Good dogs at the Good Dog 4/10/25
Brian C.

Met some friends in the city and decided this place sounded like fun! It definitely was, great atmosphere and I absolutely loved the dog pics all over the place. We parked in a garage a block away, street parking is tough in this area but you can find it if you are patient. Drinks were good, I had the espresso martini and it hit the spot. Ordered the burger for dinner, not the stuffed one, the traditional one. It was just OK, IMO, cooked perfectly medium, but lacking a bit of flavor. Maybe just needed some salt and pepper but I was hoping for more. The Mac and cheese was more Mac than cheese. I like my Mac swimming in a rich creamy cheese sauce, this was not what I was looking for, but it was decent. The steak tacos were the best of the dishes we ordered, I just wish they came with a side of salsa. Our server, Logan, was fantastic. Friendly personality, knew the menu well, was quick with our drinks, and checked up on us often. I'd definitely go again for the drinks, services and ambience, and to try the stuffed burger!

This place has become my FAVORITE WINGS in the city!!! Their buffalo wings are so delicious and the blue cheese is *chefs kiss* I've also tried their Mac and cheese, wonderful side to the wings, and a few of their sandwiches because their fries are irresistible! Service is always fast and reliable and it's always busy without being crowded.

Half price happy hour drafts, wings and mussels.

Great place. Cozy cool vibes inside. Happy hour has good deals for solid drinks and food.

I had a lovely time at Good Dog Bar after a work event with the Yelp Philly CM. It was right next to my hotel. I love that it was in a super walkable part of town. This local haunt is divey in the best way possible. It's unassuming and has great food and drinks. I love the dog pictures that line the wall and the cozy interior. Our server was super kind and quick to take our orders. I tried the creamy mac and cheese. I'm a bit picky with my mac and cheese and found myself wishing there was a bit more of a kick to this. It was still super creamy and rich. My coworkers ordered their burgers which looked like the real star of the show here. Those burgers looked incredible and I wish I had ordered that. On my next visit, I will definitely be ordering that. I also got a very tasty apple mule mocktail that I highly recommend.

Cool city center bar & grill. Laid back with a lot of locals there. Everyone was pleasant. They have great food as well. The bar tenders & servers are great.

Hey not a bad dive bar in Philly. Went with a friend for early dinner. They have a good happy hour and also military is 20% off. So that's always a plus. Food was hearty and had flavor. Staff was friendly as well. The prices are on the price side but it's Philly everything is gonna run you $15 and above. If you ever need a bit to eat check it out.

Midnight food search while in Philly. After numerous failed attempts with places with closed kitchen - wallah magic - this place was serving dinner. Hurray. Ambience is that of a loud bar. Great. It's midnight. Friday night. I cannot complain. Server was super nice. Food was pretty good. We got wings. Yummy. Shrimp. Pretty good and vegetable stir fry. When in search of late night bites i will def return

Happy hour with my kid

I've been here more than a few times throughout the years. It's a good Philly spot! It's lively, has a good happy hour and decent consistent menu items. Happy hour with my oldest always calls for a simple, lively (dive-ish) bar. Happy hour with my middle is an upscale center city cocktail. So when the oldest wanted happy hour on Friday and I was already in center city I immediately thought "Good Dog"! It fit the bill perfectly. We had a couple of cocktails and she also had an alagash white. We shared French fries and wings and enjoyed sitting at the bar with a 3:00 start to happy hour! It's a good place to be. The bartender was so good and we enjoyed the great vibes that are here!

Proper dive bar with solid food options. Be prepared to wait because this place is always busy.

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

We came here around 11am before a matinee and didn't realize we wouldn't be able to get a table…read more We were very lucky to get bar seats that were around the corner of the bar. This way it was easy for our group to talk. I saw someone else drinking a drink that looked really good so I just ordered that without looking at the menu. It was in a champagne glass and had an orange peel in it. This drink was delish and I would order it again. I ordered the caesar w salmon. The salad itself was fine but the dressing didn't taste at all like caesar dressing. I still ate the whole thing - but just didn't love the dressing. The bartender was running around like crazy and I felt bad for her that she had to work so hard.

Reviewers rated Moriarty's short ribs highly, and though I hesitated to order risotto take out, I want for it. Sorry, no pics but trust ne when I say it was delish! The portions were great (there were a few spears of asparagus) and the lukewarm risotto (expected considering it was delivered) was creamy and flavorful. There was a but more oil than I would have liked floating at the bottom, and the sauce was a bit salty, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy the super tender morsels of beef. I look forward to trying something else on the menu soon.
