Really neat restaurant nestled in downtown Philadelphia, much larger space inside than what appears outdoors. Menu was creative, food was good.

Great service, food came out quickly. Lively bar with a great vibe, that's in the downtown area.

One of the best chefs and two of the best meals I had for the summer. They even let me edit my dish steak for the pork chop! Would definitely come back to try more things on the menu. Nice space inside and out

Trout! Good but a little salty.

Such a fun experience! Lively and trendy vibe. Great beverage options. I had a cosmo. Great service. I ate the trout. It was very good with vegetables as the base. Slightly salty. My son had the steak frites. Steak was made perfect and fries ate. Recommend! Great local spot!

Cute intimate spot with outdoor seating. Their pizza was crispy and thin. Definitely different from other tavern pizzas. The steak was a little overcooked (for medium rare) and felt like it was pulled meat.

This is my second time visiting but this time was strictly for happy hour. This was another pleasant experience and the weather added an extra sprinkle on top of the experience. Pizza- 4/5, I loved that it was a thin crust and cut up in small bites Whipped feta- 3/5, perfect for a warm day. I loved the focaccia bread. I'm not a beats fan so that knocked this down a bit for me HH wine- 3/5 decent Overall I would visit again for sure. I loved the outdoor seating, it was a perfect way to end my Monday.

Went for lunch on a Saturday, was sat quickly and greeted by a server relatively fast. The watermelon and cucumber salad was very refreshing, the only thing I would mention is that there was a tad bit too much dressing sonfelt very oily while eating. The lobster ravioli was 50/50 for me personally, while the lobster was cooked well and the sauce flavorful, the only lobster was what was topped on the ravioli and not actually stuffed in with the cheese like I was expecting. It was still good, just not as "lobster ravioli" as Im used to. The pizza is a very thin crust but they did a wonderful job of not burning the crust despite this. There was a lao a really nice distribution of pepperoni throughout the pizza and it never really gave that "greasy" feeling that can happen.

Darling Jack's is a great Center City spot that hits the sweet spot between neighborhood tavern and upscale casual dining. The vibe is lively, the bar seating is excellent, and it's an easy place to settle in for a relaxed night out. The long hots pizza was the standout, perfectly crispy crust with great flavor, just the right heat from the peppers, and balanced toppings that make it hard to stop eating. Definitely a must order. Service was fantastic throughout, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. And honestly, happy hour here is a must stop if you're nearby, great energy, solid deals, and a perfect place to start (or end) your night in Philly. A very solid 4 star spot I'd happily come back to. Don't forget the blood orange margarita! Delicious.

Upscale Atmosphere, Chill Vibe. I went here to try the thin crust tavern style pizza. Walking in it is a clean, fun, and well decorated place with low light. The open kitchen balances the vibes making it seem lively and open. The server was friendly and we were seated quickly, I ordered the cheese + cheese and my partner the watermelon and feta salad. Both were fresh and delicious, the pizza was nice and crisp as expected with high quality ingredients, as was the salad. I also enjoyed a fun mixed drink prepared at the bar which was great. To finish off the dinner we had the watermelon sorbet, complimented with a rosemary sugar cookie. It was an interesting and delicious combination! Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to trying another item next time.

The dessert special: raspberry pistachio crumble with buttermilk ice cream. Forgot to take photos of the entrée.

Pretty good! Visiting fab Philly for a conference downtown, my fellow Elite Yelper and I both came upon Darling Jack's in our search. A third friend suggested a nearby chain, but why forego local flavor and vibes for a cardboard cutout thats available anywhere? It was a late meal so we shared an appetizer and entree: charred broccoli + steak frites. Taking one for the team, I conceded to a medium well cook. And it was still good! I almost always have broccolini instead of broccoli, so was caught off guard by the bright green florets when it arrived to the table. But also very good! The pickled fennel was a delight, and I would have liked even more. We ordered the dessert special of the day, which was some sort of raspberry crumble with crushed pistachios and buttermilk ice cream. It was interesting. Different, for sure. I didnt NOT like it, but the ice crram was the best part. Our server was cool and he was hustling, mostly solo I think. Good pick overall.

Now that we have two college students, I guess you'll be seeing more happy hour posts here. (So this post is based solely on my happy hour experience.) Finally checked out Darling Jack's Tavern. Great atmosphere and an even better happy hour. The host and server were kind and helpful. I enjoyed my old fashioned. Food was good. My friend and I were surprisingly full. I'll definitely be back!

This is a nice tavern style restaurant right in the heart of downtown Philly. It is sandwiched in-between a few other restaurants and with little signage, I had to look around a little to see where the front door was. Inside there is an expansive bar along with 2 smaller bar areas in front of a large dining room on the side. Lots of dark wood interior and a nice decor. Some booths and tables inside, and a few tables outside. Their Happy Hour takes place during the weekdays at both the inside bar and outside tables. We sat at the inside bar and ordered some drinks. They were quite pricey for the small pours and the sugary additives. Better to drink beer or wine here. The Happy Hour food was very good. We started with the Deviled Eggs and the Croquettas. Definitely a good choice on taste and freshness. At the table we ordered a Pizza with Mushrooms, Garlic, and Pepperoni. It was cut into squares and was cooked perfect. The

Stopped in here for lunch and first thing you notice is it's designed like a classy old school bar/Restaurant which I think is pretty cool. I was seated immediately in a small booth. I decided to order the tavern brisket dip and beer. The sandwich part wasn't bad although the dip could have been confused with water with some oil because it had no flavor at all and added nothing to the dish. The french fries were made just how I personally like em with some crunch and low/medium salt level. I gave this place three stars but it's more like 3.5 mainly because well it's a nice place it's not doing anything at least with the lunch that almost every other place in the gayborhood part of Philadelphia doesn't do slightly better since there's a ton of restaurants and bars in this area. But if you happen to be near go to it because it's not a bad experience it's just ok

I was a little surprised it had boards with cheese-charcuterie and meats. I saw some nice appetizers and chose a sandwich as well. I started with the Artichoke Hummus with Feta and Grilled Focaccia - it was excellent! Large chunks of artichoke with the creamy hummus and little balls of feta were such a great combination. However, it was the Grilled Focaccia that brought the spread to its peak. Light and slightly crunchy it was so delicious with the hummus! Next up, the Pistachio Herbed Ricotta with Lavender Honey Bruschetta. I took my first bite started to chew and had to close my eyes as I was transported to a 'heavenly' taste. The pistachio with the creamy ricotta was amazing, and with the lavender honey, it was over the top. I told the server it could be a dessert as well! After two great appetizers, I was really looking forward to my 'main dish' - the Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Cabot Cheddar, fresh tomato and arugula, and a truffle herbed aioli (I opted out of the bacon). I took a bite and of this thick smoked chicken breast with a fabulous aioli dressing and was delighted it was every bit as delicious as the appetizers! The chicken was tender complimented by the cheese, tomato and arugula-but I had the dressing come on the side and found myself adding more and more, it was so good! What a gem in Center Cjty - it's a must try!

Okay, hear me out and listen to the entire review:…read more TL;DR VERY EXPENSIVE We came here for our anniversary because reviews were wonderful and the menu looked very European i.e. smaller plates with big flavors and delicious cocktails. Our order, pre-meditated was for oysters, octopus, and the 'plateau du marche' aka cheese and meat plate. All sounds good, right? The oysters were WAY too small for $21 (6 in total), the octopus was cut up into small pieces equaling about 1/2 a tentacle but they filled the plate with a few pieces of sausage and potatoes to make it look like the plate was full. It was not. Plus the sauce it comes with was way too acidic. The cheese an meat plate costing $26 has only a few slices of meat, 4 slices of old crusty bread, a few crumbles of cubed cheese, and very very very small pitted olives. Honestly, it was embarrassing. We had to end up ordering their happy hour breads which were fine but after dropping a pretty penny we shouldn't have to order MORE food... As far as the drinks go, I just don't understand the justification in charging $16 for a N/A drink... I ended up sending it back because after one sip on my part and another on my bartender husband's part we both agreed that it was repulsive. And I never send drinks back. Service, lovely and attentive Atmosphere 100% inviting and the view of the fountain made it all magical Drinks WAY too expensive Food WAY too small and incredibly overpriced Flavors - fine but definitely not worth the price tag All in all we went for a few cocktails and something to munch on and left with a $200 bill. No leftovers. A great date night spot if you're looking to drop a dime and a half to impress your mate but honestly, I was extremely disappointed. We left hungry, sober, and confused as to where our money went.

Sure, there has been the occasional hiccup here and there, but that's simply the reality of the service industry. What matters is that the overall experience has been consistently excellent, and over time I've come to know and appreciate many members of your team. My most recent visit, however, reminded me exactly why I keep coming back and fully reaffirmed my ongoing state of Barcelona Bliss. I recently made reservations for myself and a friend to celebrate his birthday. Wanting to guarantee a great evening, there was really only one choice: Barcelona. As an added bonus, I had attended UNCORKED and was fortunate enough to win an extra prize along with my free tapas button: a $100 credit toward a bottle of wine. From the moment we walked through the door, the evening was off to a great start. We were greeted by Elliot, my favorite person at Barcelona. I've always found him to be welcoming, attentive, personable, and genuinely funny. In fact, he was one of the original reasons we became regulars. When he first served us, he combined exceptional service with an engaging personality that made every visit feel special. As always, he was on top of everything and even made a point of wishing my friend a happy birthday. I could spend pages describing the food, service, and atmosphere, but I'll spare you my rambling. Suffice it to say, the evening was exceptional. Every member of the team seemed committed to making sure we had a memorable experience. Whether it was the thoughtful suggestion to combine our table with another when our growing collection of tapas and wine began to outgrow the available real estate, the delightful sommelier, a funny and attentive blonde woman whose name I unfortunately can't remember, who guided us to the perfect bottle, or our server, who never missed a beat and seemed to anticipate every need before we could ask, every member of the team contributed to making the evening truly special. The 2024 Gessamí was an inspired recommendation and undoubtedly one of the highlights of the night. Fragrant and beautifully balanced, with notes of jasmine, citrus, and ripe stone fruit, it was vibrant, refreshing, and paired wonderfully with our seemingly endless parade of tapas. The entire experience was lovely, fun, memorable, and genuinely impressive. While I unfortunately can't remember the names of either the sommelier or our server, that is in no way a reflection of their service. If anything, it simply highlights the shortcomings of my memory. Their attentiveness, professionalism, warmth, and contributions to the evening certainly did not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated. This visit reminded me exactly why Barcelona has become such a favorite destination. Time and again, you deliver the perfect combination of outstanding food, exceptional wine, genuine hospitality, and an atmosphere that somehow feels both exciting and comfortable at the same time. While Barcelona Wine Bar is certainly a great name, in my mind it will always be known as my Barcelona Bliss.

We had a lot of questions, and our server was super helpful and patient, and even went so far as to mark all the vegan options on the menu for me so that I knew exactly what I could order. The food came and it was fine. Nothing to complain about, but nothing overly remarkable on my end. I definitely think this is an atmosphere-based place. By that I mean the food was fine but it's not something I would crave normally -- or if I did, I could go to the grocery store and make myself a little charcuterie board. But it's a really nice spot if you want to hang out with friends and enjoy some drinks and snacks while catching up. It also would be a good spot for date night.
