The Rittenhouse Grill is amazing, and a favorite restaurant of ours. The food is always cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The steaks are the best in Philly. Additionally, the ambiance is beautiful and the hospitality is top notch. You won't find better anywhere else. They also have a great Happy Hour menu. I had a dinner with my friends. I live in NY Ana had to plan it for 18 people. I called and spoke with Simo and he was amazing! He helped me plan everything detail down to the custom menu. He was responsive aha so accommodating. The food is out of this world. The service is top notch. We are in the private room and they did not miss a beat. My friends all raved about. We were all from out of town except for one. He's another thing. I told you I'm from NY. Our dinner was game 5 of the NBA Finals. I asked Simo if we there was a TV in the room. He said yes and made sure it was on for us to watch and she volume set just right. You all need to check them out. I will be back the next time I'm in Philly. Thank you team Rittenhouse and go NY Knicks! read more

What we snagged (that I can recall) -Caviare (very flavorful with plenty of sides) -Octopus -Bread to start was delish and warm -Filet -Lamb Chops -Prime rib -Lobster -Plenty of dessert! Rittenhouse Grill lands at the top of my top 5 Restaurants that offer Happy Hours in Philadelphia! My favorite items are the Lamb Chop Duo for 10USD, Coconut Shrimp for 10USD, 1/2 Caesar Salad for 7USD, Enormous Baked Potato from the Main Menu for 11USD and the 10USD Martini or Manhattan. The bar is decorated in sultry animal prints, the bartender on Mon-Sat is fabulous and sometimes there's a pianist. TGIHH! read more

I would say the 3.5 star average here is exactly correct, but going with 4 because I do really love coming in and often bring guests. That being said, not everything on the menu is a winner (especially food) and you have to go in knowing what's tasty (prime rib) and what's skippable (most other dishes). Their happy hour bites are truly just bites but a fun way to snack and gab and sip. I love chatting with the bar staff and there's really no place like RG. You get kind of transported back in time with the live piano player, the leopard print carpet, and the PEOPLE WATCHING. The reason to come to RG is the people watching. All of Philadelphia's finest come out of the woodwork for this happy hour. It has a way of transporting you back in time. I always look forward to life taking me back to the RG bar. read more

If you're looking for an upscale dining experience in Philadelphia, Rittenhouse Grill is the place to be. I had the pleasure of visiting tonight for my significant other's work Christmas dinner, and from start to finish, it was nothing short of spectacular. The holiday decorations were breathtaking and added such a festive, elegant touch to the evening. Dinner started with a Caesar salad and while this may sound odd, I think it was the best Caesar salad I've ever had! For dinner I ordered the prime rib, and it was perfection, tender, flavorful, and truly melted in your mouth. For dessert, the key lime pie was also amazing, perfectly tart, refreshing, and the ideal way to end the meal. The atmosphere, service, and food all lived up to the reputation of a five-star restaurant. Rittenhouse Grill is a gem, and perfect for a special occasion! read more

Had a party and it was fantastic! Staff was courteous. Ambience with a piano was amazing. Steak delicious.

What a fantastic evening! I dined solo and was treated like royalty by both John and Juan. They made me feel incredibly welcome and provided top-notch, professional service throughout the night. I went all out with my order--oysters, crab cake, sea bass with creamed spinach, and two desserts (crème brûlée and key lime pie). I definitely felt a little indulgent, but no regrets here! Every dish was spot-on, and the espresso martinis were amazing. I'll definitely be back before I leave! Highly recommend this place for a wonderful dining experience. They even had a love pianist! read more

Was in Philly for a follow up appointment and got a chance to see my son. He was craving a steak and we wanted something that was close by and didn't want a franchise steakhouse. Rittenhouse Grill fit the bill and is located close to City Center, Made a reservation ahead of time on open table and probably didn't need it but we went during the week so the weekend might be different. Intimate setting would be a great place for a date night or special occasion. The food was cooked to perfection and was delicious. My only complaint was the service. Service was slow and drink refills did not happen. For a high end restaurant you expect top notch service and this was not it. To top it off,if bill is over a certain amount than a gratuity is automatically added to the bill which would have been fine had the experience been better. Would still highly recommend as the food was amazing. read more

(As posted in r/PhiladelphiaEats on Reddit) Went to Rittenhouse Grille for my birthday dinner last night and man-oh-man what a great meal and evening out. Pix are of the dessert (chocolate mousse pie) and appetizer, applewood smoked bacon with a maple sauce, i think, that was absolutely perfect. Between these two items we had the wedge salad, filet mignon and mashed potatoes (me) and my husband went a little piggy and got the lobster bisque, rack of lamb, lobster tail and au gratin potatoes but we forgot to take pix of those lol. Our waiter Armando was so awesome and really made our night extra apecial. It was only his 6th shift too! There was a piano player who played happy birthday twice for me, first when he started (around 8p) and second when the owner brought the dessert out with a candle and spoke with us for a moment. He also picked up dessert which was so sweet! Speaking of the check, they do an auto 20% gratuity which didn't bother us as we tip 25%, so we popped some cash in the check presenter to bring it up to that. The decor is Mad Men special dinner night out and is absolutely gorgeous. Hubs and I agreed this will be a repeat place for us for our special dinners we go to throughout the year. read more

I dined here for dinner as part of a travel group. Our menu was limited because we were so large but everything was absolutely delicious. The prime rib was perfectly cooked. I typically do not care for Caesar salads but the one at Rittenhouse was spectacular. Service was great, for us being a group of around 40 the service was on point. They recognized that we had to be out by a certain time so service was expedited but did not feel rushed. If back in the area again I would 100% dine here. read more

Everything about Rittenhouse Grill was impeccable! From the moment you enter the swanky bank-like entryway you are greeted with the sound of a beautiful pianist playing in the center of the restaurant. The decor is bold and elegant. Rittenhouse Grill is a classic steakhouse in the Warwick Hotel. I sat at the bar during happy hour enjoying the music, noticing the familiarity between the patrons and the bar staff. It is apparent that this bar has many regulars. It was a solid evening. I ordered the prime rib dip and was surprised how small the sandwich was for the price point. It was a delicious sandwich but not sure if it was worth the price point. The gin gimlet was super stiff. It was a bit difficult to drink. The service was fantastic - a jovial and fun bartender, but he stood alone. Everyone else went through the motions. It was fine. read more

Rittenhouse Grill is an absolute hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Philly's Rittenhouse area, and it's a dining experience like no other. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a swank supper-club setting that exudes elegance and old-school glamour. The black walls, leopard-print carpet, and the enchanting live pianist set the stage for a truly memorable evening. It's the kind of place where you can't help but feel a little extra special. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Rittenhouse is a culinary masterpiece. From the freshest seafood to the juiciest steaks, every dish is a work of art. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and each bite is a revelation. One of my personal favorites is the Filet & Sea Bass Surf & Turf. It's a visual and gastronomic delight, with one of the most prized ocean treasures being their Sea Bass - It's as succulent as it gets with all of its buttery, flakey goodness. The Filet? I split that beast in half with my fork; there's absolutely no need for a knife, which is the way it should be! I was in food heaven. The service here is impeccable. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and they make you feel like royalty. It's evident that they take pride in providing a top-notch dining experience. What truly sets Rittenhouse apart, besides the stunning ambiance and exquisite cuisine, is the attention to detail. Every aspect of your evening is carefully curated to ensure that you have an unforgettable time. Whether it's the attentive waitstaff or the soothing tunes of the live pianist, it's all designed to make you feel like you're part of something special. Rittenhouse Grill is the kind of place where you go to celebrate life's milestones, indulge in a romantic dinner, or simply treat yourself to a night of opulence. It's a testament to the timeless allure of classic supper clubs, and it's a true Philly treasure. So, if you're in the Rittenhouse area and you're looking for a dining experience that's a cut above the rest, look no further than Rittenhouse Grill in the Warwick Hotel. Trust me, it's a journey back in time with flavors that are thoroughly modern and unforgettable. read more

Upon my first trip to Philly I opted to stay in the Warwick Hotel Rittenhouse Square. It's delightful, and located in it's lobby is Rittenhouse Grill. I arrived to my hotel after a day of exploring and thought - it seems time for a martini. Who doesn't love a good steakhouse martini? I sure do. Imagine my surprise and also delight when I discovered they have happy hour from 4:30 - 6:30 Wednesday - Friday and martinis are *drumroll please* $9!!! Never have I seen such a deal in all my happy hour exploration, and trust that this is one of my favorite pastimes. They offer Dirty martinis, cosmos, manhattans and margaritas for $9 and select wines for $8 and select beer for $5. While I had just discovered this amazing deal, it appears Philly knows what's up. Right at 5 pm, the bar got totally packed with people ready to live their best discounted cocktail life. They also have select bites for under $10. The real star of the show tho, seems to be the prime rib. While I did not order it, the seasoned happy hour pros surrounding me all opted for this. It was the best people watching, as RG seems to have its regulars and Adam the friendly bartender seems to have their orders ready on deck. I loved everything about it and will most likely return on my trip. The ambiance is what you'd expect from an old school steak house - dark, cozy and with the possibility of live music as they have a piano. Five star find from me for sure! read more

This is a high end restaurant that you will only find in big cities like Philadelphia, New York or Chicago. Picturesque and right out of a movie, the interior is old mahogany and dark with candle light. Everyone there is dressed as business executives. The service staff is amazing and offers nothing left to desire as they wait to your every need. Drinks are fresh and perfectly made. The bar is not too loud to interfere with any business discussions you might have, even during a Phillies championship game. The food is what makes it a 5 star place. Everything was done to perfection. The bisque was amazing. And the steak was probably one of the best I have had. read more

The steak was phenomenal. Loved that there was a piano player. Very classy vibe. However, I do feel that the automatic gratuity seems to make some of the service staff a bit complacent. I get that they probably need to do that because hotel guests aren't always good tippers. But it was a little ridiculous. We were seated for 10 minutes before we were approached for a drink order, but we hadn't been given menus. The server said, "oh, you want menus?" Like that was in some way surprising. But she was sweet and the rest of the meal was fine. Just don't go there if you're super hungry, or at least have a snack first. read more

This was our Valentine's date night and as much as we wanted to love it, we just couldn't. Our steaks were the tastiest things we tried, but for the price tag, they just weren't the quality we expected. We've had great steaks at other steakhouses around the city that taste so worth their price, and these just weren't it. The wine we ordered was fine, but was labeled a Cellar Reserve and way overpriced for being able to find it down the road much cheaper at a liquor store. We weren't told about any specials for the holiday, not sure if they just didn't have them or it was forgotten about. The potato skins were not very flavorful and the au gratin potatoes were chunky and had unmelted cheese within. The Caesar salad was fine, but the real bummer was our fries...we noticed a small hair stuck to the top after trying one or two. After that we really didn't want to eat anything else. It took a long time for our waiter to come check on us and take the fries away. He apologized and took them off the bill, and then a manager or owner gave us 10% off for next time. No offense, but we won't be using that as we just can't justify going again. We get mistakes happen, but at the same time this hasn't happened at any restaurant we've been to in the city since moving here and it really bummed out our holiday. This is also marketed as higher end so for a mistake like this to happen was even more unexpected. We were offered free dessert and tried to refuse, but also didn't want to be rude with how persistent our waiter was. We said no thanks once but he left the menu anyway and came back a minute later to see if we changed our minds. We probably should have stuck to our instinct, but we had a few bites of a raspberry sorbet that tasted mediocre instead before asking for the check. I couldn't help but to also notice how we were rarely checked in on until when our food was first out, but after there was an issue we saw our waiter much more frequently asking what we needed. It's important to treat all consumers attentively, not just ones that find a problem. We left pretty unsatisfied and with a large bill, with 20% gratuity already added. With how many other fabulous businesses we know in the city, we won't be back. read more

Upon entering I was greeted promptly at the front desk, and to my surprise there was a live pianist playing near the bar which created a nice atmosphere. I sat at bar seating, ordering the prime rib sandwich. The sandwich itself was decent- nothing special, but not bad either. The accompanying potato skins were unfortunately burnt to a crisp. I am very tolerant of crispy skins but even trying to cut these with a fork made them turn into dust. After dinner it took a while to close out, but eventually came. I would try this restaurant again, but would order a different entree and side. read more

I heard rumors that the prime rib sandwich at Rittenhouse Grill was the best sandwich in Philly. I stopped by for happy hour one day to see for myself. But before I got the main event I tried the coconut shrimp appetizer. They were two of the biggest shrimp I have ever seen, perfectly fried with a delicious cocktail sauce. Things were off to a good start. Then came the main event, the prime rib sandwich. This prime rib was unbelievably tender and juicy. The bread was so soft and perfectly soaked up not just the meat juices, but the beef broth that comes with the sandwich in a little bowl. You can dip it in the bowl of broth like a french dip sandwich. I've definitely never had a sandwich quite like this one. It's hard to say for sure it's the very best sandwich in a great sandwich city like Philly, but a good argument can definitely be made for it. It did not disappoint. It is expensive, so not everyone would want to pay that price. It came with potato skins that were just OK. I had the chocolate mud pie for dessert. If you love chocolate like I do you will love this dessert. The cocktails were also very good, and discounted for Happy Hour. The atmosphere was very friendly, you can meet people at the bar during happy hour, and there was a pianist playing soft music in the background. I liked Rittenhouse Grill so much that I went back a couple of weeks later to watch the Phillies game and get that sandwich again. I had the sandwich with fries this time, which i liked better than the potato skins. I also tried the lamb chop appetizer. It's two perfectly cooked juicy lamb chops. It turned out to be an excellent choice of place to watch the game. Rittenhouse Grill is now a part of my happy hour rotation. If you stop by, you might see me sitting at a bar stool. read more

I can only review the ambiance and Happy Hour fare. The Friends of the Avenue of the Arts held a meet and greet during Happy Hour serving drink specials and hors d'oeuvres. Considering the restaurant is in Center City and the COVID adjustments to the streets to accommodate outdoor dining parking was fairly easy. The restaurant is beautiful a dark but with lively old Hollywood feel, very inviting. I started in the bar area it's a nice space but I little too tight for me. Before COVID I'm sure it wasn't an issue. As for dining there are several spaces that can accommodate any need. There's a piano, we were graced with great soft but familiar music. I enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres of potato skins and steak rolls. There were several drink options I went with the bubbly rosé later I ordered the lamb chop duo they were tender and tasty. Throughout the night the service was excellent. Would I go again? Yes often and soon! read more

Old-school city-club dining, open to the public. Simple, classic, understated, elegant. Live jazz piano and string bass duo make this the hands-down Rittenhouse destination for swill, swank, and steak! RITTENHOUSE Tucked neatly at the corner of the Warwick Hotel (and Residences) on the ground floor, at 17th and Locust. This is the spot you take your colleagues, your friends, your partner, your fiancé (or make it so, right here), or even your federal judge friend (because you aren't actually a member of the Union League). RG will host you and your party to make you properly proud! AMBIENCE Dark wood paneling with brass accents, studded black leather chairs, white tablecloths, majestic floral topiaries, and "King" highback chairs for host that anchor each table. Cool. Dave Posmontier jazz piano and string bass duo. Puts RG steps above all the rest. Style and sophistication the way it used to be before piped-in bubbly Boublé and Sinatra became the norm. Bravo! SERVICE I want to say casual and not overdone, but that means it's a massive operation running everything perfectly. Smooth, not rushed or frantic, well-staffed, well-groomed and tailored. Auto-gratuity at 20% is well deserved, and is not concealed, but notably mentioned on the menu, reminded verbally by your server, and underscored on your bill. Well done! SWILL Barmen doing the classics, exactly the way they should be. No frilly and confusing yet daring mixology, just solid and staunch, tradition. Classic wine list with bests and recognizable favorites for each style. STEAK Mine was a simple chopped steak, served in its juices and topped with grilled onion. Delicious. But the steak fries! Oh my. Absolutely perfectly prepared and cooked. My starter was a Caesar salad with anchovies. Dessert was a teeming and delectable cup of raspberry sorbet. DETAIL Black cloth napkins by default. Because everyone is wearing dark clothes. None of this change out from white hoity toity. I could go on and on. Just GO. read more

A true definition of average. Not bad but nothing extraordinary either. The prime rib is their specialty and it was good but not any different from what you'd expect from a good steakhouse. The best deals seem to be happy hour at the bar. The sliders for $10 looked good, same with the shrimp. Lamb chops where also $10 but a bit overcooked and missing a proper char. It's a very elegant restaurant, black on the inside and you instantly feel transported to an older time with piano music softy playing. Every table is lit under a soft light and your party feels cozy but regal. Warning that parking will be difficult to find street side and reservations are somewhat tricky to get. The service itself is fast -- they refill your water glasses instantly and remove or add utensils quickly for the different courses. However, whether it may be because we were served at the tail end of the night or night, our waiter felt stiff and little abrupt. Not necessarily rude as his words were polite but I felt as though I was bothering him and felt worried about it. The food was stunning, delicious steaks and sides. Our party shared sides in order to taste them all. We ordered the spinach, steak fries, baked potato, potato skin, mushrooms and artichoke. Of all of those, my favorites were the incredibly cooked mushrooms and potato skin! My filet mignon specifically was requested medium and it leaned toward well. I find myself regretting not getting medium rare but it was still super soft. My boyfriend loved his prime rib (ate it all to my amazement!) and it was so tender and HUGE. The cheesecake for dessert was fantastic, and paired well with the creamy sauce and strawberries it came with. I was so stuffed but not heavy when I finished my meal. Our whole group agreed it was a lovely experience! read more
