I had decided to dine here since I still had hotel dining credit and had a fine experience. The service was great and the staff were wonderful but the food itself was subpar in my opinion. I had the steak frites medium rare and my friends had ordered a few dishes to share. A few had also ordered medium rare but unfortunately all of ours came out to be more medium. The meatballs were quite pricey and there were only 2 but it was redeemed by its taste. The grilled avocado was quite literally a grilled avocado with toast that you have to spread yourself. A majority of the dishes seemed to be under salted or seasoned. Overall, it was a fine experience.

I went on a Wednesday evening for Happy Hour and sat at the bar. The early bartender was at best average and not really friendly but the later evening bartender was super nice and very attentive. There were others eating dinner at the bar and a few ordered some appetizers. The food looked good and everyone seemed happy. The bar is located in the lobby of the Canopy Hotel. Thursday evenings they have a manager reception with some complimentary snacks which is good because the drink prices are not a bargain. The restaurant serves breakfast as well and the portions are quite big and sharable. The decor is bistro style but light from the surrounding outside windows.

Didn't realize this was a hotel bar when we chose it off maps reviews. Certainly changed the vibe from my expectations, but not necessarily bad. Espresso martini was delicious but very expensive. Caesar salad was overdressed and runny. Mac and cheese was good. Pizza was very greasy but good. Service was very attentive when we first arrived but took a long time to circle back for our bill, despite being very empty.

The classy festive vibes were unreal here! And it wasn't overrun on a Friday night. They don't take reservations for bar/lounge seating and we were able to snag a high top. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were good and portion of fries was generous and delicious. Such a great night.

Oatmeal has butter in it

The restaurant is located inside the Canopy Hotel. I had just checked in after a long flight and was starving, so I took the front desk's suggestion to try their breakfast. The only vegan option on the menu was oatmeal, which sounded perfect: warm and filling. When the oatmeal arrived, I started adding the toppings but noticed a rim of butter around the edge of the plate. I asked about it, and sure enough, they mix butter into it. I also suspect the granola was warmed in butter. They did make me a new one without it, which I appreciated. The cappuccino was just okay, nothing memorable or worth ordering again.

This bar/lounge is in the Canopy Hotel in Philadelphia. We are staying in the hotel and were looking for somewhere to eat where we wouldn't have to leave the hotel. The Wayward is great! First of all, it's full of Eagles fans here for the Victory Parade. Ben, the bar back, greeted us and gave us a great table. We had the smash burger, fries, and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious.

My sloppily plated pasta that was too salty.

I went here with friends to celebrate International Women's Day. And honestly, the only thing this place has going for it is the décor. There were six of us and we spent about $80 each and everyone was disappointed with their meals. The service was lacking as well. Our server never even came back to check on us after we got our food. Her 20% tip was automatically included, so I guess she didn't think it was necessary to bother. My meal came out last and after everyone was almost finished eating because she put in the wrong order. I placed an order for pasta and the runner offered me steak. Overall , the taste of everything was either underseasoned or salty. I'd skip this place.

We came here for happy hour, and we had a pretty good time. It was interesting because we were seated in the "lounge" area which was pretty open and we were instructed to sit wherever we'd like. The inside was very well decorated and there were plenty of comfy couches to sit on as well as standard tables with chairs. As for the food, we tried their white wine and cocktails that were available for happy hour (the cocktails at the time were a Mojito and a French 75). We also got an order of the Truffle Salt Butterfly Chips, which were surprisingly delicious. With the happy hour deal, the cocktails were $8 and the bar menu items were 50% off. Overall, I was pleased with my experience here. The staff were very kind and attentive too!

My family and I came to the wayward for a dinner on an otherwise busy Friday night and this was one of the only places that had reservations for 7 PM. We came in and it was not very packed, so we were a bit nervous about our meals. I ordered one of the specials for the day since the other pasta dish was out of stock. It was a ravioli with short rib inside and pesto. I was a bit disappointed with my dish, the ravioli was undercooked, not even al dente, but the seasonings and taste was pretty all right. My brother ordered the cauliflower and fries, which he mentioned was good. And my sister and mom ordered the salmon dish, which they both enjoyed overall. It did take quite a while for us to receive everyone's dish, and some peoples food came out before others. Additionally, my sister sent back the fried oysters and ordered the salmon instead, and it took quite a long time for them to bring out the food. By the time she received it, we were getting ready to leave. The ambience is quite nice as it is a hotel chic lounge environment, but I would not find myself coming back here again.

Citron Presse

The Wayward is a solid breakfast/brunch spot with an excellent cocktail game. It's located in the Canopy by Hilton Hotel, so it can be a little confusing to find as you either have to go through the hotel or find the labeled entrance on the side of the hotel building. It does have just a tiny bit of a hotel restaurant vibe, but if you're in the right spot, it's actually pretty cute. We really enjoyed having drinks here. There's limited seating at the bar, but they have a variety of types of seating around the bar that may be used to enjoy your drinks --- tables, couches, armchairs, etc. My favorite cocktail was the Girard Spritz, a vodka-sparkling wine drink with strawberry and thyme that is just delightful. I also had the Citron Presse, which is made with local gin, honey, and lemon and was a very pretty drink. My friend also enjoyed the Broken Flowers, which had a unique flavor profile and looked pretty awesome with the straw through a flower blossom. Food-wise, I opted for the Smoked Salmon Sammy, a classic lox on an Everything bagel with all the usual fixings, which was exactly what I wanted it to be. My friend ordered the Short Rib Hash with sweet potato, peppers, onions, and poached eggs and was quite happy with it. Overall, a good option. Would be interested in returning for oysters and one of their many variations on the classic French 75. Definitely worth the stop if you're staying at the hotel!

Cauliflower & steak frites
Veronica H.

We ate at our hotel out of necessity and boy were we pleasantly surprised. Nomz: Started off with the French onion soup, which was really good; the bread, cheese and broth were balanced and super tasty. Shared the steak frites with cauliflower to make it a bit more healthy. The sauce on the steak frites was delicious, we couldn't get enough of it, the steak was good quality. The portion wasn't huge but it was enough for us. The fries were also very tasty, good balance between soft and crunchy. The cauliflower was very flavorful, loved every bit of it, wish I could make like this at home. Drinks: I had the rose and it was well balanced and not too sweet. Service: There are waiters/waitresses that you just remember, Liam will be one of those. He was fantastic, had great foresight and was super pleasant. Ambiance: Modern yet homey feel. Nope or Dope: Dope, I don't typically recommend eating at your hotel but this was a good dinner!

Decided to eat breakfast at Hotel as we have been fans of the food at other Canopy Hotels and it was raining. Was Surprised with it being Mother's Day there was no special menu for the day. Food was OK I was not a fan of this location. Omelette was all egg with little to no cheese or other goodies that make an omelette spectacular. Side salad was interesting side for breakfast loved the vinaigrette dressing. Convenient breakfast option for guests but do not think I would go back otherwise.

What the dress code, strictly enforced or not?

Business casual. No trainers or sweatsuits.

Hi! Are there heaters on the patio for outdoor dining?

There were not heaters when we dined at Wayward. But that could be because the weather/temperature did not call for it. Perhaps as the temperature gets colder they may provide them for outdoor dining. The food was delightful as well as the staff.

I then had the wedge salad (blue cheese, nueske's bacon, cherry tomatoes, radish, pepitas, crispy onions, and thai basil goddess). There were no tomatoes on ours, and so we were given sliced avocado instead. This was an interesting attempt but not my favorite take on this dish, I probably would not get this again. However, the shrimp po boy buns came through to round off this meal! (crispy shrimp, smoky aioli, house made choppy chop, dill on two buttered potato rolls.) These were fantastic and absolutely fire. NOTE they are tiny, almost appetizer sized, which didnt bother me because after the salad and cheese curds I was feeling full already but I would go back and get two orders just for myself they were that good. All in all a great place, I recommend!

As of 05/2025, they supposedly offer 10% off your order by showing your SEPTA card. But, I'd confirm this offer before ordering to ensure it's honored. When I was there in the early morning, the cook (who also takes orders) didn't recognize the deal and didn't know how to punch it in. So, it was a bit of a letdown we couldn't redeem the deal, but we still wanted to try the sandwiches after hearing great things about them. I ordered The Hatch and Coop Sandwich (egg, cheese, chicken) on a round roll at the kiosk. You can customize your bread, egg (fried or scrambled), and cheese (provolone, american, or cheddar). The sandwiches come without any sauce unless you order sauce (extra $$) on the side. I highly recommend the Hatch Sauce- a typical mayo sauce with a little spice. I found The Hatch and Coop Sandwich to be just pretty good but I wish it had more heft to it. The chicken was juicy and well cooked, but I wish there was more. The cheese did the cheesing and coated the chicken, but the sandwich had far too many onions for my liking. With the Hatch Sauce, I felt the sandwich was tied together but it was a little odd to me the sandwich doesn't have sauce on its own. I'm giving Hatch and Coop the benefit of the doubt since it was so early in the morning, but I found my sandwich to be just OK. However, I will be back to try the fried chicken sandwiches, which I've heard rave reviews for.
