mention the restaurants in the running but Pub and Kitchen won the popular vote. Delicious, juicy, charred meat, great accompaniments(red onion, tomato, special sauce) and the french fries are so yummy. Last night I took two of my daughters here to introduce them to this burger dynasty and they, being burger snobs, agreed. The burgers here are delicious. This has been the case for a long time now. If you want a delicious burger, go here. But I also must mention, their food in general is tasty and well done. I've been here on more than one occasion for brunch and was not disappointed.
